Moving to NYC from far away is tough, especially when you don't have time or budget to actually come *see* apartments. Leah was super helpful and very accommodating. She lives and dies by text message and email, just like I do -- that was fantastic. She was patient with a newbie who only barely knew the new york apartment game and she worked hard to find a place we'd love in the neighborhoods we'd researched. A few minor communication problems about lease start dates and what we were and were not willing to provide for documentation aside, Christine was great to work with as well. All told, we went from "Hi" to "enjoy your new apartment" in just under 2 weeks, and in perfect timing for our crazy relocation and work schedules. When problems were pointed out or questions needed answering, both Christine and Leah were always available to keep our apartment hunt on the rails. (not anywhere) but especially not in nyc! location, budget, convenience of transportation, space in apartment..are all factors that are crucial to think about when looking. Chris Coyle was there to help! She not only was patient with my personal situation of waiting until pop's see's the place before i go any further, but took the time to also be as accommodating as she can with my crazy work schedule. Paper work was hassle free and right to the point. She showed me the place twice and got the super to make sure minor things were fixed.. I had a great experience with this company and Chris made it super easy to find my very first own place! :) With Rapid realty, I feel they try their best to find YOUR spot. whatever you are looking for, they can guide you the right way. My friend and I moved to New York a little over a week ago and completed the process in essentially 3 days from decision to signing (excusing the weekend.) This entire process is dependent upon your agents, you'll have at least two if you find an apartment through Rapid. One to show you apartments and one to handle paperwork and leasing. Robert Scott is the person to talk to in this office. We contacted him about a listing all the way out in Bed/Stuy and rather than redirecting us he came out to show us that property and 3 others like it. What made him a great showing agent was that he listened to what we were looking for in an apartment and actually thought about it. Everything he showed us was within our stated price range and he never pushed. All the way through move-in Robert was available via phone and text and was privy to the exact status of our apartment, keys, and paperwork. We ended up in Harlem by the way, and Robert made the effort to show us what was available and fitting for us rather than just redirect us to someone else at the local office. So in all, just find this guy at the Flatbush office and you'll be pretty well set with Rapid Realty. Christine Coley, (Last name spelling may be incorrect) was our closing agent and the reason my review loses one star. I understand that we were not high ticket renters but Christine was less than communicative with us or the management company for our apartment. We received little contact information and received calls at 10:30pm about our closing. We're young but it is less than professional to be calling that late. She was not privy to the details of our lease and explained things in very broad terms and made claims on behalf of the management company that were not true. (In regards to if we could move in while some paperwork was in transit.) I know she'll read this and that's fine, simply Christine needs to step up her game and be on point professionally before someone better replaces her. In the end we did manage to move into an apartment in New York at a hurried place and are satisfied with the services from Rapid Realty. I understand how issues arise with them but you'll be safe with the right showing agent. read more

My roommate and I found our apartment on the site Naked Apartments; the realtor, David, who works for Rapid Realty, had great reviews. David was good; he answered all of our questions right away. We were able to see the apartment that day. To "hold" the apartment, we were asked to put down $500. This doesn't really hold anything, though, guys, because the landlord (a separate entity) still has to approve your application. We sent in our applications and all of the other paperwork you need to get an apartment in New York City (no small thing, if you've never done this before.) Once our paperwork was in, we were switched from David to Christine, which we weren't expecting. We thought David would be our guy from start to finish, but apparently this place always has two people - one to start a deal and one to close it. The landlords approved us, and we had to wire Rapid Realty first month's, last month's, and security deposit the same day we signed the lease. They were very high-pressure with this. In fact, they were high-pressure in general. The apartment was listed as a no-fee apartment, meaning the landlords were paying the broker fee. So, when we submitted three months' worth of rent money, Rapid Realty took one month for themselves and sent the rest to the landlord. When we moved in, our landlords said they didn't know that Rapid Realty would be keeping our last month of rent; they thought that we had paid a broker's fee, not that it was rent money, so the landlords were surprised to learn that they were getting 11 months of rent from us instead of 12. The landlords also said Christine took several days to give them our application information, and they were thinking about scrapping the deal altogether. The landlords didn't end up scrapping it; we're in our apartment now, but read your lease thoroughly. If your landlord scraps your deal, you are supposed to get all your money back from your landlord, not Rapid Realty. Once you sign a lease, Rapid Realty doesn't have to have anything to do with you. I will also say that we're living in Bed-Stuy in a sketchy spot. The people at Rapid Realty told us it was fine to walk around here late at night alone, that they would let their family members do it. Since we hadn't lived here before, we took them at their word on this. Now that we're here, we don't feel safe at all. In fact, everyone who actually lives here tells us that we should never walk alone at night by ourselves. It is true that we could've done more research on the area before we signed a lease, but Rapid Realty saying we could walk alone here at night was definitely false. They definitely just care about getting money from you. read more

