I took my bug to this spot and they know their stuff. I bought a turn key motor from them because the motor in my bug was blown. They got it running within a week or so. Which was great. I didn't expect it to be finished so soon. The owner is very informative of the problem you're having and very knowledgeable of VW's. After the work was completed, I noticed there were a few other things, not engine related that could have been fixed that were not brought up by the business owner, which I would've paid extra to have those items replaced or fixed. The owner and I did have a difference in opinion on engine parts and some other items I didn't receive from my turnkey motor that I bought from then. There were supposed to be parts left over, but according to the owner, there was not. I decided I would never take my vehicle to them in the future, due to the above reasons. This is just my opinion you would have to go there and have your vehicle worked on, to form your own opinion. Both times I've tried giving this local spot business they've made me feel stupid. I own a 68 VW Squareback. Apparently anything type 3 (Squareback) is out of the question don't know what it is even if they did know what it is they'll never get it for you. First time there i was looking for spark plug wires and an accelerator cable. I might as well have went in there looking for a pair of size 12 Nikes from 1985. The second chance i gave this place i called looking for the gasket for the gas cap. Pretty simple request, guy on the phone said "we don't sell anything like that" emphasis on the anything. Hey guy you're supposedly a VW shop why so confused when you got a customer with a classic VW trying to give you some business instead of ordering from J Bugs which is what i ended up doing and will probably keep doing until i find a local helpful business to support. read more

Someone replied via yelp later in the day and said they were getting parts. It's really no sweat off my back but I am reluctant to do business With anyone who is so disorganize. read more

I do most of my own maintenance work, but when I hit a roadblock I would call and Anthony was more than just helpful but also professional, knowledgeable, and kind in helping me find a solution. Unfortunately my 1970 beetle was totaled in a rear end accident years ago, but my mom continues to take her 1972 beetle there. She won't go anywhere else. So! I bought a bug! Had no idea what I got myself into! Called this man! Helped me with my first problem and even drove to Orange County to get the part for me! And a reasonable price! Mind you I have idea how to work on a bug! He offered to help via phone to replace the part which was a broken axle. So next thing I came across her and that stranded my wife was a busted fuel pump. I again went to this amazing man and there was two pump and he refused to sell me on cause one might be the wrong one. Instead this man met me where my bug was stranded at and REPLACED THE PART AND FIXED MY BUG ON THE SPOT! PEOPLE LIKE THIS ARE RARE!!! GIVE THIS MAN ALL YOUR BUSINESS!!!! Pros: they diagnosed my vehicle's issues, and provided a quote for free, plus they allowed me to leave my vehicle over the weekend, since I was unable to pick up on the weekend. Cons: on Monday I received a couple phone calls from one of the mechanics, unfortunately I was able to take them due to a rather important business meeting. However once I finished the meeting at 4:30 I called them back four times, and none of my calls were answered or retuned. I assumed at that point they were closed for the day. When I called the next day at around noon, they were rude and not understanding, even after I apologized for missing one of their calls, I even asked if they closed at 4:30 on Monday but he had said no. I ended up having to leave work early to go and pick up my vehicle, I figured it was the least I could do, after all they'd done at this point. The 2 star rating comes in here. I arrived well before their posted closing time on Tuesday, and as I walked in to pick up my vehicle, I noticed my vehicle in their front lot, unlocked! I asked about this and the response that I received wasn't apologetic, or remorseful at all, instead his response was that they always do that and that there were other vehicles in the same lot of higher value which are also unlocked. I retorted with, "what about the contents in the vehicle?" His response again was unapologetic and not remorseful, but claimed that in so many years (I don't remember exactly the number of years) that there has never been a car or contents stolen. I chose to leave at that point, because again their services were free of charge (since I could not yet afford to have my vehicle serviced) and I clearly wasn't going to convince him that there was anything wrong with his practices. I'm thankful for their help so far, but their lack of customer service and concern for the security of one's belongings will deter me from ever returning to complete my vehicle's service. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. My car didn't pass smog because a part needed to get replaced. Brought in my VW to get it replaced. Anthony replaced part and secured it with plastic zip ties! After I picked it up from the shop, car died on the freeway and I could barely get home. When I called him to ask about it, he said it wasn't his problem or his fault. When I asked him why he used zip ties for a repair, he first said that was standard protocol, then he said he ran out of metal clamps and the zip ties would last longer than metal clamps. I drove the car down to his shop so he could examine it in person. I overhead him on the phone talking about a lawsuit he was currently involved in. When I talked to him about the problems and concerns I had, he said I could sue him if I wanted to, but it wouldn't change anything because he didn't do anything wrong. I have a problem with spending $150 on car repairs, only for the car to be worse than before I took it in. HORRIBLE customer service, TERRIBLE repairs...oh, did I mention ZIP TIES to fix my car? I will never take my car back here again. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

I took my bus to Anthony to possibly have the roof rack "lowered" or the bus lowered, depending on what made the most sense financially. While my bus was in the shop, it mysteriously had it's paint destroyed where a roof rack would be attached. I asked him what happened and he denied the whole thing, which maybe he didn't, but someone at his shop did ruin my paint (top and rear air vents). Makes him a liar in my book. He also lowered the bus, and in doing so replaced the brakes to clear the drop spindles, then installed dual carbs to help power loss I was experience from an intake leak. In doing so, failed to reconnect my brake booster, so now my bus stops for shit and has an ear wrenching squeal from the pads. In addition, nearly every time I've scheduled service with him, he's left me hanging outside his shop for 15 minutes to over an hour and repeatedly failed to address multiple issues on multiple occasions...maybe he forgot. There has been more than 1 occasion where the repair was something minor and another place told me it would be thousands of dollars.
