Whatever you do, get in there and enjoy the delicious eats & drinks, wonderful atmosphere and terrific friendly, helpful staff.

Okay, I have to admit that I honestly am not a fan of English beers, namely because I just don't like the way they are made (they tend to taste like flat soft drink), but it is still cool that they have them available, no doubt because it makes me feel like I'm actually in England. Yeah, this place is awesome. Oh, and they have a beer garden as well.

Ok, I know I gave the Brickworks Beer Garden four stars, but it is the weirdest pub I've ever been…read moreto. But hey, it works. Behind the permanent fixture of the icecream and donut fixture, up some brick stairs (watch out for loose bricks), above the rubble and wild greenery that is the Brickworks, is the Brickie's Beer Garden. Inside there is a shabby old stage, some wooden tables and benches, and what looks like the dodgiest speakeasy this side of Ho Chi Minh. It sort of just an open air corrugated iron shed - hence the term 'beer garden'. Out the back is an outdoor setting with more tables and chairs under the sun. Vines wrap around the supporting beams inside and out. Behind the stage is a big hand painted sign saying 'BEERGARDEN', with palm trees and an oasis horizon. If you're there on a Sunday afternoon a bunch of elderly rockers are likely to be playing classics from beyond the grave. It's surprisingly enjoyable. Behind the bar is loads of strange ephemera - photos of performers and patrons and ancient Coopers promotional junk. Oh and some fuzzy headed bartenders. The folks here are real nice, if a bit toasted. Some friends decided they should try and play some gigs there, but talking to the staff was mighty confusing. I reckon the Brickie's Beergarden is a real find. A pleasant place with a big ole outdoor setting, deserted on a Sunday, perfect for a few beers after playing soccer at King's Reserve. There is no EFTPOS, so bring cash.

The staff are always friendly, the order at the counter service is efficient and great for groups (none of that - "I had x,y,z... well who had the a,b,c" messiness that comes with splitting the bill). It can get incredibly busy and bookings are reccommended (even if you just call on the day or when you are on your way in) They host a weekly quiz night and there is a huge members base that participate frequently - a lot of local competition. Highly recommended.

This is definitely one of those places, which has been transformed into a pretty awesome pub actually. Eagles Club & Bar Bistro…read more Eagles Bistro is one of those friendly contemporary pub and restaurants catering for the elderly, or the hungry like I was. The service was instant and affable, whilst ordering at the bar, one of the staff overheard my drink order and immediately snapped open a ice cold cider and handed it to me. I cheerfully sat down and waited minutes for food to come careening out the kitchen door onto my table. I gambled on this simple pub food and ordered a half-dozen oysters. Surprisingly they were vibrant and fresh, with a healthy douse Worcestershire sauce. Next came the Chicken Burger, due to my 'Burger Fiend' status. The chips were well seasoned with chicken salt which I pondered on for a while with friends as to why they had sprinkled chicken flavoured salt on, because chicken was already the main feature of the dish. However the burger was delectable and full of the usual suspects all lathered with a spicy barbeque sauce. Not bad for $16. Unfortunately the wonderful experience was dampened by a sighting of a giant pepper shaker, that wasn't even offered to me by the waiting staff. A shameful display, I'll live on...

Anyway, the pub isn't too fancy, probably more a place for the residents to come a have a meal, or a few beers. This was hot and cold veggies and salads to accompany your meal even if it's served with chips..which most meals are. You go to the counter to order and pay for your meal. Once it's ready it is brought to your table. The person who brought it was pleasant and made sure we knew about the veggies bar. I enjoyed a rump steak, while others had calamari and fish and chips. There's also a small casino in the front portion where you can get your fill of pokies. I'll visit again someday...I hope

I've lived away and come back with fresh eyes. I've been there with friends. I've been there on dates. I've been there for family occasions. I've eaten there, drunk there, seen live music there. But I've never really warmed to the place. It's such a magnificent heritage building. Absolutely stunning. Full of promise. Inside just lacks character for me. Hard to pinpoint exactly what. Friday nights seem to be the young crowd. Sometimes the taxis are queued up as it's so busy. There are events there, like the recent cider festival. There are rooms to book for functions. You can get a decent meal there and the wine list is good. So, by all means, join the many who enjoy it here. There's nothing wrong with it. And if you can work out why it just doesn't feel right to me, let me know!

The theme is based on the tale of the flying trunk. The cocktails are delicious. We had the salted caramel star and the so flute. I loved the little pretzel star in the salted caramel. They also serve tapas food. They also serve tapas food. We had the pan fried gnocchi with artichokes, and the buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes. Mmm! The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The cocktails are $17 - $20. The tapas is under $15. We also had a lovely conversation with the owner evi about the design of the place. I'd love to come back again on my way home from workies :) Nothing much more I can add to what Karen F had commented, both Adam & Evi are great hosts. Very attentive and explained both the cocktails and food very well and enticed us into trying them. Enjoyable evening.

I have only been here for a wine and cocktail so far but this place really adds to the quirky little shops, bakeries and cafes that are popping up on KWR! Fast and friendly service, combined with some unique concoctions and names of cocktails means you will spend most of your time there deciding which cocktail you'll get when you next return. The Elephant Espress is on my list to try next time. If you are like my other half though and think cocktail is for cordial drinkers then never fear - the wine and beer list is for quoffers and swirlers alike. These guys take their booze seriously and I am definitely signing up for one of their monthly "tasting flight masterclasses" in the future.
