We stumbled upon this Yelp listing when searching for bread. How we ended up searching for Bread is kind of a long story, but we wound up in this little store nonetheless. We were welcomed by the charming owners who were buzzing about trying to care for customers and make bread. A sweet lady asked if it was our first time and proceeded to give us a full blown tour. We spent a good 15 or 20 minutes chatting with her and learning about how bread is made, talking about her life and how she and her husband wound up opening the store. We concluded with taste tests of different products they offer. It was not at all what we expected, and kind of felt like an entire afternoon event rather than just popping into a bakery. By their own admission the bread is expensive, $20 for the standard sourdough loaf - but it is all organic, lovingly crafted and carefully selected to have a process and ingredients that avoid chemicals or preservatives. The bread (and other stuff we bought too) was delicious and it was a very cool place to visit for sure! read more

Wow! What a pleasant experience. I walked into the most welcoming shop. Greeted by Chef Randall, he was very sweet and excited to have me try their sourdough and explained what made their bread so special. Talk about clean ingredients! I tried the country sourdough and the cinnamon maple pecan sourdough with some raw butter. mmm mm. I went with the country sourdough loaf for $20 and was asked if I would like it sliced. I asked for thin sliced and sure enough he brought it over to his bread slicer machine (all the way from Belgium) and encouraged me even take a video of the process. It cut it super quick! He also brought out a sample of a special "no sugar bread pudding muffin" not yet on the menu. YUM! As he was packing up my purchase, he threw in a card on how to properly store the sourdough and tips on how to eat it. It was very informative. Especially if you don't know anything about bread aka ME. He also added a local magazine which features some recipes, news about the town, and farmers market details. I was also encourage to sign up for their e-newsletter. I expect many puns coming my way. Chef Randall is the epitome of kindness. My son and I stopped in to try this highly recommended bread maker today. We had the pleasure of meeting Cyndie, one of the owners. She was an absolute delight. Along with an introduction to the family bakery, was lively conversation about other products they sell, which include jams, honey's, almond butter, tapenades, and balsamic vinegars. She offered us samples of everything. It was discussed with a tremendous amount of passion and knowledge around the health benefits of locally grown products, A2 cattle, and the community coming together to share their products at a central location. Although they offer the most delicious butter to accompany their breads, Cyndie was kind enough to refer me to our local Handy Market for butter imported from France. It lived up to the high expectations I had. We have a very lovely community here in Burbank, filled with so many family owned businesses, and this one was an absolute delight. As soon as I got home, I made some sourdough toast, and it was the perfect snack to the end my day. Eating it during an unexpected hail storm made it that much more magical. read more

