    I hired Anacapa Plumbing for a residential plumbing project at my property, and unfortunately my…read moreexperience was very disappointing in the areas of management, scheduling, communication, and billing. To start, the work was scheduled to begin on a Monday between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. I already was not thrilled with such a large arrival window, but I accepted it. What was not acceptable was that no one showed up and no one called. I rearranged my morning and ended up being late to my own job for no reason. There were also repeated communication failures during the project. At one point, I was told the water would be shut off on a Monday, so I had my renters make plans to be away so they would not be inconvenienced by having no water. Monday came and went, and the water was never shut off. Apparently their plans had changed, but no one communicated that to us. When they finally did shut the water off, it was handled in a way that created a completely unnecessary burden. On one occasion, the guest house was without water all day and overnight. On a different day, the main house was also without water all day and overnight. In my opinion, this was avoidable. I had already run the main line to both houses. They only needed to run piping from those lines to the water heaters. That work should have been staged so everything else was prepped first, with the final tie-ins done once the glue had cured, keeping the water interruption to maybe an hour or two. Instead, two families were significantly inconvenienced, and the attitude I got was that this was standard and no big deal. Another issue was professionalism on site. One of the workers was loudly yelling and swearing in the crawlspace, including repeated profanity. This was not a vacant construction site. This is a home where people live. I was grateful my wife and kids were not around to hear it. After the plumbing work was completed, I finished enclosing the relocated washer and dryer area by framing, insulating, and drywalling the space. When I finally hooked up the machines and ran a load of laundry, the room flooded because water backed up and poured out of the in-wall washing machine drain. I called Anacapa Plumbing, and since this happened just a couple of days after they finished the job, I expected a prompt and professional response. I was told someone would come that afternoon. No one came. Then I was told they would send someone the next day. A plumber eventually came while I was at work, stayed about an hour, and left without any communication. Hours later, I still had no idea whether the problem had been fixed or whether it was safe to use the washing machine. I had to call and leave a message to find out. Later I was told it was okay to use, followed by a $270 bill for that visit. The billing was another major issue. The original estimate was around $15,000. The final bill came in at about $20,000, plus the additional $270. That is roughly a 25% increase with no meaningful communication, warning, or explanation during the job. In fairness, I did add a small amount to the scope by having them run about 25 feet of hot and cold PEX with two shutoff valves, but I do not believe that justifies an extra $5,000. For context, I am a General Contractor and have been for 18 years. I often try out subcontractors on my own properties before using them on residential client projects. Anacapa Plumbing was one of several companies recommended to me locally. Based on this experience, I would not use them again, and I would not recommend them to others. P.S. Thorn was nice and a good worker.

Water quality is one of the most important things we can monitor for our long term health. When I moved to Oxnard and had the water tested, the results came back with significant and unhealthy levels of lead, arsenic, and other unhealthy contaminants at levels exceeding what a normal person would consider healthy. I called and spoke with each of the companies offering water filtration systems in our community. Mike, the owner, Peggy (who seems to handle everything office related), and Paul, the technician, are all top drawer. Each of them have always been knowledgeable, efficient, helpful, prompt, respectful. ADVANCED WATER SOLUTIONS shinein all of the ways in which a business can support customers. The system they installed has worked flawlessly. Originally, they installed a water softener, I was so pleased, I had them install the whole house filtration system, and then additionally a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink for the most delicious drinking water. Thank you Advanced Water Solutions~ I join what I would imagine to be all of your other customers who are pleased to benefit from your expertise and your consistent professional responses.

The first thing I noticed was the amount of lotion I had to use, second came the difference in the feel of my towels right out of the dryer feeling stiff and not soft. Next was that after a few months the amount of work I had to do to keep my showers, sinks etc. clean. I had to make the decision to go back to soft water, however I was done with renting and the continued cost increases associated with it. After reading reviews on several companies, I inquired with Advanced Water Solutions. Mike followed up on my inquiry and after answering several of my questions offered to have Jay, the owner come out to provide information so that I could weight my options. We found Jay to be professional, friendly and straight forward. He listened to what we had to say and made a couple of recommendations, not pushy and no heavy sell tactics. Once we decided to move forward with our purchase the install date was set for a few days later. Our Installer Paul was great, he like Jay communicated everything he was going to do and upon completion provided additional helpful information ensuring all of our questions were answered. Paul like Mike and Jay was very open, friendly and professional. We are about ten days in now and very happy with the decision to do business with Advanced Water Solutions.

THEY HAVE NEVER CALLED. Then KYLE, the owner, left an EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL message with our receptionist. DO NOT USE THEM. We have been faithful clients for 5 years and have always had small issues (billing and service) but no customer deserves to be disrespected to the level that Kyle takes it. Edit: they showed up without calling or me making an appointment. I called twice. They showed up 4 times. Wtaf. So glad we are done with them.

Their billing is from another generation and frankly, a little sloppy. Customer service is from the old school: surly and mean. Their equipment is dirty: I sent one dispenser back because it was filthy and the second one was not nearly as dirty so we just cleaned it off and wrote it off as too much hassle to call their office again. But here's the thing, when we pointed out that their dispensers could use a little cleaning before they go out to new customers (these aren't new units) they pulled a serious attitude and cut the conversation short. To put it mildly, they don't take criticism well. Hey, if a customer is pointing out that you have two dirty water dispensers give a shout out to the guys in the warehouse to pay more attention, don't tell the customer to pound sand. As for the billing...they charged us for one extra bottle that we never received. Wait...that's what another customer here on Yelp complained about too. Do I sense a pattern? This company needs to get their act together (though I feel it's a little too late for that) and act like a responsible business so locals feel good about supporting them instead of the giant water companies. They give mom and pop businesses a bad name. Go with Sparkletts or one of the bigger names, at least they have clean equipment and they won't try to rip you off.
