What another great Winery. Once you enter though, I was not a fan of the hostess. Once you entered she did not have a welcoming or friendly persona. When you enter the actual winery itself, there is a small shopping boutique with very very cute gifts or cachkeys. Aside from that, our waiter was very enthusiastic and made the afternoon for us. We were there on a Sunday to celebrate a Bachelorette. Inside is nice a cool, which is needed on a hot summer day. There was live entertainment and what a great pianist / voice the man had. There is one bar in one back corner and another main bar where you can sit / stand and enjoy a flight or individual glasses of wine. You can call ahead to reserve for a large group. You have the choice for indoor or outdoor seating, although not sure I would want to sit outside in the heat. But there are many opportunities for great photo ops. There is a balcony you can walk up and also take great photos of the winery. Inside of the winery there is a private cellar tour you can take but I believe that it is $65 ? You would have to call to verify that price. The wine and food are a little bit more pricier I have found compared to the other wineries but the food is well worth it. We had paid for the meat and cheese boards with a flight of wine- much needed. The presentation was lovely. The presentation of the wine, a little rushed and could barely hear but again our waiter in either case was still very attentive and very friendly. BEWARE!! IF YOU ARE A BLACK CUSTOMER, YOU MAY EXPERIENCE POOR TREATMENT!! This past weekend, my boyfriend planned a phenomenal vineyard trip for me and a few of my closest friends to celebrate my birthday. Throughout the day, we visited several amazing vineyards and unfortunately, the treatment we received at Raphael's was not only disheartening but also ruined our entire experience. By far the absolute worst feeling I've had as a regular to the vineyards in Southold. For background, as a party of 10, my boyfriend confirmed one reservation for six guests (due to COVID policies) and was made aware that the remaining four guests would be seated on a first come first serve basis and may have to wait (as outlined in a reply email from Raphael's). Upon our arrival, the entire experience was ruined in a matter of 3 minutes because of the rush to judgment and abrupt dismissal of half our party, despite being told that walking in the day of was not against policy. We were greeted by the hostess - who confirmed that the policy mandated six, which my boyfriend agreed with; and he proceeded to state that we had two separate table reservations, one for a party of six (6) and the other for a party of four (4). The hostess then proceeded to state that she does not have a reservation for the table of 4. My boyfriend then proceeded to ask if there was a possibility to accommodate parties of two (at separate tables) so that we could all enjoy the establishment despite the possibility of not being able to sit in the same seating area. She then stated in a tone that displayed as if she was perturbed that he even bothered to ask such a request, "No, I have other reservations and people waiting - I'm not even sure if I will be able to sit the party of 4." At this point, the men in the group elected that the women in the group go ahead and enjoy the reservation and that they would wait outside of the establishment for the possibility to be accommodated at the next "available" table, as suggested by the email. As we were working out the details with the hostess, we were rudely interrupted by the special events coordinator, Julie Vergardi, who marched over after being at the bar moving cases of wine (never having been apart of the initial conversation and far enough distance that should could not have possibly heard the ensuing conversation) visibly upset and appearing to come to the "aid" of the hostess to ask, "What is the problem?" The hostess proceeded to state that my boyfriend said he had an additional party for 4, which Julie's response was then "Well I don't have a party under that reservation and I cannot sit a party of 10". My boyfriend responded "okay" and continued to talk to the hostess, for which Julie unnecessarily took it upon herself as if to reprimand the group by saying, "I could end this whole thing right now and not sit you at all." We were there to celebrate my birthday and this ruined our entire experience, as the hostess could not get Julie to calm down. The hostess stated that she herself (not Julie) is the one that helps the reservations. Even as I tried to have a conversation with Julie, she was extremely irritable and ended our conversation abruptly by uttering her frustrations and heightened emotions that the restaurant is having a hard time dealing with customers due to COVID-19. Ultimately, making an excuse to try and justify her demeanor, tone, and actions towards our party, who was not trying to be accommodated for as a whole party of 10 but two separate tables as we were made aware of the restaurant's guidelines when making the reservations. Not only was this extremely unprofessional as her being an individual who works in the hospitality industry meaning she should be able to work under such "conditions" but also due to the reasoning that the establishment has been reopened for outside seating since July 9th. My boyfriend and the rest of the men left the reception area as the ladies were reluctantly shown to a table. Our group was still very upset and extremely embarrassed that Julie tried to exercise her power as special events coordinator by threatening to dismiss our entire party. Our group decided to leave rather than to dine at an establishment that would treat paying customers so poorly. Upon leaving, Julie continued to antagonize us by sarcastically yelling "happy birthday!" to me, I was shocked that she would do that in an attempt to further embarrass our group. After spending months in quarantine and finally getting a chance to enjoy the vineyards, we were terribly disappointed to find that people still hadn't changed. Julie displayed poor judgment skills, an abuse of power to black women and even further, an egregious level of mistreatment to customers. We didn't even receive a follow up email to rectify the issue! Her actions and the inaction of the Raphael staff lead me to believe that the entire Raphael staff condones this type of behavior towards customers. read more

