It gets crowded later as most Indians/Pakistanis eat dinner late in the evening, like 9pm . So pro-tip for Indo-Paki restaurants is to go around 7pm. We ordered Tandoori wings, Mattar Paneer, Shrimp masala and Butter naans. Tandoori wings were served sizzling which was nice. Perfectly cooked. Shrimp masala was good but not quite jumbo sized shrimp but still good. Mattar paneer was standard bay area quality. Our server was nice and courteous. We have been here a number of times and I do not think we have found something we do not like. The HH is delicious! With samosas, chicken pakora, and wings. You cannot go wrong with ANY of those. I'm not a vodka drinker and all of their HH drinks are pretty much vodka based, but they're delicious! We have had chicken madras, chicken biryani, and garlic/regular Naan and it was all delicious. You can choose your spicy level. Come in during the week for their HH which ends at 6:30pm and you cannot go wrong. My husband and I share with our toddler daughter and we all leave very satisfied. The service is also superb. We everyone is nice and welcoming and you are taken care of. The atmosphere is kid friendly and quiet enough to talk with each other but not super quiet that it is awkward. You cannot go wrong with a meal here. Rasoi is hands down one of the best Indian restaurants in the Bay Area! We ordered the Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Tikka Masala, garlic basil naan, basmati rice, an IPA, and their complimentary ice cream for dessert. Let me just say... wow! The Chicken Tandoori was one of the best I've ever had. It was perfectly cooked, incredibly juicy, and packed with flavor. This was actually my first time trying Chicken Tikka Masala, and I completely understand why it's such a popular dish. It was rich, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and not greasy at all. Paired with the garlic basil naan, every bite was absolutely delicious. I'm Middle Eastern Americam Afghan, and our cuisine is known for using a lot of herbs, spices, and bold flavors. Because of that, I'm very picky and skeptical when trying new restaurants. Rasoi exceeded every expectation I had. Every dish was seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. I also have to give a huge shoutout to the manager, Axel. He went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing experience. He has outstanding customer service, an incredible personality, and so much passion for both the food and the restaurant. To the owners: you truly found a gem. It's hard to find someone who treats a restaurant like it's their own, and Axel definitely does. I'd also like to recognize our wonderful server. Walking through downtown Burlingame not knowing what to get for dinner, we got flagged down by Axel offering samples of tikka masala and naan. Honestly, that sealed the deal. Rasoi it was. We ordered the Rogan Josh Lamb, Butter Chicken, Onion Kulcha, Garlic Naan, and Pulao, and everything was delicious. We've walked past this place so many times but never stopped in. Definitely a mistake. It's now going into our regular rotation. The Rogan Josh lamb was an awesome recommendation. Deep, savory, and full of flavor. The butter chicken was equally great. The samosas were crispy and well-seasoned, and the tandoori chicken was juicy with great flavor. Hands-down one of my favorite restaurants EVER. I've been coming here for years and this spot has never let me down with its consistently delish dishes, attentive service, and casual ambiance! I have quite a few favorites here but my top ones are: - chicken tikka masala - saag paneer - aloo paratha - lamb shish kebab I can honestly eat them every day. This time around, we ordered the vegetable pakora and the paneer makhani which was my first time trying them both. The pakora was so crispy and not too oily, and the makhani was so creamy and tasty. Me and a couple friends popped into Rasoi for dinner around 5:30pm. It was quite empty with only one family seated in this large restaurant. I wasn't sure if it was a red flag at first but I later learned that we were just early as more people trickled in for dinner time to the point where the restaurant was mostly full when we left. Anyway, I was immediately acknowledged and seated which I appreciated. We then placed our orders and food came out pretty quickly! We ordered: lamb biriyani, garlic naan, saag paneer, and chicken tikki masala. All of the plates were delicious! However, I do feel like the chicken tikki masala seemed a bit watery and had such small pieces of chicken in there. But, everything else seemed great! We all enjoyed our meal & appreciated the service to the point where my friends and I were chatting about how attentive they were. Walked in when they just opened , got seated and ordered a few happy hour items to start and a chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan. Fish pakora were freshly fried and had an amazing crunch! We also had the samosas that were delicious! The puff pastry was perfect and the inside mixture was perfectly seasoned! Both apps went great with the chutneys they offered with our meal. We also got the tandoori wings and they had the right amount of seasoning and they came out smoking hot(literally sizzling on a plate) we ended the meal with our curry and naan and I had a few happy hour beers (great selection btw) Sumana was our server and she's made the night for us , great service and great food! By far the BEST Indian food in the Bay Area! We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Everything on the menu is delicious. The mixed Tandoori plate is a must, along with the Murgh Masala, Chicken Tikka Masala etc. Great location. Friendly service, always. We were informed that happy hour is every day not just Monday through Thursday like their menu advertises. We tried the tandoori wings which were delicious, but a few of the wings were a little pink. The pomegranate cosmo was very bright and tart. Have never received a cosmo with a salt rim, so that was different. Food Review Samosas ($8) two crisp vegetable puffs filled with potatoes, peas, and spices are pretty big, enough to be cut up in two. Nice crisp crust and soft interior. 