I have already left a 5 star review and now, after a few days, I've realized our RO water now tastes SO GOOD, and is significantly better than before. Sol Water replaced our whole house system, and also put in all new filters and membrane for RO. Our water now tastes delicious! I never thought I would be taking the time to write a review for a water softener company, but ever since I fired Culligan, had them tear their crap out and get it off my property and called Steve at Sol Wave Water, I haven't had a single issue with my system - except one. We had what turns out to be a defective thread connecter on my water intake line that started leaking. I called the office and was told that a service technician would call me back within the hour. About 20 minutes Steve, the OWNER, shows up at my house, sees the leak and goes right to work. After taking the defective connector off, he showed me a slight flaw in the brass casting that caused the leak. He was there and 10 in 20 minutes. But back to the system. Not only do our clothes come out of the washer cleaner - and softer, but our dishes come out spotless from our dishwasher and my dry skin is not nearly as dry as it used to be. I'm also getting almost a year out of my "6 month" filters for my R.O. system. Cleaner water in, less stuff in the filters. And ironically, my monthly bill is LESS then I was paying Culligan!!! How's that for a Win-Win!!! I was so angry with Culligan and I honestly thought all these soft water companies were the same - install, bill and forget, but Steve is a great LOCAL business owner. I will be with them as long as we have water in Santa Barbara!!! read more

We recently moved into a new home with an existing water softener. My husband cannot service the water softener, so we called Sol Wave, specializing in water softeners, to see if it needed to be serviced. The person they sent out checked the water softener and did a water sample as to see if it was functioning properly. After a brief look at the water softener he took a sample of our water telling us it was not functioning at all. He proceeded to tell us "the water softener is shot." I asked him about repairing it and his reply was that it would never function properly after the repair. So I asked how much would a new one would cost. His quick reply was $6,000!! After he left we found a phone number on one of the tanks of Augie Water Systems that we hadn't seen earlier and we called them for a second opinion. The technician did a lengthy check up on our existing water softener. He said it was functioning properly and our water was indeed, being softened. He said he replaced a few parts that would run around $30.00 and would bill us for the service call. I was dumbfounded to hear the complete opposite as to our water softener's condition according to Sol Wave. They obviously have trained their salesperson to say whatever is needed to sell a new unit, the very opposite of the condition the unit was in. We are new home buyers, had we not examined our inherited units and found the name of Augie's on it, we would have forked out $6,000. Businesses like Sol Wave should be sorted out as being totally dishonest as to the condition of an existing unit. I hope this lengthy synopsis will save some poor soul out there in having to deal with businesses like Sol Wave. read more

They have come by 3 times in the last 6 months or so to fix our RO system that we rent. Each time they tell us we have the best water pressure you can have. However the most water we get is 1-2 cups every 2 days. I wish they would just come out and actually fix it instead of telling us it's fixed every time they come out. Only reason we have not cancelled is because we also rent our water softener through them. The RO is horrible, the water softener works. If your reading this maybe try fixing the system at Camino palomera 3/30 Sol wave came back, although they could not fix the issue they installed a nice water dispenser with hot and cold water. Also credited me back for the time the ro was not working. Great customer service. read more

As an update to my last review, I did get a call from the manager Colin and my unit was finally replaced. The water heating is bit better on this one than the last one. I appreciated the effort that was made to replace the unit and having instructions on its use this time. It still shouldn't be so challenging to get service setup and maintained. read more

Service is $75/mo. The water softener is based on salt - which tends to leave behind a "slimy" feel. When they "service" they basically just add salt. They do this supposedly once a month. A couple of times our salt container is nearly empty at times. When I called to let them know what is going on - the woman I spoke was pretty rude. She said if when the tech comes out and "thinks" you will "last" until the following month - he doesn't top your container off, he adds nothing!!! I guess the company is trying to save money on salt. read more

