Just got my car back from RCAR today. Had an overheating issue, as always Jake was extremely professional and always very nice. Honestly the reason I go there is Jake ( the owner ), he is reasonable with his pricing and has always been able to get to the needed repairs quickly. I have been a loyal customer for several years now and will continue do so . I went there once last year as well. I had picked up my husband from work and notice smoke coming from the hood. Freaked me out of course. Thankfully RCAR was right down the street. Even though it was close to or may have even been after his shop closed he helped me get my car fixed right then and there. Everyone I have ever met there has been great to talk to from Jake to the mechanics to the front desk lady ( sorry I don't remember her name). I would recommend this shop to anyone and have. I wish I would've read these reviews before I took my car in. I had lights on on the dashboard and was told my anti lock breaks were going out. Job was done and the lights remained on. I took it back 2 more times and was told once I drive about 50 miles it would reset. Never reset and I still need to take it somewhere to have it checked out. I won't dare take my car back here and I'm out 1G. Scammers for sure. And for some reason there are only Spanish speakers working so if the owner isn't there you're just waiting around. read more

Very happy with my experience today! I got my oil changed for an amazing price and I got helped within minutes of arriving. I was early for my appointment but they took me almost immediately. This is a full service place and you can get so much more than an oil change! I'm happy I came early in the morning as the wait ended up being just about an hour. Try to schedule services with them if you can. I have two vehicles and my work car gets more miles than most so I'm happy to have a place to trust with value and expertise. Im a 72yr old widow, i took my car in for noises coming from under my car. Mr Nava told me i needed new parts for the front, i approved the work, paid the money and picked up my car. the car seemed the same, nothing had been touched on my car, according to another reputable mechanic. i went back to Mr Nava who refused to give me my money back or make any repairs, he said he did his job and couldnt help any further. i had just had heart surgery and use a walker, when i dropped off my car Mr Nava said he needed to keep my car overnight and that he couldnt help me with any transportation, so i had to take a bus to and from the shop, being on a fixed income this really put me in a bad situation and under alot of stress i didnt need. Juan repeatedly reassured me that he had a lot of experience restoring classic cars and could handle this job "no-problem". An extensive INVOICE ARD #00289228 was created & monies exchanged for deposit. After many months/ years of attempting to communicate with Juan, I realized that NOTHING that Juan had been telling me was the TRUTH, and he has been feeding me lies & excuses about the state of the project, and at times, would not return my emails or phone calls. I spent $7012.00 as partial payment, and now have discovered that my truck sat, untouched for 2 years, while Juan continued to paint colorful stories of the state of the truck and status of the project. I repeatedly asked (via emails that remain unanswered) for updates and pictures that would show progress of the restoration...which Juan could never provide! I recently picked the truck up exactly x2 years later, and was very sad and shocked to see that the truck is in the SAME unrepaired state as it was when I dropped it off in 2021. I have a 1971 Super Beetle Volkswagen and I am very particular about who works on it, as it's been in the family for 38 years. My dad and I built it and used to take it to car shows together. A friend of mine was taking her car to RCAR, And told me that Juan loved Volkswagens, knew a lot about them and likes working on them. I had been unhappy with my mechanic for a long time as things just weren't getting fixed. I took my bug to Juan. Not only did he diagnose several of the issues just hearing it as I drove into the parking lot, but there ended up being so much that needed to be done in order to make the vehicle road safe again. Juan took very good care of my little car while it was in his possession, did quality work, worked with integrity, and didn't give up until all the work was done and Juan approved " making it safe, reliable, and road worthy. My car has not sounded this good or driven this well in many years. I'm so impressed with the mechanical work Juan did on my bug. read more

The worst experience in car service I have ever had or heard of. The owner Juan Nava still owes me an outstanding refund of approximately $3000 for original parts that went missing from my truck, new parts that were never ordered or installed and service that was never preformed or completed. I have been battling with the owner Juan for over a year to get my full refund and parts returned or replaced. He has only provided a partial refund at this point. He does not deny I am owed a full refund but he always has an excuse of why he cannot provide the remaining refund amount. I am extremely disappointed in RCAR and Juan Nava. I initially had a good experience with one of my trucks being worked on at RCAR. I later discussed and planned the requested work in detail for my 1975 Chevy truck and drove it into RCAR before the pandemic started with the assurances that the work would take approximately 2 months. Over a year later I had to get my truck towed home with the engine in pieces and more issues than when I took it to RCAR. I was willing to call it a even if I got a full refund and my parts returned or replaced. But after giving him a more than generous amount of time and understanding he has failed to keep his word. I am in the process of reporting RCAR and Juan to the police, the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and any other agency I can. I highly discourage customers from this business! read more

