The very poor Rayne sales agent failed to tell me that there would be a chemical taste to the water and that the system would have to be turned off before the plants in my yard could be watered, once the system was installed, and that a financing plan to pay for the system was available. The very poor Rayne installation technician did not notify me that the water to my home would be turned off for a half an hour to install the soft water system. The very poor Rayne office director failed to return any of my calls asking for assistance regarding the soft water system. Generally, when the Rayne office number is called the office staff immediately say 'Hold Please' and put the call on hold without giving the customer a chance to ask to speak to a specific staff member. When I gave the Rayne office staff my credit card number over the phone to pay a bill, later the office staff could not find a record of my transaction and I had to again give them my credit card number. If I had it to do over, I would NOT purchase a system from Rayne! They are incompetent! read more

I've been a customer with this company for over 10 years . We rent a whole house carbon filter @ $40. A month, the original deal was they replaced it, serviced it once a year. We noticed that they hadn't been here in the last year and called. We were told that as of 2022 they only serviced this item if we called? So I've paid $1200 for the last three years with zero service. No apology, we were never informed of this change. That's the way it is seems to be the policy. So we asked them to remove it. If you use this company don't assume they are actually giving you the service you think you are getting and paying for. Last month, Rayne delivered a water softening canister and that evening while I was cooking dinner, I noticed the water was disgustingly cloudy. It was so bad I called our neighbors to see if their water was bad, but they said their water was fine. The next day I called Rayne. They said that someone would call me about the cloudiness, but they never did. Our water was OK the next day after we ran the tap for a few minutes. Yesterday, a new tank was supposed to be delivered, but Rayne skipped us. I called Rayne this AM. They apologized for skipping us and a new tank now has been delivered. A delivery date is stamped on each tank so that you can check it. I wonder how many other deliveries have been skipped and I didn't know it? This new tank has incredibly cloudy water. I purchased my home in 2014, and an existing Rayne water softener was here from the previous owner. I decided to take over their lease, since I also needed water softening and it seemed like the easiest option. I called with my payment info. It has been nearly 8 years and I have never seen a Rayne employee. They have raised their rates regularly by increasing the amount they automatically charge my card (without notice). I am not receiving any added benefit nor any service that warrants a price increase- I've literally had the same depreciating machine for 8 years. I have called and asked to cancel, left messages asking them to return my call, and sent an email asking to cancel. They just ignore me and keep increasing my rates. I could've purchased multiple water softeners myself now, with the amount of money I've sunk into the rental. I do not recommend!!! When the Santa Barbara office made mistakes installing our system, we found they were unresponsive to our requests to fix their system and to reimburse for the damage they system caused to our house plumbing. After several months of documenting the damages and calling, sending them registered letters and emails, the information finally made it to corporate. Once corporate was involved, all issues were resolved quickly and fairly. My suggestion is that if you go with a system out of Santa Barbara and run into issues, go straight to HQ in San Diego. read more

