I finally had time to come here. From before, if you want the Oakleys, they have the up-to-date styles. However, bc they're a Maui Jim distributor you can get those much sooner. I recall when I got them before, two of the styles I selected they had on the spot! The real great thing of getting the Maui Jim sunglasses or eyeglasses is that they back the warranty of the craftsmanship if you experience any damage to them, they can take it back and replace with new ones. Subject to availability of style though! I would suggest to call or email them if you have any questions. Dr. Tom was very responsive through email. Sometimes the calls will not be answered since they are handling customers in store. The machines they use to test your retinas and eye care are digital and clear to see. My parents, my brother, and I started here with Dr. Dewey Tom and now we get just as amazing care with Dr. Taylor. There's parking in the back, they have a great selection of glasses, and state of the art equipment. It has been 3 years since we moved to the Windward side of the island, but for some reason I have been busting my butt to get on the H3 to go to our previous eye doctor. (And one of the office ladies at that office was just a straight up GRUMP.) So, on a recommendation of a friend, I decided to call Tom Eye Care. I am so glad that I did! My Munchkin does a lot of activities! She has glasses, so she finally broke down and asked for contacts. She had tried contacts, but for some reason one side always popped out. So she just gave up. Well, I explained this to the staff at Dr. Tom's office and they made an appointment for us on the following Monday. (I called on a Friday.) We walked in & Dr. Tom walked the Munchkin in to give her an exam. He explained to her that he was going to give her contacts that would fit better, so they wouldn't pop out. She was so happy! At that point Dr. Taylor took over & took pics of the back of her eyes. It was pretty cool to look at it. He gave her the lenses to put on, some drops to put in case of dryness, and saline solution. He spoke to my child about her options, which I appreciated because although I am the parent, she's the one wearing the contacts. I am so happy that we made the change. The staff is helpful and kind. Wonderful experience! Not enough stars! Parking can be tough on the top floor seeing that stalls are quite tight and your going to see an eye doctor lol It's best to use the floor Parking ( below the parking structure outside of the office), the entrances to that is a few yards down from where the office is located. It's a cozy small office and has a very family feel because it's a bit 'laxed in comparison to clinics like Kaiser or Castle ( not speaking of environment appearance ). I was met by Dr. Dewey first. Quick examination however VERY thorough. He's old school pen and paper style hehe and you know what?! He blows any other Dr with their computer skills out of the water!!! Shoot, it was even faster than waiting for a doctor to log stuff in on the computer. Don't get me wrong they have current/updated equipment needed to do their job it's just that this guys doesn't rely only on his book smarts alone. You can tell he has years of experience under his belt. His approach is assertive focusing on fixing the problem. You'll see it, he's going straight for the win lol So if you're looking for a Dr to make you feel special and wanting to connect go see someone else and save the appointments for people like us who love Doctors like him; straight shooters, who take pride in their work and like to get things done in a timely manner. I feel like if he was a hair dresser he'd be the type that wouldn't even ask what style you wanted but you'd walk out looking like a million lol After the check up I had to take eye scans, try on a test pair prescription glasses and look for frames; at this point I was greeted warmly by Dr Dewey's son Dr Taylor. Wow, what a pleasant balance of old and new school mannerisms. He was personable and focused on helping me to process the information they gave me on my eyes; he wanted to be sure I really understood things. I hadn't spent as much time with him because things were done so quickly and in a nice way. You can tell he loves interacting with patients and seeing each happy. I noticed this upon walking in; seeing him with other patients, again, a warm greeting when seeing me walk in yet still holding a conversation with who he was with. Wow, smh, haven't seen this type of service in awhile. My total time spent, ONE HOUR!!!! My eyes are difficult to work with according to ALL doctors of the past. I was even told my stigmatism was the worse ever seen on island. I just can't believe it! I had two surgeries done, cornea transplants, both eyes, in '06. I've seen numerous doctors and been at a ton of clinics. I've seen optometrist since I was 16 I'm in my 40's now and this by far was the best I have EVER seen. I changed medical insurance and I'm completely happy I did so. If they were located under a rock with a troll as a receptionist I'd still go and see them!! Ps she's not she quite lovely read more