I spent over $4000 on my 2009 rav4 at their shop and although they did fix most of my issues I had to return multiple times for the main problem that I still have issues with. The biggest complaint I have is how they told me I needed new brake pads not knowing that as a former mechanic brakes are one of the few things that I will always do myself. When I brought my car home I inspected the brakes that were as I thought almost new because it hadn't been long since I changed them prior. It's been over two years and I still don't need new pads. I would not recommend them in the future. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!! My daughter's Subaru overheated because the water pump went out and she kept driving it. After talking with the owner and being recommended from a local European mechanic we rolled the dice with them. I explained to him the car overheated and probably needed to be rebuilt. The owner was very arrogant. He acted like he was God of the engine world. Anyway, he charged $5k to rebuild the motor. When I picked it up I asked him about the warranty. He said if it makes any noises bring it in right away. Well...2 days later it started making a ticking noise. Called him and told him. He said being it in. He ran compression tests and said everything looks good! I explained it didn't make any noise like that before the engine overheated. He said we can't find the source of the ticking. It should go away in a few days he said. If not bring it back. Well...brought it back to him and he tells us the bottom end has damage and he's not covering it! $5k and you didn't even look at the bottom end?? WTH?? He refused to warranty or refund and was completely unprofessional!! He stole $5k from us and gave us a broken engine! I would stay far away from this snake oil salesman! My husband is a good person and was a great customer and this guy Juan has promised him money for weeks and not just hundreds of dollars. He says he is not a thief but his actions have proven otherwise. The owner is at first very "friendly" but that's just a facade; he is not an honest man. His shady business practices and unkept promises are just the starting point. I then felt comfortable to take my car in for a major service; little did I know, that this would be a turning point. I was charged $480 for a part that I later found out only cost around $40-$80. After the service, I drove home and the next morning found my car was leaking fluid under the engine. I returned to his shop to have my car rechecked and he then informed me that he would charge me more money if I wanted it repaired. I let him know that my car never leaked before, but since I am not a car guy and didn't have full knowledge of what exactly was leaking or why it was leaking, I found myself in a tough position because I needed my car back asap, so I unwillingly paid for the service. I should of stopped coming here at this point, but due to previous good service for the oil change and his "friendliness", I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Some time later, I returned for another service and, just like the other 1-star ratings on Yelp, this turned into a nightmare experience. A service that should have taken 1-2 days turned into 2+ months of the Owner continuously: 1- Lying to me about the progress of my car 2- Lying about when my car would be ready 3- Excuse after excuse why my car was not ready 4- Ignoring my calls When I confronted him about the delay, he claimed my car needed more service to complete the original service and without any shame, he asked for more money. When I finally got my car back and drove home, the feel of my car felt worse than how it felt before this service. I ended up being swindled over $2,000+ for a service I later confirmed cost roughly $700-$900 for parts and installation. My car leaks in two spots now and I believe he took original parts out of my vehicle and replaced them with junkyard parts. I will take my car to the dealership and have a professional take a look. A/C went out on my Honda civic 2017. According to Juan, condenser was clogged. Recommended the condenser to be replaced. That was an extra $299 (Remove and replace-[includes: R&I Front bumper assembly]. labor and $193.09 for the condenser. This is in addition to the $499.00 for the refrigerant 1234YF. Anyways, a/c in the car is working, however the condenser was never replaced and no sign of them removing the front bumper. When I called Juan he said they changed the" inner parts of the condenser". and that if I needed to change the actual condenser; it was going to be an additional $399 or so. I'm glad my ac is working but I defiantly got scammed. I hope people read this review and think it twice before bringing their car to this place. We dropped our 2019 Chevy tahoe off for a lag at first gear. The owner Juan, called me back to let me know that it is the transmission and needs to be fixed asap since it was on the verge of leaving us stranded on the side of the road. We processed with payinf him for the parts up front 3780.00 on 11/25/24. This was supposed to be a two days fix and our car would be available and the remainder due at pick up. We picked up our vehicle and it was still experiencing the same issue. He stated to drive it for 150 miles and bring it back on Monday for reprogramming. We did just that first thing 12/2/24 we dropped on the vehicle. Every other day we had to call him to check on the status of the vehicle. He never called with an update and was always an excuse as to why the repair wasnt completed. He needed an outside contractor or buddy of his to come and reprogram but it was always tomorrow or the next day. That turned into 3 weeks and ultimately had to be taken to a Chevy dealer to be reprogrammed. Finally got a call on 12/30/24 that our vehicle would be available to be picked up on 1/3/24. We called him before coming in and he was on vacation and that he was the only one with the key to his overfill lot, thought it was funny and spoke to us like we were friends. There was no sence of urgency to get our vehicle back to and no communication to us. We contacted him first thing Monday and asked me to hold, all the while he didnt put me on mute and spoke in spanish to a worker that he forgot to leave the keys hes out of town and someone would need to get the keys to us to allow ua to pick up the car. He stated a driver was on his way to national city at 230pm and would contact me or my fiance once arriving in redlands. At 630pm after no update i called Juan again and he stated, let me call my driver. It is now the next day at 11am and no call or follow up. We have called and left messages and text messages to the number he communicated with us via text and called. read more

