Rob is the best! When you live in a rural area where Uber is few and far between, you rely on local taxis to take you home after a night out drinking. Hang town taxi makes you feel comfortable because they are decent local people driving you home (or wherever). When you call and the driver says "is that the big blue house with lots of stairs?", that makes you feel special! And then when you get into the car and he remembers you gave him a bottle of Jagermeister 3 years ago when you went home from a white elephant Christmas party!!! That's LOVE!!! Hang town taxi will ALWAYS be my go to whenever I need a ride. And I don't mind waiting when it's a super busy night (like 12:30am January 1). Thank you! read more

My husband and I were in town for a wedding. Neither one of us had stayed in Placerville before. Only driven through getting to and from Tahoe. Once you enter the town you quickly realize ubers aren't a thing out here. Thank goodness for Hangtown Taxi. Looked them up in the city yellow pages. Phoned a day ahead to request two separate pick up times. Dispatch was polite and booked us for the requested time slots. Drivers were prompt on both occasions. Town cars were clean and comfortable. Both drivers took credit cards and the transactions were breezy. Only reason I can't give five stars is due to the semi-scary drive to the wedding venue. The driver said it would be faster to take a shortcut through the mountain. I didn't mind taking the long way but he didn't offer- just drove us through this mountain backroad which was super narrow and windy. Long story short, the drive was harder than it should have been and gave me the worst nausea and back pain. Wish the guy would have asked us instead of chosen for us. read more

It started out well. Jen arrived exactly on time as ordered on line. Communication was good through text messaging. Part of the communication was to confirm the return and return time knowing that would be the most important part of deciding to go via taxi rather than drive. After our meal we texted to confirm the previously agreed pick up time only to learn there would be over an hour wait. Given that all was closed on Main St. and it was pouring rain, we were lucky the restaurant owner let us stay long enough to call Lyft which arrived within 10 min of our call. HTT's customer service response: hope you enjoyed Lyft. No apologies. This level of service and service recovery is why Uber and Lyft replaced taxi services. Right now competition is limited. I had to drop off my car for repair work a 2 mile ride from home in Diamond Springs. Called to tell them when I needed the ride. The man told me they wouldn't /couldn't book in advance for such a ride but I could call them AFTER I dropped off the car. No other choice so did just that. This time he tells me I'd have to wait 30-45 minutes for someone to come get me. Half hour later the car shows up. Nice young man drove me home in one piece. My one comment other than the wait in my broken car for the ride was that the driver did not wear a mask. As 71 year old woman at high risk, I always wear one outside the house. In these times of Covid, a tiny confined space in a car with a stranger with no mask felt very unsafe. When i need a ride to pick up my car, I will not get in if the driver is not wearing a mask. Not for his protection but to safeguard his passenger: ME! read more

Used them for a couple of years. Service declined. Final straw was a NO SHOW for a confirmed pickup of my 75 year old mother at SMF. Instead a female driver called who sounded either hungover or high from the DROP location. Total mess with zero compensation. Never again. read more

DO NOT CALL Hangtown Taxi for service! My friend made arrangements for Hangtown taxi to pick us up at the airport 12 days in advance. The driver gave us his word when he dropped us off, that he would be there upon return from our vacation. We even received two confirmation texts two hours prior to our arrival to confirm. But as we were taking off in the plane, with seconds left until no cell service, my friend received a text that the driver would NOT be coming! What? OMG! We had no way to contact anyone from the air and live over an hour away. So when we landed at the airport at 10pm we had to find someone to get up out of bed and pick us up! We didn't get home until after one in the morning because of Hangtown Taxi. I've never had a worse experience with any business and this is probably as bad as it gets. Don't risk it friends! Follow up: Unbeknownst to me, my clients called Hangtown Taxi for pick up. And surprise!!.... Hangtown Taxi was late!! My customers almost missed a VERY important event because of Hangtown Taxi, but we ended up driving them ourselves and all was well. Follow up 2: The owner actually had the nerve to ask me to remove my review. What she should have asked was "what can we do to make it up to you? ". Take this advise and you will go far Hangtown Taxi....you're welcome in advance. read more

Never responded to request. Very unprofessional when you need a ride. At least respond to a customer that you can't come or something.

