Rebecca's is a farce. Overpriced, very poor quality food. They draw you in with "healthy" "fresh" "locally/ethically sourced" posters, yet they do these products no justice. It seems that they want to advertise these things and then not actually put in the effort. My friend got fish that had definitely been precooked and then reheated for her- rubbery and tasteless. No side of veggies or anything, just the fish stuck on top of a sad pile of rice. It seems that most of the "a la carte" menu comes with either that or potatoes, and makes up most of the portion.
The jambalaya tasted like tomato paste without a trace of seasoning or, um, spice. The best possible thing you can get here is a freshly made sandwich for lunch. However, it will cost you $7.40 a pop after tax, so you might as well buy a full pound of nice deli turkey at $6ish a pound and make sandwiches for yourself for the whole freaking week. The ingredients in the salad bar always taste like a refrigerator- freezer-burnt and sometimes still partially frozen, and rarely rotates ingredients. Those are even more expensive, priced per pound, I think the average salad cost me around $8-$10 without dressing. All the soups taste the same- they seem to really only have three or four, and just advertise them under different names each week. The roasted corn soup became the roasted chicken (though both had chicken in it). All vegetable soups here taste like the actual embodiment of all the salty feelings I have toward this place.
The ONLY thing that saves this place is the breakfast. Good breakfast sandwiches, omelettes and breakfast wraps. Stay away from the "breakfast buffet" though, that's $0.79 cents an OUNCE. And that adds up fast. I accidentally paid $10.75 (which is entirely all my fault, I know) for the buffet and a lemonade this morning. I'd include a picture but I was too busy rage eating my actually tasty eggs while writing this review.
When it's all said and done- only come here if you want a fresh sandwich or breakfast in the morning. Otherwise, I would highly recommend driving five minutes, or even walking fifteen minutes to downtown Auburndale. Support more local businesses with much better food. I'd recommend Knotty Pine or bringing in your own food. Its definitely worth it. read more