BEWARE!!!! I wish I would've looked at the reviews before going here! I went here because their prices were the cheapest in town. The first red flag was all the plaques saying cheap work is you get what you pay, foreshadowing what this shop is known for, scamming good samaritans with fraudulent diagnoses. Juan nava seen someone (me) who he could take advantage of. I went in for an evap leak with estimated price of $85. The 2nd red flag was he almost crashed my car into his building, a customer in the lobby said I was WAY too calm; she would've ran out collected her car and left. 20 minutes later Juan returns saying my car overheated and the radiator burst because the thermostat was stuck closed. I was extremely surprised because I have documentation and a-okay check outs from precious mechanics saying my car had no problems and I haven't had overheating issues. I drove my car from riverside to Redlands and chino hills back to Redlands before taking it to Juan's shop and now all of a sudden the thermostat is stuck closed! YEAH RIGHT! At the the time I was devastated and just wanted my car fixed so I paid the $600 to get a new radiator and thermostat! And Juan said his clan of GOON mechanics did the smoke test 3 times. All of which doesn't require the vehicle to even be turned on so this radiator bursting issue shouldn't even of been addressed. My radiator was just replaced it was brand new. I wouldn't be surprised if they smashed it with a hammer. Then Juan says to a customer in the lobby that he had a transgender person come into his shop whom he had an altercation about pronouncing their pronouns.... First of all what does this have to do with fixing our cars and secondly why would you even tell a paying customer about a negative experience you had with another customer. It was a very weird experience from a business that is supposed to be professional. And thirdly, my check engine light came back on after Juan did the smoke test 3 TIMES. This is ridiculous, how do you charge these prices only to do MEDIOCRE work. And when I asked the mechanic to had been working in my car for the last 3 hours what happened he was tongue tied because Juan was standing in the background making sure his employee didn't reveal their fraudulent tactics and play game's mentality. I visited RCAR of Redlands on April 10, 2024, for a catalytic converter replacement. The mechanic claimed both oxygen sensors needed replacing and also performed an ECU flush. Later issues led me to another shop who discovered improper installation of the wiring and harness that could have led to complete computer failure over time. Caution advised. read more

Like who they think they talking to?? Your Search for a Good Mechanic is Over Several of the customers at this shop that I asked said they trust this shop, the prices are fair, the work is done when they say it will be done, only necessary work is done, and all of it is the best quality service. Having used the shop two different times for two different reasons, I can tell you that all of these things are true. My car was not running well, idled roughly when stopped, and was taking longer and longer to start. My car is 16 years old. I was not surprised to find out it needed a new power steering pump, alternator, battery, and a starter. Juan explained that my power steering pump had leaked on the alternator shorting it out. This was obvious when I looked at it. This would damage both the battery and the starter. Since they were already old, it made sense to me. OMG! After these were all replaced, my car is running better than it has in a long time. It is an automatic transmission. Now, it shifts when it should and does so very smoothly. The acceleration is improved. The car runs smoothly, even when at a stop. It starts immediately and sounds just like it did when it was new. The guy we've been working with " " has reported to us that he's working with a third party to get our car problem resolved and also verbalized that he told that third party that we the customers are getting agitated among other unprofessional statements about us, when all we have been doing is following up about our car on a weekly basis because they won't call us so we have to continuously check in with them. They have caller ID apparently because we called this morning and the guy immediately answers with, "hi _____, I'm on the other line with the third party for your car I'll call you back" no call back had been received. Turns out they never had the parts to repair our vehicle and he knew that since day 1 but just wanted to charge my warranty insurance.
