The Hillcrest neighborhood has a new boba tea shop adjacent to a nail lounge on University Ave. I think they have the same owners, but I didn't confirm that during my visit. Rapha Tea is a chain boba franchise, but I didn't notice many locations based on my internet search results. It just debuted earlier this month without the fanfare that normally accompanies the soft opening of such a business. I parked in a plaza lot to the east of the set of suites where this shop was located and walked over. A self-service kiosk was located to the left as you entered. A diagram on the wall to the right depicted the processes followed to make a cup of boba tea. Only three tables were available for seating so this place was definitely suited for takeout orders. Menu screens hung above the service counter. The left one displayed pictures of the top ten drinks. The right panel listed the offerings including seven House Specials in the middle for $7.50 each. I chose the first listed House Special which was the namesake Rapha Signature. The contents were a house made black sugar sauce and black boba pearls with non-dairy milk and a sea cream topping. It was essentially a brown sugar milk tea, however the quality of the boba pearls was not good. They were much denser and not as soft as other places. The sweetness was also on the high side while the tea flavor was minimal. For the price and quality of my drink, I gave a three star rating for my experience at Rapha Tea.

I just had the passionfruit chamoy drink here (super excited because I've only seen mangonada before and I love passionfruit), and I requested for there to be no added sweetness besides whatever needed to be put in the drink for flavor. I also asked for a little light chamoy so that it's not too salty, and the employee was able to take my customizations and made me a perfect drink! She was so nice and considerate! I would definitely be back to try other drinks and the passionada again. I hope their other drinks are just as good.

If you are new here and don't know what to order. Get the Rapha Halo Halo Slush!!!! #1!!! Best Boba I ever had in San Diego. It has a lot of stuff inside. Pudding, boba on the bottom, Ube, coconut jelly, strawberry jelly, lychee jelly and beans. Park by Trader Joe's and Ralph's. I will be coming back to get the same exact drink no other. It's connected to a nail salon if you want to get your nails done before or after. Cool place for sure.

Came here specifically for the Halo- Halo drink and it didn't disappoint. Every flavor of Halo-Halo in a drink form. Every sip is a different flavor. I absolutely loved this. We also tried the Blue Hawaiian which looked appealing and tasted just like a Pina colada. Very nice as well.Parking is street parking unless you walk a little further and park at the Ralphs/Trader Joes parking lot.

MATCHA UBE with MANGO STAR JELLY

Rapha Tea offers a delightful treat. I got the MATCHA UBE with MANGO STAR JELLY. The beverage is definitely sweet, creamy, and delicious. The ambiance is pretty sleek and bright with limited seating. Staff is friendly and orders come out quick. I'll have to visit again to try a new beverage. Perhaps a coffee this time.

Woohoo first review! Rejoice for a new boba shop that has finally graced the hillcrest/north park area. We were seriously lacking! I went to Rapha tea during the Soft opening and it was a very clean restaurant. Attached to a nail salon, this place will do very well with the crowds that will want a drink while they get their nails done. I opted for the matcha tiger tea with boba. The matcha drink was pretty milky and muted, and I would've liked maybe double or triple matcha flavor. The boba however was perfectly cooked and had a really nice floral taste to it. Id definitely try this place again and maybe try a different type of drink.

YOGART @ NORTH PARK SAN DIEGO…read more Parking here is all street parking, so it can definitely be a little difficult to find a spot, especially during busier hours in North Park. Luckily, after driving around for a few minutes, I was able to find free parking not too far away, so it ended up working out pretty well. I stopped by here with a friend because we were craving something sweet after dinner, and honestly this place was such a cute little find. The lady working was incredibly sweet and welcoming from the moment we walked in, which made the experience even better. They had a really good variety of yogurt flavors and toppings to choose from, and everything looked fresh and well stocked. I ended up trying a couple different flavors with fruit and candy toppings, and everything tasted super yummy. The yogurt itself was really creamy and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I liked a lot. The shop was clean, organized, and had a really relaxed atmosphere overall. Even though it was fairly busy when we came in, it still felt comfortable and the service stayed friendly the whole time. Between the tasty flavors, huge topping selection, and kind service, I'd definitely come back whenever I'm in the area craving frozen yogurt again.

Parking can be tricky especially since it's in the heart of North Park. Establishment is clean and very zen. It is self serve so u can get as much as u want. They do offer sample cups! Altough there isn't a wide variety of flavors offered they make sure to have flavors that are creamy, tarty, or fruity to satisfy everyones cravings. Their fixins bars are loaded with fruit and candy aswell allowing one to customize as they please. If you want a drink there are plenty of options to choose from. Oh yeah, Indoor seating is available as well!

I love…read moresupporting small businesses and really wanted to like this place so I can return and send others, BUT too many issues... 1) Employees aren't familiar nor clear with ingredients, which is problematic for a diabetic 2) Basic jasmine milk tea was just shy of $10 for a large, marketed as 32oz but was quite a bit short. See pic of my 32oz Hydro Flask (she did top it off after explaining that she knew the cups weren't a full 32 ounces -of course I had to question the size first). When I asked about it, the owner seemed to know that their cups are smaller than the advertised amount but because, according to her, that's how it was marketed to them by the supplier, they didn't change it. Again, this is problematic to me. If you know the supplier is short changing you, and my guess is because you went with the cheapest cup (which may also mean inferior plastic for unwitting consumers), why in the world wouldn't you remeasure and advertise it correctly??!!! You've lost my trust in exchange for a quick buck. I'd prefer honesty. 3) Worst offense... within 30 minutes of drinking, I started feeling unwell and getting bloated. Clearly indicates to me that they either didn't disclose some mysterious ingredient or there was a problem with their sanitation somewhere -unfortunately I didn't watch her make it. Prior to this happening and me now stuck on the couch in pain, I was going to give them an extra star for quick service. It's a little shop in a small strip mall, clean enough in the table areas but unsure about the back. I didn't check reviews before walking in because somebody nearby had recommended it to me -a stranger, and I figured how bad can a boba shop be, obviously MY mistake. Gotta check YELP before I go anywhere. Had I read previous reviews, especially the one star recently about using chemicals in the same sink they make drinks from with TAP water, I would have never entered. On top of this, the taste was one of the worst milk teas I've ever had. Tasted like milk powder than real milk. AVOID!!

