Today I bought 2 dozen donuts for our department at work. I got a mixture and I was quite pleased with Randy's Donuts. I ate a maple donut. The donut was thick, airy, fresh and a joy to eat. The donut was not greasy and the maple icing topping was great. I could taste the maple and it was not too sweet. Suffice to say our department loved the donuts as well. All were happily eaten up. The staff was helpful while I was there as they filled my order. I will be back. Thank You Randy's you made a believer out of me. I was so excited to discover a Randy's Donuts in Pasadena! They have a dizzying amount of variety. From Texas Glazed to Crondys (their version of a Cronut!), but the donut holes are 1000% the way to go here. I just dropped in to buy a quick breakfast donut, but you can order by the dozen, half dozen, and many more. They have so many flavors, from glazed, chocolate glazed, sprinkles, special designs, donut holes, specialty donuts like the cereal ones and so much more. I just got a sugar raised donut, since I just wanted something simple. The dough of the donut is so good. It's fluffy and chewy and all the things a donut should be. Randy's Donuts was in my Yelp List for a while! Finally, today was my day to go to Randy's ! The shop has 2 enterances; one at S.Lake and the other one at shopper lane. It was easy to park the car at Shopper lane just across from the shop, there were plenty of available spots specially early in the morning. When you enter the shop, there is a very long hallway, it is okay you are not lost, just keep walking then finally you will see what you are looking for towards the end and on your left side. There are a wide selection of fresh donuts waiting for you to choose. We ordered many of their delicious donuts to try: -Maple Raised W /Churros - Nutella chocolate - Matcha Tea Raised - Snow man (seasonal) - Texas Glazed (My husband's favorite) - Chocolate oreos Raised - S'mores Raised - chocolate long John w/ cream - Chocolate old Fashioned - Ham & Cheese Croissants We ate warm Ham& cheese Croissants right away. Okay so rough writing this bc on the one hand I absolutely LOVE the frappes that they make at this location- they use Jones coffee and taste great. The service is also good, no complaints on that frontier. Now: tell me why the donuts here are always super doughy in the middle if they are "raised" donuts, or too dry when cake/ buttermilk? I ordered on door dash tonight for delivery and was given some substitutions for the glazed donuts I ordered- and was disappointed that all of these donuts really SUCKED besides the chocolate crueler, and the pink sprinkle. Those were the only *decent* ones w the pink sprinkle cake donut really being the shining star. I used to work right next to this business on lake and we had donuts delivered often: at times would be *great* but often under cooked or doughy w the raised donuts. Stoked! I just found out there was a Randy's outside of Los Angeles. They call maple bars "maple Long Johns", but they are the same as maple bars. They are solid, just silly name, you should get one or a bacon maple "Long John". You won't be disappointed. They are open during construction, you just have to go in the back door. read more

I entered this donut shop on a whim. I lived for 3 years in Costa Mesa, and many times drove by the location there (it's on Harbor Blvd) and although the giant donut that they have in their sign got my attention, it wasn't enough to persuade me to go visit it. Today, I decided to give this location a chance and it's quite good. The donuts are a tier above the typical Dunkin' or Krispy Kreme's offering, but without reaching the level of Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee. They have a wide variety of options, I tried the Oreos Raised and the Nutella Raised and they were both hearty, voluminous and substantial. Almost like a meal. The atmosphere and service were both great too. The Nutella Raised won when compared to the Oreos Raised (the frosting of the Oreos Raised would flake out and fall off upon contact, but the Nutella Raised was a whole experience and nothing fell of while I was biting into it). read more

Randy's is an LA institution and is one of the places I go to pacify my LA munchies. Twice as pillowy as a KK, and craveworthy. I would do Randy's donut runs with friends (weekends or after final exams) when I lived on the west side. Oh yeah we'd go in the middle of the night too because the Inglewood location is open 24 hours. Now that they are in Pasadena also, (open till 9p), my cravings are sated readily. LOL. You make have seen one of LA's historic landmarks, Randy's donuts in Inglewood. If you haven't nows the time to visit. This Pasadena location has a miniature version of the donut sculpture. But the main reason I come here is I Love everything here. They have new donuts & crondys now also. The Apple fritters tho? I def crave. They've been making these genius apple fritters, lots of apple goodness,since I've been going to Randy's during college. Lines during business hours because only one party is allowed at a time. If you order online however, and pick up, there is a table for pick up orders right outside and you can just walk up and grab your boxes. Don't be grabbin what's not yours. My mom loves this place and gets donuts for the church like every Sunday. My favorite are these donut holes with different toppings. Perfect size for individuals. M&M and Maple are the best! Alright, alright, I get the