I honestly wasn't sure if my husband and I would ever come back to MILA after our first experience…read morea few years ago. We were in Miami for the weekend and had already tried some really great restaurants, so we went back and forth about coming here again. But I kept hearing great things about MILA and figured every place deserves a second chance. I'm really glad we did! We had a 10:30pm reservation on Sunday, September 6th and arrived maybe 5-10 minutes early. Completely different experience this time around. The hostess was great and we sat at the bar while we waited. The bartender was super friendly. I had a tequila shot and he recommended a beer for my husband that he ended up loving. We honestly didn't wait long at all, maybe another 5-10 minutes, before the hostess came to get us. We ended up sitting outside on the patio right where the show was happening, which was such a nice surprise. We had an amazing view, the DJ Lyla was right in front of us and the music was great all night. Our waiter was also top notch. He recommended some really good drinks and food and took great care of us. We had sashimi, sushi and the Chilean sea bass, which they deboned right in front of us. So good!! Overall, this visit completely changed my opinion from our first experience. Great service, great staff, food, music and atmosphere. I'm really happy we decided to come back. We're from LA and usually make our way back to Miami every couple of years. We're already talking about coming back for our daughter's 21st birthday, and after this experience MILA will definitely be on our list again. Glad we gave it a second chance!

We sat outside to catch the entertainment, though it was quite hot despite the fans (pro tip: aim for sunset to beat the heat!). The service was wonderful; our server was super pleasant, and the sommelier guided us toward a perfect bottle of Bollinger champagne. Food Highlights: * Starters: The salmon avocado maki was great, but the fried eggplant and zucchini chips were the real star-impossibly light, crisp, and unlike anything l've had before. * Mains: Flaky, flavorful black cod and perfectly charred, well-seasoned lamb chops, accompanied by grilled corn and Brussels sprouts. * Dessert: A beautifully presented birthday scoop of ice cream with fresh fruit. EXOTIC VACHERIN A delicious, high-end meal with stunning presentation. Portions are on the smaller side for the price point, but it's a great special occasion spot.

The millennial jams were flowing. Every dish was phenomenal. We had the scallion biscuit (very unique and delicious honeycomb and miso butter), burrata, fried chicken (wow - some of the best I've ever had), sweet potato (you HAVE to get this unique dish), and the cast iron pancake (best pancake I've ever had). Even with reservations they were a little slow in seating for a fairly empty restaurant (noon). Ordered drinks (tea $6 and coffee $5) then brunch. Seems like service coordination is very off. My spouse got the appetizer a good 15 minutes before mine. I had the biscuit, that was very tasty. The fruit, granola yogurt was good too. The main of crab Benedict was served, next although already cooled and the sauce a congealed. My main, after a good 30 minutes still had not arrived. Apparently a steak and eggs can be miscooked and they had redone it, never bothering to tell us. I did not try it there. Refills on the coffee were never offered. We took the steak and our cinnamon buns to go since we had been there long enough. The final kicker is they have an automatic 20% service charge in order to ensure the staff is paid enough. Seems like a business problem to me. Service was not up to that high of a standard. If you go during Miami Spice I hope they have figured out how to sequence the courses and get them to the table correctly while still hot.

We sat at the bar before being seated at our table and the bartender was very lovely and attentive. She got us waters, and then we were seated to our table. Did the Miami spice menu which had okay options but I definitely feel they could've done better with their choices. Very basic Miami spice experience. Nothing that screamed wow. The walnut shrimp was delicious and came with a good portion though! The pepper steak was good but again, no wow. The ube flan didn't give flan and again, it was just okay, no wow. Would I go back? Maybe, but not something I'd rave about

