On the downside, service was pretty slow when it came to replenishing towels and other basic items we needed during our stay. We also requested a late checkout, but unfortunately that request couldn't be accommodated, which was disappointing. Parking was another issue there's no assigned parking, and spots were pretty slim at times, which made coming and going a bit stressful. On a positive note, the views were definitely the highlight. We had a really beautiful view of the bay and the city, especially at sunrise and in the evenings it truly made the stay feel more special. If you're staying here mainly for the views and don't mind a few inconveniences, it may be worth it. However, better service and clearer parking arrangements would really elevate the overall experience.

Although the port is filled with shops there is so much you can do by walking or taking a taxi. My family and I ventured out of the port on foot to explore St. Thomas historic landmark Bluebeard Castle-made by the Danish as a watchtower for the island in the late 1600's-it wasn't too far from the port, as my daughter said. My family and I felt safe walking the streets of St. Thomas, there were sidewalks and crosswalks throughout the island. I would say if you want to go see Bluebeard castle, which is free, I would recommend taking a taxi, because you have to walk up an extremely steep hill, I felt like I was going to fall backwards. However, if you are up to the adventure please bring proper shoes, water, and sunscreen because you are going to need it. Although I was exhausted, the walk was worth it. The castle is made out of stones with blue vibrant windows and the view is outrageous, definitely a picture perfect moment. I believe the castle is actually a resort, with rooms guests can stay in and there was also a restaurant, but my family and I just walked around and enjoyed the experience, no one asked us any questions. When visiting Bluebeard castle we were only able to see the outside of the castle, but it still was worth the walk, because my family and I were able to see more of the local side of St.Thomas. However, we did not see any restrooms, so please make sure you go beforehand. If you are ever in the cruise port of St.Thomas or just visiting the island I would recommend seeing Bluebeards castle or even stay at their results. The recommendation I would make is to take a taxi unless you are physically fit to walk up an extremely steep hill. Not sure the next time I will be back to St.Thomas, but when I return I would like to visit Bluebeards castle again.

The location of the hotel is great- close to the airport and walkable restaurants and shopping options close by. The Charlotte Amalie area is slightly more city-like than a laid-back island vibe. But I'm used to Baltimore & DC on a daily basis, so it was chill enough for me without feeling like I was too remote from food, shopping, and entertainment. The hotel itself is slightly dated, but in an endearing way. It's clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pool area was perfect for lounging. The room was tidied up and restocked every day. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but we had a few drinks at the bar and Cynthia was very helpful. It's not super bougie or lavish, but I enjoyed my time here. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll definitely stay here again when I book a last minute St Thomas trip.

I was so embarrassed staying here that I refused to send pictures back home of my accommodations. You will wait several hours for your room no matter when you arrive despite the room attendants working ALL DAY making up the rooms. Everything is very dated and if you can imagine, no drawers in the rooms to store your clothes! I had to lay my clothes out on the other bed, thank god I was alone or they would have remained in my suitcase. Despite their listing, you do not have access to the beach! The entire complex is gated and armed security walks the perimeter at all times. When I was talking with one of the locals, I told him where I was staying and his only response was "why?" He told me not to go out at night and that the red light district is right behind the hotel. I only booked here because my airline credit card offered many miles for my stay, 15,000 to be exact. At least the house cleaning staff and maintenance were pleasant to deal with and the pool was well maintained. Again, the place was dated to say the least, maybe it was something when Christopher Columbus stayed here? Don't do it!

The views are simply breathtaking, and the property is immaculate and beautifully maintained. We enjoyed walking through the gardens and landscaping, and the pools are pristine. I especially appreciated the dedicated children's pool, which is perfect for families. The on-site restaurants offer great dining options, and the location is just a short ride into town, making it easy to explore. One of the highlights of our trip was taking excursions on the stunning Lady Lynsey catamaran. I've done both the Maho Bay Snorkel and the Sunset Dinner Sail to St. John--both experiences were incredible and I highly recommend them! The staff is warm, attentive, and truly elevate the experience. We can't wait to return!

We were greeted by Denise, the very personable and cheerful owner of the hotel, who showed us to our room. She even carried our bags! LOL The room was nice, compact, and had everything we needed for a few days. The A/C worked great, a BIG deal in the summer! A small, but well rounded continental breakfast is served downstairs every morning. Good coffee and a selection of healthy small bites to get the day going! The hotel has very nice common areas, and fun to sit and visit with other guests, many of whom were repeat customers. It was always nice at the end of a long day to return to our super comfy room. We also met several of the staff, all equally as welcoming and warm. Denise and her staff were all so helpful with suggestions for restaurants, places, activities, any thing you needed. It's always nice to get a "local's" advice in such situations! Our only regret was never getting to meet Denise's husband (Dave I think). He was always around, fixing things, running errands, etc., we just never bumped into him. We hope to do so on our next stay! We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel! It's the only placed we'd stay on STJ!

Resort/Merchant Error I was double charged by the resort the day before my flight home. I don't think the resort cares or understands the amount of working hours and monetary sacrifice that goes into planning a 5 day all-inclusive trip here. I spent a good 3 hours with my bank, Sugar Bay's Anna, Laurel and Lissa trying to square things away. They needed me to sit with them while I called my bank since their software isn't sophisticated enough to see they charged a customer twice. So that morning on my all-inclusive trip I wasted at a small kiddie like table, killing my battery instead of enjoying the beach and sipping a rum punch. I figured I'd get some sort of compensation, voucher for an activity, or some damn breakfast because we sat there for so long but nope. All Sugar bay could tell me was they didn't know how this happened and most likely was their merchant. Aesthetics (Property) St. THOMAS IS GORGEOUS. Step outside and plants, trees, sky, the smell of rum and even those pesky grecos is amazing. Sugar Bay has a manmade beach but it works, and if it doesn't there's a ton of beaches you can travel to since you chose to stay at the cheaper resort. Like I've seen in other reviews there is construction taking place. It's an eye sore but they weren't really loud and only saw them in one spot (next to my room ofcourse). The newest owner is animal friendly so there's a bunch of cats around mainly on the steps by the pool. Aesthetics (Room) My water in the room (618) was the color between mustard and dirt. I let the water run for about 10 minutes and yup still had dirty water ready to contaminate me with whatever bacteria was floating around in there. I let the front desk know and they suggested I email reservations. Emailed Camille Aubain from reservations (Resagent1@sugarbayresortandspa.com) on 10/15/16. Then was instructed by the front desk to send an email to Chris (Reservations@sugarbayresortandspa.com). Neither one of them responded nor did anyone from their team. Also, don't come here expecting wifi because there is none. Staff performance The staff here is beyond friendly and accommodating! Especially Jennifer at the front desk, the bartenders, Executive Chef Peter, Chef Anthony, Jermaine, and all of the awesome ladies/gentlemen at the restaurant. I liked them all so much I almost want to go back (Almost but not). Feedback I can't stress enough that I would not stay here again. I would not recommend anyone else to stay here unless you planned to just eat, drink, and store your luggage here. Next time I'll spend a little more and stay at one of the other resorts.

He kept asking the other staff to deal with us, and complained about "slave labor". It was quite offensive. Finally after over an hour... we got our room. Room 425. Room: Security insisted on walking us to our room. I'm not sure why. To get in the room they give arm bands rather than room keys. The room was cooled down which was nice.
