In 50 years of restaurant dining from McDonalds to haute cuisine in multiple global cities I experienced something at Ashburn Biryanis Grill that I've never encountered anywhere else-- beggars. That's right, a woman and a baby at the entrance and a second woman with a baby at our table. This is entirely inappropriate. I don't care how good the food and service are. This is Ashburn Virginia, not Bangalore! I told the management and they did nothing. The beggars were still there when we left. The decore is nice. The food as good, but that's negated by this bizarre occurrence. read more

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. The service was poor from start to finish. My phone order was not processed correctly, and when I arrived at the restaurant, I had to wait an additional 25 minutes before receiving my food. The mutton biryani was equally disappointing. Compared to my previous visits, it had noticeably fewer pieces of mutton. The pieces that were included were unusually bony and, unfortunately, many of them were burnt, which significantly affected the taste and quality. On my previous visits, I had also noticed that multiple staff members answer the phone, and at least one of them could benefit from additional training in handling customer calls and communicating with U.S. customers more effectively. I overlooked those issues because the biryani had always been excellent. Sadly, this visit was different. Between the poor service, the long wait, and the decline in the quality of the biryani, it was a disappointing experience. I hope the restaurant addresses these issues and returns to the quality that made me a repeat customer. An if owners are reading, my orders are under name 'Singh' read more

I ordered four boneless chicken biryanis for pickup on a Saturday evening. When I arrived the staff didn't know which orders were ready -- I waited seated for 10 minutes while a front‑of‑house employee repeatedly asked for my order and seemed unsure whether it was prepared. After another 20 minutes my order was finally found sitting on the counter; it had likely been sitting for a while. At home the biryani was cold and bland. Short version: long, disorganized wait; confused staff; cold, poor‑quality food. Spent over $60 and left disappointed. The restaurant needs better order tracking, clearer communication with customers, and improvements to food temperature and flavor. I won't be returning. read more

As usual, this place has good food, but bad service. The chicken lollipop was crispy and the bang bang chicken was seasoned well. The butter chicken was creamy and paired nicely with the garlic naan. The chicken biryani was the perfect amount of spicy, but, just like last time, took forever to come out. Also, the waiters took a while to take our orders and didn't bring out the food in a logical order. Additionally, the mango lassi didn't have that great of a mango flavor and had too much yogurt compared to milk ratio. However, the food here generally is authentic and seasoned nicely. read more

I am solely rating this on our takeout experience, we did not eat inside! In all fairness to the staff as well, it was a busy Saturday night. A sit down experience may be better. We placed our order at 7:30 pm for a pick up time of 8:15pm, which was the earliest we could. We arrived there around 8:15pm to pick up our order and did not recieve it until 9:02pm. We waited nearly an entire hour for a takeout order, in all fairness the waiting area seemed clean and had seats. The staff continually told us the entire time we waited that it would only be a few more minutes. They did apologize at the end and said that people had been taking the wrong orders. For the food, we ordered two butter chickens, one chicken saag, a garlic Naan and a mango lassi. They were fine, the chicken saag was the best of the dishes and the Naan was cold. We definitely wouldn't order takeout from here again. read more

This is located in Ashburn, where the old Red Robin used to be. They used the same Signature handles on the front doors as Red Robin. Their menu consists of South Indian specialties, rice/noodle dishes, veg/non-veg entrees, desserts, etc. We ordered the following: Lemon chicken tikka - this was hot, mildly spicy, delicious, but on the salty side. Spicy chicken vindaloo - asked for spicy, but wasn't terribly spicy but it was tasty and this came with rice. Butter bourbon cake - very moist, melt in your mouth, the ice cream wasn't necessary as it was good on its own. Molten lava chocolate cake - devoured by kids within minutes. The restaurant is very large with plenty of seating and elegantly decorated. The chairs are similar to those used at the Aldie location. The service was interesting. They were eager to take the order and were standing there while we were browsing the menu. Once the food came, they were still lined up against the wall, but not clearing the table as dishes were finished. We ordered dessert with extra spoons and we had to ask for additional plates. Since they didn't clear the table, we ate dessert around all the dishes. Would I return? Probably read more

The best biryani grill its food is so good and always super hot and the service is so fast. Since this biryani grill is bigger the wait is non existent read more

