They have this cool retina scanner that you can pay extra for to get a better map of it, seemed pretty nifty! Dr Lai was very helpful and patient with any questions I had and everyone was really professional and nice with us. Their COVID practices seemed good too. Would highly recommend this place and intend to go here regularly for our yearly checkup! Oh one other thing, I have a weird issue with the drops that dilate your pupils. In the past when i got them I would be dilated and spacey looking for 48 hours. I told Dr Lai this and she used much weaker drops and it helped a lot! My appointment was at 10am and by 10pm my eyes were almost back to normal which is a huge improvement from other times. Thanks!!

Having more than 30 years of diverse experiences, especially in optometry, Dr. Bryan N Sakka affiliates with no hospital and cooperates with other doctors and specialists without joining any medical groups. --- Located next to Kaiser Permanente Koolau. Its in a small shopping complex with another business, lots of parking. Theyre closed Wednesdays and Sundays so book your appts any time. Im not sure what type of insurance they take though. I do know that Dr. Sakka is a huge advocate of contact lenses. Of course the shop has glasses to be fitted and perfected for your face frame but contacts are what hell encourage. I think the prices are reasonable too, not as expensive as though chain-store locations. Hes very knowledgable and caring towards patients. Some of his biggest treatments invlude cataracts and contact lense abuse. Ask him about more info. if youre curious. I know their office is in a bit of transition between staff so hell constantly excuse his messy office spce but nonetheless the customer service provided is great. --- "Thoughtful and thorough! On island visiting family, I needed an urgent evaluation for sudden onset eye pain. My dad is a patient of Dr Sakka and recommended I go nowhere else. The office manager went above and beyond to find an opening for me. Dr Sakka did a thorough evaluation and treatment for my eye injury. He was so calm and friendly, yet has impeccable training credentials and many years of experience. Would highly recommend to anyone, just like my dad said. Thank you Dr Sakka and staff!"

Dr. Sakka is extremely nice. Very thorough and spends QT with all of his patients. You never feel rushed. Staff is very nice and accommodating. They make reminder calls and always try to accommodate your schedule. I really like that they don't try to up sell. If you want an honest opinion if a pair of glasses look good on you ask Carolyn. She will tell you straight up. The only negative to the office is that it is extremely cluttered and not "up to date". Not a big concern for me though. With all of that being sad I would highly recommend Dr. Sakka.

Finally -- Clear Vision and Freedom Again, Thanks to Dr. Liz!…read more After LASIK, I enjoyed 14 years of crystal-clear vision -- but when that started to fade, it felt like someone flipped a switch. My distance vision blurred, and while I was still "legally" able to drive (which was shocking!), it was nowhere near the sharpness I had grown used to. Glasses gave me better vision than ever, but they came with constant inconvenience: pain behind the ears, fogging, endless cleaning, and limitations on hiking or adventuring -- especially in the rain. Contacts were a disappointment. My previous doctor tried several brands and prescriptions, but nothing came close to the clarity of glasses. After two years and a barely touched 90-day supply, I accepted what I was told: "You'll never see the way you do with contacts again. Welcome to old age." Enter Dr. Liz at Island Girl Eye Care, and everything changed. She was determined to help me see clearly again -- and she delivered. Even the first set of lenses she fitted me with outperformed everything I had previously tried. But instead of settling, she encouraged me to keep fine-tuning for the best possible result. Appointment after appointment, her passion and persistence shone through. Dr. Liz is not only an exceptional optometrist -- she's a one-woman powerhouse who runs her business with more care and expertise than many corporate practices with large staffs. She invests in her education, attending multiple conferences on weekends, then returns to serve her patients with warmth, skill, and genuine connection. Talking to her feels like chatting with a friend who also happens to be a brilliant eye doctor. I now have contacts that give me nearly the same vision as my glasses, and my adventurous spirit is back. If you're searching for someone who truly listens, refuses to settle, and is dedicated to giving you the best vision possible -- you're doing yourself a disservice if Dr. Liz isn't your go-to eye care specialist.