hype now. I had initially put off coming to Randy's Donuts since it's grand opening due to the long lines I always saw no matter the time of the day. However, the donut cravings were hitting hard so I bit the bullet one day and made my way there. Due to social distancing, only one party is allowed in at a time, hence why the constant line. While you're waiting, you can peruse the menu outside which lists out all their various donuts at different price points. I must say though, upon entering you may find yourself questioning your initial choices because their donut display game is on point! For my first time, I got the apple fritter, blueberry cake donut and the s'mores donuts. One thing I like about Randy's is they definitely don't skimp on the toppings. Just look at all the marshmallows on top of the s'mores donut! The apple fritter was bigger than my face and had sweet, cinnamon-y apples in every bite! Each donut I had was delicious and worth a reorder next time I revisit. While considered a chain, the donuts at Randy's has the charm of your neighborhood donut shop in taste, craftsmanship and quality. I would happily brave the line again to try more of their lineup. I am a huge fan of Randy's donuts. When I had first heard that they were opening up a location here on Lake I was thinking I would wait out the initial rush. But no behold I was there the first couple days of they open. There was a crazy line and now things have drastically improved. The donut some selves are hands-down one of the better donuts I've had. They are way better than a lot of the other places in town. Not going to throw shade at the donut place right across the street. The dough and consistency is very light and has a great texture to it. Which made me really surprised. I thought they were going to be another typical donut place. And the price point isn't outrageous either. It is great value for what you got. The donuts had to be a little bit larger than most places too so there is that wow factor. I am a fan of their more normal donuts. Their fancier ones are fine but not the biggest fan of those. Although my exception is the bacon Long John. Now you are able to order your donuts online and you can pick them up from the front of the store (the Lake side) There is a ton of parking in the back. And you are able to cut through the store. When they first open and the line was probably at least 10 people deep and I was lining up near Mendocino Farms next door. I would say for the first time it's probably better to see the donuts up close and person but it does take some time. I'm not sure if they're still only allowing one party to order knows of one party there to be ready. I've been here twice and I now have a new favorite donut place. read more

Randy's Donuts is an iconic building in LA, with the huge larger than life donut sign. So on opening day, no wonder people were going crazy, wanting to get a taste of their famous donuts after they made their debut in the 626. I was actually at Mendocino getting some food when I saw a huge line next door - didn't know what people were waiting for, but the line was never-ending. It wasn't until I saw someone carrying out the orange box with the "Randy's Donuts" on the front did I realize that they had opened up right next to Mendo's! We luckily were able to get in line during one of the lags - we probably waited for around 15 minutes before we actually got into the store. I'd recommend checking out their menu on-line to see which donuts are sold out for that day. And if you want to save time, you can actually place an on-line order, which they will ready for you and leave on the table in the "online order" section so you don't have to wait. Most of the donuts we wanted to try were sold out for the day - but I was able to still try a few that piqued my interest. I ordered the blueberry cake ($1.60) and the cinnamon crumb cake ($1.35). I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I thought it would be super moist and soft; however, biting into both the blueberry and the cinnamon, our first thought was that the donuts were super dry and crumbly. The cinnamon one actually fell apart as we took several bites. Taste of the blueberry donut wasn't bad - sweetness was pretty good, but I was pretty disappointed with the cinnamon one. The outer cinnamon texture completely came apart from the donut itself because of how dry it was. Probably would not order that cinnamon one again. Got a funfetti cake with ganache ($2.95) for my sister - was kind of underwhelmed at the size and appearance of the donut. It looked similar to a basic donut with sprinkles. But maybe the taste would be better? Unfortunately my sister said the cake had no flavor and tasted bland and dry. She did think that the sweetness from the ganache helped make the overall donut better but she said she would not order this again because of how pricey the donut was. I tried the ganache and I thought it was too cloyingly sweet - not something I personally would enjoy. My dad liked the glazed raised donut that I got for him ($1.35); he ate it the next day, and it was still pretty soft and tasty. My friend also ate his chocolate raised donuts ($1.35) the next day after microwaving it for a few seconds and found it to be pretty soft and fluffy, which was nice since he really didn't have that high of an expectation after the cake donuts. Chocolate old fashioned ($1.60) was okay, but I thought the donut was a little dry. Workers are friendly