I came accros these guys on ebay selling various bits and pieces for BMWs and other europen vehicles. Had a nice discussion with their secretary (James?) who advised me that seeing as my item was being purchased by someone out of state, they could waive the sales tax. Given this was for my sister M3 I thought why not save the $20 and send it to Chicago. They told me they could ship to LBC under same arangement. Next morning comes: long story short they didn't and proceeded and refused to refund my tax (they previously said they would) and got extremely nasty and threatened me. Anyway they said to beware cos they are like the mafia of the car business (these guys all talk so hard I dont get it). Curious I asked what main events they attend (as I fellt they implied everything) but they couldn't answers what they attend, just the major events they DONT attend.... Who cares about a little attitude... people have bad days but it's no excuse to go against their written website policy: Website Statements Q: Do I have to pay sales tax? You only have to pay sales tax if you are located in the same state as our warehouse. their answer: YES YOU DO EVEN IF YOU LIVE or visit from an ANOTHER STATE AND WANT IT SHIPPED THERE , cos my ebay account says Long Beach?? cos that is my california address, I could have given a new york address but the lady was already frantic I could tell! anyway I suggested seeing as they CLEARLY stated in the previous email "if this item is for a person in another state you don't pay sales tax" Even thought I was only concerned about half the order, they decided to cancel everything... they are total it's like the BMW Rice Nazi - NO RICE FOR YOUR M lol, after this delightful rendition of Seinfeld... I was then told the know lots of car people... well that is suprising cos in 13 years they have 5 ibvious shill comments on their yelp page. They don't guarntee pricess as primised and are seedy people... Auto Technik Car Care is a AAA Automobile Club Approved Auto Repair Facility. Auto Technik's affiliation with AAA means an excellent rating. Although, we discovered Auto Technik in a different good manner. Years ago, one day at Costco we approached this gentleman who owns the same car model as ours; and, asked him if he knows of a good mechanic shop where we could take our car for maintenance and repair. Immediately, he recommended Auto Technik Car Care. He said he's happy and satisfied with Auto Technik's good work and good service. Therefore, when we had an issue with our car, we called Auto Technik and set up an appointment. We met up with Sham. From the first time had a conversation with him, we already felt relieved that our car will be in good hands. We're impressed with Sham's attentiveness, understanding and care towards his customers concerns. We noticed the smiling faces and good mood of Sham and everyone at Auto Technik; it's comforting. We've been bringing the rest of our cars to Auto Technik for regular maintenance and repairs. Sham, Jay, and team are very efficient, prompt, honest and knowledgeable. They are always welcoming and pleasant whenever you call them for assistance. After Sham discusses your car issues; he clearly explains the solutions and reasonable repair fees and does the necessary repair only after getting your approval. I recently purchased a 1994 Chevy Silverado that I want to make into a nice daily driver. Part of the process was to have a couple of minor oil leaks fixed, so I took my pickup to Jay at Auto Technik. He advised me it would take a while to fix the problems as the transmission also needed repair. During the time Jay had my vehicle, he called me several times to advise me of other minor problems that should be taken care of at some point in the future but would still work until I took care of them. I had Jay repair these small items as I did not want to plough the same ground twice. The day arrived for me to pick up my vehicle and Jay meticulously went over all work done and even installed a "kill" switch for no charge as he felt bad about taking as long as he had to finish the job. And wouldn't you know it, my vehicle overheated on my way home. I called Jay and the asked me to bring the vehicle back so he could look at it and fix the additional problem. The overheating had nothing to do with the original work he had done. I returned the following day and he replaced a stuck thermostat and would not charge me for the the work as he said it was a gift for my patience with him and his work. I can't recommend Auto Technik and Jay enough. Other mechanics should take note of this business and their ethics and perhaps one would not here horror stories about peoples experiences with overcharging, unnecessary work performed to drive up the bill and generally unethical business practices that seem so prevalent in the auto repair sectors. read more

I have been coming to Auto Technik ever since my old mechanic (family friend) retired. I used to drive from Corona all the way to Redondo Beach back then because its so hard to find someone you can really trust with your car. I asked for recommendations from my community's Yahoo newsgroups and everyone suggested I try out Auto Technik. I am SO GLAD I came here! The owners, Jay and Sham, are the nicest most helpful people you can meet. Like all the other reviews say, they are Friendly, Honest and Affordable. They are extremely accomodating to my schedule and always get my car back in time. They are EXCELLENT at explaining problems in layman terms and they don't try to add to your list of things to fix which I really appreciate. They will help me determine what I need to fix right away so my vehicle(s) remain in tip top shape and what I can hold off on. I trust them implicitly for all my car needs and consider them friends, now how many people can say that about their mechanics? I work near their shop and anytime anyone at work needs their car attended to from brake jobs to oil changes and just about anything in between, I happily refer them to Auto Technik. I bet you're reading all these 5 star reviews and thinking to yourself "No f*ing