This company is as good as everyone has said. I called another company first that charged me $49 for a service call. The technician determined the carriage teeth were stripped, but would only replace the entire unit at a starting cost of $299. I called Real Garage Doors the following day. I was given a time frame of two hours and the technician was here within that time. Mike diagnosed, replaced only the broken carriage, lubricated the unit and was done in about 20 minutes for under $150. Happy to say that another great service. This time I went the whole nine yards. Mike started with a complete and detailed quote setting me up with all the options. I had my own brand new garage door opener which he had no issues installing. I ordered a new garage door (insulated) and heavy duty springs. I called Real Garage Doors when another garage door company wouldn't return my calls and texts in a timely manner. My garage door was not opening and closing smoothly. I suspect it was the garage door opener. I received a response very quickly from Mike, the owner. I had an appointment the same day and within 2 hours of the initial contact. Sunny, the technician, actually arrived at my house within 30 minutes. Sunny checked the balance of the door and the connection of the spring rod to the 8500 model opener, making sure the screws were all tight. He recalibrated the up and down limits. Sunny was thorough. In the end I was not charged for the quick service. I called the guy and he asked me to take a couple of pictures and send it to a different phone number. He promised that he will call back soon. I received a text after 10 minutes saying "Fremont, you can probably charge him good. Yo uwant it, not sure if he can wait or not. Didn's ask". Here is my interpretation: He asked me to send photo to someone else, a family or friend, in the same business. He told him my location being Fremont. He is suggesting they can charge me GOOD. basically rip me off if possible. Checking whether he wanted the job (and opportunity to rip me off). Next he indicates whether I, the customer, can wait or not. So, if you are smart enough, make sure you check why they are asking for the price instead of just agreeing to a lump sump. these people are waiting to rip us middle class people off. I have found these guys on Yelp and they gave me good bid on automatic garage door. I called few other companies but they didn't offer to come out and take a look. These guys came within a day or two. Gave very competitive bid and I hired them to do the work. There was a small issue after installation which the garage door was coming down instead of up when the sensor was triggered but they did come back and re-installed the motor so now when somebody triggers the sensor it goes up as it suppose to. This was not the typical home garage door. It was oversized commercial garage door. I would recommend them. read more

Initially very responsive when I called about my door not going down, even stayed in the phone with me to help me secure the door with a screwdriver so it couldn't be opened over night until he came to address the issue. That was on Thursday. Never called or texted on Friday, I reached out. "I dialed the wrong number by 1 number, sorry. I'm at a doctor appointment can I call you back?" Of course! No worries. No call. I sent a text later, he asked to reschedule for Monday, fine I guess (now 4 days with my door not secure). I texted and called Monday morning, no answer. I gave up and called someone else. I rarely make reviews, but I know it makes a big difference when finding the right people for a job that you have no clue on. After calling a few companies and learning more about the Torsion System and several quotes to compare. I knew what I needed and how much was reasonable to spend. It just came down to customer service. I needed mine to be soon as possible and Chris was the one that followed up. They offered free consultation which did save $$, so they sent Ernesto to take a quick look the next morning. I had a torque system that needed to be replace because it is old, but the motor (genie) was still good. He also informed me that after July 1st 2019 by law, that they are no longer allowed to install openers without back up batteries, which makes sense if there is a power outage situation. I could have saved money and kept our opener, but wanted an opener with WIFI and better lighting, so I requested the LIFTMASTER WLED from their inventory. Anything outside their inventory might cost more to install. I was able to set up an appointment the next morning even though there was an issue with where the product was and the time for Ernesto to pick it up based on his schedule would not be installed until the following week, but they made it work or mostly likely Ernesto did. I know finding the right company can be important but the person installing is also very important as well. I lucked out with Ernesto who was very helpful and friendly. I was able to ask questions as he was installing and learned about the garage system. He has been doing it for over more than a decade and you can tell he is very knowledgeable and hard working. The installers who are out there traveling from city to city, client to client trying to make it work and accomodating should get a good majority of the credit!!! It took about 1.5hrs like he said and I was able to enjoy a fast opening/safe/well lit garage door. Now the only annoying thing was setting up the WIFI which took a day to figure out. I initially thought it would be easy following the steps, but one wrong missed step can make it very difficult. I followed the steps 20+ times and I still couldn't connect. I tried calling Liftmaster customer service, but it was so shitty that I didn't even bother to call back. I really didn't have the patience. Now, I am stuck with a Garage opener with WIFI that I can't even use. I only wish Ernesto stayed a bit longer to help step up the WIFI, since he is conveniently there. It is such an advance product I am sure costumers would appreciate the extra help setting the WIFI connection up and a quick toturial using the MyQ app right away.
