Food was great but they kind of cheaped out when it came to the quantity of the meat. Ballpark fries which came with cheese and your choice of meat could've sworn they put 2 teaspoons of brisket. This is an easy 5 of 5 on my taste buds. I stumbled across this place while waiting to finish sim business up the road. I figured I'd give it a try after my last encounter with BBQ the previous night in a different town. Let me say that this is how BBQ should be done! I ordered the two meat plate with Beef burnt ends and chopped Pork. My two sides were the slaw and potato salad. In my book this is as traditional of a BBQ plate as you can build and boy did they get it right. First, the meat is tender and juicy. There is good flavor on both the Burnt ends and the Pork. The helping size is perfect for a single person looking for a good meal at lunch. Second, the sides were fresh and obviously made on site. You could taste the potatoes in the potato salad and the cole slaw is just the right amount of sweet to be perfect. Of course I had to have some of the great brewed Sweet Tea to go with the meal. The staff are great, very polite and friendly. Overall this experience had renewed my faith in the local BBQ for the East Texas area! It looks sketchy from the outside, once you are in the door it looks even sketchier. It's a mom and pop outfit for sure. I ordered half a slab of ribs with tater tots, beans, and a drink. The wife had a pulled pork sandwich with corn nuggets. We spent a total of $30 for those two meals and I gotta say, it wasn't worth it. The ribs were not all that tender, they seemed like they were just grilled rather than smoked. They certainly weren't falling off the bone. The dry rub was acceptable but nothing spectacular. I really had to rassle the meat off the bones, I hate that. Tots were normal, beans were terrible watered down soup. The pulled pork sandwich was upper tier stuff. Tender well cooked meat had a Smokey flavor. The sweet sauce really made the flavor twang. Corn nuggets were really good according to the wife. My husband and I love local BBQ when we travel and we were lucky enough to find Randy's Smokehouse just off I 30. Staff very welcoming and warm. Chicken breast sandwich (chopped), ribs and burnt ends were all delicious and flavorful. At first taste, beans seemed a bit sweet but the more we ate them, the more we appreciated the flavor. Coleslaw was tasty but we found the potato salad a bit generic. We were able to give our compliments to one of the pit masters and he seemed appreciative. The parking lot was already full so I figured the food was good or just the best place around. However, the Yelp reviews had indicated that I was at the end of the rainbow. And yes, what I found I side was the "Pot O Gold' I had the burnt ends, chopped pork, and ribs. Everything was tender and tasty just the way it was served. The mild sauce was just lagniappe. Stopped by for lunch on a Thursday, staff was friendly and the wait through the serving line was brisk. Good location not far from I-30. The Meats - Being my first time to Randy's I wanted to sample a little of everything. I got the three meat plate with brisket burnt ends, sliced pork, and turkey. The burnt ends were cut into small cubes and were dry. The burnt ends were my least favorite of the three (not good for a Texas BBQ place to have only average brisket). The turkey was good and I loved the sliced pork. The pork was tender and had a great smoky taste. The Sides - I got fried okra, jalapeños, and pinto beans. The beans were good and the okra was great! They cook the okra when you order so it is not sitting around waiting to be served. The jalapeños are sliced not served whole and were a great addition to the meats. The Sauce - they have three sauces: Sweet, Hot and a Mustard based sauce. I did try the sweet sauce as no upstanding Texan wants sweet Yankee Kansas City sauce. The hot sauce was tasty and had some kick but was not overpowering. I also loved the mustard based sauce especially with my sliced pork. Overall a good experience but nothing to write home about. It does not compare to some of the great Texas BBQ you can get at Smitty's in Lockhart, TX; Stanley's in Tyler, TX or the Salt Lick near Austin, TX. read more

"I didn't find a damn thing wrong with it." -my husband. I am not a native Texan. I don't know BBQ, so I won't tell you my opinion on how authentic or real I found this place to be. What I will say is the food here is delicious! I was just passing through and found Randy's on Yelp. I may not know BBQ, but I know sweet tea, and theirs is perfect. My husband and I each got a two meat meal so we could try 4 meats. We had Turkey, ribs, beef, and burnt ends. My husband's favorite was the turkey. "It was juicy, delicious, and everything smoked Turkey was supposed to be." My favorite was the burnt ends. That's probably because I'd never had them before, but oh my, I think I just discovered my new favorite meat! Don't sleep on that brisket and those ribs, though. Both were tasty, and the ribs were perfectly smoked. The hot sauce was not too hot, the mild sauce very flavorful and Smokey. We can also tell you that the baked beans were outstanding, and the potato salad was fresh, simple, and as good as mom's. The portions were perfect. Filling, not overwhelming. The bathrooms and dining room were clean, the service was friendly and competent, and above all the food was outstanding. This is real Texas BBQ! The place doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it has a baseball theme to it. Ribs are real smoky, tasty, and has a dry rub to it. Pork was real tender, smoky, and mixes really well with all the sauces. 3 sauces and all are phenomenal - sweet, original, and hot which is the original with some cayenne or chili powder added. The hot has a bite to it but it is more flavor than heat. Potato salad is creamy and chilled. Nothing bad about the fried okra and the beans are made in house....not just out of a can with extra added stuff. They have several other choices for sides like slaw and fries. I can't say enough about Randy's. Bbq is my favorite food and I eat it almost weekly. Randy's is one of the best BBQ places I've ever eaten at and may be at top of my list. read more
