By far the worst cab company in the west suburbs along with Blue Cab/Express Cab etc. Last year I ordered a cab from this joint to go to a party in Chicago mind you I live in elmwood park boarder of Chicago. The owner/manager calls me and says the cabs running 45-hour late he had to make a stop. When they promised me 10mins. I go ok I have no choice I wasn't going to walk to the bus with heels. So the cab eventually come hour and half later I was pissed at that point. The driver was a real moron telling me his personal life how his wifes older and they have a child. And he then turned into a pervert during the duration of the ride asking for my # and asking me questions I was about to run outta the cab but we were a block away from my destination. Then the man wouldn't except credit card cause he said he wasn't going to receive his tip. I refused to pay then just cause of your tip situation. Cause I had no cash on me. This cab company is a joke. I will never use them again even if they were the last company on earth. read more

Red cab used to be pretty good but lately it's going downhill. Drivers are rude, reservation lady takes reservations but not sure where she captures it, so when you land at the airport you find out that there was no reservation. Bad service all around. I'll have to find another service going forward that's reliable. read more

Horrendous service... I called at 12:17am on NYE...I was told cab service would be 1 to 1.5 hrs....which was ok, as it was NYE. At 1:12am I called again just to make sure all was ok. At that time a woman said that she had attempted to call my phone at 12:27am (10 min after I called) to tell me no drivers were going as far as Brookfield..I told her that there were no missed calls, and no voicemails...she informed me that she did not leave a voicemail. I told her that I had no record of her calling, she tried to pawn me off go someone less, but hung up on me. I called back, and talked to a male. He attempted to tell me that the female called 2x, again, my phone did not indicate missed calls. He was upset that I was challenging him and said he had no time for this. I understand it is NYE, but Red Cab is a service provider, and they stated that a cab would be there between 1 and 1.5 hrs...and they failed to provide that service. When questioned about their service, they were angry and defensive....not a company I will hire again. read more

I have really tried to support Red Cab over the years, and they used to be reasonably OK. At least 3 times in the last few months, however, they have provided absolutely unacceptable service--if any service at all. On one of those occasions, I made a reservation for 9:15, the cabbie apparently showed up at 9:00 and then left a couple of minutes later when no one came out to meet him. This morning, however, was the last straw. I made a reservation, again for 9:15, to get my son to school by 9:45 (an 11 minute drive, should not be a problem). I got a confirmation e-mail from the Company. At 9:30, my son called to say the cab had not arrived. I called the Company and was told they had "no record" of my reservation--despite the fact that they had sent me a confirming e-mail! Then they said it would take 15 minutes to 1/2 hour to get someone there . . . making my son half an hour late for school in the last days before finals. But that's not the end of story--they subsequently called back to say there were "no cabs available," and they did not know how long the wait would be. AAAUGGHH!!! Red Cab nearly wrecked our vacation before it even started. We reserved a cab for the airport and requested a minivan with two car seats. Red Cab confirmed the order by phone, and we reconfirmed before the day of the trip. Cut to 4:00 this morning and a sedan shows up with one car seat. We call the dispatcher and he is rude and says they don't have any minivans and are out of car seats. He suggests we all get in the cab with one kid sitting on an adult's lap and go to the office to get another car seat and then try to squeeze six bags and the whole family in the sedan. Obviously not great customer service to suggest illegal and unsafe options. The cabbie in the sedan said this happens all the time. So we're stuck driving our own car to the airport and paying hundreds in parking fees. Obviously never going to use Red Cab again. read more

I have lived here for 2 years now and really tried to keep trying red cab (travel for work) I have almost missed planes because of late drivers ... had my credit card over charged ... just don't do it... ask a friend to come get you... anything but red cab! read more

I should have read the reviews before I booked with these idiots. They are beyond RUDE, unprofessional and apparently don't know what their rates are. HORRIBLE return home experience and one day they are going to mess with the wrong person on the wrong day and the outcome will not be good! What a complete joke! Don't bother using this company - the reason I didn't Uber was because I liked the "comfort" of being able to make an advanced reservation. That's a mistake I won't make again. I called the dispatcher 10 minutes prior to my expected time and he said the car was on its way. 2 minutes after my taxi was meant to arrive, I again called and he said he was one mile away. After 10 minutes, I called again and he then informed me that no taxi was on its way and that he'd send someone now but it would be 15 minutes. As I was taking a cab to catch a flight and it ended up being nearly 30 mins late, this caused me a GREAT DEAL of unnecessary stress. The lesson learned: Uber won't let you down but Red Cab will. read more

I will not be using this company again. Used them for an airport run early in a.m. once and got a text msg to go outside only to find no one there. After waiting 10 min I called dispatch and the driver claimed he was there. 5 min later he sped around the corner. Despite the obvious lie and, since it was a relatively cheap rate, and to support my neighborhood taxi service, I decided to give them another chance a few months later and let them drive me home from the airport. I called and made a reservation two days in advance and then I called while I was at the airport on my way home to let them know the flight was delayed. I gave them the flight number and airline. When I got my bag I called and they acted like they had no idea I was being picked up. They made all kinds of excuses and said they would be sending somebody right away. That person never ever came so I took a regular cab home and called Red Cab in the car on the way to inform them and they never even bothered to to pick up the phone! Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me! Never again Red Cab! read more