Love this place. Lived in the area a long time, couldn't find an Indian restaurant to my liking. After 20 years, this place wins. Food is great. Took a bit to figure out the wait staff doesn't come to your table with frequency to check up on you. The modus operandi is for you to call them over if you're in need. read more

Food is tasty, but somwhat pricey. Mango Lassi is outrageous and such a small cup when ordering TO-GO. If you cater some of the Biryani it makes more sense dollarwise - as each entree is $20 plus and portions are on the smaller side. read more

The food was fresh and very tasty. Our waiter Lokesh was great. He explained the different dishes and was there to answer any questions and make sure we were satisfied. We will be back. It was a great experience. read more

Came by for a quick lunch by myself. The ambience is 10/10. This used to be Red Robin, and they really did an impressive job with the decor! Alex served me and he was absolutely gracious, kind and attentive. The chicken dum biryani was incredible, and full of flavor. Mango Lassi was a really nice touch and calmed the spice. I will definitely be returning with my family. read more

The service and food were amazing. Food was fantastic, we had tava fish fry, chicken curry, naan, and rice. Everything came out fast, fresh, and tasted great! I also love the fact that each dish had ingredients and possible allergens listed, very thoughtful. We will definitely be back! read more

Visited Ashburn Biryani Grill on the evening of May 28th around 7 PM. Ordered paneer curry and garlic naan. The garlic naan was stale and clearly not fresh. The paneer curry had a strong, off smell from the vegetables. The smell was bad enough that I could not eat the food. When I raised the concern, the server was polite and brought the manager over. The manager insisted everything was fresh and dismissed the complaint entirely. Stale bread and vegetables with a spoilage smell should never have left that kitchen. No customer should have to argue with a manager about whether the food in front of them smells bad. I left without eating. If you dine here, pay attention to what arrives at your table. Food quality is really bad.. read more

I love this place. The food is pretty good, though one time I made mistake and ordered medium instead of mild! Ouch lol. I love the paneer butter masala. Yum! In general, you can't beat the price for the serving size! I've done take out and dine in, and the ambiance really is great. It feels very elegant, nice design. And I personally really appreciate that there are not Hindu idols anywhere in sight. I always have a struggle in my conscience because of my own beliefs to eat food from a restaurant with those kind of statues and figurines around so I do deeply appreciate getting to enjoy Indian food without having to worry about that! read more

RACISTS!!! We got here on their 1-year anniversary on 3/13/26 and was told there was a wait for a table. We patiently waiting for over 30 minutes, and watched as the hostess and the manager sat several families who came after us who were Indian! I thought those people all had reservations until I asked the hostess and she said NO! I then asked why she sat them before us and she had no reply! DISGUSTING behavior. If you're BLACK or anything but Indian, DO NOT GO HERE. read more

New favorite Indian spot!! Spice level is close to authentic so go with Mild if you don't like the heat. Chicken Tikka masala = Excellent Goat curry = Excellent chicken 65 biryani = Excellent Veg dum biryani = Excellent Mutton biryani = Excellent Inside looks great as well but we ordered takeout. I have no pics because we ate everything!!!! :) read more

Holy cow (no pun intended) but i will never forget this meal. Goat biryani, garlic naan, karampodi chicken. If you like flavorful and spicy food this will be your goto. I did get medium spicy but I'm almost 1000% sure it's hotter than you think so just get mild. I'm literally still sweating. But either way, I must have eaten nothing but northern cuisine all my days bc this was totally different and they don't dumb it down for American tastebuds which i can appreciate. 10/10 highly recommended. Use the white sauce to mellow out if need be. read more

Never had this horrible food. Ordered bhendi masala. One would have surely known if he they cut bhendi that it is beyond bad. Probably vegetable was a month or two old. They were not even chewable. I thought maybe some might be like that and tried more and all of them were bad. Will never go to this restaurant again. I am already having stomach ache as soon as I had dinner. I ate dal makhani. That was made with malai kofta curry i think. Both the curries turned out miserable. Roti is not digestible. It was not mafe out of wheat flour. Wasted 50$ and got stomach ache as well. read more

