This is what I call the 2k dessert special...
    Michael M.

I've been coming here on and off for some years now. This place is very far from me, but what I like here is that either if we win or loose, we end up having a nice overall experience. The buffet serves very good selection of foods. You can see the many photos of the different selections. That alone makes coming here a drive well worth. Also, the table dealers remember your face and just that little touch of remembering who you are makes playing here a much better experience than some other casinos. Most of the time when I come here, I always find room to play. But if you come here on a Friday or Saturday, this place can become very busy and it makes finding a game to play slightly difficult. As you can see from my photos, I have had some good luck playing here. Of course, I had my share of going home with no luck. But I feel as if my luck is slightly better here than other casinos more closer to me.

A cool sculpture near the hotel part of the resort.

They have a grand entrance near the hotel part of the resort. We didn't see it from the outside when we drove in, maybe because we followed the self park area instead of the valet arrow/direction. We saw it from the inside as we moseyed over to the hotel part looking for the Buffett. There was a waterfall to complete its grandness. Exit Red Hawk Parkway off the 50 and you enter directly into the resort. They have an easy to follow sign to Valet Parking and Self Parking. We choose to Self Park, no the way out we read a big sign that Valet parking is free. That would have been go to know at entering the resort. We parked on the 5th level and took the elevator down to the casino. We came for the buffet but, didn't see any signs that led you directly there. Walking around we ended up at the hotel portion of the resort. It's off to the side and has a long hallway there that isn't cramped with slot machines or table games. The lady at the front desk pulled out a map and showed us where the escalator was to the buffet and other restaurants. (See the Buffett page for a full review) After our buffet we wandered around the casino and found some table games that were for non-smokers. That was a perk for those that don't want to be consumed by people smoking. There were people smoking throughout the Casino and we had the misfortune of walking behind two of them as we were exiting the casino. One thing I was really surprised about it they have Pepsi Machines all over the casino and they are self serve. You can drink as much as you want for free. What a deal. They don't have cranberry or orange juice like they have in the buffet, but they have soda. They also have coffee and hot water. They have both reg and decaf coffee for the taking. I saw this cool machine that dispenses cream , blue sweetener, and sugar. They didn't have this machine in the buffet area. I saw a lot of people carrying around prizes and a prize distribution center. I don't know how you can get prizes, but one man was carrying around a garden hose and my husband commented on how useful that would be for us. I read up on it and you have to be a rewards member to get prizes. I was surprised my husband didn't sign up for their rewards program, he seems to sign up at every casino we go to. On the other hand we didn't do any gambling on this trip. Not even a single quarter in a slit machine. I don't belive the machines take cash anymore or give out cash. I believe it's now all on your card. Thus there is no spontaneity as you walk by a machine. My dad used to be one of those spontaneous people that would walk by after dinner and put in a few bills. He never won anything, but the tried. Before we left we checked out the apex. It's a neat place. They have their own food court, lots of games for the kids or the kid in you, and a sports bar.

Back again at one of my favourite stops. I guess timing is everything,, since I came when it wasn't extremely busy, my food actually arrived very hot, exactly the way I like it, lol it even came with a orange wedge for garnish, wow! I do hate lukewarm food, the chicken fried steak actually came out pretty decent this time, it was not crunchy snd dried out like the last time, the potatoes, well they looked and tasted like they were done earlier in the day, they were sad.. I've gotta time it so I don't come when they're real busy, the food comes out much hotter. Another great meal here.

    A Reuben cooked perfectly.

Verona Cafe is the cafeteria style restaurant upstairs and in the Redhawk casino. This dish was so good I had to give a review. Everything is fresh and cooked to order I would definitely try this place out.

Muy Bueno! This game can keep you playing for awhile.

Another great time at the Hawk! Not as much wining this time but enough to have a great time with the wife. Cindy checked us in she is always great and the rest of the staff was pleasant.

5/17/2025: Welp~My First-Born Daughter and YELP! Friend coerced me into participating in another Koto Buffet Inhalation Session, lol! May the food vacuum inhalation session begin--I'm "here for the food" as per the sister, Jacqueline's quote from the movie, "Ever After: A Cinderella Story" since, I don't gamble . . . https://youtu.be/p1lc2RkFsYQ?feature=shared Um, anyway--aside and upon entering the Koto Buffet, my "food-prone/laser focused" eyes honed in on the milk chocolate Cinderella slippers--waaaah!!!!! I wanted to eat the milk chocolate Cinderella slippers--ONLY THAT AND NOTHING ELSE for LUNCH despite, the lunch costing $40.00 per person until, 4:00 PM then, after 4:00 PM, the dinner costs escalates to $59.00 per person~LOL! This lunch inhalation session comprised literally GRAZING every food station Koto Buffet possesses insuring consuming $40.00 worth of food, i.e., the PRIME RIB had my name plastered all over the entire slab of prime rib! Overall, I'm elated Koto Buffet isn't far from my humble abode; however and surely, the incessant grazing will surely add pounds to my hips and thighs--LOL! Moreover, NEXT KOTO BUFFET PLOTTING INHALATION SESSION, my First-Born Daughter has decided plotting zooming around APEX FIRST before participating the Koto Buffet Inhalation Session . . . Why? Oh--it's because the racing cars zooming by appears quite AWESOME: APEX'S interior possesses a "TRON" movie incorporated, interior design! Therefore, we're going to ride APEX next visit fo' sho'! LOL!

