Miracle on Hicks Street! Driving back at the tail end of a trip from CT to Brooklyn all my lights started coming on the dashboard. Car was losing power fast as it died miraculously right in front of Red Hook Performance Auto Shop and Repairs. I apologized to the Manny the manager who was already super busy for blocking his entrance. He couldn't been more courteous or professional saying "No problem - pop the hood". In seconds he saw the belt snapped jumped the car with a power pack and put it into the garage. Manny dispatched ordered the new belt and asked me to kindly wait he would put the car to the front of the line and get me back on the road as fast as he could. In the mean time, the owner Felix who had just arrived came over and introduced himself as the owner. I swear he must have been a mind reader asking me if I was having problems with the AC and other issues prior to the belt snapping. All of the answers were yes. As the belt arrived, Felix told Manny that he would take care of it saying to me, "I don't ask my guys to do something that I will not or cannot do myself". The belt was in a tricky position with many of the bolts rusty and tough to maneuver. Like a surgeon, he expertly installed the belt in minutes. I asked if I could watch and he gave me a tutorial on the process. Really amazing. Once finished. Felix and Manny pointed out a couple of things that should be done which I gladly agreed to. I was back on the road with a car good as new in less than two hours and at a more than fair price. Turns out before he bought the shop, Felix was their top requested mechanic. An original Red Hooker since the 1980s is a Real American success story running a family business which includes his uncle and son. He also provides custom cars to Movie and TV Production companies as well. He sets a great example and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty or working long hours. Professional, honest, courteous, timely and fair. What more could you ask for from a Auto Shop. I can not be more grateful for Felix Manny and the rest of the crew totally saving me that day. Absolutely Awful, they have had my car since 04/10/2022, Manny, refuse to give a estimate, they just ordered parts 2 weeks ago. He claimed he didn't think he was going to get paid. We gave him permission to get the parts in May , he refused to give an estimate. This is a $9000 job. I am ready to have my car removed. The games he is playing with me is going to cost them a good payout. This is all over airbags being replaced and lying. Other company's in cluding Ford Parts said they had it and they could ship it out. He is such a BS artist. read more

My Honda Accord was in a terrible accident, by all accounts it should have been totaled (Geico's adjuster dropped the ball on this one), luckily for me it was towed to Red Hook Performance, they were able to repair it inside and out and return what looks and drives like a new car out of a showroom. Felix and his team are the best (especially his sister Maria who efficiently runs the office). I'm so grateful, in this day and age of people and businesses trying to get over on the average working guy, it's so nice to know of a neighborhood auto repair and collision shop that's honest and takes pride the their work. They will seem very nice and try to befriend you at first, but they are crooks! I was involved in an accident and brought my car there to be repaired, paid by my insurance, and they charged an extra $3000 hidden cost which I HAD to pay. My husband and I heard about Red Hook Performance through a friend because we were diligently looking to buy our first car, and they happened to have the perfect car for us, a Subaru Forester. This car came to them from an accident, & they had fixed it up into being as good as new, with a new battery, oil change, and everything it needed. We had spent an overwhelming amount of time searching for the right car prior to finding this Subaru, mainly because we didn't want to spend any money on a car from someone we couldn't get to know and trust. The head mechanic there, Felix, is truly amazing at what he does, and he was always excited to explain what kind of work he was doing with the car. We couldn't deny that he has a real heart for his work. This is difficult to find in NYC, so we're very happy to have found Red Hook Performance, where we plan to go for all future auto mechanical needs. read more

This place is a complete scam, they are con-artists, not a repair shop, they will do whatever they can to rob you out of as much money as possible. My car was in an accident and this place showed up when the police called a tow truck. The tow truck driver tried selling me on their business pretty much before he even got out of the truck, and then tried to leave with my car without giving me any paperwork for the tow or even a location where it would be towed too. If you need proof of their lies and scams, just read the review from November 2016, the one where the "owner" responded to try and blame his staff member, Gill, for the problems and then say that he doesn't work with Gill any more...my car was towed by Gill in November 2018 & Gill also assured me he was one of the owners and that he would "take care of me" if I let them do the repair work. Even the NYPD officers at the scene warned me not to trust this shop after the tow! NYS has a maximum amount any shop is allowed to charge for tow and storage from the scene of an accident, this place tried to bill me 3x that rate. When I called to negotiate the billing price they claimed they didn't know my car was towed from an accident that their tow truck was called by NYPD, but that they would check with the tow truck driver. Funny part was the number I called to negotiate was the number Gill gave me when he towed my car and told me it was his cell number. Even after "checking with the driver" and acknowledging that it was a towed via the DARP-ROTOW program they still charged an additional $250 over the state-mandated rate, which they are aware of because they have a sign in their office which notes the state allowed rates. On top of that, they spent 4 days "negotiating" the bill with me knowing that every day they wasted doing this they could charge me an additional day of storage. This place is a complete joke and a monumental rip off, don't ever bring your car here for any reason. read more

I think the other review is fake. I took my mazda 3 into these guys to get fixed in January 2012. Not only did they do a great job fixing it but they detailed up the car so it looked better than when i dropped it off. They also helped me get a good detail on a rental and gave me a few rides to the rental place and other locations. Super nice guys. read more