The reason this review is so significant is that we all, as consumers, want first and foremost to be treated with personal respect vs just another account. Today, I initially had the privilege of meeting Michael who delivered the machine and bottled water. An absolutely wonderful person and a salt of the earth kind of guy. The true customer caring service he provided was remarkable and hope to see him again on refills. I also chatted with the owner Steve to let him know I've been around a long time and wanted to address the various accolades I had for Michael. Steve was just as enjoyable ..he's a people person, hence, hires extremely well. I can't talk about Sol Wave's water softeners or reverse osmosis systems for the home. However, for years I have been a drinking water customer from their water machine at the corner of Hollister and Rutherford Streets, in front of Santa Cruz Market in old-town Goleta. In the past, periodically it would go down for short periods of time. Now, it almost always has an "Out of Order" sign on it. It seems they just can't keep it operating. (I hope the water softener maintenance business is better!) I've spoken to the various employees from time to time and they tend to blame their customers! Yet, the water machine in front of the Seven-11 a block or two away almost never is down. Sol-Wave, it's time to replace that machine with a newer model with better reliability, or station an employee next to it to keep it running. read more

I have had their service for over 3 years, purchased a water softener system, an RO system and I have the DI service, I have attempted to reach them for well over 6 weeks, I have called (twice actually getting someone, once they stated the manager was out for the day would call me tomorrow, THAT NEVER HAPPENED, I called again the woman stated she would mark my message urgent and have Steve Nipper the owner return my call, NEVER HAPPENED! My DI tank is only suppose to be exchanged when it runs out, twice they have simply showed up to replace it creating a $180 charge, a little frustrating when you call, email, FB inbox etc and still absolutely no response, apparently they don't care???!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

My old Kenmore water softener stopped working. Steve came and found a broken hose and replaced it. But because it was so old the odds of the softener working with only a new hose was very low. The softener was started up and Steve cautioned to watch it in case it overflowed again. I checked it the next morning but it wasn't clear whether the softener actually had regenerated. The only way to find out was to test the water Since I am handicapped there was no way for me to get what was needed to test. Steve who was deeply involved in a major project, went out of his way to come and test the water. He told me the water was soft. His coming was over, and above what could normally be expected of someone involved in a major project. I'm sure sure he would have rather sold me a new softener. But he didn't push that at all. Highly recommend! An absolute joy to work with especially in our crisis situation due to the recent Mud Slides. They made a point of getting out to my house the day I called and were able to set us up with emergency water along with a 2 week delivery cycle without having to sign a contract. I can cancel once we no longer have the need. Although have learned to always keep a couple 5 gallons on hand in the future. I am thrilled to have them also start delivery of our salt on an ongoing basis as it reasonably priced and a household item I seemed to always forget. I talked to another company that was more interested in scheduling appointments and sales calls. I called Steve Nipper and all he said was "let's talk water" which were the magic words. I had him come over and we talked water (instead of money, which is what the other company was interested in). After patiently answering all my questions for about an hour, he scheduled an installation. The installation happened 3 days later. The 4 hours took 8 hours to be done right, but they left, it all worked, they did not charge me any extra. BTW, I put in a "reverse osmosis" filter for the kitchen sink and the water tastes great now! (I also cancelled my monthly water delivery service). read more

They rent you ceramic dispensers that cost $42 Amazon and rental is ridiculous. You pay for it in under a year. Instead bought two 5 gallon containers $60 Amazon. $2 for 5 gallons water at dispenser. Measured water quality of dispenser at 7 ppm measured purity, darn good. Thanks for encouraging me not to be your customer with your attitude. it seems the employees at your company don't know what you sell and what you rent. my brain expected that your response would be "oh I'm sorry about that I need to train my employees better that we sell dispensers and not just rent them" I did not invent the fact that you're employee told me you do not sell dispensers. maybe you should give your employees attitude, not your potential customers. read more

I explained that my skin, dishes, laundry, shower tub and faucets all have the after effects of hard SB water...a white filmy residue.
