LUNCH BUFFET IS WEEKENDS ONLY Went here for lunch on a weekday. They served me a water bottle instead of a glass with ice, which I found odd. Unsure if that's their normal method or if there's a problem with the water supply. I ordered chana masala and an order of garlic naan. Hot, fresh, and fluffy. Was hoping for a strong garlic flavor but it was very faint. The naan itself was excellent, but the garlic portion was not. The chana masala portion was very generous. I ended up having a snack's worth of leftovers. Flavor wise it was ok, nothing special. There were some herbs that I didn't quite like the taste of, as they sort of clashed with the rest of the ingredients. Overall, I had a decent lunch here. Can't really recommend but also can't knock the place. My return depends on how good the other Indian restaurants in the area are. read more

My wife and I got lunch from here yesterday. I would definitely recommend it, but our order was a bit of a mixed bag. The highlight by far was the Mayuri special gobi. It was spicy, flavorful, this dish alone would be enough to get me back. The chicken tikka masala was good too. Nothing that special about it, but flavorful and went well with the gobi. The one part of the meal that was a bust was the Aloo Fry. This may be popular for some people, but for us, the undercooked lentils made it almost inedible. The flavor was great, and the potato was excellent, but there were a lot of lentils that were rock hard. If it has not been for this dish it would have been a 5 start meal. read more

I ordered for pick up but I was pretty impressed by their clean and modern restaurant. I had a pretty early scheduled pick up so I ended up having to wait a little extra. It was ok though because they gave me a nice cup of hot milk tea while I waited and it was so good! I ordered the Chicken Lunchbox and it was a great deal! Two types of chicken, I think it was tandoori style and the other was a curry. It had daal and another creamed spinach onion stew and a big serving of rice and naan. My wife and I constantly crave Indian food and, while we rarely visit Indian restaurants strictly for a buffet, we enjoy the variety of items that only a buffet can provide. My wife grew up in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina, which possesses multiple restaurants specializing in grand weekend buffets offering a vast array of items. We are always on the hunt for similar places, and Mayuri seemed to fit the bill based on reviews. As such, we decided to visit the Herndon restaurant for a Sunday brunch. We found the buffet selection a more modest affair than the more vast selections we are used to and in comparison to other reviewers' more elaborate descriptions. Think about 6ish vegetarian and nonveg items each, plus the standard accoutrement (naan, rice, chutney, etc), and you'll get a more accurate picture. Despite the smaller selection than expected, we still enjoyed our meal. The staff consistently refilled items throughout service, and the food tasted reasonably fresh. Furthermore, while we ate amply, we did not find the food overly rich or oily as is the case at numerous other Indian restaurants. We also appreciated the Andhra focused flavors, as these often are harder to find than standard North Indian fare and speak to my wife's heritage and palate. Some highlights of our meal included fluffy idli with tangy sambar, juicy and well spiced tandoori chicken, and a well prepared gongura mutton curry. The dining room seemed clean if not a bit spartan. The weekend buffet costs $19.99 per person. We have no reference point for Indian buffet costs in the area yet, but found this an okay value given the quantity of items on offer. Overall, we had a good meal at Mayuri and found the buffet food fresh and tasty. The selection did not wow us but the quality of cooking was there. If in need of a quick weekend buffet lunch with South Indian flavors, Mayuri will hit the the spot. read more

I want to give this place 4+ stars. The food is actually good and fresh. South Indian preparations, tried the Sunday buffet to sample a bunch of things. The chaat corner with spinach chaat, pani poori, mirchi Bhajji chaat, amongst others were good. Their sambhar is delicious and many varieties of coconut chutneys. Tried Mayuri for the first time tonight and already looking forward to ordering again! We had it delivered. Our order included Chettinadu chicken, butter chicken, malai kofta, and vegetable jalfreezi. Everything tasted fresh and I really loved the spice mix on the Chettinadu chicken. The jalfreezi used freshly prepared vegetables and they were cooked just the way I like, just lightly softened but still some bite . The butter chicken was comforting as it should be. The malai kofta had a pleasant taste and texture, but the sauce was a little sweet for me. The rice was very fluffy. We also ordered paratha and it was freshly made. I could have eaten nothing but oarotha and been happy. Can't wait to try more! read more

