This was our first time staying at Bluebeard's Castle Resort, and we spent a total of 4 days there. Overall, it was an okay experience with some clear pros and cons. On the downside, service was pretty slow when it came to replenishing towels and other basic items we needed during our stay. We also requested a late checkout, but unfortunately that request couldn't be accommodated, which was disappointing. Parking was another issue there's no assigned parking, and spots were pretty slim at times, which made coming and going a bit stressful. On a positive note, the views were definitely the highlight. We had a really beautiful view of the bay and the city, especially at sunrise and in the evenings it truly made the stay feel more special. If you're staying here mainly for the views and don't mind a few inconveniences, it may be worth it. However, better service and clearer parking arrangements would really elevate the overall experience. read more

My family and I recently took a cruise on Norwegian Jewel. One of our ports of call was St.Thomas in the U.S Virgin Island. Although the port is filled with shops there is so much you can do by walking or taking a taxi. My family and I ventured out of the port on foot to explore St. Thomas historic landmark Bluebeard Castle-made by the Danish as a watchtower for the island in the late 1600's-it wasn't too far from the port, as my daughter said. My family and I felt safe walking the streets of St. Thomas, there were sidewalks and crosswalks throughout the island. I would say if you want to go see Bluebeard castle, which is free, I would recommend taking a taxi, because you have to walk up an extremely steep hill, I felt like I was going to fall backwards. However, if you are up to the adventure please bring proper shoes, water, and sunscreen because you are going to need it. Although I was exhausted, the walk was worth it. The castle is made out of stones with blue vibrant windows and the view is outrageous, definitely a picture perfect moment. I believe the castle is actually a resort, with rooms guests can stay in and there was also a restaurant, but my family and I just walked around and enjoyed the experience, no one asked us any questions. When visiting Bluebeard castle we were only able to see the outside of the castle, but it still was worth the walk, because my family and I were able to see more of the local side of St.Thomas. However, we did not see any restrooms, so please make sure you go beforehand. If you are ever in the cruise port of St.Thomas or just visiting the island I would recommend seeing Bluebeards castle or even stay at their results. The recommendation I would make is to take a taxi unless you are physically fit to walk up an extremely steep hill. Bluebeards and I have a long history. When I first visited St. Thomas in 2004, this is where I stayed. It was a no-frills kind of place back then -- but it always had a really unique history and awesome vantage point of Charlotte Amalie and the ocean. If you go today, I am pleased to report that they have some newly remodeled rooms (Hilltop Villas) that are really nice. These are quite spacious, have a large bathroom, and a kitchenette. Overall, a great place to stay while exploring the island. With that said, it is possible that some rooms/areas of Bluebeards are not remodeled. I would make certain you do not stay in one of those areas. Several years back, I stayed in a very old part of Bluebeards and it was absolutely terrible. So, as long as you make sure the reservation is in the remodeled part, it's pretty good. I cannot speak to the quality of the restaurant or pool. The pool appeared to be fairly small though. Also, there are some little island issues that you might run across such as wild chickens and dogs wandering around. In other words, this isn't a completely insulated Americanized resort like you'd see over at Marriott or Westin. Overall: I can recommend Bluebeards with the caveat that you stay in the renovated sections. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at Bluebeard's Castle. The property has buildings dating back to the 1680's (I think), and is situated to overlook the harbor. All the views were great. They have a descent restaurant on site, and the staff were helpful and friendly. From an accessibility standpoint, for people who use wheelchairs, they have done their best to make this property accessible. There are ramps, lifts and elevators all over the place, but the property is still on the side of a mountain, and certain parts of property can be tricky. I did not see a lift for the pool. If you rely on a wheelchair or have difficulty walking, I'd be sure to talk with them because there are some rooms that will be easier to get in and out of than others. read more

