I had such a great experience at this driving school! Anthony and JT were both patient, professional, and made me feel really confident behind the wheel. I highly recommend them to anyone learning to drive! read more

I highly recommend this driving company. The drivers are patient and they take their time with you. Thank you Anthony for helping me to the best of my abilities. Although, it took lots of lessons and multiple road test to finish, you pushed me to not give up. I appreciate you and Thank you Ranks again!! read more

I am so proud to say that I passed my road test on the first try today. I had both Randy (5 lessons) & Ryan (final 3 lessons) I learned a lot from both instructors but there was something special about Ryan!!! The way he teaches/ instructs makes driving so much easier than what it seems. I'm so happy with what I know and I would definitely recommend Ryan to anyone considering taking lessons with Ranks! HE'S THE BEST!!!!! read more

Great school hands down! Anthony was such a great instructor, a lot of patience and plenty of helpful advice that helped me so much to pass my road test! Takes the time to teach you different ways which is great! read more

Wow it was really really awesome training with these guys, I learned a lot in all of my lessons and I can't thank them enough. Listen too these guys if you decide too use them, don't sweat it if the trainer you liked isn't the trainer who shows up too train you. Everyone of these guys has something to offer so the more advice you get from different trainers the better. I passed on my first try with them, it was fun and nerve racking but Ranks trained me well. Use them, listen too them and work on your driving skills and you'll pass as well. Thank you Ranks for all of your help. -Denver read more

I passed my test! Josh is extremely nice and Anthony always gives great advice. Thanks guys, it felt good passing my test in the first try

I can not thank JT enough for the lessons, Anthony for giving me the confidence today while taking my road test and Jayde for always being so nice and accommodating through email and phone. Thank you all so much! read more

Update: so I get this message in my inbox from Ralph (the sensible owner at this establishment), so for his sake I'll be as cordial as possible in my updated review. Upon renewing my permit a while ago. I asked the worker at the DMV, "is it legal for a driving school to allow someone to complete lessons with an expired permit?" to which I was emphatically told NO. The day I walked into this establishment my permit had already been expired for over a year. I only dropped by to pick up a booklet to refresh my memory on the test that I had to take to renew it. Samantha said, well why don't you sign up for classes now, urging me to take advantage of their 10 lesson package. I said my permit is not valid, I need to renew first, to which she said, "oh, no no no, you only need a valid permit to take the road test, you can take your lessons with an expired permit." I was cautious, but she said "we do this all the time, just make sure to renew it before your road test"... With that being said, I handed over my credit card to pay for the classes and my well over 1 year expired permit, she made copies of my permit and worked up my bill, then handed me a copy of my receipt. I left the establishment with a driving lesson for that weekend. Over the next few weeks I took several lessons with my expired permit. Unbeknownst to me I thought, hey, they are professionals (I use that term very very lightly now that I know how they operate) they must be right. They already knew my permit was expired, yet they still decided to break the law and allow me to take road lessons? Now, is this the kind of place you want your children to go to? Is the the kind of place YOU want to go to? A place full of liars, who have instructors that tell you to floor the gas pedal on crossbay blvd to get over your fear of driving? A place where their reviews are fabricated? Look at each and every review (some that have been removed, or are hidden from yelp) and you will see each review was written the same day or maybe a day apart from each other with no other reviews, tips, check-ins or yelp usage at all. Sounds fishy to me. To miss Irene, I am happy that you had a great experience, the dog I mentioned may not be there now because they moved their location a few blocks down. So Ralph, when you say "we could not continue on without a valid permit" you should instead say, I should've never been so money hungry to sign someone up for classes without a valid permit. So yes, my stance still stays the same. I vehemently do not recommend this place to anyone, and my rating remains the same. read more

I have been using Ranks for years now for my own purposes. I have referred my family, friends, cousins and my clients and everyone always reports back and thanks me for sending them there. Samantha and Ralph are great, they answer your questions and prepare you for your road test and help to put you at ease. Keep up the good work of getting people to drive civilized!!! read more