Mayuri advertises itself as the 'largest Indian lunch buffet in NoVA', and they may be right! Their selection is of a good variety, including appetizers, salads, soups, rice entrees, chicken/vegetarian/goat dishes, tandoori chicken, sides, curries, and desserts. I particularly enjoyed their tandoori chicken, as it was well-cooked, juicy, and had a lot of flavor on its exterior. The chicken curry was also another favorite, as while the sauce could have been a bit thicker, it was still tasty. Besides the basket of naan that is from the kitchen, there was puffy bread as a part of the buffet that was more thick and pillowy, and it tasted great scooping up the sauces. A cold mango drink dispenser was located towards the end, and that was refreshing. Some of the items were forgettable, such as the chewy fried veggies/pakora and the chats. Service was friendly, and our water was always refilled and our cleaned dishes were taken away promptly. Getting the check took some time, but only because the place started to become busy for the lunch rush. However, the chicken and goat were all super tender and tasty. There is a chai station, but the little bathroom sized cups are so tiny. 1-2 for the service. No menu, no price, no indication of what to do. You walk in and the greeter seats you (she also is the cashier). There is a bottle of water on the table (I didnt ask and it comes with your meal). You then just get to the buffet line. No one talks to you or brings you anything, but they do clear your plate away if you walk up for plate number 2. I noticed there was another indian buffet place a few storefront down, but the buffet wasnt as extensive, but it was a few bucks cheaper. So, weekday lunch of $13.01 + tips wasn't too bad. Tried weekdays and weekends lunch buffets here many times. Each time eaten there the foods were just amazing, aromatic, incredible rich flavors with delicious marinated spices transported me to India as I was there enjoying authentic experiences of local cuisines. The restaurant staffs were super friendly busy worked hard to accommodate all customers. The variety of buffet dishes with tea and ice cream desert just made pleasant, enjoyable and provide opportunity moment slow down to soak in the experiences of a simple day. I do imagine running a restaurant is hard and even more challenge offered buffet style so the local customers get to sample the variety of Indian cuisine cooking. My greatest compliments to restaurant owner and staffs, hope could continue the great services weekly in anyway could to local community. Coming out of the pandemic, economic going through inflation, global ongoing turmoil conflicts, etc... restaurants humbly need community strong local customers support in anyway could greatly appreciated to continue offer variety cuisines locally. Ordered on DoorDash Price: decent compared to places like Bollywood Food: got the usuals Butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. Both dishes came with white meat breast with a good amount of piece. I'm not a huge fan of white meat but I know other people could appreciate it. For me, should be made with dark meat always, I got the chicken tikka spicy and BOY WAS IT SPICY. Ate lunch buffet with a Thai friend 9 June 2024. I am Thai and know exotic food. The food at Mayuri Indian restaurant in Herndon, VA is ABYSMAL. If I could give it zero stars or less I would. Every dish of the buffet was so salty it could not be eaten or it so overwhelmingly spicy it could not be eaten AND I AM THAI !!! I gave them a 13.84% tip before taxes (rounded up to $50) but wanted to give no tip at all, total $50 for two people. And to top it all off, TODAY 24 June 2024 we got our credit card statement and they charged $55 when the receipt CLEARLY SAYS $50 with tip and taxes. Since the card is associated with our local band WE HAVE TO GO TO THE BANK TO SHOW THE RECEIPT !!!! All for $5 that I suppose they did NOT expect we would NOTICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must assume the people who gave this restaurant the many good reviews you see on Yelp either didn't really eat there or are Indian natives accustomed to rotting offal for a meal. read more

What food we received was delicious. It seemed that their kitchen was a bit chaotic, and we had difficulty getting our food delivered in a timely manner. We ended up having to leave before our final entree was delivered. We were there for over an hour and a half! They mentioned that one of the dishes (tandoori) takes longer to cook, and perhaps that should be mentioned ahead of time. But ironically, the one dish that didn't get delivered was not the one that took extra time! I would give it another chance if I'm in Herndon again. I originally found this restaurant through door dash, but it has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat. The food is AMAZING and flavourful! I haven't had anything I don't like yet. Even more so, the service is fantastic as well. I just celebrated my 40th birthday there and they went above and beyond to help make it special, from providing candles and festive music, to just very attentive service. It was most of my group's first time there and they all commented on both the fantastic food and service. Don't let the barebones appearance concern you, the food was some of the best Indian food we've had. We started out with a unique dosa beautifully presented!
