Hubs and I decided to have "fun" tonight and order delivery. Can't believe we haven't had delivery since we've been married. We've been missing out. Red Elephant was the perfect place to have our first delivery meal. While our delivery was about 15 minutes behind, it was worth the wait. The delivery man was courteous and was gracious enough to stand at the door while I checked my order. When I called in the order, the cashier was patient and thorough. Our food cost, with our $5 tip, was $32. So, it was like dining in, cost-wise, but we enjoyed it from the comfort of our own home. We have enough leftovers for at least 1 meal (2 for mine since I had fried rice and pad thai). He only had spicy basil chicken. We would definitely order from there again and may even go to visit. But hey, why visit when you can get dining experience at the same cost at home (especially on a Friday night)? read more

I ate this elephant of a lunch one bite at a time. The small salad with peanut sauce was a nice surprise delivery after I'd ordered my food. Nothing fancy but light and refreshing. Ordered the Tom Gha soup and Pad Kee Mow with chicken. The soup was great and I highly recommend it. Very flavorful and literally good to the last drop, which I poured into my spoon to get. Chose the Pad Kee Mow because it wasn't something I'd had before. Would've gone with the Pad Thai, though this was quite good too. Love Pad Thai but you have to mix it up once in a while. This food here tasted like the average run of the mill Thai restaurant. I guess the lunch specials are good value but I'm not too sure if it's worthwhile in the end. I had the Penang pork, chicken pad Thai that was supposed to be shrimp, Tom yum, and Thai iced tea. The Penang gravy was a bit too watery and vegetables seemed like they were of the frozen variety. The pork was overcooked. The chicken pad Thai was ok but noodles didn't taste fresh. The Tom yum was like drinking coconut milk without any of the Tom yum seasonings. The Thai ice tea was actually pretty good. Overall, I was not very impressed with the food and will continue to look for decent Thai food in the area. read more

I ordered the coconut milk soup, per another yelpers review, and it was enjoyable. I was keeping a lookout for that lemongrass stuff that sneaks up on me. I hate that stuff. But this was yummy and the lemongrass was easily avoidable. I then ordered tofu pad thai. The sauce, noodles, egg, and pant were all very tasty, not too saucy. But really? 4 pieces of tofu? That's it? I should have gotten the tofu appetizer (8 pieces) and saved it to put in my pad thai. Maybe next time I'll order the chicken. read more

