Read the raving reviews and just had to try it. Ample parking so no worry there. The house is cute. The bar area is small but then you notice that it has a lot of other dining areas and it gives super cute vibes. I went for happy hour. There's no food on happy hour-FYI. I ordered the house red which was decent. I ended up ordering the wagyu burger. The menu said they don't cook past medium so I ordered it as such. The patty was overcooked and dry. It was charred on the outside and gave a terrible burnt taste as you ate the burger. The house made blue cheese I got for my fries was great. The fries were decent. Overall, I think it's good for drinks but the burger really let me down so I am not sure I want to go back and try their food again. However, given its location I'd definitely be back for HH. There were a lot of happy customers by the way. Lots of laughter. The staff was super great as well. read more

An interesting little spot in the heart of downtown Renton... Chose to go here for dinner with my friend and boyfriend as it has been in my bookmarks for literally a year plus. Red House is very cute. It's literally a red house turned bar/restaurant. They've got an adorable, spacious patio that would be PERFECT for nice weather! It's got lights of ivy and string lights, so it's also the perfect spot to snap a photo for Instagram. The inside is a different story. Still cute, still charming, but as I mentioned before... It's a house! So the layout is like that of a house with smaller rooms with a few tables in each room. We were seated in the first room where all the wines are located. It's cool because on all of the wine shelves, it's labeled where the wines are from - Oregon, France, California, etc. Our waiter was super nice and personable and helped us with menu options. I ended up ordering the Pickle & Olive plate to start followed by the lasagna where my boyfriend got bacon mac and cheese. The pickle & olive plate was decent. I really liked the olives (they have pits!) because they were nice and garlicky, but the pickles didn't really do it for me as they were more bread and buttery opposed to the garlic flavor I was hoping for. The lasagna was also pretty tasty. The portion size I got was a lot bigger than I expected, so I ended up taking leftovers home. They make it nice & cheesy which is awesome! My boyfriend also ended up liking his mac & cheese - he was nervous about it because it had goat gouda in it and he's never been a goat cheese fan (same tho). I took a bite of it and I liked my lasagna better. You can taste the goat cheese for sure, but the addition of bacon makes it waaay better! All in all, it's a cute place for sure but I think when and if I return, it'll be for drinks and not for dinner. read more

As the saying goes, "All good things must come to an end..." This used to me one of my favorite local restaurants before the pandemic. Was excited so to return once they finally opened. The menu changed and seemed limited compared to my go-to options, but I wanted to give it a try anyways. Went in for a late lunch so it wasn't very busy. Wife and I had a sleeping toddler in the car, so we went in first to scope out if they had availability before unloading him. The server pleasantly greeted me and try to find us a table. New staff I hadn't met in my previous visits. She was told that there's no space for a stroller. So I asked them if I can our son lay on the chair until we get wakes up, so she showed me what options they had available. The guy, who appears to be the manager came out, and told me " That seems like a safety concern." I asked, so I asked him "So can I bring my son in his stroller?" He replied with irritation, "We're a restaurant." "So restaurants don't allow strollers?" "No." "Okay." I don't need to fight to spend my money where I'm not welcomed and be treated like second class. I can understand if you can't accommodate a stroller, but as busy parents, our opportunity to get out for a nice meal is limited, so to be treated with such pretentiousness and so condescendingly without showing any empathy left a such a bitter taste in my mouth. So disappointed that the last time I visited before the the pandemic would be the last time I'll ever be a patron here. Alas, all good things must come to an end. read more