way"...I thought the same thing; I was just looking for an honest mechanic and I got I all. These guys are welcoming,kind,knowledgeable AND honest! I've been laughed at by other mechanics for not knowing much about cars but Jay and Sham took care of my crappy 90's Neon like it was a Lambo! (OK..maybe exaggerating a little but hear me out!) I took It in for some collision damage and most people were just dropping their cars off but it was my only ride so I hung out on the couch in the waiting room and watched some t.v(free Wi-Fi too BTW). Anyways, while I was waiting they would come and check up on me just to see how I was doing or If I needed anything but what really got me was they would bring the bent/broken parts to show me exactly what was wrong and my options to fix it! They walked me through the whole process never hiding anything from me. (I've been to other places for a "$20 oil change" that ended up costing $50) Not here. I even got estimates from other shops for my damage and paid HUNDREDS less here. They even threw In an alignment, tire rotation and diagnostic for all the other problems with my car (without ever pressuring me into a fix I couldn't afford) for FREE. Where do I start? I've known Jay, Sham, Jared and the rest of the crew for maybe 13+ years now and I know nothing but superior service from them. Over the years I've had them take care of 6 cars not including the ones of my family. From the basic oil change and tire rotation to the more heavy maintenance they did it all. Appointments were easy and didn't take much time. They have a nice lounge you can relax in while you wait. When I was on the east coast they advised me many times and saved me thousands in repair costs in other auto shops. From a third gear synchronizer issue to a check engine light issue that was advised to have more intensive engine work such as a head gasket and and valve springs, they talked it out with the present mechanic and pinpointed out that is was a simple solenoid issue which was a much cheaper fix than the initial diagnosis. They always looked out for me and gave me a heads up on future potential service to my vehicle. They're the best mechanics I know and they treat me as a close friend. They treat all their clients well as if they known them for ages. All I know is that any future cars I have will be under their care. I wish I could give negative stars, but until then, this place gets one. I've taken my car to this place several times and it usually had another problem just weeks later. I kept thinking that it was probably just my car, so every time I had car trouble, I would take it to Auto Technik. The last time I took it there I had to get a new radiator and some hoses installed. It cost around 3 grand. About a month later, I was having more trouble with my car, so I decided to take it to another mechanic. The other mechanic said there was a problem with my radiator and after I told him I just had it replaced, he said whoever had done the work, did a terrible job. According to him, there were pieces missing, the hose that was installed had a crack in it (which explains why there was a puddle of coolant all over my driveway) and he even said some of the parts looked like they older than a month. I had put a lot of money into that shop and now I had just put another 3 grand down for a repair that lasted a month. This place is a scam! They do terrible repairs, forget to put pieces back on and apparently install used parts. They take forever to repair a car and as soon as its done, they want you to pick it up. Just moved here from the San Francisco bay area, looking for a good reliable mechanic to service my 04 srt-4. I saw their ad in the pennysaver, hopped onto yelp and saw nothing but good reviews about these guys. Called up, made an appointment and took the car in, and while shooting the breeze with Sham found out that he used to be an air traffic controller and we were off from there. I picked my car up after service, went to start it and boom! Dead battery! I couldn't believe it, so I walked back into the office and talked to Sham, next thing you know he's got the portable booster jumper in hand, jumps my car, has me pull up to the shop to test my charging system and battery to see what the problem was. Ended up needing a new battery. These guys kept working even after the car was done and out of their hair and its rare to find people who will go above and beyond like that! If you're looking for honest, hard working, fair priced mechanics, then I have to tell you that Sham and Jay are the best out there, period! This shop is fantastic. They are honest - the #1 quality when you don't know much about cars. I was traveling when the check engine light came on. My Honda car book said that I could have either a small problem that wasn't urgent or that I could damage my car by continuing to drive. The only way to tell was to have the computer diagnostics run. Auto Technik was able to look at the car first thing in the morning so I could continue my trip. It turned out that my car had a small problem that didn't need to be fixed immediately. Sham, the owner, was honest and gave me the code so I could follow up when I got home. Under the circumstance, he could have sold me anything. They are very knowledgeable, dependable, and most importantly are trustworthy and honest which are very hard to find traits when it comes to car shops. I needed to have my radiator replaced and they offered to do it for a very fair price; much less than the car dealer and a dozen other repair shops I asked. Plus they were able to order the part and complete the work the very next day for me; fitting me into their busy schedule that day just because they knew I was from out of town and needed my car fixed asap. What an auto repair company! Sham is the man! I brought in my gf's 2006 nissan Altima because the serpentine belt came off, idle was fluctuating, engine light was on, and other minor issues. Once the team did a diagnostic check, he called me and provided me with options. These options were completely understandable, very thoughtful, and helpful.
