My friends who grew up here were surprised by the small crowd, as this was a popular hangout for them. Turns out the Red Parka has new owners, and it appears the neighbors /locals are not happy. My friend was hoping for a steak. Apparently, that was a hot ticket item in the past. The staff was very professional and attentive. And the menu was above average. Though there was not a crowd, the food did take a bit of time, but we were catching up with our friends and it was fine. When the food came out, most of our dishes arrived on silver trays, which seemed odd. My friend was a bit taken aback by the changes. I guess Red Parka was more of a nice dinner option for people with plates and napkins. One of our party had salmon, so it was served a bit more formally, and overall they enjoyed it. My drink was actually quite good, but I was not sure about the margherita chicken tacos. They have a lot of seating indoors and a patio outdoors. They also have a bar area and provide live music. Second, the servings of food are not small. We noticed other tables taking their leftovers in to-go containers. Baby, we're not in Kansas anymore (NYC). And lastly, the food is so fresh and delicious--the menu changes seasonally and is sourced from local farms, of course! Apps: Pan seared scallops over homemade crisp potato cakes, fresh corn puree, and a red pepper coulis--divine. We had plans to order entrees for dinner, but the nachos ended up being huge and filling - and delicious! After waiting a bit to digest, we ordered the Red Velvet Cake for dessert to share. Red velvet is my absolute favorite, and I have to say this one was high up my list - my husband doesn't care much for red velvet, but even he really enjoyed this one. Next time we're here I'd love to try an entree and definitely get the cake again!