LOVE this place! Right here in Burbank. Can't believe we haven't stopped in until this year - they actually opened during the pandemic - sorry it's taken so long to visit - we've been missing out! Husband and wife team, Randall and Cyndie, opened their little bakery specializing in sourdough only a few years ago but they have quite the following now. They are so friendly and passionate about their bread! Randall has been a musician and music engineer for years but one day asked himself "How does one make sourdough bread?" He researched and starting baking bread to give away to friends and family during the holidays and people started saying I want to pay you to bake bread loaves for me and so Random Acts of Breadness was born . When you enter you can't help but smell the freshly baked bread. When we entered this afternoon, fresh loaves were just coming out of the oven and Randall invited us back to the kitchen to see him take the loaves out. Sooooo good. Randall and Cyndi are both very informative about the process of what goes into making their bread (their country loaf takes 3 days to make!) as well as all their vendors who supply the assortment of butters, jams, jellies, tapenades, balsamic and oils. We left with two different loaves, two different muffins, a strawberry pineapple marmalade, a parmigiana tapenade and a French butter. Randall then offered to slice our sourdough loaf on his adjustable slicer from Belgium. They even gave us instruction sheets how to properly freeze and thaw the bread and muffins . This is the epitome of a successful, local small mom and pop business - looking forward to returning and I urge you all to stop by when in Burbank - get some free samples and take home a fresh loaf (they're only open Thursdays-Sundays). Random Acts of Breadness makes the best sourdough, period! There is so much love and care that goes into each loaf, and you can taste it. It is delicious both untoasted and toasted. When you eat it untoasted the slight tang is more noticeable and so addictive. But it's also amazing toasted and spread with butter. They sell really good butter here too. I am so happy I found this hidden gem while walking around on Magnolia Blvd. I was in the area for an event but arrived early so I decided to just walk around and see what shops were here. I stopped in front of this small stop and looked at their window display and saw that they were #1 for bread in Burbank according to Yelp so I knew I had to try it. When I walked inside, there was already 1 other guest in the store and she been there before. She was telling me about their bread and how she's going to travel soon so she wanted to take the bread with her. Patrick was the person helping me and he let me try their 3 different bread sample. It was sourdough, gingerbread and I forgot the last one but I went simple and got the sourdough. Patrick also told me the proper way to store the bread and how to cut it to maintain the freshness. I'm very happy to find this small store and will gladly come back again. I see people saying that bread at the grocery store is better and cheaper than this. Cheaper, yes, but better??? I was in shock when I was told the bread was $20 for a small size loaf. But then I thought well maybe it's worth it. We got some brie to eat with it for our monthly going out meal, even though we ate it at home. It was very delicious. It reminded me of San Francisco sourdough. Will I go back? Probably not. Times are tough right now, my partner lost their job over a year ago and like I previously mentioned we only go out once a month. I really hope this business can survive. I understand the overhead this business has to pay for so I am sure it's difficult. Hopefully we can both make it through this rough time and we can go back and buy another delicious loaf! read more

The bread is very good, highest quality, and has everything you'd want from sourdough. Store has limited speciality foods and varieties of bread. Very pricey, and they want to draw you into some kind of group. Made the simple act of selling me a loaf of bread into a protracted rambling speech, with tons of marketing for other products and places included. Unexpectedly walked into this store and was in total awe. A small but very organized bakery baking just bread. The place smelled amazing. The owners Randall and Cyndie welcomed us and Cyndie gave my husband and I a tour of the bakery while explaining the many steps of making sourdough bread. Currently they bake two kinds. The country loaf and cinnamon raisin. We tried both and purchased two of the cinnamon raisin. It was delicious with butter. They also carry a few good quality products such as olive oil from Ojai, jams, vinegar, etc. They both are very passionate about their work and really enjoy the journey. What a great experience! Co-owners Cyndie and Chef Randall make a cute couple and bake amazing sourdough. Arriving in the late afternoon on a Saturday, my girlfriend and I received a tour of the bakery, learning the process of making the dough and nurturing it to final deliciousness. I knew some but didn't realize the many health benefits of sourdough versus traditional white bread. We ate most of the loaf on the drive back home to the Bay Area, gave a few away and kept four for ourselves. Maybe have to make a pilgrimage once a quarter?! read more

What an absolute treat and worth the trip from the Bay Area. I miss local bakeries!! We arrived late last Saturday, Cyndie (co-owner) gave us a tour and explained the process of creating sourdough boule and bâtard. Stretch and fold is a gentle process versus kneading to help develop gluten. She also warned of the dangers of gluten strands and slash on the top of some loaves that can get into your skin or cut you if you do not let the loaf rest after baking. Delicious breads and best the day baked or runner up is crisping up in a hot oven. We plan on visiting every quarter. Yummm! read more

What a gem of a place in the heart of Burbank! I've been seeing this place on as I've passed by it a few times but boy am I glad I final stopped in. They are the friendliest set of people you'd ever meet. They had some samples that they offered me and my god it was the most delicious sourdough bread I've ever had. I bought a loaf of the traditional one which in some excited to eat this week. They have other items there and types of bread for sale too but I forgot to take a photo of the menu. I will say the loaf is on the pricier side at $16 a pop but you know what there's a lot of love, work, and delicious good ingredients that are used in the bread that makes it worth it. Plus supporting small business. Parking is street parking but plenty available. Definitely will be coming back :) thank you for your kindness and amazing bread. read more

