S'mores and Nanaimo bar ice cream
Long K.

Tons of ice cream flavors. Although I think they would do a whole lot better if they cut down quantity and improved quality. THERE ARE NO SAMPLES...as all the signs serve to remind you that. Pick your flavors wisely. I couldn't discern any marshmallow flavor in my s'mores ice cream. No idea what a Nanaimo Bar really tastes like (sorry I'm not Canadian), but judging from the item description it tasted nowhere near that, the wifey hated it. The ice cream was relatively smooth, but I can't remember the last time I didn't want to finish one. Hey at least the signs say they accept U.S. currency too.

Frozen Fillets. Barf-o-Rama.

Unbelievably bad. It's just fish and chips and these guys have been doing it for 30 years. But when I went in the fish was frozen not fresh. The price was on par with fresh but the fish pieces were shaped. Chips were soggy. When I asked why it was a bit off the owner snapped at me "it's fresh!" and then walked into the back of the restaurant. Don't go. Don't waste your money. Try the Greek place across the street. Just don't go to Red Baton.

a sign that reads attention don't card users

Such a turn off, every single label has a label to remind you that they don't accept no credit cards. Seriously. Unbelievable. Is there a way to give no stars?

Red Baron.

You can't fake the kind of work and care this woman outs into making gelato, and her training by an Italian Gelato maker is like an unforgettable icing on that cake. And speaking of cakes, if you see the woman who runs the place baking one...it's COS SHE PUTS A WHOLE CAKE IN THE BIRTHDAY CAKE GELATO. The ice cream flavors and overall quality level are off the charts second to none. Love the innovative flavors. Coffee and beverages are great, too. Not many ice cream or gelato shops leave me feeling that way.

The…read morequality of the ice cream itself is okay - the texture is good, but the flavour is a little weak. When getting the matcha ice cream, I suggest getting straight matcha instead of the twist with vanilla because the vanilla washes out the matcha; it comes through better on its own. The sundaes are fun and a good, more affordable alternative to the similar parfaits at high end matcha cafes. I tried the tuna egg salad crepe and thought it was actually really good! The crepe was fresh and tender, there was a healthy amount of filling, and the tuna salad was actually mostly tuna with just enough mayo to hold it together which is how I prefer it. Again, the service is just through a window - you actually order at an electronic kiosk and the only interaction with a person is when your order is ready. There are two small tables outside if you want to eat there. During the busy summer season, it's very difficult to actually secure one of these tables, but there's other seating on the pedestrian streets just a few blocks away on Robson.

Liked how the parfait has different toppings throughout and the cereal added great texture. Green tea flavor was also good and I liked how it was not too bitter, which sometimes happens with matcha desserts.

The folks working there were kind and professional. They looked like wickedly good witches as they added natural ingredients to their metal cauldrons, and then added the liquid nitrogen, creating a rapidly rising fog. So, really, you are getting ice cream and a show! The concoctions emerged as super smooth, not too sweet, distinct fresh flavorful ice cream. It is a small shop with limited seating, so not likely to be a comfie sit down experience for you given how popular the place is, but it is easy food to take to go and a very nice area for a stroll. So, that's the scoop! ;)

We tried the ice cream sandwich, the creme brulee cup, and the s'mores bar. I would say everything was good, but probably not something we would get again. The next time I go if I ever go again I would just get one thing and share it because a bite or two is probably all you need to satisfy your sweet craving.