Food was great! Interior is nice and comfortable. I'm sure service will improve as the restaurant gets more experience (brand new restaurant). Our food was brought out in pieces rather than together which was strange. Butter chicken curry was served but rice was 5 min after. Soda is brought out in a can. It's also hard to determine if the servers are working as a team or individually. One person brought water and silverware and says our order will be taken shortly but then another person actually comes and takes the order, someone else delivers the food. Not saying there's a right way, great American restaurants have a similar model, but explaining for a first timer would help. read more

idek where to start. the food was not good. anything we asked for spicy was not spicy at all. they just kept bringing one dish at a time and the portions weren't so big (there were 6 of us). the service was also insanely slow. there were bigger families that were seated after us but were given their orders much faster. we were waiting for about an hour for our food, which again was only being brought out one at a time until we said something. also anytime we asked for anything like another place or glass or more water, our server wouldn't get it just started helping other tables and then we would have to ask someone else. like i was just not happy with anything about his place tbh. happiest moment was probably paying and being able to leave read more

Not bad not great. Cold Nanna and dry and cold rice, but the Karam Podi Chicken and he Gongura Biryani were excellent. Waiter was very slow and not good. I will give them another chance. read more

Good Indian food fast and clean.first time see Indian restaurant is full with Indian people.

I ordered delivery service on July fourth when some friends decided to drop by and my fridge was empty! It was a bit of a risk, as I had never eaten there or even heard of this place before, but the risk paid off. We were able to schedule delivery time in advance and the food arrive on time and hot! Everyone enjoyed the varieties of dishes we ordered (with varying levels of heat) with some fantastic naan. I don't know enough about south Asian cuisine to parse through the flavor profiles of each dish but I know enough to know that it was delicious. Looking forward to ordering again soon. read more

Love their boneless chicken pulav, I get it almost every week and everything's here tastes really good.

Stopped in for a casual dinner and left impressed by the bold flavors and speedy service. The pachi mirchi chicken was the standout--spicy but balanced, with great depth that made each bite memorable. The chicken dum biryani was tasty as well; seasoning was on point, though the rice leaned a little overcooked for preference. The mango lassi was delicious--creamy, refreshing, and a perfect cool-down alongside the heat from the mains. Ambience was pleasantly modern yet comfortable, and service was fast without feeling rushed. Overall, an easy recommendation for flavorful Indian dishes with quick turnarounds; a small tweak on biryani rice texture would make it a home run. read more

Everything was amazing. Ambience was modern and upscale. Service was great and quick. And best of all, the food was amazing. Great quantity. And I couldn't believe the price was so low. $14 a main course curry? I used to pay that 6 years ago in Maryland prior to Covid. We will be a regular even though we are an hour away. I ordered food for pickup. The first issue was that they gave me the wrong food item. When I called them, they didn't even acknowledge their mistake and simply ended the call. Second, regarding the food, it was not hot at all. I ordered at 5:30 PM and picked my order up at 6:00 PM. I started eating at 6:30 PM, so there is no way the food would have become cold in 30 minutes. They clearly gave me old food that was prepared earlier, possibly during lunch. read more

I ordered a few different curries with garlic naan. They easily modify their recipes to different spice tolerances, and everything we ordered was delicious. Wonderful food with a lovely flavor. Meaghne helped me find a great dinner- butter chicken that was just a little spicy but not over the top. Meaghne was wonderfully attentive. Very nice decor and well lit. I would love to come back. read more

Loved their winter menu. Cozy ambiance and attentive service. Biryani's are the best, very consistent.

On a Friday evening, we ordered pepper chicken as appetizer and gongura chicken biryani. We received some chicken curry instead of pepper chicken and gongura chicken is all curry with no chicken and few spoons of rice. When we called about the appetizer, the girl tells they will refund the money but how she didn't mentioned and hung up the phone. We thought this restaurant is different but I think it's the same as any Indian restaurant. Very very disappointed with the food and hope they look into these things and take care of the customers with respect read more

Biryanis is ok. Rice cooked little over and hit and miss. No consistency and have been salty most of the time.

Awful chicken biryani with an aftertaste of some kind of Indian masala and the chicken legs were burnt. The samosa chat was a big mass of soggy donkey shit with taste to match. I was expecting much better food. read more
