    Loaded mash potatoes

So it's been probably a few years since I've had the Cajun Chicken Alfredo or even eaten at Red Lobster. I ordered a pick-up order and I can say it's nowhere near the same as I remember. The alfredo had no flavor, no cajun taste, or even a good taste. The few chicken I had in the pasta was so fatty and chewy. The mashed potatoes were ok but a little dry. I ordered a side of the biscuits and they were dry as well, had no buttery taste, and were cold. I was very disappointed and won't be going back. It's a shame because I used to like their food.

Well today's experience was not very good. I see why this restaurant has the low stars . Many years of good food down the drain now. The must have had a new cook because the mushrooms they served us were clearly not cooked and yes I took a pic. The lobster roll was not good either, nothing was like the old day's where quality was the priority. Sadly we will not be going back . Lessons learned our waitress was nice and even said the mushrooms didn't look right ! She had them removed as well as the disgusting lobster roll. Best thing was the cheddar bay biscuits but hey that's not seafood . Sorry Red Lobster your food quality has declined .

I've generally been of the opinion that you can ignore bad reviews of chain restaurants, but i've changed my mind. My first bad experience at a red lobster because i did exactly that. Food was messy and soggy. Also only getting 5 of the spicy shrimp as half of a $17 entree is insane.

Southwest-Style Tacos with Lobster & French Fries

I want to start off by saying that this lunch was delicious. I ordered the Southwest Lobster Tacos with fries and it was better than expected. The fries were crispy and the tacos were layered properly (too much southwest sauce, but it was still tasty). Although I'm not sure if the fries should have been in the same container as the tacos, it was okay because the fries were not greasy. This experience is worlds away from my last experience here. I will most definitely order this meal again. I'll just make sure the sauce is on the side lol.

The focus on the beer was mostly on lagers, which I love. Only negative: the man pouring the taps there one of the nights has no clue what he was talking about. I asked him the difference between two of the bocks they had on tap (a helles bock and a maibock...debately the same style, if not very similar) and he said "how strong the Belgian yeasts are" in a very confident tone. I told him I had never heard of bocks being made with Belgian yeasts, and he said it's "a Cincinatti thing". I got a taste of the beer, and there were no phenolics (for non beer nerds: it had no Belgian flavors) so I ordered one and didn't argue.

We hit up several breweries on a recent trip to Columbus, and Hoster was my favorite beer of the trip. It was just well made, good tasting beer - nothing crazy. To top it off, there's bottomless self-serve popcorn and a vintage jukebox topped with a bowl of free quarters to play your favorite selctions from the decades. The collections of artifacts from Hoster's storied histories, make the walk to the bathroom like a visit to a mini-museum. I loved the homey decor and selection of tables, barstools, and comfy chairs. This place was somewhat family friendly, but it's not a huge space, so it's not great for tots that like to run around. I believe there might have been soooome seasonal outdoor seating, but nothing crazy. Lots of parking and easily accessible. The bartender was super welcoming, friendly, and generous! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy - that was welcomed! Hoster is worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Their brews rival the big names in the area.

The hostess told me to have a seat and relax, since it was a surprise for me and all would be taken care of. Although we were among the first tables to arrive, I watched more and more tables placing their food orders. I went to the bar twice to ask if my order to be place and was told that someone would come to my table. After an uncomfortable wait, our order was finally taken. It was 45 minutes before our food arrived and my order was incomplete. My wife's order hadn't arrived at all. I ordered the Golden Fried Perch which was supposed to come with cut fries and grilled corn on the cob. I asked for mashed potatoes as an alternative. The fish was a very small, overcooked portion which wasn't tasty at all. I had to ask for utensils, as well as tartar sauce. The tartar sauce never came. My friend went back to the kitchen to get it for me. The corn was not "on the cob", but rather in a bowl was pretty dry. Meanwhile, we waited and waited for my wife's order of wings. She eventually told the server to cancel the wings and was informed that they were on their way, at no charge. My friend told her that he didn't expect to pay for my meal either (he was treating). We were also disappointed because the group only performed for about an hour, even though they were listed for much longer. One member showed up about 15 minutes after the show started. Many customers were upset because they felt cheated out of the money they paid for the show. (Just recently, the restaurant announced an encore presentation with free entry for those who had tickets for the original show) Although the wings were delicious, I was extremely disappointed in my meal, particularly the fish. I usually assume that it's an isolated event, but, coupled with the other miscues, I didn't have a very good time. Here's hoping that things pick up in the near future.

Definitely a rip-off restaurant. Will not go again. I felt like hiring chef Ramsay for them to help them have a complete make over.

But this most recent stop at the Reynoldsburg location turned out to be a win. I hit the drive-thru after work and happened to land on Rib Bone Tuesday: 4 ribs for $1.99 each. Quick service, friendly staff, and my food was hot and ready without a long wait. The ribs? Surprisingly great. Thick, smoky, and tender with a nice bark. No undercooked sauce or surprise cartilage -- which I've unfortunately experienced here before. I did ask for center cut (as I usually do), and while they say that request can't be passed along, the bones I received were solid. Texas Toast was a nice add-on -- buttery, griddled, and came two for $1.99. A note for the longtime City BBQ folks: I do miss when they used to offer self-serve condiments -- red onions, jalapeños, and pickles -- along with all the sauces in pump bottles. Now, some sauces like the Original come in peel-top packets, and that just doesn't feel the same. Also, while I didn't grab it on this trip, I stand by this statement: City BBQ's potato salad can hang. Possibly better than your mom's. Could be better than your granny's. I said what I said. All in all, I left satisfied and would definitely go back -- especially on a Tuesday.
