I spoke to Juan, the owner, and asked about my Toyota Camry that was purchased through Carmax, and the extended warranty we also purchased. He is very honest, and very trustworthy. After I gave him the information, he told me to bring it in and they could get it taken care of. They found the source of the check engine light quickly, an evap leak which was a fairly easy repair, and took care of it in a timely manner. This is a very shady and dishonest mechanic shop. Juan will take your money and leave your car worse than when it came in. They will keep your car for months and come up with different problems along the way that require you to pay more money. He will promise to fix issues and won't fix them at all even when you pay him for them. He also likes to take original parts from your car and claims that they are not working so he just keeps them. Just got my car back from RCAR today. Had an overheating issue, as always Jake was extremely professional and always very nice. Honestly the reason I go there is Jake ( the owner ), he is reasonable with his pricing and has always been able to get to the needed repairs quickly. I have been a loyal customer for several years now and will continue do so . I went there once last year as well. I had picked up my husband from work and notice smoke coming from the hood. Freaked me out of course. Thankfully RCAR was right down the street. Even though it was close to or may have even been after his shop closed he helped me get my car fixed right then and there. Everyone I have ever met there has been great to talk to from Jake to the mechanics to the front desk lady ( sorry I don't remember her name). I would recommend this shop to anyone and have. ZERO STARS!!! First of all I DO NOT know how this place and Juan are still allowed to work on cars or have a business at all. My bf took his car in to get some work done. Once the car was "done" he went to pick it up and the car was still not working well. Turns out Juan Broke something in the process and now had to order a new part! THREE WEEKS LATER the car is still not fixed! Hundreds of dollars later and WEEKS LATER the car is still not functioning and now there is a bigger problem then there was to begin with. Juan DOES NOT answer phone calls, does not keep you up to date with the the progress on your vehicle and breaks parts in the process of "fixing" your car. He's shady and dishonest and needs to be put out of business! So now instead of the car being fixed we now have to shell out a couple thousand to fix whatever he intentionally damaged... YES I SAID INTENTIONALLY! I don't know if what needed to be fixed was even fixed, I don't know if he actually ordered the part that he first broke and so basically he stole money for zero work done to my car! I live in another city but was in Redlands for other business and decided to have the oil changed at a quick lube place while I was there. When it was time to leave (around 11:30 A.M.), my Jeep wouldn't start and I had to call AAA. I asked the tow truck driver if he could recommend a place that could fix it that same day so that I didn't have to try to arrange for transportation home. He made some phone calls and RCAR told him they would help me, so it was towed there. Juan, the owner, greeted me and assured me that they would do their best to get it fixed that day as long as parts were available. There was a box of donuts on the counter that became my lunch and he brought me a bottle of water. Thankfully, it was the starter, a simple fix, so I was able to drive it home that afternoon. But while I was sitting in the waiting room, I could overhear his conversations with other customers and people on the phone. I was impressed with his openness and honesty. His rates are reasonable and he warranties his work. Even though it's a 25 mile drive, I will return to have him work on my vehicles. read more

RUN!!! This location is terrible, and Juan stole money (when you claim to do work, collect funds and have not done the work = stealing) and car parts. All while lying continuously about their completed service!! I am highly disappointed. These people took my husband's car in; he paid them as asked, made multiple visits to his vehicle, and received nothing but excuses. They had our car from October 2021 until May 2022. We finally gave up and had to go collected our vehicle after it was clear they were not going to do the work. They apologized as they agreed that they did not move forward with the work that said they did. Ultimately they agreed to provide us with a full refund.... We are still waiting for this refund. Once we got the car back we noticed Juan even stole the gas tank out- they said they mailed it 3 weeks ago (I doubted as they provided no tracking information). It has been over a month now, and they are refusing our calls! Take note the reviews of failure to complete work are true and this shop is absolutely shameful. I will have to move forward in containing the better business bureau, claims court, as well as reporting them to the California BUREAU OF Automotive repair! I took my car to them. I spent $2000 to get some work done and ever since then it takes many try's to start my car. Juan said turn the ignition on a few times and then try. Well why should I have to do this! Ever since they did my timing! My car never had a problem starting. I took it in for a smog which failed because the check engine light is on which was supposed to have been fixed. My car overheated and they told me that they would replace the battery and cables, and I got my car returned to me, THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LATER with DUCT TAPE! No new parts! They also did NOT replace breaks after they charged me for the service. And, the cherry on top was stealing my owners manual from my vehicle and not returning it. I left this mechanic with more problems than I went in with. My engine was leaking, stuff