8.5/10 mixed tandoori ($24) assortment of chicken, lamb, fresh fish, and prawns. We had chicken and prawns, with the prawns being the better of the two. You can vary spiciness. 8.5/10 murgh makhani ($19) boneless chicken simmered in a mild creamy tomato sauce was very well done. More creamy than anticipated. Assorted appetizers - samosa, vegetable pakoras, and papadum ($7) is an easy way to try a lot of different items. The samosas and pakoras are full of deep-fried goodness. 8/10 Chicken tikka masala ($19) tandoori boneless chicken sauteed with herbs, spices, tomatoes, and cream is it good version of the classic, not too creamy. Most importantly before I begin the review of my first visit for dine-in just want to add I am so grateful that I took the time to make reservations online a day prior just to be 100% we would be given a table guaranteed on one of the busiest night s for dining out with family . That was one less thing to stress about . When we walked in about 10 minutes early- reservation was for 4 persons at 7:15 pm. Absolute first thing I noticed was there was no entry Host anywhere to be found. Eventually I saw them a little farther past the bar. Lots of people celebrated as I saw a crowd of people about a party 10-15 people all dressed in red holding roses so it was definitely a V day celebration. I checked in with the hosts and they told me they were cleaning out the tables for us and it will be 10 minutes . That happened twice and by 7:40 pm we weee finally seated. I understand it is Valentine's Day and chaotic and super busy . The server told us they ran out of lamb and chicken . How does that even happen? Anyways we luckily ordered the tandoori wings which were the highlight of our first dining experience here. Wings were air crispy juicy tender and lots of meat on them tasting super barbecuey . Just wish they had some more kick to them heat .Lots of food app pickups I noted too. I love their open kitchen you can see the chefs and cooks hard at work. I took several pics for food portion reference. Turns out they wore only out of lamb chops only NOT lamb kebabs though .So at the end the food shortage weren't all that bad. When you walk into a restaurant for a specific kind of cuisine, you know you're in for something great when you are the only person in the room that looks different or speaks a different language. When you walk into an Indian restaurant and not a single employee or customer is Indian, you should give it some pause. This was the case on our visit to Rasoi. As others posted the music is quite the vibe. Not sure where the club music fits in, but we got a good laugh about it. The restaurant was busy, but by no means full when we visited on a weekend night. It took 45 minutes for two curries to come out. It was only at the 40 minute mark that someone finally said, "your food will be right out." The food was hot and fresh and the portions were about average to a bit small. The assorted breads were hot and nice to get a variety. This Indian restaurant apparently charges you separately for rice and you have to order it. I have never heard of such a thing and you would think the waitstaff would be eager to upsell you on the tiny $3 plate of rice, but nope. After waiting 45 minute for our food we were not interested in waiting another however long for them to bring out a plate of rice. We ate our meal, paid, and left. Went here for a girls' night on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a reservation for six. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. The cocktails were also fantastic, making the experience even better. Our group included both vegetarians and meat-eaters, and there were plenty of options to accommodate everyone. I really enjoy the food here, even if it's pricier than a place like Zareen's. The ambiance is more formal (good for dates, birthdays, etc.), and the service is prompt and friendly. Their chicken tikka masala and tandoori items are standouts. I also like their saag and kabuli naan. And to top it off, they have an extensive cocktail list. My only gripe (which most people don't care about or even notice) is that they have picture(s) glorifying the army of Pakistan. Why?? Food is forever a 5/5 but the overall ambiance and setting makes me feel a bit uncomfortable to eat here. They bring a tray of two dips out to every table and I found bits of someone else's food in it (so it hasn't been changed out or cleaned) and there was a family in the back corner with 2-3 screamingggg children and they kept going out the back door and then back inside so right when you thought you had a break the kids came back. Nothing like dinner and "MOMMY MOMMMY" I do think if this place invested a little money on the inside of the restaurant it would have made up for it. Literally just some light music would have helped a lot but when it's slow you eat dinner in utter quiet which is a bit unsettling. Great location and interior ambience: the place is spacious, well-lit and tastefully decorated. The food variety is extensive - both meat and non-meat entrees. The service is outstanding - our waitress, Sumana, was exceptional: attentive, helpful and personable. We ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and Baingan Bhartaa with the Kabuli Naan. The Paneer Tikka Masala was delicious: good balance of spices, delicate mouth feel and flavorful without being spicy. Baingan Bharta felt a little odd / different as it seemed to have had barbecue sauce to give it roasted flavor. The Kabuli naan was excellent! Recently I made the choice to switch to a vegan lifestyle, and I've been reaching out to some of my favorite restaurants to inquire about their vegan options. This place has been my all-time favorite since I moved to the area years ago. At one point, I was borderline obsessed - dragging friends here, singing its praises, and definitely overindulging. Then, life happened. Meal preps took over, routines kicked in... until BAM! Out of nowhere, that all-too-familiar craving hit. I placed a pickup order last night, and clearly my eyes were doing their own thing because instead of my beloved Chicken Tikka Masala, I accidentally ordered plain old Chicken Tikka. I assumed they were the same... spoiler alert: they are not. When the food arrived and my chicken wasn't floating in that glorious, creamy sauce, I panicked.
