This would be my fourth visit and she still doesn't remember me even though I had a conversation with her and her husband.. hahaha.. Anyway, I came here to ask for Rani to work her magic on my brows because I over-plucked my left brow -- making it not even. I asked her to make them even again. She asked me if I already plucked them into the current shape I had. I told her yes... but she was the one who threaded them into that shape in the first place. I was just plucking them to maintain its shape which I screwed up when I over-plucked it. My friend tagged along to watch and she noticed how Rani would just tap on the hand sanitizer. Never pushing it down to get the solution. She would rub her hands together and apply the solution on the client's brows. But her hands were dry so what was the point of that? Feeling iffy that my friend pointed all of this... I hesitated to sit on the chair. She basically did the same thing to me and I didn't feel any solution on my brows. Another thing she kept doing was plucking my skin a couple of times to get the itty bitty hairs. That stung a bit.. I noticed how she kept plucking more hairs that I started to get anxious. I had a feeling she was over plucking them when I told her I've already plucked them. I literally wanted her to stop right there before she plucks any further. At the final look, my brows did get even but at a price. She made my brows more thin than what I'm used to. Idk if thin brows are a popular thing within her clients, but I would have preferred medium sized brows. Not too thick but not too thin. But when I noticed more carefully at more brows, my left brow was more thin than my right one. At first glance, you can't tell but if you look more into it... It's kind of obvious. Later that night, bumps started to form at my brow bone --- where you would put the highlight at if you were to apply makeup. The bumps were from all those times she plucked my skin instead of the hair. I counted a total of 3 bumps. That's far too many mistakes in the first place. I don't even mind ingrown hairs that you can't pluck in the first place. But she was so persistent at getting them!! I'm giving her three stars for all the other times she threaded my brows. The first and second time were on point. But the third and fourth time made me question her work.. It's not sanitizing if you really think about it because she puts the thread in her mouth. The thread she uses for your brows.And the pretentious "oh I'm going to sanitize my hands real quick". Sigh.. but you can't beat the price though. $7! read more

First time having my brows threaded and it looks awesome. She listened to what I wanted which was a clean up and also suggested to shape the arch of my brow a little more so that it thins gradually from the beginning to the end. After threading, she used a tweezer to help get rid of the little hairs. Loved the experience. Some said it would hurt, but it's better than tweezing! read more

Rani is a great threader. I go to her regularly and she has never disappointed me. She is also very sweet, friendly and warm. The cost is too cheap so I always give her a huge tip! Everyone else should too! (If you can afford it.) You will see why when you get there. She is a hard worker who always manages to keep her cool. Classy lady! This lady really does take her time w/a full face threading, but the eyebrows turned out a bit thinner than usual. There was a long wait. I guess that happens when a business has 4.5 Stars on Yelp. :/ 1 star for service 1 star for price 1 star for cleanliness 1 star because this guy came around selling fruits from his cart w/chili seasoning and lemon. It made the wait a little easier to handle. :) P.S. I also only came here because of free or easier to find parking because I was on a scooter. Eye Brows and Hair....only certain people can touch! I am usually very cautious about who touches my eyebrows and wanted a threading place instead of waxing. It is very difficult to find someone I trust with my hair and eyebrows. I had no choice because I needed my brows threaded and my regular threader was out of town. Female emergency!?! Wow. Not sure how to feel about this place?? Yes- it's in the back room of a bizarre wholesale-y clothing shop on Mission. The threading "room" is sparse, a salon chair with six collapsable chairs around, a whiteboard with "EYEBROWS" and some phone numbers scrawled on it, and an oscillating fan in the corner. At the center of this operation is Rani, the wife of the owner of the clothing shop who does threading as a bargain basement price of $5. The accommodations are definitely sparse. And I unfortunately waited about 45 minutes (5 girls deep) to have my brows done. I will say, Rani did an excellent job, but I wasn't too jazzed about the wait. Also- as I was leaving there was a slight altercation with two customers claiming they were the next in line. Obviously word has gotten out about this spot. Maybe Rani should invest in one of those ticket number machines? read more

I've been seeing Rani for about 6 years now and going strong. Shes the only one I allow to touch my eyebrows. She can get a lil rough around the edges but she truly got that magic touch. Lol. I'd definitely reccommend her if your eyebrows are on the thicker side. read more

