Joe was extremely thorough with the initial assessment and estimate, especially given that the work had to be done in the very tight quarters of our attic. Then David, Michael, and Jacob spent two days wrangling the new equipment into a space that required a high degree of finesse. We appreciated the care they took with our house from the laying down of drop cloths, to the hauling equipment and duct work up and down two flights of stairs, and the final sweep up. Because of the difficult location, the install team worked extra late to finish the job when they said it would be done, and even though it was late in the evening, they made sure that we inspected the everything from the outside placement of the pump to understanding how the thermostat worked. Ten years ago, we had a furnace installed. To the credit of Ranger, the unit is still working providing heat. Apparently, Ranger and other similar companies found it was not fully functional. Recently, another reputable heating and cooling company fixed the long existing problem. Apparently, it was a simple fix. The correction involved bringing the system to a Two factor system. For over 10 years the furnance ws corrected at the electrical panel inside the furance box. Now to decide to replace the system running properly with a heat pump and new furnace. Ranger put in central AC in our home. It broke down the first year and they were able to fix it. It just broke down again (the third year) and I just got a quote for $3,600 dollars to fix the refrigerant! Convenient timing as I just paid off the 25k bill for the entire system. Charging for a broken product less than 3 years in should be criminal. I'll be out to Ranger for 10k a year, and have only had one summer where the AC actually worked! Joe was so nice, our furnace went out during the snow storm, and it was so cold, he brought us a giant space heater to help until they could come out to do the replacement. We needed to find a new company to service our HVAC and we had a problem with a lack of filtering with the new unit we had installed 3 years ago. Dust would collect on one side of the house only, so much that I needed to dust on a daily basis. We had spoken to the installing company about it and they had us basically convinced the problem was in the vents, not the unit. After looking through reviews of companies in the area we contacted Ranger to sign up for regular servicing. Their response time was fast and the communication from the tech that came out from e-mails to phone calls was almost surprising in the amount of customer service. We were kept up to date on his arrival status. We shared with him the filtering issue and he tested all the vents. No problem with those. However, he discovered the air ionizer on the new system was installed so that air coming out of the house would go through, not air returning to the house. We had a new ionizer installed going the other direction and the tech said to give it a couple weeks to see a difference. I understand, don't over commit. Well, the difference was realized in less than 48 hours. I no longer have to dust the one side of the house on a daily basis and could not be happier with the outcome. read more

Ranger heating & cooling was the company responsible for installing the mini split AC in our brand new house (hired by the builder). After moving in, I had multiple issues with A/C where it never perform as expected. The first issue was that there was not enough cooling/warming coming out of the inside units, after they inspect the system, it seems some wires were crossed on the outside unit and it did seem to get somehow better. Second issue was a leak in one of the inside units. This time, the issue seems to happen as part of the construction and it was fixed. Once summer kick-in, I complained again with the lack of cooling power of the units. This was more evident when temperatures were high outside. Since they were booked for a while, when they show up, the temperature wasn't that high anymore and they couldn't identify any issue with the system. Months go by and I am facing the same challenge during winter, this time I am already out of warranty and need to deal with it on my own. To my surprise, as soon as I contact other contractor, they come and once they open the outside unit, they immediately notice an error on the system (there's a few lights for diagnose purposes). After some additional tests, I was told that I am low on refrigerant and that's why I am having these issues. I am surprised how a brand new system is having refrigerants level issues after less than 2 years and why ranger didn't test it in any of their visit while in warranty. I am now having to do a full leak test and refill the system from my pocket since I have no clue if it wasn't installed properly (enough lbs of refrigerator added given the number of head units and length of pipes) or if there's an actual leak (poor installation). read more