There's also a Limited Series, a coffee series, plus all the classic milk teas, fruit teas, and milk based drinks. You still have all the usual customization options for sugar, ice, and toppings. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Parking was another pleasant surprise. I originally drove past thinking I'd have to search for street parking, but they actually have a shared lot. It made stopping in a lot easier than I expected. I ordered the On Cloud 9, which is a jasmine green milk tea with cheese foam and brown sugar boba. The drink itself was enjoyable. The jasmine wasn't overpowering, which let the cheese foam stand out without completely taking over the drink. I also liked that the sweetness of the brown sugar boba balanced the slight saltiness from the foam. Flavor-wise, I'd say it held its own against other boba shops in San Diego. The only thing that held it back was the boba. It had almost no chew left. Instead of adding texture, it kind of disappeared after one bite because it was so soft. Boba is one of those toppings that can completely change a drink. Even with that, I'd still come back. The menu has way too many interesting drinks to judge the shop off one order. If the boba had been fresher, this easily could've been one of those drinks I'd order again. I think next time I'd branch out and try something from their Limited Series instead.

From the very beginning, I was blown away by the level of care and attention I received. The owner, Le, personally answered my call and guided me through the menu with a level of detail and warmth that immediately put me at ease. I have specific safety needs and allergies, and she handled everything with such grace and professionalism. She was clear, direct, and supported me through every action of the process without ever overwhelming me. What I deeply appreciated out most was how naturally she accommodated my needs. There wasn't a moment where I felt like an inconvenience. Instead, I felt genuinely cared for. Le's passion for her craft is unmistakable. She shared how she has studied flavors extensively, traveling to Vietnam and Taiwan to deepen her understanding of traditional techniques and flavor profiles. That dedication shines through in every sip. She explained how she carefully develops her own recipes, blending cultural influences with precision and creativity. Even the boba itself is made fresh every morning, which makes a huge difference. I can taste the quality, texture, and freshness immediately. I started with the taro milk tea (with almond milk due to my allergies), and it was absolutely phenomenal. The drink was luxuriously creamy with a silky, smooth texture that coated the palate in the most satisfying way. The taro flavor was rich and earthy with a subtle nuttiness, balanced by a gentle sweetness that never became overpowering. Just when it seemed like it might lean too sweet, the creaminess would round everything out perfectly, creating a beautifully harmonious flavor profile. Adding the boba elevated the experience even more. The pearls were soft yet chewy, with just the right amount of bounce, and carried a delicate sweetness that complemented the drink rather than competing with it. It was, without question, the best taro milk tea I've ever had. Next, I tried the "Over the Rainbow," and it was just as impressive in a completely different way. This drink was bright, vibrant, and incredibly refreshing. The tartness of the lemonade provided a crisp, zesty backbone, while the popping boba added bursts of sweetness that danced across the tongue. Each sip was layered and dynamic, cool, tangy, sweet, and slightly effervescent in feeling. Visually, it was stunning as well, with beautiful, shifting colors that made the experience feel almost magical. It was as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the taste buds. Both drinks were so good that I drank them down almost immediately! I didn't even think to take a photo! I even found myself savoring the melted ice afterward just to enjoy every last trace of flavor, which shares a lot about the quality and balance of the drinks. To top it all off, Analise, who helped me at checkout, was equally kind and accommodating. She continued the same level of care and attentiveness, making sure my safety needs were respected and that I felt comfortable throughout the entire experience. Boba Monkey has truly set a new standard for me. Between the exceptional quality of the drinks, the depth of flavor, the cultural authenticity, and the genuine kindness of the staff, this place is in a league of its own. If I could give them a billion stars, I absolutely would. Best drinks, best boba, and one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had.

Compared to the name of the spot, the interior felt like it belonged to a night time sushi spot. I'm not sure if they are allowed to repaint the interior, but changing the black/dark blue walls to something more bright would open up the space a little more-- it is a small place, but felt even smaller with the design choice. The menu was organized, but it seems like they were out of a few items in the morning as they didn't have mini pearls--only regular. And for some reason, you couldn't change the sweetness level on the drink...or maybe it just related to the drink I chose? Not sure, it was my first time there. The worker was nice & patient. Although for not having many people in the shop, I hope they could take the time to perfect their boba. It was VERY clumpy and not good-- texturally and taste wise. It didn't have that rich brown sugar taste and it was very gooey and chewy (not in a good way). They did give a good amount of boba, but I feel most people would toss it out because of the bad quality. Which would be a waste of money. To drink, I chose the Hokkaido Milk Tea with Pearls. I wanted to do 50 or 75% sweet but I guess since this is a caramel noted milk tea, it isn't possible. I think the tea was ok. I would order something else next time. My friend had the Okinawa Milk Tea with Pearls, I'm unsure if they asked for a certain sweetness level or not. They said the tea was good, but the pearls weren't good. Something to note, I charged the drinks on my card and rather than saying Sayaka Tea, it said Sharetea...interesting. I wonder if they rebranded themselves or ?? Each drinks were around ~$7-8 ish! I'll give them another try, I hope the boba will be better the next time around and I'll be allowed to change the sweetness. If not, I'll be heading a little further down the street as this tea spot may not be for me!