I would strongly discourage anyone from booking this hotel. When we arrived, we were assigned a room that wasn't even in the main building. We had to drive to a separate area to find it, and once we did, we discovered that reaching the room required going down four flights of stairs. My husband had a broken foot and was physically unable to navigate that many stairs. I immediately called the front desk and was told there were no elevators anywhere on the property. This was never disclosed during the booking process. Had we known the property was inaccessible, we never would have booked this hotel. After explaining my husband's injury, the only solution offered was for someone to help carry our luggage--which completely missed the issue. The problem wasn't our luggage; it was that my husband could not physically get to the room. We immediately found another hotel that could accommodate his mobility needs. I called the front desk to let them know we would not be staying. They asked if we were leaving right then, I said yes, and they instructed me to leave the room keys on the table. When I asked about a refund, I was told we would receive a full refund. Instead, we were charged for all three nights. I disputed the charges with American Express because we never stayed at this hotel. We booked another hotel that same evening and left immediately. During the dispute, I learned the hotel claimed that we stayed all three nights. That is simply false. We never stayed in the room, never spent a single night at the property, and left immediately after realizing the room was inaccessible. The lack of accessibility information was bad enough, but what has been most upsetting is that we were told one thing by the hotel and then they represented something entirely different after charging us. I expect honesty from a business, especially when resolving an issue like this. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel. read more

PROS: - amazing views of the marina and city of Charlotte Amalie - Hotel units are equipped with a kitchen to prepare your own meals - staff can pick you up and drop you from the lobby to your hotel room with the golf cart. Our attendant Tevin was great - pool and hotel restaurant are open late -the hotel restaurant was surprisingly very good! -there's a small convenience store near the lobby to get snacks and essential items CONS: - This hotel is located on the top of a very steep hill. It can be dangerous going up and down especially if you don't have the proper footwear. - cabs to get down the hill are expensive. The worst part about this place isn't the experience itself--it's the people running it. Jay and Lisa seem so miserable in their own lives that they make it their mission to take it out on paying customers, especially if you're a person of color. They blatantly favor white guests while treating POC with dismissiveness and hostility. You'll notice most good reviews are from the white guests. The energy here is toxic, the service is indifferent, and the attitude is downright nasty. Instead of creating a welcoming environment, they rule with pettiness and bitterness. It's almost sad to witness--two people who clearly have no joy trying to suck it out of everyone else. The hotel manager actually had the audacity to call them "one of his best employees"--which says a lot about his standards. Then he contradicted himself, claiming they were a separate entity, but rather than taking accountability or apologizing for the constant complaints, he made excuses. Meanwhile, other employees admitted they receive complaints about Jay and Lisa every single day--so it's not just me. I visited last May and assumed they were just having a bad day, as they were clearly butting heads. This time, I realized--it's not just a bad day, it's every day. And speaking of things that never change, Jay is still rocking those itty-bitty shorts like he's auditioning for a 1980s aerobics video. The real tragedy? The chicken legs he insists on showing off while strutting around like he owns the place. Maybe if he put as much effort into customer service as he does into airing out those drumsticks, this place would actually be worth visiting. I will be doing a dispute through my bank to handle this situation. The hotel itself is centrally located but on a mountain. The terrain is HORRIBLE! If you don't rent a car, you will have to take a taxi EVERYWHERE due to all the shops and activities being at the bottom of the mountain. Taxis can become very expensive! Again, the staff are not helpful in assisting with navigating the island or customer service. The resort is not family / kid friendly. I spent 5 days and 4 nights at this resort. From the outside appearance, this resort looks aged and in need of being modernized. The staff, rooms, and the spectacular seaside views are truly the golden key to this resort. The day before check-in, I called the resort to see if an early check-in was possible; check in is at 4:00 pm, and flight was arriving at 1:12 pm. I was told that I needed to check with them once I arrived to see if my room was ready. Upon arrival to St. Thomas, I went to the resort to see if by chance the room was ready or would be ready before 4 pm. The staff on duty at the lobby was friendly and professional. The room wasn't ready yet but she did my pre-check in paperwork and said that she would call when it's ready, and all I would need to do when I returned was pick up my key. I never received a call. I returned to the resort at 3:45 pm. The original staff member was not there but another staff member looked up my information and provided me with the key and room information. She was very helpful, cheerful, and professional. My room was on the 3rd floor of the Hilltop Villas. My room was clean, spacious, appealing, and had a tropical/island feel to it. It had a big balcony with a fantastic seaside view. There's a kitchenette with a standard size refrigerator, microwave, and stove top. The cabinets were packed with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. My king size bed was so soft and extremely comfortable. I ate at The Castle Grill twice. Once for lunch, and the other for dinner. I also ordered occasional drinks. The food was good but could've been more flavorful. The alcoholic drinks could've been better. I was looking forward to karaoke night on the Tuesday, but it got canceled. The live band on the Wednesday night was great! I danced a lot and had a wonderful time. The pool and hot tub were clean and looked inviting, but I did not use the pool or the hot tub during this visit. I went to a nearby beach instead. The patio was extra large, I enjoyed sitting outside watching the boats come in and out. My only complaint is that the outside ice maker did not work. Let me just say that the bar staff was all incredibly nice and friendly, but the front desk staff basically cancels out any good. First off, there were about 4 or 5 people behind the counter and not a single smile amongst any of them. The whole vibe was one of disinterest. Hospitality clearly doesn't matter at this place. The (and I use this term loosely) resort sits up on a hill and is a confusing mess of buildings, dirty stairwells, and old elevators. You'll need a ride on a golf cart to get to/from your room but plan accordingly because it takes forever for one to arrive. The rooms are recently renovated and nice. Avoid rooms on the ground floors because you really can't open your curtains because people can see directly into your room and as a solo female traveler, it was weird and felt unsafe. The place is overrun by roosters so be prepared for a 4am wake up. read more

