I am only afraid that this recommendation might make him too busy for further work I may need.

Jeff is terrific!…read more There was a leak in our kitchen which we knew was coming from the only full bath, one flight up. We thought it was the shower. Jeff came in, gave us an estimate for replacing the kitchen ceiling, and we agreed to go ahead, knowing that whatever would have to be fixed in the upstairs bath would cost extra. My husband and I were honestly expecting it would cost another 200% or more. Jeff found the leak (it was the clean water source for the toilet tank and not the shower at all), showed us the problem, and went ahead and fixed it. He redid the kitchen ceiling and painted it, all with minimal disruption to two people who work from home. And the extra cost? It was an additional 33 1/3% (or, an additional one-third added to the initial estimate)! Clean, quiet, professional, fast, smart, I cannot say enough good things about him!

J.L. Stone - competitive pricing, quality service…read more Professional and personable demeanor; creative and thoughtful approach; proficient and exceptional workmanship. Last year, I hired J.L. Stone for an extensive house renovation project, including but not limited to, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a finished basement. Upon the commendable completion of the project, I can confidently attest to Jeff's skill and expertise, most notably demonstrated in his carefully crafted tile design and excellent carpentry work. Jeff listened patiently, offered helpful suggestions, was agreeable to most requests, and when presented with a challenge, was up to the task. In fact, my favorite feature is the herringbone patterned backsplash in the kitchen, which he meticulously custom-made - a real masterpiece! Overall, my experience working with Jeff was positive, enjoyable, and collaborative. He transformed an old, tired, and ordinary house into a fresh, modern, and remarkable home.

Terrific job done by Boston Framers!…read more We had contacted seven other contractors before getting such a positive response from Boston Framers. Our initial inquiry was sent on a Saturday, but the owner, Ruy Barbosa, replied within an hour. He met us the following workday to go over our needs and discussed various options. He projected confidence at being able to renovate our deck yet maintain its overall look. He was willing to work with us and the city's historic commission to preserve some key features of the deck. During the course of the work, Ruy and his staff were responsive to questions or changes that we requested. Communication with them was great. They were eager to please us and found ways to make the project stay on-time and within budget, even when curve balls were thrown at them. Overall, they renovated our dilapidated deck boards with composite flooring. They removed heavy railings and pillars, completely overhauled the structural supports, installed the composite flooring and finally replaced the railings & pillars. Additionally, we had them pressure wash and paint the deck. The cost associated with the structural supports and flooring was very much in line with what we believed was reasonable. We liked their work so much that they have also redone our rear porch & steps. Currently we are waiting on estimates for three more home projects. Before and after photos attached

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. Would take weeks and, more than once, even months…read moreto get them to come back and do any work (see screenshots of my text interactions with them -- note the dates). They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.
