I came seeking something easy on the stomach, but good on the tastebuds. I landed a lightly…read moreseasoned tofu dish with a mouthwatering onion and pepper flavor, and a convincingly decadent chocolate cake. Plenty of other options were available for when I get my tolerance for spicy food back, as the place leans Szechuan. Takeout was an efficient process even though they did not take online payments; I just paid when I got there. The location is a bit past the airport, which is probably a better place to look for Chinese food than most of downtown DC.

I've found Cheng's to be a reliable go-to when I am craving good Chinese food. Their portions are…read moregenerous, and many dishes are packed with bold flavor and freshness, whether you are in the mood for something spicy, savory, or mild. You get good food at reasonable prices. Some of my favorites include Crispy Shredded Beef in Spicy Sauce, Fried Chicken Nuggets with Basil (a Taiwanese native favorite), and Wrinkled String Beans. Crispy Shrimp with Honey Walnuts is also really good. They offer a wide variety from stir-fries and noodle dishes to seafood, pork, beef, and vegetarian/vegan-friendly options. The kitchen is very accommodating. If you want milder spice, less oil, or custom tweaks, they seem pretty open to it. Because it's not one of those fancy places, the vibe stays relaxed and unpretentious, which I personally like. It's nice for families, friends, or a simple meal out without fuss. I also like to order take-out. :)

The food is consistently great. My personal favorites are the Shaking Beef, Lump Crab Fried Rice, Tamarind Fish Soup, and the Stone Pot Soft Shell Crab. Those are must-orders for me every time. I've tried several other dishes too, and honestly everything has been good. The place has a warm, welcoming vibe. It's family-run, and you can feel the friendly service every time you visit. They also have Karaoke night every Friday, which makes it a fun spot to hang out with friends. If you're in the Chantilly area and craving Vietnamese food, this place is definitely worth a visit. PS. If I forget to take a pic, you know it's definitely good

My fiance and I LOVE this spot, and are so happy to find a great Viet spot in our area. We used to go to the Eden Center for Viet food, and still do, but it is nice to find a spot in Chantilly. Every dish we had for dinner was so so good. Crispy egg noodle, combo 100/10 I cannot stop raving about their egg noodles. Normally I get this dish at dimsum places like Hong Kong pearl. But this is BETTER! Ok first, the noodles retain their crunch even in the sauce. Second the sauce is a sauce; not a gravy. Third, the veggies and meat really are nicely coated in the sauce, it stays so flavorful, especially the brocolli. Beef banana leaf salad 10/10 This is the second time trying this and it is always the perfect amount of spiciness. I could eat this alone or with rice. I do think that there's too much onion, bc I needed a mint for sure after this. haha! Crab fried rice: 8/10 I liked the wok taste, but they include crunchy rice and crunchy garlic chunks, it's a new fried rice texture I'm not quite used to. I liked it, but I was hoping that the rice was fluffier. I also wished that there were bigger crab chunks that were visible in the dish. Overall, still tasty. But I don't know if I'd order it again. I think their specialty dishes are better than their soup dishes (ie. pho, bun rieu, bun bon hue). If you order more stir fried or other dishes it would be better !! But just my opinion The restaurant is one of my TOP FAVS! It's beautiful interior paired with really good food makes it a fav spot!

The pork cutlet was not dry or tough. The panko or outer portion was cooked extremely well, where it was a golden brown and crunchy. The staff continues to be super friendly and accommodating. You can make reservations if you'd like, but the place was relatively empty when we went. There's not much seating inside, so I wouldn't recommend going in a group larger than 4 people. The service was okay, it took a while for the dishes to come out and for us to get water. We also let the waiter know that we have a vegetarian in the group and he let us know he was pescatarian and gave us his recommendations. We ordered the miso mushroom udon pasta, which came with fish flakes on top. We asked for it to be re-made without fish flakes and he apologized. In terms of the food overall, the portions were small for the price. The tofu curry came with 4 pieces of fried tofu and a small portion of rice and curry. It was also kinda bland, but was fixed with sauces on the side. There was a good amount of vegetables in the curry though. The pork tonkatsu appetizer and cucumber salad did taste flavorful and were crispy, would recommend. They paired well with the sauces that came on the side as well. The mushroom miso udon was different. The sauce was creamy and umami but needed some spice. Overall, the food isn't really conducive to vegetarians, but the ambiance and vibe are nice for a happy hour.