was loose under the hood of my vehicle...it's absolutely horrible what they've done to my car. I was trapped in a year long cycle of my car needing to go back every 3 months to spend hundreds or thousands to fix it and leave with MORE problems! DO NOT COME HERE. He is a swindler. You have been warned. Most of these post are their friends, or friends of friends. I was told the cost for transmission service was a 149.00. I was later told by an acquaintance that they paid 120.00. I returned to see if he would bring it down. I checked at Jiffy lube and they charged 200.00. This old guy started telling me that they needed a kit to order, it was take 10 quarts figured in labor and brought it up 369.00. I explained to me that this was a very increase from earlier. He started to double talk and lie. This old man is also a jerk. A Mexican employee came into the shop through a door and he said something rude. "I don't need that now." I took my truck in after it overheated. I was desperate to get my truck running and on the go so I agreed to pay their expensive labor pricing. Long story short. I will never take any of my vehicles to this place again. They took 2 weeks to get my car back to me. I paid at least 3000 dollars only to pick up my truck and have it break down on me 30 mins on the road. I took my truck back very frustrated cause 8 expected them to take care of me. Instead something new popped up and I ended up have to buy a new part and pay additional labor. Even after all of that, my truck never worked the same.At the end of it all. This place is a typical rip off mechanic operation. They charged for an intake manifold and the part was $372 and the labor was an additional $300. I brought my car back 3 times and they didn't fix it at all. They never actually replaced the part. All they did was clear the check engine light and nothing else. They used a twist tie around the hose when I came back the third time and charged an additional $50. This is an absolute scam. read more

I am distraught and disappointed by the service I received from RCAR. The owner Juan lied to me about me sending my car into his shop with the windows down when I called him about them returning down. They were up because I towed the car to them with the power dead and the windows have been up while it was sitting at my house. He patronizingly insisted I sent it to them that way. The windows are now down, after being towed back, and the car supposedly has an electrical problem that won't allow them to go up. So, my car is in front of my house not running still, and now with the windows down. The car hasn't had any work done with wiring and has one owner which was my mom who always took the car to Toyota for maintaining. I had to contact them for updates, never received any. This was my first time with them. I sent my car in for a alternator change, ended up paying extra for a serpentine belt change Juan insisted on. He insisted the brake rotors be done too, but were done months prior. My experiences with RCAR were that of deceit and connivance. I don't write this with any malice, just really bummed out because I needed this to work out for me, and now my situation is worse than before. Took my civic to a shop I thought was fair because the brakes weren't working at all, the guys ended up telling me it was gonna be at least $1000 for a new ABS system and I didn't think that sounded right so I took it to RCAR for a second opinion and they ended up fixing everything for only $250 and had the brakes feeling like new again. Also got an oil change for my 320i for only $90 which is quite fair since other places wanted to charge $130-$150 for the same work. Don't trust these people at all. My car was running just fine. Went to them for a major tune up an all of a sudden I have a oil leak. Went back to them because my oil light wouldn't stop flashing an all they did was add more oil. Never jacked the car up to see what was wrong they just put more oil an sent me away.. a week later my engine blew. All this happened within a month. After the engine blew I took it back there to see what was wrong an all jake said was well why didn't I check the oil? Hello why would I need to check it if u just did a major tune up dummy.. point is don't trust them at all unless u want to car messed up. I found RCAR/Redlands Complete Auto Repair after reading reviews on other sites and get to them to a quote. They provided very good price for sparks change / timing belt change (my car is about 8 years old) and did the job great. Once they finished my motor was working smooth, purring like a kitty - really! So it actually get to a way how it was when I purchased a car. Next time I got another car broken (wheel lock) and immediately get it to them. They were able to diagnose it was not a wheel lock, but it was an ignition lock, which prevents me from changing MSU, keys, and wheel lock and saved me about $1000. They find the right issue instead of fixing possible other reasons. They give a choice to use aftermarket parts or parts from dealer - so it is your budget and you decide how to manage it. Most of parts they can get in 1 day, so I bring car to them in the morning and pick it up later at evening. And they give a ride almost immediately so I do not have to wait - that's great! And one more thing. They are not a chain of auto care centers where staff is changed frequently. They seems to be a private business and they dedicate a lot of efforts to deliver quality service. After I took my car to the Mercedes dealer for a tapping noise they told me they would have to pull the motor to figure out what the problem was. Gus and Jake of RCAR recommended simple and inexpensive diagnostic procedures before going to that extreme. Now days most repair shops want to give you the worst news and see how much you'll fall for then stick it to you. My car is still in the shop as planned but I know that it's in good hands.