We started out on the wrong foot here, since we could not get an early check-in after finally arriving early to a timeshare trade for once. Then the time to check in came around and our condo still was not ready. We did not get to check in until a couple of hours after the 4 pm check-in time. After that, things got better. Our condo was great with an awesome view. We did have to request some more wash cloths and they were right on it. Any other hiccups we encountered were fixed quickly. The bed was not as comfortable as I would have liked but I padded it a little bit and fixed the issue. The shower curtain was not quite wide enough, but we made it work. The staff was great and the pool and hot tub were very nice with a nice bar right in the pool area. The restaurant at the complex served pretty good food and drinks and made for an easy way to get a meal. read more

I was extremely disappointed in room 415 at Pirates Pension at Bluebeard Castle. First, there is no safe way to walk to the room from the lobby or pool area. There are no sidewalks, and the room is a good distance away so you must call for hotel staff to pick you up with a cart. The cart staff stop working at 11:00pm so you need to be in your room by 11:00pm. There are 4 1/2 staircases to get to room 415 from the road where carts pick you up and drop you off. The room was a decent size with a pleasant view from the balcony. But it was not clean and needed updating. Fixtures were rusty and dirty, the refrigerator was not clean, floors were so grimy we had to keep shoes or socks on to walk around, the shower handle came off in our hands, insects in the bathroom cabinet. Housekeeping did not clean during our four-day stay. There was a broom in the room closet but no dustpan. No convenient location to dump trash unless you climb the four 1/2 staircases to a trash can. You must schedule a towel exchange though we did find a clean set of towels inside the bathroom cabinet with a good-sized cock roach. Pirates Pension boasts two restaurants which are poolside bars. One of the bars closes at 4:00pm. The lobby staff is disinterested at best. The person who appeared to be the primary cashier in the poorly stocked and overpriced convenience store is downright rude and spends much of her time on the slot machines. The employees who staffed the carts were kind but of course we were tipping them two to four times a day. I do not recommend Pirates Pension and particularly not room 415 or any room in bldg 400 which I believe is the most remote bldg at the complex. read more

