I highly recommend Ray's Tree Service for your tree trimming needs! We have 7 trees surrounding our corner lot home that needed a LOT of work to clean up and look nice again. (The city told us we had to--that should give you an idea of how terribly messy they looked LOL) We called around and got 3 different estimates, Ray's was completely reasonable and he had just done 3 of our neighbor's homes as well, so we saw firsthand a few different examples of the company's finished product before we decided to hire them. They came out within a few days of our initial call to do the estimate, and after we hired them they were at our house the very next business day and worked all day long and a little into the next day to finish the job. It was done quickly and beautifully, I WISH I took before pictures so I could post a side by side of the before and afters. What a difference!! UPDATE (01/20/2018) I got a call from Ray first thing in the morning after I made this review. He was very apologetic and requested for me to give him a chance and to revise my review. We were in need of getting our front yard tree trimmed. Branches we're hanging off and some were falling everyday. Ray did a great job on my tress. I had an orange tree that had not been touched in years and an oak that was out of control. He did an impeccable job shaping the orange tree, In fact, I had no idea it could look that good! I wanted a few changes on the trees and he came asap and fixed it. He is good at what he does and wants the customer to be happy. I called on a Friday and he came that following Tuesday. He is very busy but squeeze me in and did a great job. Last year we hired Ray to remove slightly more than a stump from a dead tree that we thought had been diseased (we'd already removed the majority of the tree branches ourselves, leaving very little left). Quote was the cheapest we could find for removal and grinding the roots down. Set up a removal appointment. No showed. Called him and left a message, had to reschedule appointment. It took his team 5 minutes to cut the remainder down (they took away the tree parts) and he Came back on his own to grind the stump and roots, but just left a mess of grounded-up roots and never came back to clean it up. We had to spend hours cleaning up the diseased root pieces ourselves to prepare to plant a new tree in the same spot. Given the good price, I'll give him 3 stars but wasn't happy with difficulties in communication and the mess left over. read more

This year's tasks included some large tree branch selective pruning, which meant climbing up high and along narrow branches, very skillful work from the crew member! Ray's Tree Service is an outstanding company! He came over for an estimate and was able to do the work 2 days later. His crew took out a dead birch, pruned an ornamental plum, took out a privet, and cleared blackberry vines. His estimate was a very fair price, and his crew were professional, thorough, and cleaned everything as they went. They even chopped out the root of the privet! I never had trees trimmed before so, where better to go for trimmers than Yelp. And Yelp came through again. We needed a large tree (35 feet) to be crowned and shaped and two smaller trees to be thinned out. I called several people and had 2 estimates. I called Ray and he came out the same day for an estimate. Let's just say Ray was much le$$ expensive than the other estimate. Since it was raining all week Ray couldn't trim the trees during the rain. The first nice day Ray called me and said his crew could come by that afternoon. His crew of 3 worked fast and cleaned up all the cut branches. They did a great job on the big tree and another great job on thinning out the smaller trees. I had an occasion to call on Ray for a complex job....my lawn was saturated with roots from an adjacent tree. I called Ray to see if he could use his trunk grinder to dig up the lawn. The roots were so big and extensive you could not use a heavy duty rototiller. He is very experienced in maneuvering a really large piece of equipment and saved me hours upon hours of very hard labor. read more

I have 5 60-70 ft. cedar trees that were previously pruned with all the weight on the end of long branches. Ray's crew not only made my trees look nice but they thinned them so that the weight of rain and force of winds won't cause the branches to break. While here, they also removed a small dead tree and pruned and reshaped an ornamental plum. It was nice not having to schedule an another appointment for the additional work. Ray and his crew did a fantastic job of clearing out the fallen tree which came barreling from our neighbor's yard, broke our fence, and took down our hedges one week before our baby shower (which was to take place at our house the following Saturday!). My husband called Ray on Monday, was able to get him out there on Tuesday, and scheduled the tree removal (and hedge trimming) by Wednesday. His pricing is very reasonable. WHO'S THAT GUY CREEPING OUT OF THE SHADOWS!!!! IT'S RAY!!!! My husband and I purchased our first home this past April. Prior to our move in, we were certain that we would have to have the trees cut that were on our property. We went next-door one day to ask our neighbors if they could help us with the cost for pruning the trees back; they couldn't afford to, hence why the trees had overgrown onto our side of the fence and onto our roof. So naturally, I turned to Yelp for suggestions on finding a tree cutter. I always look for the companies with the highest rating, of course. We couldn't get the work done immediately due to our finances - we didn't have the money. Nevertheless, when we called Ray and explained that we would not be able to get the work done for a couple of months or so, Ray came out to our home without hesitation, gave us a VERY REASONABLE quote and that was it. TREE CUTTING DAY!!!! Ray showed up with his guys to our home bright and early and on time the day of service! After setting up, Ray left to attend other customer service needs. His guys worked tirelessly until about noon! THEY WERE QUICK and EFFICIENT! Our home looked like new! The sunlight came shining through! We were so excited to have the darkness lifted! Later, that day, Ray came back to assure a job well done. My husband was so ecstatic about how beautiful everything looked, he gave Ray his blessings and he left off into the sunset. WE MADE A MISTAKE - Not long after, we noticed there were a few branches that were still hanging over from the neighbor's house onto our roof. So we called Ray to let him know we made a mistake and asked if we would be willing to come back out and have a look at it. He graciously agreed to do so. We expressed our appreciation and he informed us that he would take care of the work as soon as his schedule permitted. HE'S A MAN OF HIS WORD!!!! I just came home to find a man lurking in the shadows! IT WAS RAY! He was working well into the dark evening. Not only did he cut the branches off of the roof, he surveyed the original work that was done and cut a ridiculous amount of the existing tree back even more to assure our satisfaction! I was so happy; I didn't know what to do!!!! I shook his hand and profusely expressed my thanks to him. HE TRULY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. THIS IS ONE SMART BUSINESS MAN - I TELL YOU.