Dave Jackson, Rayne's Service Representative showed up on time for our appointment, which is the first indicator what sort of service response time one's going to be receiving. I already owned a water softener located in the garage. Problem was I did not like the way the back flow drain was hooked up which went behind cabinets, walls and who knows where? That was a time bomb ready to go off when and if it broke. Bought the home that way. Also not working all that efficiently-perhaps requiring canister servicing. Noticed hard water spots on walk in shower glass. Home is set up with an RO system under the sink. So not concerned with drinking or cooking water. Dave spent quite a bit of time with me. We discussed numerous options and local water quality. He's a straight-shooter and never tried to over sell me equipment or services my home didn't need. While it may be less expensive to own your own water softener there's numerous drawbacks. Namely you own it and are responsible for servicing. Plus lugging 40-50 lb bags of pellets, going to the store, gas and driving time at some point is just a waste of time and money. We ran thru numerous options to choose from. The one that hit "3" birds with one stone was to remove existing water softener and put it in storage shed so if a future owner wanted one-"there you go"! The drain was left in place if future owner decided to reinstall it. Rayne put a threaded cap on the drain. The garage floor is finished in a high end epoxy terrazzo finish. So dragging canister s in and out could result in damage to the floor and cars parked in garage. Not so easy for a service person to access and R&R. We decided to put it outside. They ended up making the "finished garage" a whole lot cleaner and larger. Plus easier to clean floors with "0" equipment sitting on them. As I'm a designer and very meticulous at everything in this home as it is a multi-million dollar townhome we spent quite a bit of time where the replacement canister could go. Figured out a place where it would virtually be non detectable behind a palm tree. It came out looking like a tree trunk. We took measurements and found an inset spot near entry walkway. Rayne supplied the 12x12 pavers and I supplied the sand to set them on...$5 cost. We removed one small plant, dug up the low voltage lighting wiring to get the area prepped for Rayne. Dave sent two people out to do the install and plumbing at no charge. Jorge and Palomino were great. Accommodating and followed instructions to the design we had come up with. Nice to not have to battle it out with subcontractors that are simply trying to get in and out. These guys were great and did an awesome install. We lined up everything outside so the canister would be centered up on the pavers. It's 10" in diameter and grey pavers Rayne supplied are 12x12 and everything looked perfect when done. We ran into a few minor glitches as we found a water service box under decorative bark. But got that sorted out so pavers would sit on top yet line up with concrete and brick walk way. Also sorted out drip line system and low voltage lighting wiring. Jorge drilled holes from outside and took precise measurements. The copper lines inside the garage needed to be above irrigation timer. I expected solder marks on the walls and pipes not straight or level. Was pleasantly surprised everything came out perfectly level and straight. So many plumbers seem to have "no eye" for a proper install. Everything came out first class craftsmanship which seems difficult to find these days. People say yes and than do whatever they want. Currently riding herd on a contractor and their sub's is frustrating. Piping came out awesome! They caulked in through the wall holes. No marks on the walls, cleaned up after themselves. Now the garage looks a whole lot cleaner and a bit larger. Pavers, canister and copper pipes came out awesome. Can barely see copper pipes and canister. Virtually undetectable. And they cleaned up outside and raked decorative bark back in place. Moved my water softener to storage shed exactly how I cleared out space for it. And the soft water is great now. $36 p/m can't beat that! Canister changed out every 28 days and "2" free per year when heavier usage needed. Plus can always go up on service frequency at a reasonable fee. It's also nice not having to chase plumbers to show up. Rayne offers 24/7 service at no additional charge. Now hassle free soft water is done. No maintenance and no more headaches. Jorge and Palomino had great attitudes and easy to work with and a sense of humor. I told them Dave was going to send his best installers out. Jorge laughed and said they were tied up so he sent us. That was hilariously funny as these guys are top notch and humble. When we started using this company 12 years ago, we were very happy. As time progressed they became sloppy with their maintaining of our equipment. Installed filters at a high price. They did not work properly. When we complained the prices rose and the service declined. They are terrible regarding customer service. Now we have changed to a new company. I called and cancelled the service and had them pick up their equipment. They still charged us for a new month. The last service we had they replaced the lowest priced filer and charged us $135.00 for 15 minutes of service. This was the labor charge only. With the new company I still have the same system. The difference is the water flow from my dispenser is twice what it was. I was informed that the filters had not been correctly maintained and changed out for new ones. Apparently someone just rinsed out the old one and I was charged for a new one. This was the problem with water flow. Not happy with this disgraceful practice. Plus we had air in the lines, leaks, and they charged us to maintain the unit. What did they do? If you complain they are happy to tell you where you may place your complaint! read more

My parents just recently had a Rayne system installed at their Goleta home. They couldn't be happier. We had been using a water softener we'd bought 20 years ago up until now. Over time, it began to lose its integrity and eventually we had to turn it off. My dad didn't want to continue maintaining it on his own, so figured he'd have it replaced. The technician who had assisted us (I believe his name was Jacob) was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and quickly got the new system installed and running properly. He also went inside to ensure that the system was working okay. During the process, he noticed that our water pressure was dangerously high (to the point where it was borderline scary to shut off the shower), and promptly fixed it without charging us. Additionally, he hauled away our clunky old softener which was helpful for us. Love having soft water and a manageable water pressure now. I was unsure of what type of water softener and filter to get for a new home we were moving into. Taking your money every month isn't a problem unless there is an issue We had our reverse osmosis system removed after water damage under our kitchen sink not acknowledged let alone addressed and, discovering we had to pay for the labor to fix the issue with the only the part covered under their guarantee/warranty. The manager I spoke with told me it was enough of an issue to get the cost of the parts covered by the manufacturer providing them to Rayne. Sounds like a bad business deal if Rayne Water has to work that hard to be refunded for parts from a contracted vendor... More important, there was NOTHING verbally mentioned or in our work order that stated WE had to pay for labor costs. This company has the worst customer service, it took them 6 weeks and many communications to give me a price and information on the unit I wanted, then the price was quoted initially increased by $400 the day before their second attempt to install the unit in my house.