Pool is pretty nice and they work hard to maintain it.

4.5 out of 5 Had some contractor work to do here. Stayed a night. THE GOOD ° The rooms are above average - beds were comfortable and well equipped with pillows - very clean and the soap/shampoo/conditioner are A tier ° Whole facility is well maintained ° Restaurants ranged from okay to pretty good - Got a Pesto Sandwich from the Verona - Also tried the buffet. - - Buffet food also ranged from okay to pretty good. HIGHLY recommend the HuliHuli chicken at the carving station though! ° Plenty to do and play ° All staff I encountered were friendly THE BAD ° The smoke in the main floor could be better ventilated. - Easier said than done, I know. °Ube Matcha drink at Verona just tasted like green tea. No Ube present. THE UGLY ° Wish they had player v player Texas Hold'em - I looked around and don't believe I saw one Overall, I enjoyed my time at Red Hawk. Also, I passed by the kid zone, it looked fun. Didn't have my kids with my so I can't verify Disclaimer: I was contracted by the casino, and the room was comped by them. My review was not influenced nor paid for separately.

This is their new area with the bar and all bunch of games. We played golf, had a blast!
    Liana G.

Red hawk is actually pretty nice! They offer nice restaurants to dine and even the new arcade area has so much to do, if you're not a gambler. The casino area is always loud and Smokey as you can imagine. The arcade area is super fun to go with your kids or even friends to have cocktails and play games. They even have go cart racing( I'm pretty sure that's what it's called lol). We enjoyed the restaurant, fine dinging Henry's. Super cute place for a date night.

With a players card they also give a discount on meals in the cafe, I don't know about the buffet. I gotta stop here since it's along my travels. I'd like to try their buffet sometime. They do a pretty decent job of keeping the smoke at bay from people that smoke. I decided it was snack time so why not get a bite before resuming my drive.. I ordered some fish & chips, it was the decision between that or loco moco, their version of loco moco didn't sound too appealing. The fish came out fairly quickly, it was quite nice, crispy coating and actually see and taste fish in the middle instead of a lot of batter. I gotta travel everywhere with my malt vinegar, they had heinz malt vinegar amd I can tell you that's one of the malt vinegar brands I detest. The chips/fries were okay, I wouldn't order it but it did come with the order. The fries looked good but the weren't as crunchy on the outside as I would prefer. Now the setting has a short wall around the stage area and just outside of it is a huge bar with lots of seating. The raised stage has been the scene of performances from different genres whether you're in the mood for soul, classic rock, top 40, country, Latin, R&B, Motown, and the 80's! Bands usually perform Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30p - 1:30a and Sundays from 1:00-4:00p and most of the time country bands performing on Sundays. The Stage Bar is located inside Red Hawk Casino. It is right next to the elevators heading to the Waterfall Buffet and other restaurants downstairs. It has a dance floor and high and low table seating all around. Every once in a while a server will come around passing out free small water bottles to patrons. I like it that the Casino provided seating rather than just having to stand there to watch the performances especially when the bands go on their intermission breaks between sets. At least we don't have to wander away we can just hang out. People tend to leave after the second music set if there are no seats (like other casinos... I won't mention the name but the casino is in Lincoln). LoL Red Hawk is about a 45-min drive from my home so I pick my shows when I come here. I've seen some great local talent on stage including the Spazmatics [the Ultimate 80's New Wave show], Big Bad Boogie Rock [70's and 80's], Apple Z [Pop and Top 40], and Cover Me Badd [Today's Dance hits]. So when visiting Red Hawk Casino on a weekend check out some of the region's hottest bands live at the Stage Bar! Free live entertainment Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Review #0739

The hotel is undergoing renovations, but based on what we saw, renovations won't fix the real issues. Our room looked like a quick patch job. The walls had mismatched white paint, the shower didn't drain properly, and the shower curtain had an unpleasant smell. The iron in the room was broken and leaking water. Several wall outlets looked worn out and honestly like a fire hazard, so I was hesitant to plug in my phone. The windows opened fully, which isn't typical for hotels, so that was surprising. There were no luggage trolleys available, and the elevator was not working, which made moving bags in and out a hassle. Overall, this stay was disappointing, uncomfortable, and not worth the price. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

I really enjoyed the live competitions they host because it just adds another layer of great customer service experience. This is our go to when we want to have fun on a random night! Kids quest may as well be called godsend for parents because this is just something that does not exist anywhere in my experience as a parent of a four and seven-year-old! The staff was incredibly helpful in getting this oriented to the experience and help the kids. We got signed up really quickly and the kids were in and having a blast in no time which let us head back to the casino to check it out and also explore Apex. The kids told us they had an absolute blast in space and that the counselors were friendly and kind and helpful, and that they couldn't wait to return. Personally, I want to come vacation at Redhawk again just because I know this exists and it means that I could enjoy dinner with my wife or even head out and find something fun to eat or do in Placerville surrounding area because this place is open late! Yes, this is an awesome addition to a hotel property and every hotel should consider, including something like this because by God did we spend some money after we left here. So good!