Definitely a great place to grab lunch or dinner with a friend or even by yourself. It is in the running for one of my favorite Thai places. Nothing crazy or super fancy, just good, inexpensive food. The curry was fantastic and of course my wife got Pad Thai. When you eat there they give you free shrimp chips, sort of how other places might give you free popcorn, which rally won me over. For appetizers they also do a great crispy tofu. GO HERE. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is alright. The price is right for the quality, which is just okay. I got the Num Tok, which had steak that was over-seasoned and very tough. It's hard to over-season something but this was actually kind of overwhelming. The first thing that hits you is the distinct smell of this place. It's not good. I almost left because of that alone. When you walk in, don't expect to be seated. Nobody greets you until you go up to the counter to ask to be seated. Once you're seated, expect one menu for the table (which hasn't been wiped down). The prices sound great until you realize it's because of the very small lunch portions. They didn't ask me or my coworker if we wanted salad or soup with our meal, so they just assumed and brought out one of each. The soup was so chunky and congealed that we didn't want to try it. Visiting Atlanta for a business trip, and wanted to try this play out after seeing all the positive reviews. Unpleasantly surprised in almost all aspects. 1. Roti - I'd give this a 3.5/5. It tasted good, but it was a very small serving. 2. Pad Thai (chicken) - I'd give the Pad Thai a 2/5 -this was an extremely disappointing dish. Very dry, lacked flavor, and overall poorly done. I loveee pad Thai, but I took a few bites and chocked down the rest 3. The service - the waitress was short, showed zero interest, and not friendly. I asked for a dessert menu and she brought the check lol. I truly believe that great service can help with poor quality food, but clearly that didn't happen in this case. I am an honest person, understanding of circumstances, and really not a food snob or overly critical. However this place missed on all marks, and I wouldn't recommend this food. I love Thai food. Found this one on Yelp. It's clean with nice ambiance. It's also spacious. Free parking included! However, the Pad Thai didn't make it for me. The ground chicken was actually minced white chicken and the noodles were dry. The veggie egg rolls were hard and chewy. It's not real Thai food. The Bay has the best food ever and I wouldn't expect a comparison to come close. The Pad Thai is still in the fridge. I was hungry but not that hungry. Red elephant is located in a strip with many other restaurants and fitness gyms nearby. The strip is extremely busy and with plenty of parking. I came to the red elephant after working at the Wellstar development center close by, and met with my brother and his fiancée for dinner. They had seen great reviews and little Bangkok was too far and traffic is no bueno at 6pm. The decor of the red elephant was on point! It's very beautiful and colorful, with a great door/main piece to the right side of the restaurant as you walk in, and wooden chairs. The contrast of color works well, and for a Thai restaurant, it was perfect. As far as the service goes, it was good. They were prompt in greeting me as I sat a little after my siblings, and had brought water prior. I always love this. For dinner we ordered the fried tofu to start, and I had the tom kha vegetarian soup. Both good, but not the best I've had. The fried tofu came with the a sweet chili sauce. And tom Kha had the traditional lemongrass mushrooms, and some different vegetables. The trend was consistent through dinner. For dinner I opted for the red curry, because I always get curry when I eat Thai lol. I chose the red curry this time, and I thought it was good, but I've had better. The waitress here didn't ask how Spicy I would want t. It came out mild. Also for the curry it comes with a side of white rice. The vegetables were al dente, and the chicken a little more cooked then I would like. Overall, this place is cute, and I would visit again for the convenience of it. I remember going to my first Thai restaurant in the late 90's. We drove pretty far into Buckhead to get there. The food was unique, and I liked the curry. It was different than the Japanese or Korean curry I was used to. I can't remember what the place was called, but I'm sure it's still in Buckhead. Back then, there weren't many Thai restaurants around in Atlanta. Now you can go to Thai places anywhere in Atlanta. I ate so much Thai food over the years that all Thai places started to taste the same. They were all decent, but it wasn't anything special. So I went to this place called Red Elephant Thai Cuisine. It's located in this old strip mall at Windy Hill. I didn't think it would be anything fancy. I thought it would be just another Thai place. Surprisingly, this place impressed me. It is a fairly new place--they don't even have their liqueur license yet. Normally, I don't care much for the ambiance and plating. But I want to comment on them. During lunch time, this place becomes a trendy, lounge-like place with house music playing in the background. The music isn't distracting and obnoxious like Ru-sans. It actually fits the atmosphere. On nights, they try to make it romantic by dimming the lights and playing easy listening crap in the background. I was a bit disappointed in that. I was hoping for some nice deep house. Also, the plates are the modern Asian, square plates and their drink glasses look like bongs. Also, they carefully plate their food instead of just dumping the food on the plate. Not only that, when you order a drink, they tie the straw wrapper in a cool, funky way. This attention to detail is an unexpected surprise at a strip mall Thai place. Since they're a new place and have no liqueur license, they are dead during dinner time (lunch time is a different story with all the offices around there). So their service is awesome. Since you're probably going to be the only customer there, they take care of you very well. So how's the food? It's great! I actually love this Thai place. Their sweet chili sauce is the best I've tasted. I actually thought they made the sauce themselves, but they buy it at some Asian super market. But that's okay. It's how you use the ingredients that counts. The ingredients themselves are used very well and are fresh. Most of their dishes are flavorful. My favorite dish is the glass noodle special dish. They don't have it on the menu, and they only offer it as a special. So make sure to pay attention to the waitresses' thick, Thai accents for the word, "glass noodle," when they talk about the specials. If they mention it, make sure to try it out if you're a Thai noodle lover. Their other dishes are decent too. Their Pad Zee Yu is great, and their curry is decent. I normally don't have favorite Thai places because you can get similar quality food at every Thai place you go to. And I don't crave Thai when I'm looking for a place to eat. But this is a place I would go repeatedly. My only complaint is that they are a lot more pricey compared to other normal Thai restaurants (unless you're used to fancy-smancy Thai places like Tamarind Thai or Nan). But since they're new and trying to get business, they have coupons! So with the coupons, this place becomes an incredible deal. read more

