I trust Celia with MY LIFE!!! Seriously! You will not find a better brow artist/aesthetician than her in San Francisco. Prior to finding Celia and Wax Addict, whenever I got my brows waxed, I would always be sooo nervous and uneasy, even after asking for a brow mapping. I'd be sitting in my chair as they were waxing my brows just holding my breath and praying that when they finished waxing, my brows wouldn't be too thin, arched, and ugly. I've been coming to Celia to get my brows waxed for years now, and wow, it's SO nice to be able to casually and comfortably sit in the chair and not be internally freaking out over what my brows will look like once she's finished. Because I know they're going to turn out exactly how I want them to and she knows what she's doing. She's so professional and friendly, her space is always so clean, sanitary, and aesthetic, and the waxing doesn't hurt one bit (and I'm such a scaredy-cat when it comes to pain). I always ask for her to clean up my brows since I come see her regularly, and we do a soft arch, almost straight but not completely straight, brow and it's perfect every time. I don't even ask for a brow mapping because I know she has the eye for what I want and I trust everything she says. Post-wax, she also will help cover the redness around your brows with foundation if you want, and fill them in for you. She's convinced me to purchase the exact brow powder, brow brush, and brow wax she uses because every time she finishes with my brows, I just want them to look like that when I do them myself. So to preface, I have been getting Brazilians for YEARS. I arrived to my appointment on time, and during that time she was just finishing up with a previous client. So i stepped away to the bathroom. I came back and undressed and she started my wax. When i tell you, it was the absolute shortest wax i have ever had. I think it took a total of 5 minutes. I literally asked "oh I'm done?" Because there was no like assessment of the skin, or helping remove some of the ingrown hairs. She was obviously very busy that day, i respect that. I understand she has a business to run. But this service is not cheap, nearly 100 dollars with tip. She was so busy that she was like "okay you can put your clothes on and I'm just gonna clean up" didn't offer me a mirror to look, didn't give me a chance to look at it before she was basically pushing me out the door. As soon as she wiped down the area she was already bringing another person in. When you book the appointment online. It shows you have a reserved time of an hour, i arrived at 3:15 and had gone to the bathroom, undressed, had my entire wax done, dressed, and paid by 3:36. 21 minutes. (Please see receipts) Once i did get home, i was so sadly disappointed in my wax, i have some ingrown that are still there, and so much hair that was missed. I went in hopes of supporting small business and staying away from large wax centers. I left feeling very unsatisfied but don't think i even had an opportunity to express that as i felt so rushed. Last time I went Celia was running more than 10 minutes late. The service lasted less than 5 minutes and I had to trim and pluck strays at home. The service is pricey without the comfort of other high end places. You have to sit upright even when doing a tint. Hopefully the last few experiences have been exceptions. read more

Located conveniently on Market Street right next to the Ritz-Carlton Residences, in a tiny shop on the 2nd floor, is maybe the best place for eyebrows in all of SF. It's certainly the best one I've come across. This is a full service brow establishment. Meaning, not only do they shape & clean your brows, they then makeup & airbrush them to beautiful effect & definition. They don't do this at very many places. The initial fee is $35, then $30 every time after that. You schedule online, & they send you reminders via text/email. For 30 bucks, I get beautifully shaped/cleaned AND filled AND airbrushed brows? Instead of just shaped or cleaned up?! Sure, my former brow stop was half the price. And they would offer aloe gel for redness. But that's something all brow spots do; and it's hardly a consolation now that I've been here. I've seen Celia 3 times now, & she is a talented young lady. I love my normal brow girl, but with my crazy schedule and hers, it was really hard to coordinate. So I took a chance and looked on yelp for an appointment, and was able to book with Ashley! I instantly liked her. She was warm, made me feel very comfortable and really took her time. This review is for Ashley. I guess the 5 stars this place has refers to the other waxers that work there, but Ashley deserves only two starts at best. I made an urgent appointment at Wax Addict because 1) my go-to eyebrow lady hurt her hand, and 2) I was in desperate need of an eyebrow wax for an event I was going to. I figure that their 5 stars proved their salon had top notch waxers. This is not the case. I had an appointment for an eyebrow DESIGN, and Ashley spent exactly 6 minutes waxing my eyebrows. That includes the airbrush makeup they put on afterwards. There was no designing involved. She took a 30 second look at my eyebrows, put some wax on, and just took the hair off without any thought to what's suitable to my face shape, the amount of hair i had, and what the growth of the hair might look like in the weeks coming. I PAID $48, including tip, for her to give me over-plucked, 80s-shaped, 16 year old teenager shaped eyebrows, using no brain or skill whatsoever. I might as well have gotten my eyebrows taken off entirely, since that's how thin she made them. I will now have to grow my eyebrows out for over the next 12 weeks to get some decent hair growth for a good wax and nicely shaped brows. I guess it's my bad that I didn't just wait for my normal waxer to be available. Sure, i'll take responsibility for that. I should receive a refund, or at least a discount, for the damage she had done. Get some practice, Ashley, or get a better eye. Quickness does not suit you here. I almost never write reviews on Yelp, and can't think of the last time that I did. To be honest, the only reason I'm doing it now is because Ashley gave me such a great experience. I had to book last minute, and in my note wrote that I had to be out the door about 40 minutes after my appointment started. Ashley actually texted me directly, since waxing doesn't usually take anywhere near that long (I was just being ultra cautious) to make sure that I had the appointment time correct. I really appreciate that follow-through. The experience in the salon couldn't have been better- Ashley was nice, asked what I was looking for, explained what she was doing and the result was great. It was what you look for in a salon appointment- quick service, kind people, clean and with the intended result. I have pretty thick eyebrows and like to keep them that way, and was really happy with the outcome. I've already recommended three of my friends here and will definitely be coming back. read more

I've been to a lot of different places to get waxed and I must say this is the BEST place I've ever been to. Celia the owner of Wax Addict is professional and fast. She is knowledgeable and very detailed. She explained the difference between hard and soft wax for Brazilians, which opened me up to soft wax. She uses a high quality gentle soft wax that hurts less than the hard wax that European Wax uses. I love her technique on how she applies the wax. Others will place a whole strip of wax to get the job done faster, which is wrong. All hair grows in different directions and it needs to be applied differently by section to prevent ingrowns, which I stopped getting thanks to Celia. I also recommended my friend to get her eyebrows done as well due to her wax person making her eyebrows thin and far apart. I felt bad so, I told her about Celia. She started doing her eyebrows and recommended RevitaBrow to make her eyebrows grow a little faster. Her eyebrows look amazing now! We now both don't go to anyone else but her. She is life changing!
