I have had many red velvet cupcakes and they never tasted like red dye 40 because they didn't use red dye 40. It was a $4 cupcake so the use of a cheap dye makes sense. If you are sensitive to red dye 40, be awake this shop uses it and take appropriate cautions. The employee was nice but I got a vibe she didn't want to be there. It is a cute shop with cute cake designs but the red dye is something that will prevent me from returning.