I would like to recommend Ranger Heating and Cooling. They put a Daikin Heat Pump on our house last week. After heating with fireplaces for 42 years, this heat pump is fantastic! It is 88* out right now, and we are at 70* in the house. The unit is so quiet, which is important to us. The best part of our purchase was dealing with their employees. Every employee we dealt with was pleasant and happy. They all did their jobs well and were on time and efficient. You rarely find that these days. Our salesman was Joe Hamlin. First started working with Joe getting a quote got 2 bids which the other was cheaper, but decided to get ranger since Mitsubishi is the "top line" he said which I googled and saw it too. We talked that he will put the drainage on the car port and the vent on the side of the house. So when the date of installment came Daniel was on time and he introduce himself. I let him do his job while I was doing my own with my 3yrs and 5 yrs kids. The job was quick so when I check outside I saw that the vent was mounted on my carport. So I called Joe and ask why it was mounted on my carport he said it was in the contract which I didn't see on the instruction. And so I have to pay if we move it. I was so disappointed! Now I can't close my carport if I want to get a garage since vent is there. So I have no choice if only Daniel check with me first right from the start what the plan is then there will be no problem! Well the job was done got no choice. Another thing Daniel have to come back two times to fix the drainage since it keeps on leaking my carport. They installed our heat pump and hybrid water heater when we built the house four years ago. They were out servicing the heat pump earlier this year and the next day, I got a call from the main office letting me know that the tech noticed some of their initial work on the water heater wasn't up to snuff. Indeed, the metal vent had started rusting due to condensation as it wasn't insulated properly. They informed me that they'd like to come back and repair/replace the work free of charge - 3+ years after they installed it! Many companies would likely have a) not told me there was a problem or b) charged me for the repair. Ranger was honest, stood by their work, and was proactive. Highly recommended. read more

Just had service call saw the business in military white pages for $99 diagnostic. To check the A/C unit wasn't running and thecontrol board is in the furnace the tech charged extra to go check wiring at the furnace then the technician said the $99 dollars only covers the first half hour anything over that time is extra some of that time the tech wasn't doing anything during that time to the HVAC system at my home, then presented me with $174 and cents bill only then I was presented with the details of the bill after the fact this to me was not professionl and should have been disclosed what exactly the $99 dollar diagnostic includes time should have been obviously should be one. I don't think I will be calling them back. read more

I purchased a split heat pump solution from Ranger heating a couple years back. My recent experience has mostly been the maintenance person assigned to my area. And that dude is great. Super quick, professional, and friendly. I have worked with him a couple times now and i would say he represents the company very well. Overall I am satisfied with the company. I think the communication is great and quick, the staff is awesome, the product is pretty awesome... Though this winter will be a better determinant, previous winters have been rough, but I believe that was less due to the fact that the heater wasnt enough and much more due to the fact that we didnt have sub floor insulation. We have rectified that and i may have a small update next year. At this time overall I would highly recommend. I do have a few doubts in my mind, and its why i cant do 5 stars. 1. The cost seems a little high, not crazy high, but higher than some I assume. We purchased 2 split units 3 years back. My guess was most of the cost was going to be the main unit itself outside and the installation. I was shocked when I got a quote for $5000 for adding a single heat pump to our current setup. 2. When I attempted to expand this summer I found out that the unit they put in the bedroom was pretty big. Overall I am shocked considering there are much smaller units available and the size of that room. I was told how big the outside part of the setup was by a installer, but shocked to hear that it had so little room for expansion and I think that is due to the fact that the room unit is enormous for the size of the room. When we open the door I think we can cool most of the upstairs. Like I said I am happy for the most part but have some doubts. One final note that I think needs to be said about the heat pumps themselves. They are amazing for cooling. The other day it was so hot outside, but I was working inside most of the day. I went for a walk late afternoon and realized how hot it was but it was super cool and comfortable inside that I had no idea. So far heating has been hit or miss, but like I said that is probably our house setup more than the device. This winter will really let us know how well it will work. I have been told multiple times that it should be more than enough to heat our downstairs and we will see. One fact that I learned about one winter is how the device works when its heating. Every 45-60 mins it will shoot cold air upwards into the room. This is by design. It heats and when it needs to defrost the heating unit it blows air over the pipes and sends it inside. It was shocking and confusing to me when it first happened. read more

Tylor and Connor were amazing. The install of our heat pump wasn't an easy task since the house is over 100 years old. It took 11 hours in the hot sun to complete. Connor even found a way to make the outside line look clean as it crawled up the back of the house. Even the support staff and scheduling like Veronica and Janice are top notch at what they do. There were a couple of hangups but they had the guys back out the following day to make sure everything worked and looked as it should. I had a tech come out twice to try to diagnose my heating issue. The first time it was fixed for 3 hours, and I emailed after it died again to ask about it, they responded early next business day to set up a follow up fix. This time it fixed it for 3 days, but now it is doing the same thing and we still are struggling with the same problem. The tech and office staff were friendly (which is why this is 2 stars not 1) but we have been waiting for two weeks for a call that was confirmed to happen in email to discuss what the problem is, and our possible solutions and haven't heard anything! We just want to fix our heater... our house is so cold!! :( UPDATE: These guys were gracious enough to refund me for my diagnostic charge, even though they came out twice to try to help. My heater won this round. Gotta find a super specialist! But I do still recommend them. They did their best! and were big enough to admit they did all they could and refund me.