I had to have her go over a few areas multiple times and was still left with messy and uneven brow lines, which I've never had a problem with at other places. She is an artist. Super cheap: $5. She is only open from 10:30-6:30 M-Th, but she talked about adding in Friday. Very nice. She threads in the back room of her shop, so not salon quality to say the least, but it's very traditional for threading places to do this. Yelp, how could you steer me so wrong? I don't understand how Rani has 4.5 stars! My first experience here was bad, but I went back again thinking "that time must've been a fluke" because y'all are singing her praises here. But I've reached a final conclusion: this is NOT a good, fast or sanitary place to get your eyebrows. All it is is cheap. $5 for eyebrow threading is an AMAZING price and you won't find that price anywhere else. But that's pretty much where the pros end. Yes, Rani is very thorough and takes her time with each person which is great - but it also means that if there are 3 people waiting in front of you, expect to wait about 45 minutes. The wait is totally insane. I've come at different times of day and every time, the wait is 30+ minutes. I ended up just leaving twice. I tried to make an appointment over the phone once, and she kept saying "just come in, just come in." So I came. And I waited 45 minutes. I finally realized that saving $5-10 on eyebrow threading isn't worth waiting around for that long. About the actual threading: she did NOT listen to my request to please keep my eyebrows thicker. I kept repeating myself, asking her to please not make them too thin - she acknowledged that she understood, but in the end, my eyebrows were so thin and I was horrified. She gets a little too tweezer-happy. This happened on a particularly busy day; she honestly seemed tired, like she was not fully concentrating. I also find that it's really just not sanitary. The tiny studio space doesn't look or feel (or smell) very clean. She touches your face a lot during the threading, moving your face from side to side, and every time she did, I cringed because I watched her do this to every woman before me without washing or sanitizing her hands between each woman.... which means she touched a bunch of women's faces and was now touching mine. Hands are dirty, and I felt like my face was so dirty by the end of it. I feel bad for giving sun a negative review because she seems like a really nice and honest woman -- but I wanted to be truthful because my multiple experiences here did NOT align with a 4.5 star rating. read more

She did a good job and was meticulous, but unfortunately sanitation is a BIG issue. I got my eyebrows and upper lip done, and when she went back to fix spots she used a tweezer that is uncleaned and used on everyone else. She picked at a few spots near the corner of my lip yesterday and today I woke up with a huge infection on that spot. I feel like I need medical attention because it looks disgusting and is very painful. Don't go here if you care about cleanliness, but if you do tell her not to use the tweezers. read more

My experience at Rani's was great. I went in without an appointment, and the wait time was about 10-15 minutes. I let my threader know that I wanted her to clean up my brows but maintain the natural thickness. She carefully listened and took off just enough, providing my brows with a shapely arch but not taking off too much hair. The price was also significantly under the average in SF. Her new location is even better and now she's open on Saturdays, so the wait is shorter. First time going to this place based solely on yelp reviews, amazing! The husband and wife were so friendly, and took me right away. Of course I did go on a Monday at 11:30 so I was the first one prob in the store. She was gentle, and thorough. She took her time to make sure they we're even and delivered exactly what I asked. I was in the area and needed to get my brows threaded. I usually squirm about getting my eyebrows done by anyone else than my eyebrow lady back at home, but desperate times calls for desperate measures. I quickly found this place on Yelp and decided to take the leap of faith. Here's the verdict: (+): Rani takes her time to do all of her client's eyebrows right and to her satisfaction. I've had my brows threaded by dozens of people, and she stood out because she was the ONLY ONE WHO USED A MAGNIFYING GLASS to make sure even the smallest little hairs were plucked! DANG, now that's dedication! She's also incredibly kind and sweet. Also, her prices are FAIR - about $7 for brows - I remember searching some other places and their prices were unnecessarily $$. (-): Because she takes a lot of time with each person, EXPECT TO WAIT A LONG A*^ time! Each person takes about 15m, so if three people ahead of you that easily a 45m wait. The other thing about this place is that it's located in a seemingly sketch mall BUT when I asked for quarters to some of the other shopkeepers, they were all SUPER friendly and kind. read more

Good shaping but she ripped my skin, leaving spots of blood and small scabs. Disappointing to leave this review but that's the truth.

The price is definitely one of the lowest you'll find in SF ($7) but I wasn't very happy with my eyebrow. If I could rate one eyebrow 4 stars and the other 1 star, I'd do that, but I cannot in good faith give it more than 2 stars. Although she uses a magnifying glass, my eyebrows were still visibly uneven. I get that they're not supposed to be identical, but the base of my eyebrows had been even beforehand should have stayed that way. She also left odd bald spots and overplucked areas, and tweezing isn't even good for eyebrows because you get ingrown hairs, so I'd recommend going somewhere else where they stick to traditional threading. I moved from NYC, where I had a place in Queens I loved, and this is my first attempt at threading here. I hope the next place I try. has better results. read more

Buttttt she deserves this 5 star review, because I haven't been to a single eyebrow threader in SF that can beat her. $5 for eyebrows? An automatic 3 stars. She gets the full 5 stars because not only is she incredibly reasonably priced, she also does an awesome job with my brows every single time. She uses a magnifying glass to make sure each and every stray hair has been shaped to perfection. She doesn't operate from a fancy salon or anything, it's just the back room of her husband's store, but she keeps a clean space and honestly that's all I really care about. About 4 years ago, I decided to get my eyebrows done. I was scared to get my eyebrows waxed because I heard that the pain was much worse, so I opted for threading. Plus, it was pretty cheap at just 5$, which you can't beat. I decided to go to Rani, without any idea what so ever of her work. She didn't ask me how I wanted my eyebrows, she just did her magic and BAM! Amazing eyebrows. Now 4 years later, and I continue to get my eyebrows done by her. The price now is 7$, but still cheap in comparison to other places. Also, she has fixed my horrible plucking mistakes plenty of times. I just can't thank her enough. I honestly find threading to be more precise than waxing, and though the pain seems the same to me, I prefer threading way more. This place is more of a walk in and get your eyebrows threaded than making an appointment, which I don't personally mind, but be prepared to wait 15-40 minutes if you are not the only person in the room, just saying. read more
