I had the pleasure of using JBM 2 times. First time was to get a lift and new rims and tires on my Jeep. Mark and Paul are the best! They really made the process easy. The second time was recently. I was involved in an accident and all the damage was to my tire and rim and suspension. JBM was the only place I wanted taking care of my car. For my visit to JBM offroad I had Bilstein 5100's installed on both the front and rear of my 2020 4Runner, in addition to a MBRP cat-back exhaust. Where the issues started to happen is with the installation of the MBRP cat-back exhaust. Upon leaving the shop, I instantly noticed an excessive amount of vibration and drone whether the car was idling, accelerating slowly, or quickly. Cognizant that after-market exhaust systems in SUV's can drastically enhance drone, I initially thought this was unavoidable, and after all an "expert" had installed the part. After a few days I took my 4Runner to a local exhaust expert (Big B's Mufflers and Fabrication - 4.9 stars on 186 reviews) and was shocked to find what JBM had done during installation. Per Big B's notes on the car " cat-back exhaust misaligned - hitting/touching both the floor board and spare tire heat shield. in addition to loose hardware". He pointed out 3 different areas in which the exhaust was improperly installed and was touching the bottom of the car or various parts of it. After 30 minutes of quality mechanic work, the exhaust was completely fixed, drone was gone, and it was like I had a new car. The poor exhaust work aside - Paul M. is an incredible resource for lift information and provided incredible customer service. After the issues with the exhaust he refunded the cost of installation which was greatly appreciated. read more

Great people. I ended up here on accident. I was looking for an off-road equipment store and needed to put some miles on the Jeep to clear a code so I made the drive. All I got was a lesson on what my jeep is supposed to look like :) I quickly realized I was in the wrong spot but they were gracious and invited me in to tour their modified jeeps. I have a 2016 Toyota 4runner TRD Pro - about three years ago around 70k miles the shocks started leaking. Since then, I have been in touch either in person, on the phone, or via email with about 20 different off-road shops in Southern California. JBM Off-Road has been the most prompt, thorough, patient, professional, and kind off road shop I've dealt with. Not long after sending them a very long and detailed email with a lot of questions - Mark responded with numerous paragraphs answering all of my questions. Then he suggested we get on the phone where he could explain more as well as ask a few more questions before making a final recommendation and giving me pricing. The phone call was extremely informative. I've got the initial price quote for a lift kit and installation that is a higher quality kit than what a lot of other shops offered - at a price with installation that's cheaper. Plus he was honest that if I was keeping this long-term, they would do a pre-inspection while I was there so they could point out any other things that might be more affordable to replace while they were doing the lift kit versus waiting down the road. He was not pressuring or rushing me to make any type of deal about just getting a lift kit thrown on there like other shops have. He was super patient answering all of my questions and not just telling me what I should do. He explained different options with their pros and cons. I was still living in Los Angeles so a lot of the other shops were initially up there, including one that made it sound like it was dangerous to drive and their solution was a $5k high speed off road suspension even though I told them I was only doing highway driving and maybe once every other couple years a dirt road. Other shops I would ask detailed questions after tediously reading threads on forums about lift kits - and the off-road shops would be even more confusing or give me conflicting answers without taking into consideration my questions, my budget, or what my intended use was for the vehicle. Fast-forward to living in San Diego and it ends up frustrating stopping at shops and getting thrown their suggestions without even hearing my parameters. Again, it's often them either wanting to put on some fancy high maintenance suspension that's way out of my price range and not aligned with how I use my vehicle, or just suggesting a lower quality kit than what I already came stock on the TRD Pro. It can also be confusing just exactly what the total out the door price would be with parts and labor. Mark was upfront about a number of items, including some I was aware of and some I was not - but the other shops were not that thorough. I even had one shop almost order me Bilstein 5100s saying I could lift the front and it wouldn't be expensive at all... only for me to go home and read on the Toyota forums that definitely isn't possible with the springs on my TRD Pro. Anyhow if you are shopping around for a lift kit or other modifications to your 4x4 - at least give these guys a call or an email. Even though they are over an hour and a half away from me I plan on going there to get the inspection done and I am seriously considering getting the work done there even though it's that far away. I just want peace of mind that the job was done thoroughly - as well thus far their pricing seems pretty darn good. Mark definitely is an A++'er with customer service and knowledge of 4Runners. read more