First of all, this is nowhere near a "resort." These are studio apartments (timeshares) that are rented out to the public. Yes, there is a convenient store and a small pool with a pool side cafe/bar open 7 days a week but the only actual restaurant on site, called "Restaurant with a View" is only open Friday-Sunday, which was extremely disappointing. ESPECIALLY since we got there on a Monday. Thank goodness we rented a car and could go elsewhere for food. Second of all, THERE IS NO HOUSEKEEPING. Which means, you will have to make your bed, clean your bathroom, take out your garbage, etc. They do offer a "towel exchange," which is supposed to be available until 9 PM. They tell you to put your dirty towels in a laundry bag then hang it outside your door and call the front desk to request clean ones. One evening we got back from the beach and requested a towel exchange at 8 PM. By 8:30 PM we still didn't have any clean towels, so I called back because my husband and I both wanted to take a shower. The lady at the front desk said they wouldn't be able to refresh the towels until the next morning!!! We woke up the next morning at 8 AM and by 9 AM we still didn't have any clean towels (13 HOURS LATER)!!! I called for the THIRD time and we FINALLY got some clean towels. Third, they are VERY cheap with the toiletries. We paid for 5 nights and they gave us 2 small rolls of 1-ply toilet paper so we had to call several times for more, which was pretty humiliating. Every time we called for a towel exchange or more toilet paper it felt like we were being an inconvenience and it was a VERY uncomfortable feeling. The second to last day we were there we took some toilet paper from the nearby beach, just so we didn't have to call the front desk again!!! Fourth, this "resort" supplies tiny bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash, literally enough for 2 people to take 1 shower each. We didn't ask for more soap because we already received unfriendly service when asking for clean towels and toilet paper. Instead, we ended up buying the only soap they had at the convenient store (Johnson's baby shampoo) and used that for the rest of our stay. Fifth, there are so many stray cats, chickens and roosters. Honestly, it was pretty depressing. We fed them all everyday we were there. Oh and by the way, no need for an alarm clock because the roosters will wake you up bright and early! Sixth, Magen's bay is within walking distance but I wouldn't recommend walking there! The roads are so narrow and the people around here drive so fast! FYI: For those who don't know, you drive on the left side of the road here. Seventh, you won't be staying in the actual castle, you'll be staying in an adjacent building. The pro's: The view of the marina from the balcony was phenomenal but they put us on the ground level, so there were many bushes blocking the view. The kitchenette was stocked with plates, bowls, mugs, glass cups (although one had what looked like grape jelly on it), silverware, pots/pans, a colander and a cutting board. They also had a coffee maker, toaster, fridge, microwave and a small cook top. Considering the amount of money we spent, we expected A LOT more. Unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros and I hate to say it, but my husband and I were happy to leave!!! Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