This place is amazing! First of all, everything on the menu looked incredible so it was hard to choose what I wanted. Second of all, I am very sad to just be learning about this place. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for! When I tell you I could eat this sandwich everyday ....I could absolutely eat this sandwich every single day! It's delicious! Honestly, can't go wrong with focaccia bread. The fries were cooked to perfection. I'm talking "so good" that you don't even need a condiment...as you can see my ketchup is pushed far off to the side. Servers are kind, they want you to have a good experience. Ours was great! You know you are in the Pacific NW when almost everything is salmon. And good ones at that! This was our first stop to eat on a multi-day trip and it set the bar high for great food. My only regret was that I don't leave within two time-zones and can't enjoy this on a more frequent basis. I ordered the Salmon BLT. It was some powerful sandwich. The bread was THE BEST BREAD I can remember. Chewy, wonderful. The salmon was nice and salty and well balanced with the LT with the added treat of bacon. If bacon can make anything better, it rocks salmon to the moon. I need to experiment with this combination a little more. I passed on the normal sides and went with the lentil and ham soup. I really liked it, but it wasn't in the same superior level as the sandwich. Good, but not memorable. I'd like to try another soup to see what could be dialed into a combination with the sandwich. read more

I hadn't been to Red House since just before the pandemic and it was a random decision to go this evening to treat myself to dinner and a glass of good wine. I'm so happy that I decided to go! The new owners have done a wonderful update on the interior, it's fresh, open and inviting. The food and drink selection was so exciting (they now offer liquor and beer in addition to wine) that I struggled to decide what to order. I sat at the bar and had 2 lovely cocktails (the 1017 and Bee's Knees) to go with my spring salad with salmon. Everything was great and I think I may work to become a regular. What a great dinner with family! Red House checked all of the boxes for an enjoyable night out. We were celebrating my son graduating high school and my parents visiting from out of state. The server was casual yet professional. He knew what he was doing and was handling the dining room like a pro. He also memorized our order for 6 people including modifications. Dude was . All ages enjoyed the menu options that were clearly well thought out with the majority being scratch made. The flavors were great, the freshness was obvious and the beer list had many local awesome craft options. Loved seeing Holy Mountain and Seapine on the draft list. My grilled chicken sandwich was so tasty with the pepper jack cheese and a perfectly toasted soft bun! I sampled some of the other plates at the table like the delicious beet salad, the zesty Mediterranean salad and a burger that was so well executed it would give Guy Fieri goosebumps! The food was so good I didn't get a chance to take a picture for the review. The atmosphere here is perhaps the best thing in all of Renton. The staff are incredibly personable, fun, and caring. This place is currently entertaining guests as diners, but it's built for (and open to) being a truly unique and lively hangout that happens to have bars and food. The upstairs houses couches and shelves full of boardgames along with a rustic bar. The brisket sandwich, fried Mac and cheese, and gorgeously presented dessert dishes are 5 star quality. This cute house has been converted into a restaurant and it's really charming and cozy. Tonight I had the grilled cheese and it was phenomenal. It came with an onion Au jus (vegan ) that really elevated the dish. This was definitely a grown-up grilled cheese dish. Three kinds of cheese and a total punch of flavor. Went here with a group tonight after seeing their plea on Facebook to support a struggling local business. Have been here a couple times previously and had overall good experiences. Asked for tea to drink (it's cold!) and was brought a mug of hot water and a selection of grocery store teas. Totally fine with me. No saucer or dish to put my used tea bag on so it sat awkwardly on the wrapper/table when done steeping. Asked for another cup of tea and was asked if I needed another tea bag - well yea, this one is used and has been sitting on the table. Charged me $9 for 2 cups of tea (trader Joe tea bags of which I used 2 - not fancy loose leaf artisanal, give you the whole pot type deal). Waiter was not super attentive and snapped at my friend who was trying to get his attention when another person arrived and wanted to put in an order. Shared fries to start which were plentiful and crispy but had some type of seasoning with sugar in it that wasn't great. Got the vegan pesto as an entree and it did not taste like pesto - was very bitter. Added grilled chicken (I'm not vegan, just lactose intolerant) and the chicken was super dry. No bread or any side came with the $40 pasta. Dessert chocolate ganache was ok. All in all the service and the food quality did not justify the high prices. Waiter did seem to try to redeem himself at the end by giving us separate checks even though I guess it's against their policy. First timers and loved EVERYTHING about our dining experience. Jordan was THE best server! The food was exceptional- and large servings. We ordered the brisket, the pork shank, crème brûlée and an Irish coffee. I'm a brisket snob and theirs was absolutely amazing! The perfect fat to meat ratio - like butter! The pork shank was delicious - crispy outside and nice and tender inside. The sides of fresh veggies - asparagus and zucchini, perfect hot fries, and mushroom risotto were a great complement to the plate. The crème brûlée was the very well received ending to a great meal - not too sweet and very creamy and smooth. The Irish coffee was poured generously! We will be returning! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Old Renton. You might find plates around the O.R. that are singularly special like Farfalle Alla Marianna or the fish sauce wings at Burnett's, but overall there's no better menu and no better food. It is American fare in general and the menu items change slightly throughout the year. Roasted beet stack, pork belly kimchi tacos, clams and chorizo, Marsala, braised short ribs are all tip top. The service is outstanding and the drinks are substantial. The only problem I've ever had here was one time a guy was feeding his dog right off the bar. Which doesn't work for me and shouldn't work for the bartender but hey there are tables for the human diners. read more

