    Single portion of chicken karahi
    J E.

Came here with friends on a weeknight... Personally, I love Pakistani food as the absolute BEST of all the Middle Eastern curried dished, but I'm partial to it as it's what I was raised on and I've had it in Pakistan over several visits and I know it quite well... and this place does it quite nicely! Service is typical of an ethnic joint - Meaning they're friendly, but don't expect over-the-top service, utensils, plates, etc... this place uses paper plates and you have to ask for nearly everything you might need - but I don't hold this against them as they mean the best, there's a slight cultural difference that needs to be considered. A great example of that is that they even came out and offered us some AMAZING kheer as a free dessert after we were done with dinner. Their chicken kaharai was great! Very tasty, nicely spiced, and made just right. Their aloo polak was decent and their naan was ok (slightly too thick). The biryani was excellent, as was their buttered chicken, channa, and vindaloo chicken. Would highly recommend them for a very nice, Pakistani (which is the BEST) curry and kabob experience. I'm even more partial to them as my family is from Rawalpindi (where I've visited many times) and the name reminds me of that village.

We love it every time it just doesn't have the following it should. #1 plate with chicken and beef is my go to!

Great Pakistani/Indian cuisine! #1 is our go to with chicken, been, chickpeas, rice and naan. Can't go wrong just doesn't have the following!

    Chicken, palak paneer, garlic Naan

The chicken was very well done, moist and full of flavor. I loved the garlic Naan, so soft and delicious. I didn't like the Palak paneer so much. It was one of the oiliest (or I guess buttered) curry I've ever had. I mean pools of oil in the curry. I have to watch how much oil I consume due to acid reflux so was a bit disappointed to see how much oil or butter was used. In my opinion, it just is uncessary and ruins the dish. I took it home and tried to see if I could let the oil cool and separate, but the whole thing just solidified, oil too since I think there was that much butter. I could tell it was butter as you could really taste the sweet buttery flavor. Anyway, would never order that again and if I were to come back I'd ask for their least oily curry on the menu. I think they're more known for their meat anyway.

Chicken biryani, Lamb Tikka Masala and veggie samosas were excellent. Food portions are very generous and came out piping hot!

The chicken was juicy and delicious, the naan was thick and fluffy and the chickpeas on the rice were great. Very friendly service too.

Food wasn't fresh and sauce was watery. Chick peas was tasteless. Please avoid eating there. Also, Ac was broken.

Great food. Service is not good. TV way too loud and tuned to CNN. Do yourself a favor and order from Rawal Kabob but take it to go.

Awful, just awful. Got the $5 gyro sandwich lunch special, had one bite and in the trash it went. The sauce smelled and tasted rancid.

Mehak had a couple of mixed reviews too, but mainly about takeout orders. In my opinion, you can't really rate a restaurant fairly with takeouts. That being said, we went ahead and tried Mehak and we're so glad we did. The gobi manchurian was not on the menu for some reason, but definitely ask for it! It's really good - very crispy, very flavorful, and not too spicy. The mango lassi was one of the best we've ever had. It was creamy and not tart at all. It was very refreshing. We were debating between the Kadai Goat and the Goat Rogan Josh. We decided on the Rogan Josh but I don't think I could've gone wrong either way. It was really tender and very tasty. We also got the the Paneer Mekhani and it was also delicious. The Garlic Naan was very fresh and perfect for cleaning up your plate of the delicious sauces. The owner and the staff were very nice and they kept checking on us to make sure everything was ok. They did give us bottled water but I felt a little bad for asking for another one. I'm pretty sure they would've given me another if I asked. That was just me. Overall, I highly recommenr Mehak Indian Restaurant if you simply want humble and delicious Indian Food. 5

While we were there, it was obvious that a bulk of their business is take out. Plenty of people came in to pick up their orders. One of my biggest gripes of late with their take out has been the portion size. It is noticeably smaller than other places. So when we sat down to eat, I was pleased to know that we could get more rice. We had 3 bowls of rice. But the nicest part was we didn't even have to ask. The guy asked us if we wanted more rice...3 times! I think I may have to eat there more often.

After I ordered I was told it would take ten minutes, a reasonable amount of time. I come back in 15 the food is not ready, I ask about it and get told it will be out shortly. I had to wait another 15 minutes. My order was incorrect I ordered butter chicken (which was pretty good) with rice, and an additional side of garlic naan. My butter chicken only came out with garlic naan. After going back inside and inquiring about it I was told it would take five minutes. Sad to say it took longer.

Today I stopped by for lunch, just walking by, and ordered their mild G.O.A.T Dum Biryani and Mango Lassi. Kiran the cashier was nice and polite, very knowledgeable and answered all my requests very well. The food came out quickly and hot. I think the mango lassi was a bit small for it's price but tasted homemade. The goat was extremely spicy for me, even after I was asked how spicy I would like it, and I replied very mild, not spicy. It's was difficult to eat it without a lot of extra toppings and sauces to make it more mild, but then my rice turned into soup. I think that if you normally like the spices that made with Indian food you'll agree with the other reviewers here that it's a nice place to eat. For me it too hot and spicy! As a bonus they offered me to try their desert: Mango Rabadi and a small sample of their chicken kabob. The Mango Rabadi was very good, a pleasant sweetened dessert, but the chicken kabob was also super spicy for me but full of flavor! If you like Indian food it sounds like this is the place to go, but for me it's way too spicy! The owner and the cashier were very nice and friendly. I hope they fulfill the area's Indian food option as best they can in the years to come.

We made the mistake of coming here (on a weekday evening) and left wondering, "How is this place still open???". There weren't any other customers, which should have been the first sign to leave. Zero decor, second sign to leave. The menu looked like it was typed up by a high schooler, no description and was partially hand written, final sign to leave. Unfortunately, being that we had high hopes (since their buffet used to be good), we stayed and ordered a chicken vindaloo and mutter paneer with naan. The naan was like rubber, not sure if it was heated in the microwave or old. The chicken vindaloo looked/tasted like regular chicken curry and had bones, which wasn't even mentioned on the menu. I have ordered chicken vindaloo from many other India restaurants and they always had boneless chicken and actually tasted like vindaloo. The server wasn't helpful in any way and didn't seem to know much about the food. We barley touched the food, paid and just left the rest of the food on the table.

It looked like they were in the middle of a renovation and quickly put up some tables so they could feed people. I wasn't even sure how to ask for a table when we walked in, there was no visible staff. Picked this place because it had good ratings on Yelp, so not sure what they normally look like and if this is a representation of what they're really like. You could tell this place was authentic because there were three other tables and they were all Indian. We got: Masala Mirchi Bhajji - battered and fried chili pepper stuffed with onion. Tarka Dal - yellow lentils Chicken Tikka masala - chicken in a thick creamy sauce The flavors are great, we didn't specify our heat level and we got medium and it was really spicy. I love spicy and can handle spicy, but it was almost too much for me. One food downside, they didn't provide much rice with the dish. The menu is exactly what you see on the website, small print, no pictures. So you have to know what you're looking for or ask a lot of questions. Though I found out if you use Yelp to order takeout, each menu item does include a picture. Very reasonably priced, rare these days.
