    Huge Chocolate Eclair!!

Back tonight for dinner after some persuasion from my 7 year old who was dying to go & try the kids area. Still extremely busy due to just opening but loads of staff who seem able to cope under the pressure. Lovely outdoor seating, inside is split in 2, one kids section and one adults section. I think this is quite a good idea, it means if your in for a quiet meal you won't have kids running all around you. Menu is your standard Pub Grub, burgers, Curry, Combos etc as well as a Carvery, Salad Bar, Cakeaway and an Ice Cream counter. There's a huge bar with plenty of staff. It's order at the bar so the area is really crowded with people ordering food/drink. I went for a Carvery. Not much to say about it, standard Carvery that you would purchase at any of the other chains/pubs. Nothing special but nothing really wrong with it either. The other half had Crispy Chicken topped with Italian hard cheese & tomato sauce, chips, peas & garlic mushrooms. He actually really enjoyed it and said the chicken was still moist and flavoursome. My little one had from the kids menu, 8 chicken nuggets and chips. They weren't like the frozen shaped nuggets made from everything but chicken.... They actually had quite a nice batter & were real chicken breast. He scoffed the lot! The cakes are absolutely huge, but again you have to wait in a queue to get one which put us off tonight as it was just too busy. The kids area is excellent and well equipped with a TV, XBox x4, Machines, Baby play area and soft toys. Keeps the kids busy instead of running in and out of tables etc. Nice addition. Overall the food was ok, I wouldn't rush back but ok for a quiet Saturday night with a few drinks with the family. Nice local place for the nearby residents.

    The giant waffle breakfast.

It's cozy, crowded, and buzzing with life -- often standing room only and packed shoulder-to-shoulder with locals and travelers alike. If you're a whisky fan (or even just whisky-curious), do yourself a favor and try one of their Scotland whisky flights. It's like taking a mini tour of the country's whisky regions without ever leaving your barstool -- and without worrying about driving. The bartenders really know their stuff and are happy to guide you toward something you'll love. A quick heads-up: no football colors allowed, which keeps the atmosphere friendly and relaxed no matter who you support. And speaking of friendly -- the locals here are as welcoming as they come. This is exactly the kind of place where Scotland's famous pub culture shines. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, so you can sample a few drams without feeling guilty. Whether you're a seasoned whisky nerd or just looking to experience the local vibe, this is the spot. Pull up a stool (if you can find one) and enjoy a proper Scottish night out

This may prompt you to feel like ordering a drink. You are in good hands and they can totally recommend something that you may like. Their selection is so huge they don't have a menu, you just have to ask for your label or take their recommendations. Naturally, most of the selection is Scottish whiskey, but if you somehow prefer otherwise, (say you are a local tired of Scotch... or just want to reaffirm nothing beats a Scotch?) they do offer whiskey from other countries, as well as beer and ciders, as well as gin, rum and the like. They do offer pies and other bar food, but we went after dinner and just couldn't stomach more food, tempting as they may sound.

Our satnav had sold us a dummy and we missed the turning that turned out to be right where we were, and not 300 yards away as we were told! In reality though this place is literally mere hundreds of yards from East Kilbride - as long as you don't miss the turning. It's an old drover's inn so they say, and it does have an air of history about it. The real shame is that there is only a cursory attempt at a beer garden, it was a nice day but all they have is a handful of picnic benches at the edge of the overly-large car park round the back. It's nice inside though, plenty of old fixtures and fittings, although we were put in a small dining-room that had the least character of all the rooms we saw. It was quiet, only two more tables were occupied inside, and service was friendly and efficient. We both ordered exactly the same things, haggis bon bons to start and venison for the main. The bon bons were lovely and light, so presumably not just haggis, if there were only a couple more said the greedy me, but they had a great flavour and the whisky mustard cream sauce was about as good a "british" sauce as I can remember having. It packed a ton of flavour. The venison came served on mash and a gravy, and with a side of buttered veg. Again everything combined beautifully. The mash was creamy, the sauce flavourful and the venison was cooked perfectly medium-rare, it was soft and delicious. The veg was al dente as most cheffie veg is these days, presumably to keep the goodness in. There was almost nothing not to like as far as I was concerned.

Really tastey food and great staff and will make this one of our local places to eat....Thankyou…read moreLost Lamb our Date Night was made special!!!!!

He had booked the Mezzaine level which is a private area which accomodates 30 people. Now to try and book this is near enough impossible as it's always fully booked so I would book well in advance. You also have to lay down deposit, I looked into this a couple of years ago for my birthday but it was too much hassle. The meal was for 7.30 and I arrived about 20 past 7 but the main table was full and only holds 24, so the 6 left had to sit at tables for 2. My man and I felt really left out. Others felt bad for us and said if advertising for 30 it should be a table for 30, which I totally agree. It was a set 3 course menu for £19.95. The first course of soup was the only meal I enjoyed. Now I've been here many times for meals and always had a really good meal and experience. We were always served last and the waitress used our table to set down some of plates while she was serving. That felt awkward and horrible, we thought she was serving us but she was like "Oh yours will be here soon, just using your table for now while I'm serving." "Eh cheers!" And being last meant the food was cold. Was truly disappointed in my fav dessert of apple pie and custurd. Yuck! I think they had flavoured it was something weird too and it wasn't cinnamon, which I love. After a while people starting leaving so we were able to sit at the table later but we still felt like outsiders mussling in, so needless to say we didn't stay long. I prefer the restaurant downstairs, again you need to get in early to book at table or wait using a buzzer system. I also like the bar just sitting having a few drinks. The quiz on a Thursday night is ok but the DJ tends to talk to people he knows over the mic all the time, so you're getting a one sided conversation that you haven't got a clue what he's on about. Hopefully when I go back it'll be a better experience.