We had a great dinner here tonight. We were going to order dinner but the appetizers looked too good so we shared three different apps for four people. The nachos were everyone's favorite but we loved the falafel fries and the pita and hummus and olives too. We all ordered drinks and desserts (cheesecake with berry compote and also the creme brulé). I am so excited to give a glowing review of the Red House because of our recent experience. But a note to all, on first glance I noticed that the photos of the food do not reflect their current menu. Knowing that there are new owners, I wonder if they haven't claimed the business on yelp and hence why it hasn't been updated. Now onto the food. We came here for dinner and it was unbelievably tasty. I'm gluten and dairy free and had the steak, which they subbed the sauce and gave me their mushroom au jus that comes with their grilled cheese. It was absolutely delicious and 100% vegan (as is their chimichurri sauce - but I'm not a huge fan of chimichurri sauce). They seriously went the extra mile to make sure my dinner was allergen free and something that I'd love to eat. My partner had the lasagna and he said it was amazing and so filling. He LOVED the garlic bread. He said it was so delicious and this man is not a bread guy. He wound up eating his whole plate, dipping the garlic bread into the last bit of sauce. We would highly recommend this place for a date night or if you're in the mood to be wine'd and dined. read more

Our family used to come here all the time for celebrations and almost all our plates would be licked clean you couldn't go wrong with anything. We cane here this past Sunday to celebrate my dad's birthday I became a little worried after reading reviews and had heard from my brother they were disappointed when they went about 6 months ago. So happy we kept our reservations the entrees had changed a little but we were all happy with our selections. The braised pork shoulder was so flavorful and soft. The paella and seafood stew were as yummy as we remembered. My sister in law ordered the sambal shrimp so delicious, bread sopping broth! We shared the flourless chocolate torte for dessert. Probably the item that changed the most that I personally was a little disappointed with was the charcuterie we selected the cheese and meat. Think they came as one before but can understand splitting them vegetarians are those avoiding dairy. Missed all the yummy pickled veggies that used to come with it, there were only to little pickled peppers. The chocolate truffle was an interesting touch had some kind of fruit in it. It's not a great place for kids since the only thing on the menu my 5 year old would eat was the French fries but they were delicious French fries! I have been to a lot of places that served smoked brisket, but the reality is all too often a disappointment. Not at the Red House! They have some of the best smoked brisket I've ever had. The staff is great, they obviously care about what they're doing. The food? Fantastic! The drinks? Creative and fun. The artwork on the walls? Beautiful! If you'd like to have a great meal in a great atmosphere, come to the Red House! It's going to be on my "must stop at" list when I'm in town. I rarely enjoy all aspects of a meal this much.