I came to this driving school because of the convenient location(downstairs from the A train) and I have a few friends that took lessons and 5 hour class here. The "5 hour" pre license course was good and easy to sign up for. After my 5 hour class I informed them that I need very early road test date because I recently purchased my first car . I took a few lessons here before my road test since I was using their car for the test. I had two driving instructors but I only remember the name of one, Josh. They were both very informative, taught me what'll be on the road test and how to perfectly parallel park in a few seconds. Josh drove me to the testing site the morning of my road test and we arrived early and I was the first person to take the test and I PASSED. After the road test he drove me back to the driving school and I was on my way! They're very good at what they do and the staff is very kind. I definitely recommend RANKS and thanks for helping me reach another huge milestone. read more

Great school, I would recommend this place to anyone. My instructors Anthony and JT were patient and gave good advice and instructions on what I could better. Passing my road test was a breeze thanks to these guys. read more

This place is the best place to learn how to drive. The driving instructors are calm and skillful. I passed my road test on the first try

Mitt was an awesome instructor! He was patient and kind. He taught me great take aways and trucks to use to make parallel parking easier. Great school and I highly recommend Mitt! Ps passed on my first time! read more

Hands down, a great experience and fantastic training! I'm a nervous driver but Ralph and his staff were patient, informative and thorough. They put me at complete ease throughout the entire process. If there were any areas that I needed work on, they worked with me until I got it right and strengthened my confidence all at the same time. I managed to pass my driving test with ease with only one error and that's all thanks to the guidance of Rank's Driving School. If you're looking for a driving school that are equally passionate about you passing your driving test while being educated on the do's and don't of the road rules put into practice - this is the place! read more

Got my driving lessons from here about four years ago and had a great experience! Very nice drivers who are patient and take their time and made me feel confident before I took my road test. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. read more

My motto is this if they helped me pass a road test on the first try then they certainly deserve a five star rating. Passed today and I couldn't of done it without the help of these guys.Tariq, Mitt, Josh are wonderful instructors. Their positive energy really gave me the confidence to believe I could do it even when I thought that I wouldn't be able to. So thank you Ranks instructors and staff for helping me reach a goal I never thought I would be able to achieve! read more

I'm always fair in my reviews even when I am annoyed so I will start with the good. Ralph is a good instructor, I liked him... the problem is you more than likely WON'T ever get him as an instructor as he is mostly busy and unavailable. I was only able to get him once unfortunately. Josh is polite. I won't detail all the things I absolutely hated about this place for the sake of the fact that I did like Ralph after I finally met him the day before my test and he is the owner. Overall, I wish I could get my money back. So glad it's over! I immediately went to a new driving school and it's a HUGE DIFFERENCE. At my new driving school The staff is organized, the customer service is amazing, and the instruction is very clear. I don't feel nervous or like anyone is talking down to me during the instruction. I'm just sad I wasted money and days off of work at Ranks, but hey Lesson learned when something doesn't feel right from the first lesson trust yourself! read more

Alrighty. To start off, this is my actual experience with the school and It is not in any way "fabricated." I originally decided to go to Khan's driving school. I got a few recommendations from family, but he was out of town and when I called in his son picked up. I decided to just go with his son's school instead and he gives me a date on the 5-hour course over the phone. I came home that day and decided to look up the reviews on this school. The majority of them seemed good and they were enough for me to give them a shot. Unlike Simone's comment from 2013 (sorry about your bad experience with them Simone, and my review is not a fabricated one despite this being my first review. Actually, I had to write up a review about my experience after seeing yours) my experience with Ranks was good. The office was maybe a little small, but the back room was not how it was described in one the comments here. It was neat and everything looked organized, no animal stench or nothing of that sort. It was perfectly fine. The 5-hour course went well. Ralph was good at getting the idea across and knew what he was talking about. Also as I came to find out later, he's a pretty cool instructor. Before leaving that day, I had them set up a couple of appointments for lessons. A week or so after I asked them to set up an appointment for me for a road test, which they let me know the date of the following day. From here on pretty much everything went smoothly... I went on one or two lessons before I had to take the road test, and on the day I took their car over there and took the test. The morning of the test, one of the instructors came to pick me up. He was cool. He went over how the test works with me (how long it is, how the location is, what I should try to do well and what I should try to avoid, etc.). Everything so far was going just as I expected it to, if not better. Despite everything, I failed the test that day because some of my old driving habits got in the way (or it was just bad judgement). I was supposed to be writing up a review about this school at that point, but I knew I was going back for more lessons. A month later, I call them back up and have them set up another road test for me and two more lessons. Ralph worked with me to point out my weaknesses and overcome them. He wasn't ever rude or impatient (maybe one of the reasons I stuck with this school). Second time around, the road test felt easy and I passed with 5 points. Overall, I had an easy and smooth experience with this school. Felicia and Samantha were really nice and courteous every time I talked to them over the phone or in person Ralph was also a great guy. I rate this school 4.5/5 stars, but since I can't do that I'm giving them a 4/5. read more