And is on the same floor as the Casino. It's really close to the parking garage. The temperature is warmer than the Casino and make it more pleasant. I don't belive you can smoke in the apex. I didn't even see anyone vaping either. Soon as we walked in the Apex we spotted the food court. They have really good deals on food and drink. There is no need to go to the steakhouse or Buffett if you are just looking for a quick meal of burgers or pizza or the like. In Addition this is a quick alternative if you don't want to waste time eating as you are more into playing games or gambling or watching a sporting event. $6 for a beer, $3 for a soda and $9 for a personal pizza. They have tacos, wings, burgers, salads and much more. All reasonably priced. See photo for pricing details. They have a nice looking sports bar with a full bar in the center and lots of tv screens and a giant ticker wraps around the room. They have DJ trivia Wednesday nights at 7pm. They offer hurricane slushy drinks and Kings drink specials. Behind the Sports bar they have virtual golf that looked fun. We saw 2 people playing. They even had the whole set of gloves in a bag. Next time we have to play golf. In the arcade we saw some people having fun in a virtual reality ride. The ride was swinging them all over as they looked thought there virtual reality googles. The arcade has lots of arcade games (like Mario and Harlow, motorcycle and car driving games.), pinball machines, and a giant claw machine. We didn't try any games on his trip. They have indoor Go-cart races that require you to wear a helmet. The track is all lit up with neon lights. It's a pretty big course from what I can see. Six people were exiting the course when we walked by. They were all excited, filled with adrenaline and chattering about the good time they had. Lastly they have a bowling alley, it was pretty big, but not big enough to hold a private event there and have free bowling at the same time. When we were there it was being used by a private event. They have 18 interactive lanes. SUN - FRI UNTIL 5PM | $40/HR PER LANE and FRI 5PM - SAT | $45/HR PER LANE. Pricy, but I think that's still around the price of our bowling alley is back home. Shoe rental is $5 and if they have socks on hand it's $3. This looks like a really fun place to hang out and store your kids for a few hours while you gamble. It is expensive though and all of the machines take their cash card, like the casino rewards card they have a card system so there is no spontaneity when it comes to wanting to play a single game or two. This is how our BlVD is back home in Sacramento and probably how Dave and Busters is so it's not uncommon, but I prefer putting cash in a machine. When you pay cash you aren't committed to using a certain amount or making sure you have the right amount on your card. I really avoid these places do to this. Back in SF you can go to the Musee and it's a cash business. That's more my style. Next time my husband said we're skipping the Buffett and eating here or the steak house. Though once he sees the prices of the steak house, we'll be coming here for a burger.

Rob is the best!…read more When you live in a rural area where Uber is few and far between, you rely on local taxis to take you home after a night out drinking. Hang town taxi makes you feel comfortable because they are decent local people driving you home (or wherever). When you call and the driver says "is that the big blue house with lots of stairs?", that makes you feel special! And then when you get into the car and he remembers you gave him a bottle of Jagermeister 3 years ago when you went home from a white elephant Christmas party!!! That's LOVE!!! Hang town taxi will ALWAYS be my go to whenever I need a ride. And I don't mind waiting when it's a super busy night (like 12:30am January 1). Thank you!

Part of the communication was to confirm the return and return time knowing that would be the most important part of deciding to go via taxi rather than drive. After our meal we texted to confirm the previously agreed pick up time only to learn there would be over an hour wait. Given that all was closed on Main St. and it was pouring rain, we were lucky the restaurant owner let us stay long enough to call Lyft which arrived within 10 min of our call. HTT's customer service response: hope you enjoyed Lyft. No apologies. This level of service and service recovery is why Uber and Lyft replaced taxi services. Right now competition is limited. We stayed in a cabin as part of our CRA membership and had a tent for extended family. The cabin we stayed in was older, but it was still a wonderful time. Our kids made a movie with the ghost town scenery in the background. It was one of the best family trips we've taken. It's an hour from Lake Tahoe. We paddle boarded on the lake one day and explored. On another day, we drive to Emerald Bay and hiked. We ended our trip with water rafting with MotherLode river center. In response to some of the criticisms: Perhaps the staff listened and adjusted, because we found them to be friendly and helpful. No creepiness observed. If you have unrealistic expectations about camping, the dirt on the paths will annoy you...camping may not be for you if this is the case. Despite this, the pool, bathrooms, and cabins were super clean. Staying in a cabin here, still qualifies as "glamping." Wifi didn't work well for us, but AT&T has decent service up there. There are more activities from Thurs to Sunday morning. Bring mosquito repellent. There is a Costco and grocery store not too far away if you are planning an extended stay. We definitely plan to return!