The owner's wife emailed me a year later to let me know that my review was ruining their business. She asked me to remove it and she would send me a check for the 10 dollar change he did not have?!? What the ?!?! Really a year later? And why would you only want to give me 10 dollars? I paid 40 for a 12 dollar ride. It's obvious this taxi company knows nothing about customer service. If I could give it ZERO stars I would. read more

I live a ways east of Placerville but got stuck in Folsom and needed a ride home on a holiday, so no El Dorado Transit bus service. I called Hangtown Taxi and got a quote of $100 and a reasonable approximate time they could be there. OK, I'll be waiting. They came about the agreed-on time and drove me home, charged $90 -- no complaints. I've used them a couple of other times around Placerville and always got good, courteous service. Sometimes you have to wait; that's the nature of the taxi business -- they can't always predict when a previous ride will take longer than expected. About the only gripe I have is that I needed a ride home from the hospital one night at 3:00 a.m. and couldn't reach them by phone. When I called their listed number, I got an answering machine message that I *think* gave another number you could call. But the woman that recorded the message talked so fast that I couldn't understand what she said, and certainly couldn't understand the number (I'm hard of hearing, but don't usually have problems understanding phone recordings.) HINT: Hangtown Taxi, please have someone that speaks slowly and clearly do your phone recordings -- some of us can't hear very fast! (Of course, that might mean you'll get more 3:00 a.m. calls...) read more

This company said they would pick me up if I paid ahead of time. They were supposed to send me a link. It took 30 minutes for them to send me a link. I paid ahead of time... and then they said they only dispatched the driver after we paid. So it was an hour. When I questioned the time frame. The owner cancelled our trip without asking or acknowledging. Very unprofessional in text messages.. cursing at us and calling us drunks... do not use this company. Please make them lose their business and fail as a company all together. read more

The driver (owner?) Jen was kind and helpful on a rough day. While there was a steep minimum as I was stuck way out of town, she took me to the grocery store, waited for me, offered information and helpful tips about the area, and gave me no time limit in the store without increasing her fare. She was really great! read more

This company is the worst ever! Asked us to pre pay to pick us. Paid and then they canceled on us because they stated we were rude because after an hour of waiting we questioned their time frame provid We didn't say anything until after you refused our service! And never once did you say it was out of service area until after you canceled. Still horrible service! A true professional would not respond in such an unprofessional way to a yelp review. I hope you loose all your business to Uber Someone sounds bitter! Continue to try and defend yourself on yelp. You're making your business look even more professional! And maybe you should state when you prepay it's due to being out of service. We can't all read minds! read more

Called for a ride to the airport - 24 hours in advance- taxi never showed up!!!!! Called to se if they were on their way - they forgot us !!!! Dispatch said "oops be there in 20 mins" Doesn't work when on a schedule!!!!!Never again! read more

We called them for a ride to the airport. Cody was very nice on the phone when I called to get information-he matched the price I gave him, so we gave him a try. We scheduled over a week in advance; he showed up right on time, clean car, loaded us up..I then gave him arrival info for 2 weeks later; HE called ME when we landed in Seattle to let us know of his arrival time at Sacramento! Now that's service! He was waiting for us at baggage claim... It all went without a hitch... Greatly appreciated! read more

Terrible communication on part of the dispatcher. After we schedule a pick up and get a quote with price and time the dispatcher calls us back later and asks us if we don't mind splitting a cab. We say okay splitting the cab assuming we would be splitting the fare. They say it will take a few extra minutes. Well, 10 minutes turned into over 20 minutes. When we get picked up, turns out we aren't splitting a fare and simply picking up a "relative". So we waited longer for no reason. Along the ride the driver and relative talk Bout picking up drugs along the way after they drop us off. We get to our destination and we go to pay and they tell us their credit card machine is down....no advanced notice. So then they have to drive us to an ATM to get cash. Not only are they wasting their time but ours as well. Won't use this taxi service again. We at least got to our destination safely... read more