As an amateur sourdough bread baker, 16$ a loaf is a pretty significant markup. You can buy European flour in bulk which when baked as sourdough is "gluten neutral" and thus bake your own for much less. If the bread came with a loaf shaping class I'd consider the investment. Quality bread shouldn't cost so much. *Edit I really appreciate your story and what you've accomplished. I can understand the overhead you're describing, however, I still would suggest a reevaluation of your pricing if you wish to reach your goals. A sourdough loaf consisting of flour, salt, water, and starter costing 16$ is very price prohibitive for many folks. Bread is something that should bring folks together, and at that price, it's hardly inclusive. Best of luck, as your bread is amazing and deserves to be shared. read more

Sourdough is my favorite bread. My partner and I decided to check this new bread place out because we were nearby. First, they have a little vertical mail slot on the door that reads: free sniff preview Which I think is hilarious and brilliant. (See photo). The owner/baker, Randall is a musician who fell in love with baking sourdough. He chatted us up and told us his story while we taste tested his yummy bread. The space is small and set up for shop and go and pick up orders. Don't plan on enjoying your loaf right there on the spot although magnolia park is a lovely place to stroll around and dive into a tasty treat. This place used to be Quenelle ice cream (which I did not enjoy). I'm not sure what it was before that. But now it's bread. My ultimate weakness. The bread is delicious. We've been enjoying our loaf with nothing on it because it doesn't need anything. Personally I find the loaves quite small and very pricey. $16.00 for one loaf that's much smaller than store bought sourdough loaves. But I realize how costly it is to rent space in Magnolia park and the cost of everything right now is out of control. This was a luxury spend for us that can't happen often but I do enjoy supporting a local, small business. They also sell butter, vinegar, and other spreads. If you like bread, you need to check it out. Also it is gluten neutral which brand those who are sensitive to gluten or have mild gluten allergies can tolerate this bread but may not be suitable for those with celiac's disease. Where to begin. This store is magical in only the way people want to see and feel magic. The selection is eclectic, yet personal. There appear to be two types of bread sold, Sourdough and Maple Pecan Raisin bread. I know. When you read sourdough it probably brings up the tang of Panera or some run of the mill place. BUT mah dudes, this is the most amazing, filling, complicatedly dependable sourdough I've ever had, it is 100% worth the visit, worth the price, and worth experiencing what magic actually is at its core. This sourdough is loved and truly cared about, you can tell in each slice. You can, of course, choose to have it unsliced, and each loaf comes with instructions for care and the best way to enjoy it. I cannot recommend this little hidden gem enough. It's worth the side quest! read more

Where do I start? We went to Geeky Teas next door for some board games and saw this little bread shop and thought, "Why not?" We were greeted by incredibly nice folks who gave us samples and explained what kinds of bread they make, jams and butters they sell, etc. We ordered a loaf and when we picked it up the next day, the sweet lady gave me all these instructions about how to prep the bread and when best to enjoy it. Honestly, I just wanted to go in, pick up the bread and get out, but I listened to her because one thing was clear: these folks are passionate about what they do and want you to have the best experience with their products. Sure, the loaves are expensive- as I've read many complain about here - but when's the last time you met a shop owner with such joy about what they offer? Worth it! After going to an event down the street we just so happened to walk by and see one of the workers named Alyssa outside greeting people. She mentioned "Free Samples inside" so of course we didn't hesitate. My 6 year old son & I were greeted by the owner named Randall who offered us a sample of both bread options with butter. WOW we were sold! Randall then walked us through the whole bread cutting experience and explaining the process of baking the bread itself. Customer service is a rarity these days and having someone take their time to give you the time of day truly sets a place apart. What stood out the most was Randall's passion for his bread. I will pay to support someone's passion any day, but I wasn't just paying for that.. the bread is outstanding! The only problem is, you won't be able to eat just one slice! I must say we finished half the loaf on the way home, the nice thing is it is great with or without butter, that itself says a lot. You can also distinguish the difference between this bread and store bought bread, the freshness and detail in each bite was exquisite.
