This is really an amazing carryout/pickup restaurant that has a unique and tasty approach to Indian cuisine. The cuisine spans all of India and even includes Indo-Chinese. The location is within the grocery store Lotte. There's no seating area, it's literally just a counter with a kitchen in the back. Yet, out of that small, humble, and clean kitchen they prepare some of the best Indian cuisine I've had. The pictures I took really don't do the food justice. The food was hot and visually appealing; unlike the pics I took. The colors of the food were actually vibrant; the palak paneer being a brighter green. The malai kofta was in a yellow gravy not the beige that my camera captured. The naan was steaming, moist and adorned w/fresh cilantro and garlic. The Aloo (potato) had a perfect peppery crust garnished with cuts of green onion. And the mushroom mafia had mushrooms and capsicum blended into a tasty Masala gravy. Everything was prepared and packaged well. You can order online, by phone or through any of the popular food delivery services. Don't think twice, this place is great at what they do and it's shockingly economical. They have some great bulk ordering options like the Family Package and a daily/weekly tiffin bundle. And bingo, the food was so delicious at such low prices. Ordered mushroom dosa, Mysore masala dosa, and masala dosa. The mushroom dosa was good but the other dosas lack flavor. Sambar and chutney were good. Mushroom was tasty. The filing in the masala dosa and Mysore was tasteless. Mysore had no spice. Masala dosa also lacked flavor. I think b the size of the kitchen is problem. I did go about 15 days earlier and faced similar situation for getting the food for my 3 year old waited for 30 mins along with 5 other Possibly due to staff shortage and not taking care of logistics and lack of coordination internally Please plan to wait about 1- 1.30 hrs in case if u wish to order . Thanks to Yelp for letting me know this place has great food, and they definitely do! And at a very reasonable price. SSB has some of the best sambar in the region. Great flavor and a very nice undercurrent of heat in the soup. The idli and vada still arrive fresh when I order online, this has quickly become one of my favorite dishes in Herndon/Reston. Other delicious dishes to try here: Chana masala, mysore masala dosa, and the veggie korma. I look forward to trying more and more of their menu, while always getting some of that sambar! read more

We catered through Sai Saravanan Bhavan for an event, and had requested a South Indian menu that had ~15 items. They were punctual with the delivery, and the food was absolutely delicious. Fresh, fragrant and ample quantity. They show high integrity and pride in their service - one of the trays came through in a smaller size than what was ordered, and it could have easily gone unnoticed. Unbeknown, they came back 30 minutes later with the promised tray size, leaving me puzzled on why? Later in conversation I was told the reason. Wow wow wow. I just had this food for the first time and it's so delicious that I only took a few bites of everything and I had to stop to write this review right away. I had the plaque paneer, some he's and carrots in a sauce. I can't remember what I asked for. I've been here a few times and I am always pleased with the food. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty. I would recommend ordering in advance as only two people are doing all the work. I am reserving one star because the rice, which they give you ample amounts of, could be improved. When I put leftover rice from an order into my refrigerator, which I keep Just above freezing, the next day I found it full of water and dried up rice. We went there this Diwali and it was a bit hard to locate since they have a pretty small establishment inside Lotte Plaza. But do not let the size fool you. What this joint lacks in size, they make it up with exquisite taste and generous portions (seriously a lot of food). We bought the Diwali Special Dinner and it was hands down the best Diwali meal I have had in a long time. It costed around $26 for 2 curries, 4 chapatis, 1 large fried rice, 2 rice bowls, 4 gulab jamuns, papaddum and payasam! Every item was super tasty! This is a gem of a place tucked away at the back in Lotte @ Herndon. We loved the dosas and the roti-sabzi combo meals. The prices are reasonable, though the wait times are on the longer side. This is not about the food, it's about their delivery and I decided to stop ordering food. They are not dependable to serve a hungry person. Would like to share the experience I had at this location. I do have a different business and rarely share my bad reviews like this as it impacts the business. This is the third time out of several orders I placed earlier. I did a phone order(I was at Herndon at the time of order) at 11:48am for the S2B special Thali last Sunday(8/22/21). They said it be ready in 10-15 minutes. I was there at the counter around 12:05pm, checked outside if my food is ready. Not yet. Waited. I was standing few feet away and no one care to ask me if I need any help. Then at 12:10pm, I asked the status of my order as no one bother to ask me if I'm waiting for my food. A lady checked and said, I see your order and we will pack it for you. Give me about 5 minutes. In this meantime, they serviced few orders. I waited few feet away right in front of the counter and i could see each one of them. No courtesy in sharing any update as they are busy with their work. It's 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes past. At 12:40pm, my food isn't packed yet. For a Thali, in my simple logic, it should be a matter of assembling the already packed smaller items and no other preparation like dosa or curry preparation. There is a chappati, not sure if they heat and provide or cook after getting the order. To pack these items should it take over 50 minutes and still not ready?