and super helpful. I thought it was a little weird that they asked us to name off the list of donuts that we wanted, but they didn't start assembling the box until after I had listed all the items. It ended up making me confused about what I had said, and making the worker confused because he had to ask me several times to repeat my list and he ended up forgetting one donut anyway. Would probably be more efficient to grab the donuts as I pointed out the ones that I wanted. I think I expected a little bit more since the hype was so crazy and the lines were so long. The prices for the classic donuts aren't too bad, but the premium selection is a little pricey. If you order a dozen, you do get $2 off, which is nice. They also serve Jones Coffee and take credit card with no minimum. tl;dr - The donuts didn't wow me, especially the cake donuts that I tried. Holy moly! We went for a quick dinner run next door at 5 Guys and saw the glorious sign for Randy's Donuts. Not only did a donut sound good, I knew my kids would be thrilled. Really I should have only gotten 5 or 6 but they have such a good selection of old school and new school donuts that we walked out with a dozen. All of the do it's were fresh and so good and sweet! They have different tiers of pricing, with your basic donuts at the lowest priced tier and their fancy ones at the top. I decided on a mixture of each tier. I'd say the basic donuts are pretty good. A bit oily, as many reviewers have said. But otherwise tasty. The Randy's cream donut is ok, but I think they put too much cream inside. And the cronut was really oily and overly sweet. If you enjoy those fancy and premium donuts, then I can see this as a good place for donuts. If you just want classic donuts, you're better off going somewhere else that's cheaper. Parking can be found in the back lot that is shared among other shops, meter parking along Lake Blvd., or along the one way street of Shoppers Ln (Free for 2 hours). Ambiance/Decor: Your usual look and feel of a doughnut shop. Walk in and see display cases of your doughnuts. You might feel a bit cramped, but just grab and go. There are 3-4 tables in their outdoor patio if you would like to sit, eating, drink, and socialize. Service: Service was great. The staffers behind the display cases were friendly, willing to engage in conversation, and fast. One of the staffers saw me munching away and asked if I liked what I order. Very good. Donut Of Choice: Can't go wrong with the original glaze raise. Soft, airy, quite yum. Pastry Of Choice: Believe it or not, most of the time I go to Randy's Donut it is because of their ham and cheese croissant. Worth the $3.50 +tax price tag. Soft, flaky, and yumm-O! I'll have to admit that I was a bit nervous after seeing so many reviews about stale donuts. Woke up early and decided to check it out. Arrived at around 0630 to find 4 people inside and once I walked in, I was asked to wait outside. Sucked as it was smokey as hell due to the bobcat fire. Another stupid thing is that they want patrons to enter via the front entrance off of Lake where the cashier register is. Once I was allowed in, I had to walk past 3 other customers in the narrow walkway. They definitely need to rethink things through and decide on a dedicated entrance/exit. Opted for mix #2 as it allowed me to choose 2 apple fritters. I'll have to admit that though they were huge, they weren't the best I've ever had but was solid. If I was really craving an apple fritter, I'd head down to Goody's in Cerritos. The raised glazed donut was also pretty good which had a nice chewiness to it. Do prefer pon de ringu at Mister Donut but that requires a 12 hour flight. I'll have to admit that Randy's offers the best donuts in the Pasadena area and will most likely be my go to place that is within a 5 min drive. read more

Originally they had the line come in from the back and down their long hall way which wasn't helpful for social distancing but they've fixed that. Totally wide open lines on Lake heading south. The donuts are sooo tender moist and perfectly cooked....I seriously believe it's one of the top donuts in LA if it's just plain glaze. It's not fluffy airy but has a chew. The apple fritter has a crisp outside, moist inside. So yeah this is worth the wait. The blueberry donut is seriously one of the best I've had. Also moist blue Betty cake donut with perfectly sweetened icing. Even when I went 6 in the morning there was a line so be prepared to wait. I really like that they had the social distancing floor marks in place, they require masks and have hand sanitizer in a few different places. On top of that, there's delicious and fresh donuts! Went here on Monday at 2pm and no line! Tip: You can order for pick up online. Super easy peasy. Also, enter on lake in front of the store to avoid the awkward narrow hallway of squishing against other people from the back lot. I got the S'mores, chocolate and glazed old fashioned donuts. First time having Randy's Donuts and they're definitely worth trying! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and waited for 20 mins to place my order. They are taking in 1-2 people at a time to place an order, so it's pretty reasonable since we are also social distancing. Prices are pretty fair for these kind of donuts. I got to try the red velvet cake and it was YUM. The glazed donuts were also really soft! Donut holes are 50cents per piece, but does not count towards the dozen order of donuts for $2 off special.
