First proper Scottish breakfast and it was fantastic. Everyone here was so nice and the food and drink was great. Honestly, I heard someone order a ginger scone and I don't know what I was thinking not ordering one at the time. My scone addiction strong and now I must come back to try their scones. Guess I'll be seeing you again, Red Kite Café. If you are in the area, please stop by this cute cafe, you won't regret it.

What a great find just down the road from our AirBnB This cute little cafe serves wonderful coffee and delicious food. We ordered the Red Kite Breakfast with an extra egg and the tomato left fresh. I don't usually eat bread but the sourdough looked and smelled so appetising that I couldn't resist. I would definitely recommend Red Kite to anyone looking for satisfying breakfast before hitting the sites.

I finally indulged in a Scottish breakfast with haggis (began avail me) and all! The waitstaff was quite cordial and helpful in determining my last breakfast meal before I head back to the US tomorrow. Namaste for a wonderful hour y'all!

A wonderful breakfast place in Edinburgh (pronounced Edinberah) I had The Red Kite breakfast and exchanged the baked beans for Veggie Haggis . OMG... i need that recipe. Community tables available, warm friendly staff. A favorite place for locals and the lucky tourists who stumble in after a long night in Edinburgh. Krista had the Avacado Toast, spinach salad... she loved it. Tables were clean so was the floors...And So Was the Toilet! I rarely give 5 stars... but this place is wonderful.

Cozy little place with very homy decorations. The atmosphere feels very relaxed as if staying at home in a rainy day. Staff was great and very friendly. I had the big breakfast sampler and it was amazing. The eggs were a perfect sunny side up. The sausage and bacon complimented each other in taste. The ciabatta bread was crunchy and went well with all the meats. Top it off with a latte and it feels like mom cooked you a home cooked meal back at home feel to it. I would definitely come back here.

Red kite cafe is the new addition to gentrifying Abbeyhill, and is a lovely place for coffee or brunch. The interior looks lovely, lots of wood, plants and flowers and cute details. Something I always love to see is that they support local artists by putting their art on their walls with a pricetag. There is lots of open space, so parents don't need to worry about prams being blocked. You can sit in the windowsill, at a normal table or on a lovely sofa. Another way you can see the social conscience of Red kite is by looking at their menu. Free range eggs and sausages and good local produce. The brunch menu looked particularly appetising, with classic breakfast options as well as pumpkin & sage fritters and shaksuka (always wanted to try this)! A breakfast item will set you back around £7. I opted for a soy flat white and it was pretty good, no complaints! Next time I'll be back for some grub!

I had the Ham and cheddar sandwich with a split bean soup, he had the salmon sandwich with soup... can't remember the name right now.

Came into this cafe for a quick lunch while I had clothes in the local laundry. I had the ham and cheddar sandwich and a split bean soup. It was so good. After our lunch I ordered a white pomegranate tea and a blondie. Both were so delicious, I had to take a blondie to go. I had a very pleasant experience and food was great as well. If I ever return to Edinburgh I will definitely return to the Red Kite café.

My husband and I found this gem because it was a 30 second walk from our Airbnb. The cappuccino was perfectly done, the almond croissant was delicious and fluffy, and the breakfast sandwiches on their homemade brioche buns....omg best little breakfast we had while in Edinburgh. Each time we were in there, it was mainly all locals- that's how you know it's good!!

Cauliflower tomato curry with turmeric bread. Amazing!

The best breakfast spot in this part of the city. The owner keeps a watchful eye from the barista station.

The food was absolutely delicious! My porridge was so hearty and yummy, I wanted to lick the bowl. My spouse's eggs benedict dish was also fantastic, and you can tell they use very fresh, high quality ingredients. The way they serve the meals in little stainless steel lunch boxes is adorable. My chai tea latte with oat milk was fantastically spicy and not too sweet. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and always nearby, so it was easy to ask for our check when we were ready. And the inside of the restaurant had a warm, cozy feel. I would gladly eat every breakfast here the next time we're in Edinburgh!

When it came to ordering, I got an Iced Latte and a Buttery Bap. The menu is a bit difficult to decipher, as it was confusing how much or how little can be added to it and at what cost. The menu said I could only pick one filling, but when I asked I was informed that I could pick an unlimited amount. I'm glad I trusted my instinct and went with just two: Veggie Haggis and Tattie Scones. Both of these were truly delicious. However, there was an extra charge for the second filling. Prices for additions are listed at the bottom of the menu as if they were sides you could order separately. On the receipt, I also saw that I was charged 0.50 extra for ice. I don't understand why places charge extra to make an iced drink when overall you're actually getting less of the drink. Overall, everything tasted good and I'm glad I was able to try numerous Scottish classics.

Slotted in on Rose Street, at the back of the huge and imposing columned Dome buiding, this gorgeous little city-centre oasis is the perfect place to rest your shopping-weary feet and have a tasty lunch. It's only open from april to early september, and although it's tucked down a narrow street this place is a great little suntrap. You can get wraps, salads, soups, burgers, that sort of thing here - not a full á la carte lunch, but the portions are fairly generous so you'll only need one course. The service was ok, but our waiter didn't even bother to bring us our change back. We had been planning to leave it as a tip for him, but we thought it was a bit cheeky of him just to assume, especially when service is already included in the prices. For a salad and a soft drink you'll spend just over £10 a head, which makes it slightly pricier than a lot of other lunchtime cafés nearby, but this setting is just so gorgeous I'd happily pay the difference.

I adored the lime, poppyseed, and blueberry roulade! It was gone before the soup and toastie sandwich arrived. Crispy on the outside and so very soft and tasty on the inside. The cookie pie was impressive, but I honestly liked the roulade so much better. The soup today was broccoli and it was delicious! I had a ham and cheese sandwich lightly grilled in a panini press. Mom had a chorizo sandwich. The ladies at the bakery were lovely! Friendly happy folk always make food taste better! The bakery was quiet and not busy at 12:30 pm. It wasn't empty, just not busy. We got a table for 3! It was funny (and also a sad commentary on humans) that the still water available said "Please turn the tap off." Silly people. Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch!
