Within minutes of the cozy bar, I had thawed out, cheered up, and gone from storm victim to happy customer. I may have even hugged Jamie in gratitude. I always check yelp first for reviews on gluten free items (gluten allergy). Their flatbread had a gluten free crust option (+ $2) as did their pasta have gf option (+ $2) so nice selection. I had the chicken pesto flatbread without bacon. It was OK. Nice to have a gf crust, tho wasn't the *best* gf crust I've had. Nice/ ample wine selection. Daily happy hour from 3 - 6pm which was nice. Saw advertisements for bingo nights on Thursdays, which sounds fun and can win some wine related items. Staff was very nice as well. Came to hear the music, was nice to not feel rushed out or anything/ staff was very relaxed about us enjoying the table for a couple hours at the time while we had food and wine and the music. Would give slight caution that the caesar salad has bacon on it, which I have never seen before. I ordered the gf flatbread and there was an option to add a side caesar for $5. I did not read the salad area menu to know that bacon came on it. I don't eat pork and had asked for my flatbread to not have bacon and the salad to not have crutons if they put those on; wish the wait staff had mentioned the bacon on the salad bc I had already asked to have the flatbread without and also bc it's unusual imo to have it standard on a ceasar.

The Vine is in Old Folsom across from restaurants and bars, making it an ideal spot to possibly start a girls night or date night at if you wanted to walk around after. It's a cute cozy wine spot with a nice selection to choose from. When we got here it was initially empty but soon people started to trickle in. The worker was really nice, we were able to sample different wines, and he was helpful in answering questions we had. The inside is clean, there's bar seating, tables, a small couch area, and seats in the window if you wanna people watch. The wine we tried was really good, I really liked their more tart white wines and the sparkling blue champagne. The inside was also nice and air conditioned which helped with the hot weather outside. The day we went they weren't serving any food outside of salads but the food portion of their menu looked pretty good. This place was super cute and I'd definitely come again!

Thus cheered, we were seated quickly, even though we arrived without a reservation. Water, bread and menus came quickly. Perusing them to the background mix of contemporary mellow pop (think James Taylor and Van Morrison) and old standards, we decided on the petite prime rib for the carnivore (me) and sea scallops served over risotto for my wife. We each chose flights of wine to accompany our entrees. Despite including three wines per flight, the pours were fairly generous. Our dishes were perfectly prepared and came out more quickly than we expected, considering that the place was almost full. Our server checked back just enough and took care of any special requests promptly, even offering to exchange one of the wines (out of six!) that we didn't like for something better suited to our taste. The pace was leisurely which was fine given the good food and wine accompanied by the relaxed vibe of the live music. And the prices were quite reasonable given the quality of both the food and service. A dark-ish old school atmosphere added to its charm for us Baby Boomers, but even younger diners seemed to be enjoying themselves. As for us, we highly recommend it!

Dark ambiance, mostly all servers were smiling and seemed happy to be there. We were seated by a friendly hostess and our server greeted us by informing us about alcohol first thing. He came back with water and asked about alcohol again, we ordered appetizers first. He came back and asked about alcohol again and we said we were not going to be drinking and ordered our entrees. He seemed to be the type of server that gave more attention to you if you ordered alcohol, which I why we saw with all the other tables around us. Meatballs for appetizer- 4 count with the most delicious tomato sauce and ricotta layered under it. The meatballs were so tender (pork and beef) the flavor was on point. We wiped the dish clean of the sauce. It is undeniably the best meatballs and sauce I've ever had at any restaurant. I usually don't like meatballs and the marinara sauce anywhere because the meatballs usually lack flavor and the marinara is too tart. The ricotta cheese pair very well with the marinara sauce. Whole branzino over mashed potatoes- spectacular dish. Head and tail on of it doesn't bother you. The dish is so buttery and flaky with the crispy skin. Skin was so flavorful with a hint of lemon juice over it. It was hard to find all the fish meat because it blended in with the mashed potatoes in the dark ambiance. Rigatoni alla Vodka with added Italian sausage- amazing dish. It was probably one sausage total. Ricotta on top was also a nice touch. House made focaccia bread, so soft and fluffy. I would definitely come back to try other dishes.

I'm always in search of the best of the best, and of the many cuisines I enjoy Italian certainly is at the top of my list. So when Vacanza was recommended, of course I'm going to try it! Friday night, 6:30 PM, and the place was empty. There literally were two tables with customers and that was it. The seating hostess asked us if we had reservations, and I didn't know if she was on auto pilot, or what, but it just seemed odd considering that 95% or more of the restaurant was literally empty. When she saw the look on our faces before we could respond she said oh don't worry I can find a table for you. OK then. It was a little offputting and definitely not welcoming. Once we were seated, we were offered water and everything was weird after that. We were trying to decide on our entrées, and the waitress came over to ask if we wanted to place a drink order and what appetizer did we want? We decided to go ahead and order an appetizer while we were deciding on entrées, but quite frankly in retrospect, it felt like a push for us to really order something because of how dead the restaurant was, which ultimately feels like a push for money, because once we ordered an appetizer, then the waitress said oh by the way, I can bring you some complementary focaccia bread if you would like. If it's complementary, why ask why not present that first and then allow us to take our time trying to figure out what we would like to eat?? The focaccia bread came out and it was this huge brick sized piece of bread. I don't know how many different ways to say horrible, but this definitely was inedible. It was hard, and frankly, it's almost indescribable as to what it tasted like. They presented a small plate with olive oil and balsamic which quite frankly, if we had decided to eat the bread, it absolutely would not have been enough. Yes I realize we can ask for more. At least I believe we could have. The appetizer that we ordered were the stuffed squash blossoms. These are my absolute favorite, and I had asked the waitress if they were in season because they're usually in season for a really short period of time, and she's made the comment that they're always on the menu. Which I sort of brushed off and I should not have. When someone from the kitchen brought the plate to the table, the comment was made about "make sure you enjoy some of the sauce at the bottom of the plate "first off, whatever that white sauce was supposed to be there wasn't very much and definitely not enough for the small expensive serving. The squash blossoms just like the focaccia, or absolutely horrible. Traditionally, stuffed squash blossoms are usually filled with ricotta cheese that has been seasoned, the squash blossom is filled, and they are quickly lightly fried. They are usually incredibly delicious. These were incredibly horrible. Yes I'm saying it again, because I don't know what in the hell was used, but it tasted like oyster sauce and there was nothing creamy or cheesy about any of it. When we were trying to decide what to do because we haven't ordered our entrées yet, and the waitress literally had been over three or four times in between all of this to ask us for our order, the taste in the smell of the food literally was making me ill. I took one for the team, and I said that we needed to leave and that we needed to pay the bill. (30.00 appetizer) The funny thing is, she didn't seem shocked by this How this place stays in business, I don't know.