Inspired by a Talk thread investigating thai-hot in Atlanta, I lunched over at the Red Elephant the other day. I was happy to see these guys when they first took over this space. I would've much rather have seen a Vietnamese joint, but I'll take Thai too. I ate here quite a bit in the beginning, but it trailed off as of late. No real reason. OK, there's one. I'm a huuuuge lover of larb and nam sod and Red Elephant curiously has none on the menu. It's a strange omission that carries over to their dinner menu. Subsequently, this larbass tends to pass over The Red Elephant a little too quickly when determining lunch time destinations. But the desire for Thai and my own innate laziness combined this particular day for me to say Phuket, I'm going to see The Red Elephant. I ordered Basil Beef, Thai hot. They didn't hesitate a second or try to talk me out of it. Good. I hate arguing with servers. Granted, their acquiescence may have had something to do with my own Asianess (Oooo, he looks like he can handle Thai hot) or maybe the servers here are big fans of Yelp and saw the same thread I had read earlier that day. Complimentary soup came first. Unfortunately, it was hot & sour and not tom ka--the only time you'll hear me complain about my second favorite soup, hot and sour is when it's compared to favorite tom ka--but it was all right. Still, no tom ka soup for me. My entree came lickety split (TOLD you I'd work that phrase in there at some point) and yep, it was plenty spicy. I can handle heat pretty well, but this dish had me reaching for my pretty, yet irregularly shaped water glass often. (If only I could've had a beer...damned job and it's "no being drunk at the office" policies.) So, yes, Thai hot. However, the rest of the dish was just fair-to-middlin'. The beef was chewy and the sauce was, well, heavier than I'm used to with basil beef. Too bad. I can say that my pre-Yelp memories of their curry dishes are much more complimentary, so when I come back I'll have to re-try their curry. The basil beef, though, was hardly impressive. Thumbs up on the heat as well as the plating. The detail work was definitely there, but a disappointing dish combined with the absence of my fav appetizers leads to three and a half stars, rounded down to three. Why did Red Elephant get 3 stars rather than the 4 stars I was originally going to give? Well, that's because nearly everything I ordered (barring their four types of curries) seemed like it had the exact same variety of vegetables and then they just tossed in the meat. I know that isn't a huge offense, but it bothers me. Last time I was there I ordered a beef and red pepper dish and asked for it spicy. When it came out it had...wait for it...no red peppers, lots of green beans, and barely any spice. My mom ordered the fried fish with veggies, and it had the exact same blend of veggies and spice--only she ordered it mild. The flavors were good. The rice was decent. The soup beforehand was quite tasty (we went for lunch). But the entrees themselves were just a bit average. Now what was spectacular was the Roti, which is a peanut curry sauce served with pancake-like slices. Delicious!! So definitely try that and their red curry, which I have tried and love many times before with shrimp and with just veggies. But as far as their regular lunch entrees go, I think they are all kind of one note. But at least it's one tasty note, right? read more

