Happened to walk by after having lunch in Ridgewood and looked inside. The vibe was warm and welcoming so we decided to have dessert and coffee here. We were not disappointed. Great food, great customer service, and an upscale diner feel that was lively yet personal at the same time. The donuts with raspberry and chocolate sauce were excellent, and so were the cappuccinos. My friends had a cute little flower on it, and mine looked more like a creamy hurricane, but it tasted great. No complaints! Our server brought out the donuts with a candle in them. But mid meal she stopped showing up. We didn't have ketchup or syrup for our brunch so I had to find someone to assist. My sister-in-law recommended we meet here for lunch. This place does not accept reservations. We arrived around 11:45am. I put my name in with the hostess on their wait list. I was told it may take up to 30 minutes for a table for four. We had to wait outside on the corner sidewalk in the heat. There is no waiting space inside. This place is always busy. Many customers were waiting outside for their names to be called. Our booth became available after about a 30 minute wait. Our booth was to the right of the entrance. When our non alcoholic drinks arrived by a server she knocked over one of our iced tea on our table. She cleaned up our table and returned with a replacement iced tea. Even the manager came over with a wet towel to clean up the tile floor. They should have a wet mop handy for such accidents. This is a very noisy restaurant. I heard many utensils, dishes, glasses and other things dropping on their tile floor. The staff here seems to be clumsy. On the bright side, my eggs benedict were cooked perfectly and were tasty. I met up with some friends for brunch at Raymond's. They had a great set up of tables on the sidewalk alongside the restaurant with plenty of umbrellas for shade which was definitely for this weather! Thankfully there was no wait and was seated immdiately. The placemat also doubled as the menu which helps with less contact with the customers and staff. We had ordered our drinks and our meal. Our meals came out fairly quickly. I had ordered the eggs benedict and was served with breakfast potatoes. It was delicious! Cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was very creamy. Overall, I enjoyed brunch at Raymond's. The staff did a great job with making our experience as enjoyable and safe as possible. The staff was also consistently cleaning tables and chairs. Soup and salad, however after my guest (my son) ordered, vegan chili, that sounded like something I wanted to try. There is nothing further that I would have had on my mind than vegan chili. My husband and I absolutely love this place. The very first Raymond's we had gone to was the one in Montclair NJ , we were so happy that we were able to find the one in Ridgewood NJ. We love that all of the food is real and authentic and a little bit of a down south flavor. The 1st time coming here we actually gotten the chicken & waffles & we absolutely loved it . A couple other times coming here I decided to try the Breakfast Burrito Bowl and OMG I have to say it is so delicious that when we do come back here for brunch that is what I usually get . Visited on a quiet Sunday evening with two other couples. The restaurant had an upscale vibe to it and it's bigger than you think. Very clean and bright. It's located in the heart of downtown Ridgewood, which has a beautiful main street with lots of mom and pop shops. You have to scan the barcode on the table to see the menu for the restaurant. Very sanitary. We began our meal with two orders of the fried calamari. Not enough fish and way too many cherry peppers. A bit disappointed. Our entrees included two cheeseburgers, two black bean burgers, and a cobb salad. The cheeseburgers were thick, juicy, cooked to perfection, and most importantly, it held up well in the bun. The black bean burgers were also thick and tasty from what I was told. The cobb salad was a very generous portion. The French fries were very good. Served hot and cooked fresh. Not greasy. Nice portion. I ate all mine and some of my wife's. The service was very good and friendly. Prices were competitive for the area. WOW! we were in the area for work and stumbled across Raymond's. I was really surprised with the food quality and creativity in both dish design and plating. As some reviews mentioned its definitely insta worthy. The restaurant itself is also photo worthy as its an old soda shop. Complete with the tin plate ceiling, marble counter, original booths, and soda bottles covering the back wall. They were exceptionally busy when we stopped by and with COVID labor shortages, service was slow. This wasn't for lack of the staff hustling but more what I expect since everyone is short staffed. Back to the food, it was on POINT. I had a cappuccino complete with latte art. Followed that up with a brussel sprout and raclette cheese quesadilla. Strange I know right.... but OMG sometimes you have to go with the strange. It straight up tasted like fall especially with the acorn squash dipping sauce. I now have new respect for brussel sprouts. I've been to the Raymond's in Montclair a bunch of times but this was my first time at the Ridgewood location. -Food: decent, got the pancakes with warm blueberry syrup (more like blueberry compote, I asked for some maple syrup.) My friend got the eggs Benedict and she enjoyed it. The hot chocolate here is still my fav and by far the best part of my experience- so rich and love the homemade marshmallow! -Prices: high, $16 for pancakes? Crazy -Service: horrible. Our server took about 20 minutes to approach us (outdoor seating) didn't even say hi, just asked if we were ready. My friend asked for a high chair and he forgot, our coffee/hot chocolate were forgotten and came well after our entrees. It was extremely hard to find our server to ask for the check, and he never checked in and asked how our food was. I've never received great service at the other location either but this was the worst Overall, I def feel Raymond's is overrated and the bad service isn't worth the food, but I'm sure I'll be back at some point for the hot chocolate! read more

So it is a busy place, and it took me a bit of time to get seated, but that is to be expected of what seems to be a highly rated place. I went for the first time, but I was not blown away by my particular dish, which was the Eggs Norwegian. (Poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, smoked salmon, English muffin, and home fries) I don't have anything to compare it to so I'm not sure if this is the usual way to prepare it, but what stood out is the poached eggs felt cooled off, which affected the overall dish. I also realized I'm not a huge fan of smoked salmon, which didn't really complement the cooked off eggs. The home fries were also interesting; the overall texture was too soft and tasted like sweet potato than home fries I'm used to.