I attended a wedding here and they do a wonderful job. The grounds are beautiful and made for a magnificent backdrop for the ceremony. The cocktail hour was held in what is normally the tasting room. The ceiling was adorned with lots of twinkly lights that made the room look so beautiful. Food stations were laid out across the whole room and included duck breast with sweet potato mash, antipasto platters with meats, cheeses, olives, etc; a pasta station and an ahi tuna station. There were also many passed hor d'oeuvres and they were all fantastic; they included arancini, oyster shots, lamb chops, cheese puffs, bacon wrapped scallops, mini lobster rolls and mini reubens. Another plus was that the trays were constantly passed around, there was no waiting on something or the feeling that you missed something and never saw it again. The staff was really on top of making sure everyone was served. All the food was delicious. The wedding flow was different than others I have experienced. After cocktail hour we moved into the dining room which had some lovely views of the vineyard. Dinner was dinner, there was no dancing in between courses; the dancing portion of the reception started after dinner. Dinner started off with a salad with fruit and nuts in a light creamy dressing, it was great. Entrees included an option of steak, chicken or snapper. The snapper was well cooked served with a coarse polenta and broccoli rabe. The filet mignon was seasoned well and served with creamy mashed potatoes and spinach. The meal was delicious, the only flaws were the polenta being too buttery and the spinach too garlicky. All in all it was very enjoyable. Even the rolls in the bread basket were excellent. The staff was on top of ensuring that everyone had wine and glasses were refilled. Speaking of the wine, I most enjoyed the chardonnay which was light and not oak-y. The Cabernet franc had a decent amount of oak, but was also fruity. Once dinner was complete, we moved back into the main room. The band had set-up and the cocktail tables had been moved to the perimeter to make room for a dance floor. Dessert was set-up just like the cocktail hour with different stations in the room. There was such a wide variety of items to choose form; along with the wedding cake there was everything from ice cream sundaes, to cake pops, to warm cinnamon rolls. There were even soft pretzels and sliders being passed around at the end of the night. Raphael offered a lovely setting with some great food that made for a fantastic wedding; the staff, even down to the valet attendants, were so friendly and helpful. read more

One of my favorite vineyards out on Long Island. The architecture of the building brings you back to Tuscany, and the ample inside seating is great for hot summer days. The wine is definitely some of the better wine offered from any of the Long Island vineyards. We really enjoyed the Cabernet franc. They have a good selection of Tapas at reasonable prices. The Brie cheese is always good. I wish there goat cheese was a bit bigger (it's my favorite). And the flatbreads are ok but nothing special- wish they were a bit bigger and a bit crispier for the price. read more

One of the best and most scenic wineries in Long Island. This was the last stop on a winery tour I went on a few weeks ago for a friends birthday. We used North Fork Tours and we visited two wineries and the Long Island Vodka distillery. This was the most beautiful one. Pindar winery is my favorite in terms of vibe, environment and atmosphere. Raphael is a bit more laid back. We were a group of 15 and they accommodated us nicely. The wines we tried were all great. My only complaint was that the bread was very stale that they served us for the tasting, which I thought was weird considering the place is seemingly upscale. Anyhow, after the tasting we walked down through the vineyard which was a long but scenic walk. Great photo ops! Raphael is a very popular wedding venue. Although I'm most likely having a destination wedding we inquired about wedding packages a few days later. Out of all the wineries we've requested information on, this one was the most expensive in terms of venue fee. It didn't surprise me since it is quite beautiful. Great place and I'd definitely return for another wine tasting trip. read more

In the adventure to try some new wineries, we decided to check out Raphael's, a fairly new Mediterranean-styled winery that was established in 1996. Pulling into the driveway, you feel like you're driving into some private estate with the gravel road, water fountain, and European/Mediterranean style villa. Inside, is quite grand, with a circular bar area, where the wine tasting is served. Just beyond that are ~10 tables to sit at. There is also available seating outside, as well as an upper deck to get a nice view of the vineyard. The main room in addition to the new Renaissance Room seems like a very welcoming place to hold private events accommodating around 200 guests. As for Raphael's tasting menu, there are different flights available, or individual sampling/flights. Flights vary from $6.00 - $9.00 with the majority giving you the opportunity to try 3 wines. You can mix and match the different wines (priced at $2-$5 individually) as well. I tried the 2008 Chardonnay which was fermented and aged in stainless steel; and the 2006 Cabernet France which is a balance of berries, earthy aromas and flavors. Though I am no connoisseur of wine tasting, I have had my fair share of different tastings, and both of these did not seem to agree with my palate too much. Rather than try their signature Merlot that they are known for, I decided to opt out and venture to other wineries. It seemed like every time we decided to go wine tasting, Raphael was always closed. This year, we went on a Monday and found Raphael open to public tastings! I was more interested in the grounds and decor than the wines themselves. Tastings here are a bit expensive, average about $3 per 1 taste. I tried only their riesling. I think their wines have a few more years to catch up to Macari. After finishing my wine I went to take pictures. I think this place is perfect for a wedding. I love the chandeliers and winding staircase. The patio at the back is breezy, however acoustically, not great. read more