This was my second driving school. I had went else where and failed my test. Here all the instructors were great! The owner was also amazing he was the one that gave me the last class and the boast of confidence to pass my driving road test. I recommend this school 100x. read more

I would say It was a worst experience for me. I went for a package with 4 lessons. I scheduled my last lesson on the test day. On first 3 lessons, I was doing great. But all of a sudden, on the day of test, Ralph came to give lesson and tells I wont be able to pass the test. Trying to get more lessons to make more money. Also, on day of the test, I ended up giving my driving test on different car , not the car I was taking lessons on. So, it was a worst experience for me and the day was horrible. read more

I've had a great experience, thanks to Samantha, Raf, Josh, and Felicia! They all patiently taught me how to drive and made sure I learned correctly. They are very professional, easy to work with, and they ensure the student is ready to be tested.. I recommend friends, family members, and everyone else to Ranks Driving School. They're the best in Queens!! read more

This place is amazing, josh is great!! I was terrified of getting behind the wheel and after each class I get better and better thanks to josh for helping me and giving me confidence, I definitely recommend this driving school !! read more

I never drove before, had no clue how to even start a car. Did my research, asked around and heard nothing but the best things about Ranks. So I booked 8 lessons & I couldn't be anymore happier I did! By the 3rd one I knew all the basics - parallel parking, broken u-turn, left/right turns. The instructors Ralph and Josh were extremely patient, personable and they perfect your weaknesses, which I loved about them the most. They want to see you pass, and actually teach you how to drive the right way unlike other driving schools my friends have been too and I have heard about! Felicia the receptionist at Ranks is so sweet and always keeps on top of the appointments by calling a day ahead. Which is a plus! My road test was today and I PASSED! :-) I came from not knowing anything about driving or using a car, to being a perfect driver! Thanks so much to everyone at Ranks. You guys know your stuff!! I highly recommend this driving school to anyone who's looking, willing to learn the right way and wants to pass there road test! read more

I just passed my Road Test and is all thanks to Josh and Ralph. Even though josh was tough on me, it was exactly what I needed to realize all the nonsense I was doing at the beginning. Now I have confidence and I am comfortable with the road. The prices are great and the people try their best to accommodate your needs. read more

I had a great experience with this Driving School which such a relief for me being I was coming from another Driving School where I had such a horrible experience and had aid a ton of money. I originally paid for a Package from Ferrari Driving School because they came up as "the Best Driving School' which was not true. They are very expensive, over rated & unprofessional. Almost everyone that works in their office is Rude they have horrible customer service. It was such a relief to find a driving school that wasn't trying to rob me & just force me to take lesson I didn't need. My instructor was Josh he was very Firm and Laid Back. I learned a lot from him & he helped me a lot with my confidence when it came to driving. He is a very knowledgeable and extremely patient instructor. He does a great job at making you feel comfortable and not nervous. I would definitely recommend this driving school. read more

Ranks Driving School is the best school around I have been to many other driving schools and this one was very far the best . Other schools I went to either i did not pass or they bailed out on me before my road test. I took the 8 lesson package. Samantha was wonderful and very happy and helpful and my instructor Josh was outstanding and one of the nicest an helpful person i have ever met. I passed on my first try with this school unlike previous schools. I also have recommended them to my family and friends and they passed too. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a great driving school. They are the best !!! read more
