Under No circumstances should you hire Rapidan Plumbing unless you do not care about being way over charged and not getting the exact product you requested. Company refuses to quote a job on a Time and Material basis. The flat rate attempts to hide the fact you are being overcharged in a very big way. Want a $350.00 hot water heater installed, that's $1000.00. Same for a pressure tank for your well, $350.00 retail, $1000.00 installed. Keeping in mind that the individuals who do the work are young men who while good are not being paid journeyman plumbers making journeyman wages. The job took 90 minutes. When I confronted the owner with the facts, he simply avoided the honest answers and said his company was not the right plumber for me. Based on that answer Rapidan Plumbing is not the right plumber for anyone. There is no way that a plumber should become a multi-millionaire while pretending he performs elitist magic to do simple jobs. Avoid this company unless you don't care about your hard earned money. As for getting the wrong product, I asked for the 12 year warranty water heater. They showed up with the six year warranty model. When I called the office about that I was told that they didn't stock that one but could get it for an additional one thousand dollars!!!! RIP OFF!!!!! read more

We are on a well and our water stopped working on Sunday. I filled out the online form at http://www.rapidanplumbing.com at 6:30AM on Monday and I got a call that said somebody would be at my house by 8:30AM. We live in north Stafford near Garrisonville Road. The truck pulled in the driveway at 8:29AM. The plumber and his apprentice were very professional and nice. It only took a few minutes to diagnose the problem, that we needed to replace our pump. The parts were delivered to our house and the job was complete and they were gone by 2PM. Our well is 356 feet deep and the total job to pull and replace the pump cost a little over 4000. I believe the level of expertise was very high. He was able to answer any questions and trusted his recommendations. I would not hesitate to call them again. They take cash, checks, and credit cards. They are first-rate. read more

While trying to impress my wife with a new kitchen sink I managed to break my drain pipe near the base so it needed all the pvc replaced. I called for a appointment Saturday afternoon requesting for Monday service. The tech, Shawn Howard arrived right on schedule. He diagnosed the situation, explained my options and then attacked the issue right away. He was mindful of my families needs as well professional in how he handled the task at hand. He managed to rebuild my pipes in a more efficient way than was done prior and even gave some great advice on my system. He was knowledgeable, personable, and efficient Caleb diagnosed the situation made suggestions and started the replacement and repair after giving me a thorough presentation of what was to be done. His workmanship was meticulous. His attention to detail was greatly appreciated by both my wife and myself. Caleb was most courteous and pleasant to work with. One thing I will give Rapidan is they always answer the phone and they did respond quickly to my problem. I am on a well and my pump died after +18 years. They came and replaced the pump. I had them also replace the plastic pipe and wire since it was old also. My complaint was that the cost was $5,600 to pull and replace a pump in a 300 foot well. I called Rapidan because they had the biggest ad in the yellow pages. Looking at the cost of the materials, I realized I had made a huge mistake and I contacted two other well/plumbers in my area and got quotes of $2,400 and $2,700 for the same job. New pump/wire/pipe for a 300 foot well. Boy did I get snookered. Save yourself some bucks and call around for estimates before committing to these guys. read more

Our septic system light went on. We called American Home Shield and they sent out a plumber who knew nothing, then they dispatched an emergency plumber that did not show until 5pm the next day, they could do nothing. Finally we got smart and called Rapidan Plumbing's emergency line. They came out within 1 hour and fixed the problem immediately. They stayed for almost two hours, checking the system and making sure that the problem they fixed was the only problem, they even called AHS and made sure the emergency expenses were covered. This was all dealt with by the owners of our rental property, who lived out of state. I will be calling Rapidan in the future for our home that we are currently buying. Is Rapidan Plumbing more expensive than other plumbers? Perhaps. But the quality of their work is well worth it. I have used them on a few occasions, most recently for a major underground water supply leak and line replacement. The plumber, Caleb, was prompt, extremely courteous, and professional. Our problem became his, and he seemed to have a genuine interest in getting water service back to our home. He and his partner worked diligently for 2-1/2 days, finding the problem, getting permits, excavating our front yard, running a new line from the meter into our house, back-filling, and re-seeding our yard. Had a slow running stool that had been snaked in April 2015 finally gave in and called Rapidan Plumbing. Called before 9:00am and a couple of hours later Shawn and Chad F. were here. I told them the problem and that I wanted a video to see if there was a problem in the pipes, Everything was fine and they said the stool was not flushing properly, installed a new stool and it worked great. They left the bathroom clean, they were knowledgeable and professional. The bill was reasonable. The other company had water all over the floor and was expensive. Charged $2000.00 to install a pressure tank and hot water heater. Retail on each of those items was $350.00. So, labor and a small amount of extra material totaled $1300.00. The job took two young men (not journeymen) less than two hours. Yes the work was completed well but this isn't rocket science. The price was a rip off.