However, on the other hand, the view from the hotel is not bad. The bad thing is that there are many different rooms and they have to give us one that is not large and have a wall outside that I couldn't take good pictures from patio. The room is good, clean, and things are great inside, but paying nearly 400$ for a night. The service doesn't worth it. HORRIBLE!!! We booked our room for 2 weeks, however, front desk made a mistake and we were give a room that was only available for 4 days (room 265 from Hill Top 2). We were made aware yesterday, because we called front seat for new towels. I do not want to imagine what would have happened if we wouldn't have called. Which means that we have to check out at 10am and wait until 4pm to get our new room (if one is available). This was the solution of management. Which means we would be left without a room for at least 6 hours. This doesn't seemed to me like a solution whatsoever, because that means I would have to pack everything that we have brought for our 2 week vacation. I was so lucky to get to St Thomas this year and I stayed at Bluebeard's Castle resort which is located on the top of a hill in the most desirable area in Charlotte Amalia. The view is spectacular, most of the staff is really nice here. I liked the hotel. Good rooms with balcony and view for every room. Got a large pool and an ok size of hot tub. The bad thing is the pool right next to the eating area therefore I could use the pool because people were eating right next to it. Every evening something going on karaoke and something that you feel you're in a party. The location is great. I've seen lots of people walking up and down of the hill not having a veichle because basically the shopping area and restaurants are in walking distance. However it's a hike to get back to the resort. I rented a scooter to go around the island. Everything was okay with the resort experience the first and the last day. Surprisingly they asked $250 deposit, which was i gave in cash. First it was never mentioned anywhere I have to pay that much of deposit for an OK room. But here come the BOOM! ..... I've got a receipt they they got the copy of the receipt. The last they at the checkout I was told - - "thank you you good to go." - and how about my deposit? The lady acted like surprised. I told her I left $250 deposit in cash. -where is your receipt? They didn't give me my deposit without receipt and I'm not the guy who keeps the receipts. Hardly but I found it and I asked her how about if I wouldn't find the receipt I would not get the deposit back? And the answer came : - No! -unbelievable and the excuse is: " because you could be anybody". I told her "but I have an ID and you got the copy of the receipt with my name on it". Also I had the room keys and the booking trough a third party paid online for the hotel. The answer was: "you still can be anybody". They still don't have right to keep a deposit even if I would loose the receipt. It's not theirs it's mine. This ladies act and rudeness takes off TWO STARS off the resort review however Cornelius Douglass the resorts pier gets back an Extra Star for his kindness. This guy is a talented poet and performer. He made my morning with performing his poems personally to me on my first morning at this place. It just took a few minutes and makes people feel want be here and being grateful for being here. Through this gentleman you can experience the local kindness that fills up this whole happy island. Thank you Cornelius you're the Man! I'm glad I met you. Altogether the staying was good. Bluebeard's Castle is a timeshare resort atop a hill above downtown Charlotte Amalie. Badly damaged in the 2017 hurricanes it is now (Jan 2020) partially reopened. Rooms in the two open buildings have been completely renovated. Everything inside is modern and sparkling. The pool area is open but only for limited hours (daytime) because there is still significant construction work. No restaurants on the property are open yet. A small convenience store is open a few hours a day and serves cocktails at happy hour from a makeshift "bar" at the cash register. If you go understanding these limitations you can have a good stay because the rooms are so comfortable inside. Service at the resort is a mixed bag. Everyone at the front desk was so nice and helpful. The concierge/activities coordinator was a waste of space. She talked our ears off for 15 minutes about how knowledgeable she is, without conveying one useful, concrete bit of advice. We got great recommendations from the gals at the front desk later. The views from atop the hill are stellar. You'll need to go down that hill for everything, though-- food, shopping, sightseeing, beaches-- and going down means you have to come back UP to get home. Having a car may be cheaper than frequent taxi rides and easier than walking. read more

You know it's not good when you check in and get a warning letter that the water is brown - and no bottled water to assist. But the reason I give it one star is because the service was not friendly. The people they have working the front desk are rude. No smiles, no greeting. Upon arrival we couldn't check in until 4pm. We stored our luggage and killed time by the pool. When we finally got our room key, it was 30 minutes before we could get a bellman with a golf cart to take us to our room. We stayed in Hilltop II on the very bottom floor- it was really difficult to get down to, lots of steps. Would recommend asking for a higher floor. Right outside our balcony were cars parked right in front of us. The view beyond the parked cars was great. The room was very nice, remodeled and spacious. It had a kitchenette (but no easy way to get groceries if you'd like to cook). The pool deck and view were great. The food at the pool deck was good. The main restaurant was only open on weekends. The bar staff were friendly , but the check-in desk staff were not so friendly. They acted like they couldn't care if you were there or not. The (in)convenience store was only open from 8-11am, and the staff there couldn't be bothered. We would've liked to have been told the store was open for a minimum time because the resort is so isolated and there is no grocery/convenience store nearby. Nothing is walkable, so the front desk has to order a taxi for wherever you want to go. Bring cash, the taxis do not take credit cards. The stores and bars close at 4 pm in Charlotte Amalie. Overall the resort has done a good job of rebuilding after the hurricanes. No read more

We booked our 5 day stay at Bluebeard's Resort through Spirit. While we had issues with Spirit and a potential hurricane threatening our vacation, this resort made up for it. They accomodated our arrival and departure date change due to our cancelled flight. Our room was a Queen bed with a fridge, burner and microwave. Our bathroom had two sinks and was spacious, but the best part was the balcony and the beautiful views!!! I could have cared less about anything inside the room with the gorgeous views of downtown and Hassel Island. Up at the pool and pool bar there was an amazing breeze and you could watch the cruise ships come in and out. The bartenders/servers were always friendly. We ate breakfast one day, enjoyed a lunch, and hit up happy hour here. The food was fresh and prices weren't too bad for being a resort. We never tried the other 2 restaurants. Bluebeard's Castle itself was nice to take some pics, but it costs $10 to go in for the tour. We never checked that out. The resort was centrally located so at most, it seemed to only take 20 minutes max to get to the other sides of the island. Bluebeard's was a nice, affordable option and I would go back and stay again. read more