Went to this auto shop And it seems like all the bad reviews are exactly accurate, don't give these people your money, there super disrespectful and unprofessional. since I brought my car to them for pretty much just a paint job on a few panels Nd some light body work, I already heard 3 different prices ranging from $1000 (the first price I was told) Nd somehow turning into $2100 because I added That I wanted them to change my rotors. As soon as I left the car in their possession Manny (the boss) starts lying for his coworkers telling me that he never said 1000, mins u he wasn't even in the shop when I came by the first two times Nd spoke to Justin (the bosses little groupie), by the end of my business with them, I ended up paying 1600 for work that should've been worth 1200-13 at the most, regardless all these guys do is work together to try Nd undermine u to see how high of a ridiculous price you'll let them get away with.and there work is decent at best, read more

Just picked up my 2016 Audi Q3, Can't believe the job that was done. It looks like it just came out of the showroom . I'm a fanatic when it comes to bodywork and paint, and you could never tell this truck was involved in an accident . The lines are perfect the paint looks like it was done in the factory. I thought I was dealing with a reputable company, boy was I wrong! They received 8K for my car and now (6 months later-picked up car first week of Jan 2015) The paint is bubbling!!! Went to see Manny, the guy that runs the place, he tells me....hope you're all sitting down. Paint bubbling is due to the minor dents on my back bumper, that's how the paint got bubbles and is now peeling. The bubble as it's starting to peal is at the curvature of where bottom of trunk meets the top of bumper. Funny, five years ago I got rear ended while at the stop light, I repeat, my car in stop! the hit to my bumper was so hard, I in-turn hit the car in front of me. ***The funny part....no paint bubble, chips of any kind. Thank God I had a reliable collision guy do that job! Now he will have to re-do Red Hook's shoddy work.**** Wonder...think they buy their paint at the $.99 store? I'll post more later, with pictures!!! No hard feelings, I suppose it's because I'm a single gal...you know how that goes. But I assure you, I'm a talker! Took my car here for some body work. They seemed to be good and I looked at the reviews, which seemed good. All probably by the staff/owners. Car looked good after repair and was fast. Then I personally took apart to look at job. Totally lied. They removed parts that were on car that were not damaged (should not have been touched to begin with) and patched up with glue/tape where you cannot see. Cut wires and left hanging behind fenders. Stated OEM parts and when took off found to be a lie and they tried to customize non OEM garbage by drilling holes in it to fit side lights. The list goes on and on. Once they are done with your car do not even bother complaining, they will put you off. Never go to this place if you care about your car! read more

Horrible auto shop!!! A job that was suppose to take no more than 2 weeks took 4 weeks. They would never call us. We would call them and get bad news every single time. Either a piece received was broken, a shipment didn't come on time or they would find something else wrong with the car. It was unbelievable. Not one single courtesy call. To say I am not a car expert is an understatement--I know as much about cars as Donald Trump does about being president (ok, maybe a little bit more). But then I got a job that was inaccessible by transit, my grandmother died, and here I was, a newly minted Brooklyn driver. I was very apprehensive about what Red Hook streets would have in store, and I was correct in assuming people are jerks and will happily drive away after hitting you with no regard for personal property and consequences. I've had two hit and run incidents parked on my street in the past year--one in which my mirror and some side paneling was ripped off. The other involved my front bumper being torn off and my driver's side headlight being smashed. I met Gil while waiting for the police to show up the first time my car was hit--he happened to be driving by and gave me his card. I've dealt with several other body shops in the area--in Red Hook and Sunset Park--and I always felt like I was being condescended to and overcharged for services. Gil is a huge exception--he's extremely professional and does a phenomenal job at a fair price. He did amazing work fixing my mirror, but his skill really shined through the second time I was hit. When I saw the damage done I was certain the car was totaled. I would tell friends someone hit my parked car and they'd scoff until they saw the pictures--the front looked like it had been through a trash compactor. Everyone told me I should start looking to buy a new one (unfortunately for me, I'm an adjunct professor so purchasing a new car is no joke). Car is a 2000 Acura RL and I was very worried the cost of fixing would be more than the car's overall worth. Gil reassured me that that was not the case (as the engine is pristine and the car has, knock on wood, never given me problems). I was somewhat dubious about such major work being done on the car and being worth my money. Not only did Gil get the job done in two days; he replaced both of my headlights and fixed the side paneling (which I didn't even ask for). In fact, when he drove up I didn't even recognize my vehicle it looked so pristine and new--better than before it was hit. Mind you, this car is old and these parts are not readily available. Gil delivered beyond all my wildest expectations. Perfect paint job, bright new lights. I will never go to anyone else as long as I live in Red Hook. read more

Cannot begin to describe how unbelievably professional & genuine the crew is @ Red Hook Performance!! After an accident on BQE where car was inoperable, I had no clue what to do next when out of nowhere Felix & Gil from Red Hook pulled up and immediately offered to help anyway possible. They advised that car was more than likely totaled given yr, make & model, which wasn't the greatest feeling, however from that point on they couldn't have possibly done a more thoroughly job of educating me on the claims process ensuring the best possible outcome. My vehicle was towed to their shop and while still in shock from the accident they carefully removed any & all personal belongings from vehicle. Next, Gil drove me to Enterprise around the corner and made sure I was setup w/ an adequate rental @ Geico's preferred rate. Once I was set w/ rental, Gil had me follow him back to the shop where they loaded all of my personal belongings into rental. Gil provided his personal cell # and touched base w/ me first thing the following day to help guide me through the claims process serving as a liaison btwn myself and Geico. Cannot possibly begin to thank them for everything they did for me in my time of need - these guys are 1st Class all the way and I'm confident they take care of all of their customers this way!! read more
