They claim there are several instructors, there is only one. The resident instructor is not great with nervous drivers, despite what it says on the website (when I asked clarifying questions and showed signs of anxiety, she told me I was letting my ego get in the way of my lessons). Both the office and the instructor said, if she wasn't a good fit I could see another instructor through the school. When I asked for a new instructor, they made me wait over a week, so they could call an instructor that's not affiliated with the school to give me lessons. Because he doesn't work there, when I would try to schedule lessons over the phone, (which they tell you is the best way to schedule lessons) it would take several phone calls over the course of a few days to finally book a lesson. While the instructor they called in is better for nervous drivers (he's more patient, and actually addresses my anxiety while driving), he will share many of his conservative political opinions thoughout the drive (criticizing people on welfare, talk about how he's looking forward to Trump deporting "the gangs"). He's also always at least 10 minutes late, despite that the school tells you, the student, up front that if you are at all late to the lesson it will cut into your time. Today, I got to the office 10-15 minutes early, and my driving instructor was over 30 min late. When I asked the woman in the office (who is the owner of the school) if she could call him to see where he is, she shut me down to tell me he's running late cause he's coming in from Long Island and traffic is bad. He told me of his own volition that he was late because of a medical concern, so clearly she didn't even ask him why he's running late. He also told me she didn't ask him where he was til 20 minutes after my lesson started, (so after I had already been waiting in the office for over half an hour). I've already been having a hard time learning how to drive, dealing with these kinds of things every time I go to the office, makes learning an even more difficult process. Unfortunately, they don't give refunds, or else I would have left this school by the second session I had with them. I hope there are better driving schools that I just don't know about, otherwise I would suggest, find a patient friend to accompany you and learn from the YouTube channel Conduite Facile for DMV specific advice about the road test (learning about this YouTube channel is probably the most valuable lesson I learned from this school) cause you would probably have a better experience learning how to drive. read more

This is the most unprofessional establishment I have ever done business with. What should have been an easily handled process was delayed for OVER a month. I attended a 5 hr course via ZOOM with this business & dealt with email issues, link issues, and then subpar communication skills from its employees. The employees that answer phones insist they have no idea what's going on between the other staff & provided no true solution even after vocalizing they were aware of my delayed services. If you live next door with time to waste, I'd say this may be a safe bet. I narrowly failed my road test after using an incompetent driving school. Being near my home, D &E Driving School seemed like a nice fit to help me recoup. Unfortunately, the environment and customer service was unsettling. I encountered 3 people, who I assume are driving instructors here. I regret that I don't have their names to be more specific, but one of them (a young man of South Asian descent) was polite and amicable; he answered any questions I had with clarity and friendliness. However, there was one person (a bulky Caucasian male) who offended me. Again, I had already taken plenty driving lessons at another school, so I told them I didn't need much work; at most, I would take 2-3 lessons. This person began mocking me for thinking I was prepared ("ooh, sure... you know how to drive. Yeah"). My surmise is that he wanted me to take many driving lessons at this place, which is understandable; but you need to be more tactful to customers. In addition, the place smelled somewhat like cigarette smoke. To me, that odor is a sign of classlessness. Unless I have no choice, I don't wish to interact with such places. read more

I usually don't do reviews but I this place...so disorganized, they constantly called me to always reschedule my lessons. I literally got 3 different calls asking me to rescheduling the same appointment, and the final time I set it for the instructor was late! Then he had the nerve to be on the phone the majority of the lesson. "Our specialty is nervous drivers"?? That instructor taught me twice and he was rude each time. One star is too much. Today, I stopped by their office @ around 10:15AM and nobody was there despite the advertised opening time of 9AM. When I got home at around 11:15AM, I called their office and I was told that there was an available 5-hour class on the same day @ 11:30. I hurriedly dressed to try to get there on time but by the time I was on my way out it was about 11:25. I called the "school" IF it was okay if I get there at around 15 minutes late. I was told that if I am 10 minutes late, I can not register for the class. So I made a 360 and headed back. At around 11:50AM, the same guy (Mr. E.Diot) called me back to ask if I am still coming to the class. Why is this "school" still open? read more