My family and I have been using Red Cab for more than 3 years. I learned about them when my mother with dementia was attending an adult day care program, and they used Red Cab as their transportation method for the first few months she was there. They were always respectful of my Mother, and got her to and from day care very successfully. She could be a bit of a handful, but she was always smiling when she got out of one of their cabs. We had reason to use them again Christmas day when my developmentally disabled sister came for a visit. Our car broke down, and a friend was able to pick up my sister from her home, but we needed to transport her back to her home unaccompanied in a cab. We thought immediately of Red Cab. They came within 20 minutes, even though it was Christmas. The driver was courteous and respectful, and his cab was in immaculate condition. He got her there safely and in a timely manor. He cooperated with facility staff to help her get in the closest door. I was surprised to read the other reviews in yelp for Red Cab. I have had reason to see many of their cabs and many of their drivers in a several-year period and have had overall wonderful experiences each time. The cabs have been clean with polite drivers. I have never been overcharged, and will use them again when I need a cab. Theirs is the only cab company phone number stored in my cell phone. read more

I placed an order with this company to be picked up at Midway airport. The driver was on time and curteous. He got out and placed luggage in the van. The ride home was pleasant. They had a set price from Midway to my home. They called me to confirm my reservations and I also requested a child safety seat which was in the vehicle when it arrived. Wow wish I would have read the reviews first! Ordered a cab for 5:45 and we just got the cab now at 6:30! Called at 5:48 and was assured it would be just a few minutes. 45 minutes later finally shows up and the driver seems to be completely unconcerned and just stared at us loading our own bags. We've used Red Cab about 3-4 times, reserving a cab in advance for a trip from Oak Park to MDW each time. We ask for a mini-van. We've had a couple different drivers but they've always been on time, helpful with luggage, and patient while we put the carseats (3 of them) into the minivan. When I saw the negative reviews while looking up their phone number, I was was surprised and thought to post this review. read more

My driver was 15 minutes late for pickup. That was the difference between being on time and hitting rush hour traffic and being late. The car also smelled strongly of fumes. The driver had the windows open in the dead of winter...clearly we shouldn't have been breathing that in. Once I finally arrived at my destination, the credit card machine wasn't working so I had to sit in the cab for another 10 minutes while the driver reset the machine multiple times. First need for a cab from O'Hare Airport led me to this company. I was able to arrange for my cab to meet me at the Airport upon arrival. The Driver was courteous and very helpful. Dispatcher was pleasant, helpful, and we had no problem communicating. Price was on target, driver knew how to get around traffic and the cab was clean. In The Oak Park area, Blue Cab is the oldest cab service with the largest number of cabs. But Red Cab is far, far superior. Their cabs are better. Their dispatching is better, The drivers are more courteous and professional. Though it may take a slightly longer wait to get a Red Cab, it is well worth it, Hands down, Red Cab is the best cab service in Oak Park!!! I recommend it highly read more

We had relied on red cab for airport trips because they're one of the few in the area that can provide car seats. I was willing to overlook the time the driver showed up with the wrong size (a convertible forward facing seat when we hard requested an infant seat), maybe he was mistaken? But this trip we called 24hrs in advance to reserve a pickup at the airport with a car seat and we're stranded at the airport! The woman who took our reservation asked about what type of seat we'd need and all of our flight info and told us to call again when we had our bags. But even 30min after they were supposed to meet us, dispatch told us that they had no cars with car seats available and wouldn't anytime soon. Wtf?! Now we're stuck at the airport with an overtired toddler. It's illegal for us to get in another car without a proper seat and our home is not accessible via public transit. This is unacceptable red cab. Don't accept reservations if you cannot uphold your end. Traveling parents be ware. You cannot trust this company. read more

When I first discovered Red Cab it was all I would use! Liked it so much better than Blue Cab or Express. But I hadn't used them in quite some time and I guess their service has gone downhill. So I waited for quite a while, they asked me for my cell number so I figured I would get a call. After pacing around the parking lot I found him parked. I jump in and the first thing he does is start the meter, then he asks me for the address, which he should already have on hand. I tell him and he asks me how to get there, I tell him I don't know because I've never been there before. So he takes his time and punches into his gps, while the meter is running. When we approach my destination he asks me which house, did I not already tell him I haven't been there before. So I tell him I will just get out there. So I go to pay with my credit card and he has the nerve to ask me if I have cash. You have a credit card machine in my face and you don't want to accept my payment? So I payed credit, and needless to say, he got a crappy tip. read more

When I called them to schedule a pick up, I asked if I can pay by credit card, they said yes. The day before my scheduled day, I called again to confirm if my order still in their system, and if I can pay by credit card, they said yes. The cab arrived on time, but by the time I got into the car, the driver ask me if I can pay cash? I said his company told me, I will be able to use card. Then the driver said, his machine broken, (but he used it to print receipt afterI paid cash ), if I need use credit card, I must look for another cab. I lucky prepared some cash the day before, so I don't need stuck by the critical payment condition. Then the driver got a video phone call, he was talking with someone over the phone for a few minutes when he was driving. It's about 30 minutes from my home to the airport, he spent about 20 minutes texting by using multiple devises including cell phone, mini pad when he was DRIVING.