Mediocre Food, Insultingly Small Portions and Poor Service…read more Unfortunately, Komodo was a major disappointment. The food was mediocre--especially for a Miami Spice menu--and nowhere near the upscale experience we expected. After spending almost $400 for my husband and I, I would have expected more. The portions were insultingly tiny, with the exception of the chicken salad. The salmon tacos contained what tasted like salmon "paste," and each taco shell was barely two inches long. They were so ridiculously small that even our waiter chuckled. The "half Maine lobster" was about the size of a jumbo shrimp, with no claw. The main course came with no sides so for $65 jumbo shrimp that was it. If you actually want a meal expect to pay extra for "fried" rice that was super bland and churrasco 10 oz extra at $12. So my steak meal was $87 and for that I could have had a real upscale experience at Daniel's in the Gables with upscale service and food. The experience started poorly when the four of us were seated at an awkward, cramped table with no legroom. We were positioned facing outward instead of toward one another, making normal conversation nearly impossible. It was a very strange setup for a party of four. Also, it was very warm in the restaurant and I would have asked to adjust but at the look at the servers face and everyone else I was afraid to say anything that something would happen to my food. The hostess also forgot to give us the Miami Spice menu. As soon as we requested it, the waiter's attitude noticeably changed, and the service went downhill from there. By the end of the night, the restaurant was overcrowded, with a very young crowd pouring into the bar area, and everything felt disorganized and poorly managed. Miami Spice used to be a wonderful way to experience Miami's better restaurants. Unfortunately, this felt more like a complete rip-off than a special dining experience. Komodo did not deliver the quality, portions, service or atmosphere its prices and reputation suggest. They should not be participating in Miami Spice as they have no upscale food to offer. My only regret is I didn't take pictures for potential customers to see how terrible this experience was and food looked. This was highly disappointing,,,save your money.

The shrimp spicy mayo was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. Perfectly cooked shrimp (not overcooked like most places do) in a perfect spicy mayo sauce. Amazing! And the tastiness didn't end there! The Dan Dan Udon was out of this world. Fantastic fat and plump udon noodles in a spicy broth with a spicy pork and crunchy bok choy. The miso ramen was another wonderful dish. As was the Tteokbokki Rice Cake dish. This was a meal I will not soon forget!

Authentic Sichuan Cuisine & Incredible Fried Tofu!…read more Yue delivers authentic Chinese flavors in a beautifully decorated setting. The vibrant interiors, intricate floral murals, and gorgeous peacock artwork make the dining experience even more memorable. The Chinese truffle fried tofu was the star of the meal--easily the best fried tofu I've had in a long time! Perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside, yet incredibly soft, silky, and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. The contrast in textures was absolutely divine. The Sichuan boiling fish was equally delicious, with that signature mouth-numbing spice and wonderfully chewy potato noodles that soaked up all the rich, aromatic flavors. The Sichuan hot and sour soup was hearty and satisfying, generously filled with mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and tofu. Rich, tangy, and comforting. Everything tasted wonderfully authentic, with bold flavors and beautiful textures. A fantastic spot for anyone who appreciates traditional Sichuan cuisine. I'd come back for the fried tofu alone!

DO NOT GO HERE! Yue Chinese in South Beach is a major trap…read moreserving overpriced pre-fabricated food backed by predatory tipping practices and rude service. We came in with a group of 4. Average dish prices were around $30, which we didn't mind paying IF the food was cooked fresh. Sadly, almost everything tasted like it came out of a frozen bag: Pork Soup Dumplings: Lukewarm on arrival, skin was thick yet broke apart easily, no broth whatsoever inside, and the meat smelled off. Sichuan Spicy Chicken: Not real Laziji. They literally used cheap, fast-food-style chicken nuggets and fried them up. Boiled Beef: Clearly a pre-packaged frozen meal just reheated and brought to the table. Crab Meat Tofu: Oversalted and sitting in a puddle of water. To make matters worse, they added a 20% automatic gratuity onto our bill without any notice on the menu. Mind you, our server literally ignored us the entire night--we didn't get a single water refill. When we brought up the mandatory tip and lack of service, we were met with pure attitude: "It's like this everywhere around here, take it or leave it." Extremely disappointing food quality and appalling customer service. You are paying high-end prices for frozen meals and getting disrespect in return.