Best taxi in town !!!! Ive used just about all the taxis in eldo county and this is by far the cleanest and most reliable. Stephanie came super quick to pick me up both times I called hangtown. Very nice on the phone...no long waits like with other taxis ive experienced . Great company and cheaper than expected. Will definitely use them for all my taxi rides. I just can not even explain how happy I was with my service this evening.. So very happy that I just installed Yelp so that I may brag a little about it! Hangtown Taxi service was amazing. Thank you so much for what you are doing. You are keeping people from killing people with these vehicles & helping to make a safer environment for our precious babies. I wish I could remember the name of my young driver who sacrifices his own social life to keep our kids safe... Please. It's so worth the couple extra bucks to not land in jail, or maybe much worse. They have very fair rates & loving people behind these wheels. Priceless. A++++++ read more

New to town and had to get to the hospital - no one home to drive me and I was unable to drive myself. Stefanie was early to pick me up and early again to return me to my house. Professional, friendly and great experience. Will most definitely use HangTown Taxi again and definitely recommend! read more

These guys rock! After I called Lightning Taxi and received terrible service I called this company and they took care of me! They not only took us where Iweneeded to go but came back and got my group! Great service very friendly totally recommend them! read more

I had scheduled an early morning pick up to take me to the airport. 10 minutes after the appointed pick up time I called and the driver said she was on her way. 15 minutes after that I called again and she said she was finishing other fares and was on her way. I cancelled because I couldn't trust she was actually on her way. I scrambled at 4 am in the morning and got a ride but almost missed my flight. I had the return scheduled with them, they never contacted me to apologize for the pick up error and to see if I wanted the return. I courteously canceled the return, mentioned their error, and still didn't get an apology. I wanted to support a local service but not only will I never book with Hangtown Taxi again, I tell everyone I know to stay away. My response to the response from Hangtown taxi on this forum...Hangtown Taxi never contacted me by phone or by email apologizing for the mistake. They had both of these methods of contact on file. On the fifth day into my vacation I did contact Hangtown myself and I cancelled my scheduled pick up at the airport for my return date. This is just horrible customer service on top of a missed appointment. read more

Being in the Service Industry myself, I'm not one typically found going online to publicly complain or bad mouth a Business. That being said, I'm also a Professional Traveler, and have been for over two decades, nationwide. And so when it comes to Personalized Service Staff -whether it be Hotels, Fine Dining, Transpo, Security, etc. - I'm rather meticulous as to whom I happen to view as Favorable, and Trusted. In order for this Level of Perception to be decided by me, they must first win my Respect, and that occurs only when I can gauge a clear and discernable line of Professional Business Conduct: Consistently. ...and this is how impressed I am with Hangtown Taxi. Cody and Stephanie are wise beyond their years, extremely courteous no matter WHAT time of day or night it is, and always manage to find a way to accommodate my constant Travel Requests. They're extremely fair, and never once had any issue with them/their Taxi Service. I continually Call and Ride with Hangtown Taxi nearly every day, and will do so for quite some time. BEST TAXI SERVICE IN PLACERVILLE! We used them everyday while in town. Super quick. Cody is the man!!!! Safe drivers.

Amazing! We worked with them to arrange for a whole day winery tour. Simeon showed up not on time, but early! Way to be prompt :) I like that. The car was clean and comfortable. Simeon did a great job carting us a around as we boozed. He was professional, had great taste in music, and didn't seem too annoyed with our backseat karaoke, hahaha. A++ experience. Thanks Hangtown, and Simeon! read more

I asked Hangtown Taxi what their charge was from El Dorado Hills to Sac. Airport. I was told $100.00 round trip. They also told my daughter the same price. I asked again for their charge and was told the same price, $100.00 R/T. They charged my credit card $200.00 and wont refund the $100.00. I talked to the owner on the phone and he was absolutely rude to me. He said " you go on vacation and spend thousands of dollars and now you want to quivle over $100.00." I asked if he was going to refund my money and he hung up on me. read more