Really a shame that I am forced to give this place even one star. Terrible customer service! Half of their phone lines don't even work and I would have to call several different numbers just to get someone to track down the agent that took my deposit since the agent was completely ignoring me. Applied for an apartment and the decision was dragged out for over a week so by the time we heard NO, and we had to start looking again, all of the decent apartments were already rented! They also told me the next day that the landlord changed her mind and we COULD move in, but we'd have to pay the broker fee. When we said no, because it wasn't part of the original agreement, and waited to hear her response - there was no response! The listing simply went up again without the agent calling me back to tell me the final answer! Then the next agent I got would only show me apartments that carried broker fees - after I told him I would only pay a fee if the place was absolutely perfect. When I was supposed to meet him for a viewing, I asked for the address so I could look it up on the bed bug registry and he gave me the wrong address - obviously on purpose. He changed the last number of the address, I bet he thought it would be right next door to the real apartment but it was actually several blocks away so I knew he gave me the wrong one on purpose. Total waste of time. They are unprofessional teenagers and each one gives you different answers to your questions as if they make it up as they go along. Just lie through their teeth to get you to put your money down. And they always seem so nice and friendly at first! So manipulative. read more

These people are pushy and lie to you every step of the way. Especially avoid the broker Kenyatta--he is truly a nightmare. He called me multiple times at 9:30 at night to check about when I would pay the deposit. Run far far away from this business. FInd a better reality agency. read more

My friend and I were moving to Brooklyn after graduate school and I responded to a rapid realty apartment listing. The listing agent Sawandi immediately answered his phone when I called and set up a time to show us around to a few places. I have to admit, at first I didn't like any of the apartments we were seeing but after a few places, Sawandi understood what we were looking for and found two great places he showed us. He was persistent in his search and the place we are currently living in is a place he found. He did everything he said he would do and I am sure you cant do better than him in an agent. The only real problem we had was the broker (separate from the agent for those of you who don't know). She was a little un professional and some miscommunications after sawandi had to turn us over to her were a pain in the ass. In the end though, it was worth it because our agent was so dedicated and upfront with everything he did and showed us. He is from brooklyn and is extremely knowledgeable of the neighborhoods and is more than willing to stick with you until he finds you a place you both like. read more

I have lived in NY for 8 years and this was the most pleasant experience I have ever had! My review is based on my experience with one in particular agent, Kim Hill. My sister and I worked with her and and she was just fantastic! She wasn't pushy and impersonal like 90% of other agents are. She really listened to what we were looking for and didn't waste our time with false advertising. She never pressured us to go for something that wasn't right for us, which always seems to be the problem I run into. It was a very personal experience and it felt as though we really got to know each other so she could show us places that were really right for us. My sister was just moving here from Cali so understanding the housing market here was quite a different experience for her, but Kim was very patient, informative and understand. The staff I worked with (Jovan Smith and his supervisor Deidron Clouden) were refreshingly not jaded real estate brokers but rather young professionals who took my calls and emails quickly. Worst place every. I went to look at one place with David and he showed another. I liked the second place, put a deposit down to take the apartment off the market. A couple of days go by and I was told by Carlene ( who is the closing broker). They had applicants with better credit that they were thinking of giving the apartment to and could not get me an appointment with the landlord. I requested my refund since they were not holding their end of agreement. I go to the office to pick up the check and miraculously they were able to get me an appointment to meet the landlord the next day. the next day comes and i get a text (not a phone call) that the meeting has been cancelled for the next day. The next day comes the same thing. I go to the office and no one is there. I call and text all phone numbers and no one responds, This is all in a weeks time. the following Monday my roommate(aka mom) goes to get the money she left and they tell her the meeting is that night at 6:30 pm. We show up and Carlene and her team are no shows. The landlord couldn't wait anymore and we speak with them and everything is a go. Next day Carlene calls and ask when can she set up the appointment. i told her we met and etc etc. She becomes rude and unprofessional( as if she was ever professional) and said come get your check we explained the landlord offered the apartment so no need for refund she states the deal is off the table and he was not giving us the apartment. two hours later the landlord calls for us to sign the lease. My mother signed and I was to sign the next day because of conflicting schedule times. No other word from Carlene. We sign the lease go to get the keys from the holding agent which is not part of rapid but century 21 realty, and now we are told that we can not have the keys because Carlene said not to give us keys because we didn't pay her. Contact Landlord he said he is not in this mess and the key holder is right once Carlene has her commission he will make sure we get our keys. We didn't have a problem given Carlene her commission but she torn the agreement up and gave us back our money. She is wrong. Do not do business with them. Rapid Realty should be called Ripoff Realty. Horrible experience will never us them again. Mind you the broker fee is 1600 and she is trying to get 2800. read more

I had a good experience with Vince Colas at Rapid Realty Flatbush. He was patient and took me around to see a couple of apartments. I didn't like the apartment so I didn't end up renting one. However, I do think he did a good job in following up and was positive and professional. read more