I paid for the 10 lesson package and my first 4 were ok .. then they switched my diving instructor .. he was rude, had no patience at all and I felt like that driving lesson was a waste of time because he had no idea what I knew. I called the driving school that same afternoon and asked for my first instructor who taught me because the one I had today was awful!!! He barely taught and was always on his phone! The lady at the office said no problem and when the day of my next lesson came around it was the exact same instructor.. I paid a lot of money to be TAUGHT and he barely did that which is why I didn't want him as my instructor but they didn't care. Also his car steering wheel was always getting stuck... not to mention he was always late! 30 minutes late on my road test and wouldn't answer my phone calls. when I was setting my appointments for the lessons the woman on the phone said she can only schedule 8 right now and can't schedule too far ahead so she said call back the week before your road test to set the last 2. I called and the man said he was all booked. I told him the woman said to call back a week before my road test and he said that they would never say that and got an attitude on the phone.. when I began to keep telling him that's what he woman said he said that he would let me know if any classes got cancelled. Never even mentioned a refund until my dad called. So on the day of my road test.. I can't remember his name but it's the instructor I did not like, he took me to the wrong test site and he seriously asked me why I didn't tell him!? Wtf?! I'm not the teacher here and I wasn't the one driving. It's your job to know. He also drove there with no seat belt on, speeding, swerving off lanes, no signals and was on the phone. So at the beginning of 2020 I came to D and E driving school and started my driving lessons. During the whole experience I only had one problem and that was after COVID Lockdown lifted for business I couldn't get a hold of them to continue my lessons until I went to the office. But besides that all the instructors took their time with me and helped me learn in every way I can. This place is a joke lol. I tried to give this place a chance despite ALL THE NEG REVIEWS. I went to take the 5hr pre licensing class today to come and find out that it would be a problem. Apparently the "boss" was not in the mood to come in to work today. While I waited for the "staff" to get it together, I heard the "boss" tell the girl at the desk, " Take her ID, the money and tell her(me) to sit my ass down, that he's on his way." LOL yeah okay. I didn't even bother "sitting my ass down" to wait, I took my ID and my money and left to another location to schedule my class. Not only are these people disorganized and unwelcoming, but the place reeks like dog! It legit smells like a basement full of pit bulls and it's so musty, hot and cramped! HORRIBLE PLACE. I initially had my first driving lesson on 8/8/14. The instructor was 10 minutes late and I wasn't given the full hour for my lesson. We started around 12:15 and my lesson ended at 12:46. The following week I called twice Monday afternoon to confirm my lesson for Tuesday and surprise....no one answered the phone. I arrived Tuesday at 12pm only to be told I had no lessons planned and that the next available lesson would be Thursday. Mind you I live in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It a pain to get Woodhaven and to be told that was very frustrating. The driving instructor informed me to come Tuesday and I tried to call to confirm so I showed up because according to policy if I am late or miss an appointment I will get charged 15$. I asked for a refund in which I was first told that the money is NOT Refundable(which I have him recorded saying so)....Then I asked him to show me where I signed off stating that my money was not refundable.. he couldn't. Before I sign anything I read it and no where did it state that I am not entitled to a refund. DO NOT BE FOOLED. YOU ARE ENTITLED TO A REFUND IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICES OFFERED. I was not happy with the run around, the lessons, the people, the attitude. This is a horrible driving school. I would not recommend this to any family, friends. You're better off going elsewhere, trust me. read more

Excellent driving school. I was able to pass my road test on my first try. The instructors are always willing to work around your schedule even if that means they have to stay later. They take their time teaching you step by step and are always willing to answer any questions you have. They also tell you what you need to work on and help you by telling you how to specifically fix it. I would definitely recommend this driving school to anyone! read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had in my life. Office managers and instructors were unprofessional and made lewd remarks. Very uncoordinated in time, manager would schedule for time period where instructors were unavailable and would cancel and reschedule at last minute. Workers made racist remarks and I was actually cat called by one of them. I wasted a good amount of time waiting for instructors to start lesson as instructors would be late every single time. Five of my ten lessons were rescheduled after had my work times scheduled around the lessons. Instructors were terrible as well. Instructor did not teach me anything and practically made me drive straight during the whole lesson; kept on telling me I was turning wrong but did not take effort in telling me how to turn the correct way. He then told me I needed extra lessons after wasting about 3 lessons asking me personal questions to distract me from the fact that he wasn't teaching me anything.