Went here last night with the g/f and some friends to get our Thai on. Its stuffed in the corner of a strip mall, but as with my review of Tuscany I no longer discount places like this when they are in strip malls.. but I digress. The dining room was very bright, very airy, very open and has lots of viewing space to the outside. A nice touch that didn't make it seem stuffy and claustrophobic. We all decided to share appetizers since we were all hungry so we ordered the Roti with Curry Sauce and the Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce. Both were flavorful if not just a little lacking in the quantity department. The Roti said 8 pancakes, well, it was about 2 1/2 pancakes sliced into 8 wedges.. a little misleading and the Chicken Satay came out with 5 pieces but they were only about 4 -5 inches long and quite thin width wise. For dinner, we ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken. It came out nice and hot and presented well. The flavor was a little sweet, but I liked it and proceeded to devour my half pretty quickly. It was flavorful without being overwhelming to the palate. For dessert we had the fried bananas with coconut ice cream (can anyone type the word bananas without reciting Gwen Stefani in their head spelling it out or is that just me???). It came out in a very unique way, the bananas wrapped in an eggroll skin and fried to squishy banana-y perfection. The ice cream was nice and had chunks of coconut in it which was a nice treat. All in all a solid meal so I cant understand why the dining room was SOOO empty. We were the only ones there for the first 15 minutes of our dine. This place surprised me. I'm not sure what makes me say that. Maybe it was how quiet and slow it was? Who really knows, but it was a good surprise and that's all that really matters! I ordered my Thai norm: Tom kha soup and Green curry, both with tofu. I asked for the curry to be a bit spicier than the norm, even though it was already marked as spicy on the menu. The server didn't question it, but she did doubt my husband's ability to handle the additional spicy added to his meal. Ha. The curry was pretty great- like really great. I love Thai food and Red Elephant is one of my regular lunch favorites. I come to this restaurant for lunch at least once a week and will even stop by for dinner take out sometimes. I usually start with the spring rolls which are really good. I have had many entrees on the menu but my usual favorite is Pad Kee Mow with shrimp. This dish has large flat noodles, vegetables, basil and large deveined shrimp. I like this noodle dish because it's not sweet like Pad Thai. This entree is consistently delicious and the portion is always very generous. I also love that they are willing to make any order "medium" spicy for people like me who love spicy food but can't handle too much pepper. The service is always good and we're usually able to get in and out as long as we don't show up at noon. It's best to come at either 11:30 or any time after 12:30 for lunch. Expect to wait about 20 minutes for a table if you show up during the work week at noon. This is a great place to come for lunch if you work in the Marietta area and love inexpensive Thai food with generous portions. read more

I've given Red Elephant plenty of chances. My penchant for Thai food and the close proximity to work of Red Elephant, made this an obvious lunch destination. I've turned a blind eye to the awkward service, rude waiters, dirty fingernails of the wait-staff and long wait times. I've also tried to forget the one time I was eating there and my face started swelling up. Maybe I have some allergy issues...that's my problem. But the last time I went, I ordered vegetarian Pad Kee Mao. I clearly stated that I would like it vegetarian and specified to omit the fish sauce that is so prevalent in Thai food. Again, I was a regular here so this request was not out of the ordinary. What I receive is a dish dressed with a piece of chicken on top. I tell the waitress, she apologizes and comes back with a replacement plate that she says was freshly made less than five minutes later. Suspicious? But again, I give Red Elephant the benefit of the doubt. As I eat my meal, I find another piece of chicken. Clearly, they had removed initial piece of chicken and brought me back the same plate. For a restaurant to care so little about its customers is pretty daring. They're not going to be seeing another cent of mine and I urge anyone going there to be careful with what you order (especially if you have allergies/specific diets). read more

Our office orders from this place quite often. Although we each have our favorite item on the menu, I have to say that everything I've tried is delicious. Lunch hours are 11am-3pm. GREEN CURRY Green curry sauce with coconut milk, Thai herbs, bell pepper, kaffir lime, and your choice of meat. I always get mine with tofu, and medium spicy. For orders to go, the portions are perfect for me. The flavors are always really good and spicy is actually spicy, not American spicy. PAHD THAI The order is quite large but very flavorful. My co-worker orders it regularly. BASIL FRIED RICE I don't eat much fried rice but the flavors in here are hearty and delicious. There isn't a lot of basil but still a good dish. read more

They have the standard thai fair, a selection of curries, pad thai, pad kee mau. Red Elephant really shines with its specialty dishes. This place is a hidden jem in the foodie wasteland that can be Cobb Co. We dine here every few weeks and have never been disappointed. Good portions, fair prices, and great taste makes for a winning combination. Not a huge fan of their pad thai ( Little Bangkok is my base point for pad thai) but everything else on the menu we've tried is stellar.