The slider was a bit too spicy (it's not THAT spicy) for my wife which meant more for me. The fries were done just the way I like them. The meat was thinly sliced and deliciously marinated. The rice and the cucumber salad were very good and the stir fry vegetables were cooked perfectly with just the littlest bit of crunch left in them. Everything was delicious. Our server made sure that our drinks never got below half and our bill was promptly brought out as soon as the take-home box was delivered. The restaurant was very busy, but the staff was really hustling and we were in and out in an hour without feeling rushed. It is a brew house vibe and there were TVs tuned to hockey, NBA basketball and NFL Football. The crowd checked off every demographic. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find what looked and felt like a local upscale pub with a large bar with TVs and various tables scattered around. The bread crust had garlic baked onto it, and the dipping sauce was huge and flavorful. The Southwestern salad exceeded my expectations. It was huge! The chicken was grilled and blackened and cooked to perfection and served on a bed of fresh lettuce with black beans, chopped onions, and blue cheese with a spicy dressing that was fantastic. The dish was so good that I'm tempted to go back tomorrow night. If you're looking for a casual dining spot with a friendly local vibe and amazing food, Manderes fits the bill! I've eaten at the at all the local steak houses along with some of the best in the country and when Texas Roadhouse or Logan's, or other chains server a better steak, you need a makeover, a new manager or new purveyor of steaks. The lox eggs benny was solid. Overall, I will be back, if only because this is a nostalgic meeting spot for me and my friends.

All it needs is snow and someone making a life changing decision, bumping into a past love while shopping for a Christmas tree. Service is super friendly. Food came out fast - we came for brunch. The place was half full. Parking is free and I can imagine getting very full during special occasions and Holidays. Would I Come Back? Yes, but not for the french toast. I really enjoyed Fruit Salad listed in their Light Bites menu. This was special and I do not like yogurt at all. Comparisons - If you are a fan of Cafe Bernardo, you'll enjoy this spot. There are more choices - no board menu, it's a 6 page food menu and another 3 pages of drink specials. I had the french toast and in a blind taste test, I wouldn't be able to tell who made what. Your basic french toast - homemade tasting, but nothing so special to make you want to tell your friends. Classic French Toast (Grade B) Like I said above, these are just your everyday french toast. Not like a signature dish you'd find at Tower. With that said, they are good and taste homemade which isn't a bad thing. They offer this in a FULL $16 or a COMBO $22. The combo includes 6 toast halves, 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon or pork links. They do offer substitutions to make this vegetarian friendly, but since I was sharing with a meat eater, I just asked they put the meat on a different plate. I did appreciate the mound of butter on top and that certainly did help with the overall taste. Fruit Salad ($16, Grade A+) This was awesome. I avoid yogurt at all costs. Never been able to eat any of the brands straight out of the container. But I am so glad I was at the table to share this dish. I am never hesitant to try something and it paid off. Seasonal fruit yogurt, honey, raisins, and granola. Taste popped off the plate. This dish I would return for. Bottom line - fast and friendly service. Although the french toast was just a classic french toast, I would like to try their Maui French Toast which has flambeed bananas and macadamia nut in a vanilla batter. It's close to Regal Theatres so a fruit salad brunch before eating a tub of popcorn might be the better option.

FOOD we started with the chilled prawn cocktail. the prawns were fantastic, and the cocktail sauce was divine. we jumped into a cup of lobster bisque; which was something i was looking forward to. unfortunately, the soup tasted like a very bland tomato fish soup. ugh. it lacked flavor and i don't think there was hardly any lobster in it. major bummer! we go the surf and turf (with lobster), the rib eye, and mushrooms and brussels to accompany the steaks. TONS of food, which was nice (especially for the price)! both steaks were ordered medium rare; the filet was cooked as ordered and the rib eye was on the medium/medium well side. however, the major bummer with the rib eye was the menu states well marbled but the steak gas VERY fatty when you're paying $62 for a USDA prime, "well-marbled" (per the menu's description) steak, the last thing i'd expect is to describe the steak as more fatty then marbled. the sides were great; the garlic mashed potatoes with the soy wasabi sauce were incredible! SERVICE our server started out very attentive and progressively we saw him less and less throughout the night; waiting for the check, needing water refills, etc. i get that everyone has busy tables and the F&B industry is having a tough time, but dang. at a place like this, i'd expect top notch service throughout the dining experience!