Came here as part of my friend's bridal shower, super beautiful inside and outside. We didn't get an explanation for the wine making process or the grounds before or during our tasting, so it was kind of a fend for yourself type deal. The server gave very casual and strange explanations for the wines we tried, and actually spilt some red wine on my friend's dress. Not sure if he noticed it and it was just a bit but still the pouring wasn't as professional as it could have been. It was nice that they had a bread, cheese, & olive plate with the wine we tasted! It's soooo pretty here! I drive past this winery every time we go out east but unfortunately have never been able to go in because I always miss them when they're open. Luckily, a few weekends ago I finally was able to get in! The inside is so beautiful and so elegantly set up! The wines were also very good! I did the premium red tasting and was not disappointed! Although the weather wasn't too nice out, I was able to go outside for a look and it looks like it would be really nice to be able to sit outside on a nice sunny day! The view of the wineries from the deck was really beautiful and I'm sure is even better on a nice sunny day! This is the most beautiful winery in Long Island, in my opinion. Located on the north fork, they have their own vineyard on site and the most fabulous wines. My favorites are the estate merlot and the Sauvignon Blanc. We had a private event here one weekday last fall where we got a tour and had a fabulous lunch. The owners have a caterer on site and this location is perfect for any special event. Many times they are closed on weekends for private functions but if they are not, you must stop in while doing the winery tours. read more

The wines were sub par, the food was laughable (everything was packaged- like it came from the grocery store, nothing fresh, and it was expensive!), you can't do tasting flights outside, and service was bad. We ordered a bottle of white wine for our group of 6 at 4:25 and the waitress said um it was last call. We said when? You close at 5, we have plenty of time to each have a small glass of wine and you never said last call. She got it for us begrudgingly. We drank it and left by 5. This place is beautiful. Reminds me of the larger Napa wineries. We headed in and because they didn't have a set price of x amount of tasters for x amount, we all tried tastings of single wines. I had a tasting ($3) of the 2009 Riesling which wasn't too sweet and slightly dry. It was okay, nothing I was too thrilled about. As my friends tried some other wines, I headed outside the the covered patio and walked onto the grounds. From the entrance Raphael looks big but when you go to the back, the places looks bigger! There are rows and rows of grapes and lots of green grass. After walking around, I joined the rest of my party who had made their way to a table on the deck. It was beautiful. On the premise is a small store to purchase cheese and hard salami's to compliment your wine tastings but only on the grounds and not indoor. In addition to the existing two tier terraces, a gazebo was added this year with lounged seating and tables. Note: They host weekend tours and reservations are recommended. They're generally closed on weekends during the summer months so if you want to sample any of their wines, its advisable to make a weekday trek to the North Fork. read more

I Finally took the time to do a wine tour this place was our first stop. Tour group arrived & they had tables set up inside all ready to go with cheese & bread plates these were supposed to be paired with the wines but we were all hungry & just dug in haha no biggie little sometime before the wine hits u on an empty stomach. First up was a Pinot Gricio nice wine light then it was a Rosé good as well this was followed by an Estate Merlot good too & finally a red called La Fontana I am not a big reds fan but this was very good actually the best red we tried during the entire tour strong taste & smell. While we tried the wine we learned a little bit of history for the place family owned & operated till this day all wines are prepared on site pretty cool. Once we were done we headed out to explore we took a walk outside wow simply beautiful the grounds are very nicely kept. Tables set up with service should u choose to keep drinking not a bad way to spend a few hours. My favorite vineyard! Beautiful inside and out. I love the tasting room- it's beautiful with beamed ceilings. They have live music on the weekends that is so nice to enjoy with friends and family. Their food options are fantastic. Lots of tasty cheese and meat options. They also offer flatbread pizzas and grilled cheese. Mmmm! You can sit outside and look over the vines from the patio or go upstairs for a different view. The service is also wonderful! The staff is very knowledgeable on the different wines. My cousins and I decided to try Raphael winery as we were so thrilled to be out in wine country. My cousin had called ahead to make a reservation for a party of 10 and was told that unfortunately due to COVID they would only be able to seat a party of 6. To ensure we were compliant with their policy we decided to book two separate reservations. We understood that there may be the possibility that we would not be seated together but didn't mind. We showed up to the winery checked in for our reservation and the hostess proceeded to seat our first party. Then our party of 4 was signaled that they were ready to seat us as well. As we proceeded outside we realized that it was pretty dead. There were about 6 tables empty so we figured oh perfect we can grab a table next to our party of 6. We asked who we presumed to be the hostess if we could move tables. (she was proceeding to seat us on the other side of our party) Her response was that we were being very disrespectful to her for even having such a request. She then started to belittle and scold us regarding the policy surrounding seating and literally stated that if she saw any one from our table moving over to the other table she would kick us out... we were completely disgusted with her behavior and decided to leave even though our other party was still tasting. As we were walking out a nice woman proceeded to ask why we were leaving and we informed her that we had been mistreated. We finally asked to speak with a manager and it ended up being the same woman Julie who had sat us. It is unfortunate that this winery is beautiful but her attitude spoils the ambiance. We will never return and will definitely warn family and friends. read more