Beautiful view, spacious room, very clean. Love the restaurant and bar located on the property includes fresh seafood daily and pizzas. Breakfast served until 1pm if you are not an early bird. First time in St. Thomas and just loved Bluebeard's Castle Resort. The beds were super comfy, room was very clean and spacious. Views of Charlotte Amalie and the harbor were truly incredible. We stayed for a week and staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. From the lovely front desk staff, to the beautiful woman and her baby in the convenience store to the cleaning crew who went out of their way to help us carry our bags to the car, we could not have been happier. Beautiful pool, gorgeous setting overlooking harbor, convenient location close to everything and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend. They're working on getting back to speed after Hurricane Irma, but we had a great stay! Thank you very much! Would definitely stay again! read more

Have mixed feelings. Very nice renovation, room was great, fair price.... Great view of Harbor!!! Challenge... Restaurant... , hot and cold on this, great staff! But....doesn't open until 9 am for breakfast, simple menu of burgers and pizza at bar.. their nice restaurant has set simple menu and doesn't change.. ( gets old) ...tonight we were told can not seat you as they have party of 10 coning... and place was half empty.. So, $10 a person each way taxi down town for dinner. Because they could jot handle 2 more people for dinner at a half empty restaurant... So... all in...place for Ok, not very walkable, we walked several times...its a hike. Place is neat and clean.. Has on site market... gave up getting coffee or other... simply stated...they are too busy on calls and iPhones for customers.. frankly, felt I Didn't belong there...so stopped trying.. Next trip, not sure... maybe place less urban and better on site restaurants and walkable options... we like to walk. read more

Great Value & Beautiful Views. It's really hard to find a decent hotel in Saint Thomas, but if you are looking for an affordable hotel that's very nice, clean, with friendly service this is a great place. I would recommend getting one of the villas as they are very spacious and have use of the ocean. This resort also has a small bar next to the pool and is close to a lot of great places/ things to do on the island. I will definitely stay here again when I come to the USVI. read more

I consider myself a pretty understanding and flexible individual. But, this stay tested every ounce of patience in my body! Booking this "resort" was the easiest part of the entire trip. They don't hesitate to take your money but they're FAR from accommodating or pleasant once you're there. CHECK-IN: Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Don't get there earlier than that, because they will not give you a room until 4:00 PM. That said, when we attempted to check-in at 4:00 PM, we waited in line for about 30 minutes to only be told that the system "accidentally cancelled the reservation". The receptionist had the nerve to ask me "So, what do you want us to do?". Umm, I'd think finding another room, especially since I was already charged, might be the smartest option. One receptionist was overly talkative (and loudly talked shit about each person that checked in once they walked away) and the other one (who "helped" us) didn't welcome us nor did she say more than a few words when trying to figure out the reservation. We waited for an additional 45 minutes while they "worked it out" with reservations before finally getting a key and weird directions on how to get to the room. No welcome packet was provided but the girl said that we could check-out at 11 AM for the trouble that we experienced during check-in (please note: normal check-out is at 10AM). THE ROOM: You'll get basic accommodations like a bed, a microwave, a refrigerator, an ironing board, and a tv. You can tell that the place has been recently-ish renovated but it definitely wasn't clean. The floor had visible dirt all over it, the ottoman had a dried white substance down the side, the shower had yellow stains on the floor, and the towels had the same yellow stains but reeked like urine. The phone didn't work (so we'd have to call the 800 number anytime we needed help) and there was a panel that leaked puddles of water near the front door. THE EXPERIENCE: The policies are ridiculous. And, remember I mentioned the receptionists? Well, they were RUDE and UNFRIENDLY. Our room key was deactivated on the 2nd night because what they DON'T mention at booking is that they may require you to change rooms, depending on whether the Owners decide to show up or not. We asked for new towels, they said they couldn't give us any. We had to keep asking! We asked for help since the leak was spreading in the entrance, they said they'd send someone (who never came). We, again, had to walk to front desk to ask for help to fix THEIR damaged plumbing. We asked for a late check-out, they said "no, and we actually need you out in 15 minutes because sometimes Owners check-in on Sundays and you can shower in the gym". It was only 9:30 AM! We asked for cabs that rarely came (which isn't completely their fault) and they never enforced guests to wear masks because they rarely wore them. They loved, however, to talk about their martial affairs and talk shit about guests as they walked through the lobby. Lastly, and most shockingly, housekeeping came to our room while we were preparing to leave and asked for the sheets from the bed to wash them. Not a big deal, right? Except, THEY ONLY WASH THE TOP SPREAD, NOT THE ACTAUL SHEETS. How gross?! We were there from Thurs-Sun, spent almost $1k for the room, and hated every minute of this "resort". The best part of the "resort": leaving. If it were not for the wedding that we needed to attend, this trip would've been cut short! OVERALL: Save yourself the potential hassle. The views were AMAZING, but not worth the expensive disappointment, especially since you can get views from anywhere on the island. We wished we would've paid a little more for the Marriott or Ritz because this was a scam! read more

