The popularity of Boba Tea has grown tremendously the past several years. Visalia has several shops and I have been to them all. Rare Tea seems to stand out and is my favorite. I have been a customer since they opened over 3 years ago. Each time I am there , the staff always greets me with a friendly welcome and a cheerful smile, I am treated like family. We recently tried RareTea and were really impressed. The shop was clean and well-kept, and the cashier was very friendly. Customer service overall was excellent. I ordered the taro smoothie with boba, and it tasted great--nice flavor and texture. One thing I appreciated is that you can ask for less sweetness, which is perfect if you don't like overly sweet drinks. My wife and I have been looking for a new boba spot since the Little Boba Shop on Mooney closed, and this place definitely fits the bill. Always on the hunt for a good boba spot and this was it! As soon as you walk in you are hit with a delicious tapioca aroma! The smoothies were fresh and had a good balance of fruit flavor and sweetness. The matcha was amazing also and boba pearls were perfect texture, not too hard and not too soft. Coming from the Bay Area where we have a lot of tea options, this is a great spot in the middle of Visalia. Their jasmine milk tea with whole milk instead of non-dairy is excellent. Not too sweet, not too bland. The shop itself is large and open, but simple. No frills, and that's ok. I've been here twice on this trip and the one thing I noticed is that it's very warm inside. I don't know if their air isn't working, or if that's just the employee preference, but I wouldn't mind if they brought the temp down a little. It didn't affect me much because I didn't sit and stay, but it would certainly discourage me from doing so. The tea is great though, so I'll keep coming. read more

Best boba shop in Visalia, definitely worth a visit! My go to is the Strawberry snowcream, but their lychee 'smootea' and Thai tea drinks are also delicious. The wait for drinks is rarely over 5 minutes, and the atmosphere in the shop lends itself to a sit-in drink experience. The tapioca pearls themselves are cooked to perfection, and are the ideal size for chewing. Other boba shops in town tend to be inconsistent with their pearls, but this shop is quite reliable. Rare tea was a must-try during our weekend getaway after some crazy hikes (at which both of my legs basically fell off my body). I ordered the Kiwi Aiyu Jelly Tea and it was just ok! The tea flavor is nice and fragrant - without being overwhelmingly strong. There is one big blob of aiyu jelly that was hard to maneuver my straw to because it kept slipping away. And unfortunately, kiwis must not be in season because they put the most unripe, crunchy, astringent-tasting kiwi I've ever had in my drink. I almost thought they accidentally put in watermelon rinds or grape peels by accident. At "less sweet", the drink was perfectly sweetened; and at "less iced", I also thought there was the perfect amount of ice. Took me a while to try this place just because it's a little out of my way but it was worth trying. The first drink I tried was their rose matcha latte, it's definitely a little different but I loved it! They have a strawberry matcha latte in case rose is not your thing. The taro is great here compared to the other boba places in Visalia. They have a brown sugar milk but I was told it doesn't have tea in it. They have milk alt for $1. I'm lactose intolerant so I don't have a choice lol Service is great! Some of the staff never fails to greet and welcome you :) they always offer a piece of candy to my son who loves the taro here. I asked what the signature milk tea was the employee said "I don't know". Usually it's the shops own milk tea creation. Hoping to find out so I can try! We we have been waiting for this place to open as it's a few minutes away from home. We went the first week it was open and they had a great turnout. There is a menu inside so you can check out what drinks you would like to get is a space inside is not bad there's plenty of seats if you want to come hang out with family or friends. Visalia is having a bubble tea renaissance and I'm so glad about it. Raretea is a fantastic establishment. I have been here multiple times, from their soft opening to multiple visits after they've officially opened. Their staff has been consistently friendly, and will answer any questions you have. The store is also very clean. You can see the employees make the drinks and their area is always clean as well. The drinks have also been consistently delicious. They allow you to adjust ice and sweetness level, though some drinks are limited to a certain sweetness. And their boba always tastes fresh and perfectly chewy. (They have both regular boba and brown sugar boba! I appreciate the options.) And if pearls aren't your thing, they have a plethora of other choices that they'd be happy to make suggestions from. The young girl that helped me at the register had bad communication skills as well as poor customer service. She didn't even ask me what sweetness level/ice amount I wanted I guess she just assumed. Even though on the menu it gives you options of ice and sweetness level. As she was making drinks and taking peoples orders she wasn't being sanitary by washing her hands.