First and foremost, this is a timeshare property. So, most likely you are staying here under that assumption. Just had to say that first because that should adjust your expectations for various reasons, meaning there is no daily housekeeping for example. #1 most important tip: You MUST have a vehicle if you stay here. You will not be happy without one, due to this resort's location. Taxis don't come here unless they are called to, and it's priced her person. It's basically located on it's own mountain, and the terrain is extremely hilly, vastly spread out, and is not safe to walk from here to anywhere due to the lack of sidewalks, narrow roads, and constant blind spots for drivers. The check in process was quick and easy, and it's hard not to notice the openness and the amazing views from the lobby. Resort staff weren't really helpful or friendly, but they weren't terribly unfriendly either. I hated that we had to check out by 10am, yet check in wasn't til 3pm. I was given plenty of information upon check in, and informed that during our 8 day stay we would have one complimentary housekeeping day. The staff who's job this was, was almost hostile. She was very irritated she couldn't clean our room since we were still in it one morning. Her face dripped attitude when we asked her to come back in an hour. It was almost laughable. The rooms: Hilltop Villas II were decently equipped with beautiful views of the harbor. Keep in mind that all over the island are stray chickens and roosters, so they definitely were around the resort waking me up at 4:30am every morning with their constant crowing. The amenities: Several restaurants were on site. We only ate at one of them, at Cabana bar overlooking the harbor and pool area. The views were beautiful, but the food was mediocre at best. Banana Tree Grille was also located on the property, with "Island Elegant" dress code and extremely pricey food options. Room With A View was closed for the month of August. We never hung out or got in the pool, but it looked like a fun hang out. They had a small convenient store on site, and a really sad room with a sign labeling it a "gym." Nice views just about everywhere, constant security roaming by on their golf carts, stray cats, oh and of course the tourist attraction "Bluebeard's Castle" is right out front. It's more of a tower to me. Location: The closest beach is probably Morningstar beach, and course you have to drive there, about 10-15mins away. Two nearby grocery stores down the hill (Fruit Bowl & Pueblo) so you can stock up on water and necessities like liquor. Very close to all the shopping and cruise ship dock. But not really close to the nightlife or great restaurants. At least, none that close. Everything closes very early in this part of town. Parking is easy, navigating the property takes some time with all the one ways/driving on the left side. The best part of this property is of course, the views. And that's only if you got the better rooms.The patio was used a lot, but just remember the bug spray! :-/ read more

This location was on a provider list by American Airlines I'll call them as well to remove the recommendation off their list. The staff could not answer simple questions and after my stay I called 2x to ask for a copy of my receipt as it's imperative for my records. Very disappointed. read more
